On this day in Akihabara, the lunch break is limited so there is no time to waste. I went up to the second floor of the UDX building in Akihabara Station and the first thing that caught my eye was the "Tsukiji Shokudo's Fish Market Fry Set Meal". I love "Horse Mackerel Fry" so I decided to go in. When I said I was dining alone, I was shown to a counter seat. It seemed like it would get crowded after 12 o'clock. The seats were divided by polyester sheets on the left and right, making it a bit cramped. Later I found out that Tsukiji Shokudo is a chain restaurant that extends from Aomori in the north to Kumamoto in the south. The ingredients are processed in their own processing plant on the market premises, where staff members process the fish with minimal processing to make it easier for the restaurant staff. As an office district restaurant, their biggest selling point is that you can have a set meal anytime, regardless of the time. Because it's that kind of set meal restaurant, it's the height of rudeness to talk about the quality of the fry. The lunch on this day was delicious and satisfying. Today's order: Fish Market Fry Set Meal @ 1,298. The woman sitting next to me who ordered "Daily Bowl and Chicken Fry Set Meal" after me received her order first. I glanced over and saw the chef-like woman who was working right in front of me stop and say that the one being fried will be ready soon. Everyone in the office district is in a hurry, so that kind of consideration is necessary. But I was overtaken by the order of the man who sat down on the right after me, who ordered the "Oyster Fry Set Meal". Now, my "Fish Market Set Meal" has arrived. It consisted of 1. Horse Mackerel Fry 2. Cream Croquette 3. Shrimp Fry. The fries were freshly fried and the batter was crispy and reasonably delicious. The rice was also delicious. Above all, the lineup of not only horse mackerel fry but also shrimp fry and cream croquette was wonderful.

This is a restaurant located in the Akihabara UDX building's dining area. I visited during lunchtime on a weekday. The dining area in this building is always packed during lunch. Although this restaurant was also full, the line was manageable so I decided to enter. As the name suggests, the menu here mainly focuses on seafood. Most lunch menu items are priced above 1000 yen including tax, although there are a few options below that. The location is good so the prices are somewhat expected. However, considering the seafood dishes, it doesn't feel overpriced. I ordered the bonito sashimi set and fried chicken set for 1298 yen. Here is what I received: The bonito sashimi set came with 7 pieces of bonito tataki with sauce and condiments already added. It was more filling than expected, and the sauce went well with the rice. The quality of the bonito was decent considering the price. The fried chicken was served as a side dish on top of the salad with 3 pieces. The taste was average, not particularly delicious. It seems like seafood dishes would be a better choice at this restaurant. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

A seafood restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Akihabara Station. Located on the 2nd floor of UDX. Visited for lunch and ordered the Maguro Tekka Don. It was around 1180 yen. Today, I went to an izakaya for lunch. It was "Minamoto-chan" located in Akihabara UDX (Akihabara branch). I went with a friend and we started drinking a little before evening. We ordered the "Choi Nomisetsu (¥1,000)" first, which includes a drink, sashimi, small dish, and one item. We chose beer for the drink. It was really cost-effective (photos 1, 2). After that, we ordered additional dishes as we liked (photos 3, 4). The total came to around ¥6,600 for both of us, which is about ¥3,300 per person. The price was reasonable. It was nice to be able to drink during the day, enjoy the train view from the window, and relax for about an hour and a half chatting. The location is good (just a short escalator ride up from Akihabara station without crossing any intersections), and the convenience and cost performance of the restaurant were good.

While searching for a safe place, I explored Akihabara. Lately, I've been avoiding small shops. UDX_AKIBAICHI, I haven't been here in a while. The food court seems a bit lackluster. I've already tried most of the places that look inviting. Ramen Gekijo is always empty. The spacious atmosphere is nice, but the problem is there aren't any appealing stores. No matter how much I try, I can't find a store that makes me excited to enter. The experience is more about defensive measures due to past disappointments. "Tsukiji Shokudo Gen-chan," a familiar face from the past, came to mind. They have fried food and sashimi. Seeking satisfaction from eating a variety of dishes, I decided to try it. I've never been inside before, but the trigger was the fried food, sashimi, and the sample sashimi display. The interior matches the spacious feel from the outside, which is reassuring in this day and age where cramped spaces are undesirable. After having lunch and moving on, I was shocked by the menu. There wasn't much that caught my eye, so I settled for the "Today's Sashimi Set Meal" and the "Tsukiji Fish Market Fry Set Meal," with an additional side of "Potato Salad." The "Potato Salad" arrived in about 5 minutes, followed by the "Today's Sashimi Set Meal" and the "Tsukiji Fish Market Fry Set Meal" in another 5 minutes. The appearance was okay, not too bad. It felt like what you would get at a pub for lunch. The service was appreciated, but there was something lacking. The sashimi lacked flavor. Each ingredient's individual taste, which you would expect from Tsukiji, was missing. The fried food was average. The horse mackerel fry and shrimp fry tasted as expected. The shrimp had a thick, crunchy coating. It was understandable, but I wish there was a bit more excitement. It was good to try something that is commonly offered at pubs for lunch, but I would prefer not to encounter a meal with no substance. I stopped by for a late lunch in Akihabara around 1:00 PM. I arrived at 15:00 and started exploring the area. After walking around the commercial facility where "Gen-chan" is located, I decided to go with Gen-chan for lunch. I have been to both the Shinjuku Gyoen and Triton Square branches of Gen-chan before and have always been impressed with the freshness of the fish and the delicious appetizers. I was excited to try it again this time. Even though it was a bit late, Gen-chan was still bustling with customers. Luckily, we were seated right away at the counter. My friend ordered a hearty rice bowl set, while I opted for a light snack and a cola highball. The portions were generous and the fish was fresh and delicious. Gen-chan is known for their tasty fried dishes as well. I wasn't very hungry, so I just ordered a small sashimi dish with salmon and octopus mixed together, along with some garlic slices. The dish was well-presented and the garlic added a nice touch without being overpowering. Overall, the experience at Gen-chan was enjoyable, with great music playing in the background.

I arrived at the restaurant for lunch around 11 o'clock with two groups already there. We sat at a table by the window and the menu had a lot of options, making it hard to choose. In the end, I went with the mixed fry set meal, while my companion chose the miso soup set meal, both with extra rice. We ended up getting a free refill of rice halfway through. The portions were generous and the fried food and ginger pork were delicious. However, the sashimi, which I was looking forward to the most, was disappointing as shown in the picture. I won't say much more, but I think many customers come here for the fresh fish. It's worth noting that the rice comes in a large portion and refills are free, which is a nice touch.

I arrived a little before noon, so it was not crowded. After placing our orders, it quickly got busy as it was lunchtime. Since it was a weekday, there were many office workers. We ordered salmon negitoro oyakodon and fish market fry set. I had the fry set, which was very filling and satisfying. The salmon negitoro oyakodon had more volume than it appeared, and received positive feedback.

I decided to go with the seafood option that seemed to come out quickly. I was torn between the sesame dressing bowl and the whitebait bowl, but ended up ordering the whitebait bowl and sashimi set for 980 yen. It arrived promptly as expected. The bowl was small, but had quite a lot of rice, which was equivalent to a large serving in my opinion. The whitebait itself was mild, and could have used a bit more saltiness. Since it wasn't vinegared rice, I added a little wasabi from the sashimi and lightly dipped it in soy sauce. Even then, I couldn't finish all the rice. The sashimi was decent, neither exceptionally good nor bad. The staff in the restaurant were lively, with voices coming from the kitchen, which I found endearing, but some might prefer a quieter atmosphere. Overall, it was a typical lunch at a chain restaurant.

It feels like the color intensity needs to be increased with Photoshop. Taking photos in dim lighting can sometimes result in dull colors, but it's daytime, so it's not an issue. While I can't recommend the sashimi, the grilled fish also comes with its own risks. It's a double-edged sword for amateurs. Well, just go eat a convenience store bento or something.

The total bill was 1045 yen. The restaurant offers free extra rice. I ended up choosing this place because Chiba-chan was closed and Nemuro closed early. The vegetables were partially boiled, and mixed with bell peppers, mushrooms, and asparagus. The fried chicken had a soy sauce marinade that was a bit overpowering. The black vinegar was disappointing. Overall, it was just okay. But for over 1000 yen, I expected to be more satisfied. The extra rice portion was small. And there was a slight taste of artificial seasoning in the sauce. I think the fried chicken was the main issue.

I had some errands in Akihabara and decided to have a meal. The only place that I thought was delicious was Tonkatsu Daigo, but I didn't want to wait in line and I didn't feel like walking too much, so I headed to the UDX building instead. I have some bad memories of this building and although the prices are not high, the food has never been good in my opinion. It has been quite a long time since I last visited when the building was newly opened. Even though I had a bad experience in the past, I was craving for Japanese food so I went to an izakaya. I sat at the counter by the window, and although the noise from the trains was a bit bothersome, the view was nice. I was indecisive about what to order, but ended up choosing the "Gen-chan Don" from the menu. The bowl was surprisingly huge, but when I dug in with my chopsticks, I was relieved to find that the rice was thinly spread out. It was not as much rice as I expected, which was a pleasant surprise for me. Despite weighing over 100 kilograms, I have the appetite of a woman in her 20s, so the portion was just right for me. The restaurant offers free extra rice, but I'm not sure how much they would give. The bowl had a variety of toppings, more than what you would get at Yoshike Shokudo, so I thought it was quite reasonable. I believe the cost performance is not bad, but for those who eat a lot, it might not be satisfying in terms of quantity.

Shirasu-don and Jumbo Tarakatsu Nanban for 920 yen (excluding tax). Located in a restaurant area in a business building, this place offers a bowl with a huge amount of rice and a truly jumbo-sized Tarakatsu. The fish in the cutlet is so big that it's hard to tell what kind of white fish it is, but it is incredibly delicious. The amount of rice is deceivingly large, like it's just perched in the middle. I couldn't finish it all, it's as big as a rice ball. If you want to get full, this is the place to go. [Rating: 3.4]

I visited a chain restaurant located in UDX, right next to Akihabara Station. They offer a wide variety of lunch menus, including seafood bowls, and fish or meat set meals! So, you can go there every day without getting bored. I ordered the set meal with grated ponzu sauce fried chicken ❤️ It was crispy, filling, and very satisfying. The portions are quite generous for all the menu items, so this restaurant may be more geared towards men.

Fisherman's Wharf Fry Set Meal with extra rice for 1078 yen. The soup comes with seaweed and a little bit of green onion. Comes with cabbage salad, potato salad, and pickles on the side. The skewers are probably minced meat and onion. Cream croquette, banana shrimp fry, and horse mackerel fry. None of them really stood out. As a fan of horse mackerel fry, I didn't like the slimy texture between the fish and the batter. The shrimp fry lacked a juicy texture since it was made with banana shrimp. The batter was crispy and slightly burnt, which I didn't mind. The cream croquette... was there oyster extract in it? I couldn't see any pieces of something in it. The taste was average. I didn't really care for the skewers. I feel unsatisfied paying over a thousand yen for a meal that doesn't fill me up.

On this day, I was drawn to the menu of the Tsukiji Shokudo Gen-chan in Akihabara for their special sale on fresh bluefin tuna bowls. I visited in October 2019 for lunch, and indeed, the bluefin tuna bowl was a great deal. It was a generous serving with premium cuts of fatty tuna, medium fatty tuna, and lean tuna that exceeded the usual quality of Gen-chan Shokudo.

I felt like having a seafood bowl for lunch, so I came here. It's a restaurant inside UDX in Akihabara. UDX has many dining options, so it's easy to get overwhelmed. I ordered the lunch seafood bowl (I forgot the exact name of the dish...). The taste was not bad, but personally, I prefer vinegar rice in my seafood bowl, so I was a bit disappointed when I realized it was just plain white rice. This is more of a matter of personal preference.

Basically, I have weekends off, but I worked on a day off today to help with the opening of a new store. I had some business in Akihabara, so I decided to have lunch there. Akihabara is known for its large portions like "meat" and "donburi", but as I walked around the town, I found surprisingly delicious looking restaurants. Since I didn't have much break time, I headed to the "Crossfield" building right near Akihabara station. I didn't research it beforehand, but many people were heading towards this building, so I thought there might be some restaurants there. I went to the restaurant floor and found a food court-like area, teishokuya, izakaya, udon shop, sushi shop, and okonomiyaki shop. I peeked into the udon shop but couldn't find a seat, I didn't feel like going to an izakaya, the sushi shop was expensive, and I wasn't in the mood for okonomiyaki, so I chose "Genchan", which had an izakaya atmosphere. The daily lunch menu displayed outside looked delicious, so I decided to go there. When I entered the restaurant and said I was alone, I was guided to a counter seat. I ordered the "Chicken and Tofu Miso Curry Stew Set Meal" for 950 yen (tax included). I was curious about what miso curry was. After waiting a few minutes, the miso curry arrived. And I was told that rice and miso soup were all-you-can-eat, which made me excited. It looked like regular curry. But when I tried it, it had a mellow taste different from the curry I usually eat. I scooped the curry with the spoon provided and put it in my mouth along with the rice! It was truly a blissful moment. It was Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, so the restaurant was not crowded, and I could enjoy it at my own pace. By the way, the miso soup was delicious with red miso. When I make miso soup at home, I usually use liquid miso clam soup, but sometimes trying different miso soups outside makes me appreciate the taste. Living alone, it's easy for your eating habits to become the same every day, so eating out and reevaluating your diet is one way to go. The staff member, a man wearing glasses, who greeted me with a big smile when I asked for seconds, was really nice. Thank you for the meal.

The fried oysters were delicious with a lot of juice and a plump texture, making it hard to stop eating. They come with tartar sauce, but I appreciate that they also provide regular sauce, which enhances the flavor of the oysters for me. Eating fried oysters with the sauce is a sensory experience for me. However, the rice that comes with it doesn't quite match up. I wish they had put a little more effort into it.

I recently tried to conquer the UDX lunch, so I decided to visit here for the first time in a while without writing a review on Tabelog. Among the constantly changing food and beverage outlets at UDX, this place seems to have been around for quite some time. I think I've had the sashimi set meal here before. Today, I decided to try the seafood chirashi bowl with sea bream broth that was displayed on the flyer, as it looked delicious. It had my favorite ikura (salmon roe) on top, which instantly lifted my spirits. I enjoyed the first half as it was, and then poured the sea bream broth over the rest and had another bite. I finished it in no time. I heard that you can get a free large serving, so I should have opted for that. I wanted to eat more of the sea bream broth tea pickles. The creatively prepared ingredients made it a delicious and affordable meal. Thank you for the feast!
