Hidden in the bustling Tsukiji outer market, among the many seafood bowl restaurants, is the hidden gem known as "Tekkaya Hie" (Hie is the name). Established 95 years ago, this tuna bowl restaurant is run by Hie, a tuna specialty wholesaler at the Tsukiji market. The freshness of the tuna, sourced daily from the tuna auction, where it is then expertly dissected and cut, is the highlight of this place. Located just a 3-minute walk from the Tsukiji 4th intersection, inside the Tsukiji Fish Market Odawara Bridge building on the 3rd floor food court, this place may look simple but showcases impressive tuna blocks on display. The menu features only tuna, with the main options being the "Hon Tekka" (2,500 yen) and the "Shun Tekka" (2,000 yen), along with sets that include tuna stew. The tuna used for the Hon Tekka on this day is farmed tuna from Tsushima, Nagasaki Prefecture, featuring both medium fatty tuna and lean tuna, creating a deliciously flavorful tuna bowl. The Shun Tekka includes a mix of Boston and Shiogama tuna, leaning towards a lighter flavor profile. Opting for a richer taste, we ordered the Hon Tekka. After settling the bill, you receive a buzzer to claim your seat and wait for your order. The tuna bowl arrives in about 2 minutes, with layers of tuna arranged like petals on a large bowl. The pink, moist surface of the tuna exudes a sweet flavor. Starting with the medium fatty tuna in the center, the strong sweetness quickly spreads through your taste buds, followed by an incredibly smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture. Dipping the tuna lightly in soy sauce enhances the richness, bringing out the unique sweetness and flavor of the farmed tuna. The vinegared rice has a balanced moisture level, creating a chewy texture with a subtle vinegar aroma, complemented by finely chopped seaweed for added flavor. A recommended way to enjoy it is by dipping a large piece of tuna in soy sauce and wrapping it around the rice, allowing the sweetness of the fatty tuna and the saltiness of the soy sauce to blend together, creating an explosion of exquisite flavors. This simple yet delicious tuna bowl from Hie is a satisfying lunch experience. The variety of tuna sourced from different regions like Oma, Funakawa Bay, Amakusa, and Amami Oshima adds an element of excitement as the flavors vary depending on the day's catch. Located in a food court frequented by nearby office workers, this place is a hidden gem for tourists. Enjoy the authentic and flavorful tuna bowls carefully selected by the Hie tuna wholesaler. Tekkaya Hie Address: Tsukiji 6-26-1, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Odawara Bridge Building, 3F Phone: 03-3541-9444 Hours: 10:00-15:00 Closed on market holidays Stay time: 30 minutes Bill: 2,500 yen including tax Visited: Around 12:00 on weekdays, no waiting

I had the "Omakase Tekkadon" and it was delicious. The tuna was tender and had no fishy taste. Even though it may look like there isn't much tuna in the photo, there were thick slices of tuna on top. It was really tasty!

I had a delicious seafood bowl at TEKKAYA in Tsukiji Food Court. ✂︎------------------------------------ Shop Information Location: Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 6-26-1 Tsukiji Uogashi Odawara Bridge Building 3F Access: 8 minutes walk from Tsukiji Station Business Hours: 10:00-15:00 Regular Holiday: Market holidays ⏳Waiting Time: I went on a holiday. It was quite crowded, but I was able to get a seat fairly quickly! (Maybe just lucky?) ------------------------------------ A hidden gem in Tsukiji for gourmet food! A seafood bowl shop inside the fish market eatery. [Ordered Menu] - Chef's choice Tekka-don (2200 yen) All the menus were quite pricey like tourist prices... There were many tourists around. The most cost-effective bowl was also 2200 yen, but I splurged! It had plenty of big chunks of tuna and was delicious! It would be something foreign visitors would be happy to try. It might be a bit pricey for everyday use, but it's worth trying if you're on a sightseeing trip! Next time, I want to try a more expensive bowl with lots of fatty tuna. Honest Review Cost Performance: ★★★ Deliciousness: ★★★★ Overall Rating: ★★★ Recommended Usage Solo: ◎ Friends: ◎ Date: ◎ On Instagram @tokyo_umauma, I share gourmet information based in Tokyo that I actually visited. *I will also irregularly post gourmet information from travel destinations. I would be happy if you could follow me.

I went to the food court on the 2nd floor of the building "Tsukiji Uogashi" located at the back of the Tsukiji Outer Market. The parking lot is located at the far end of the market, called "Mitsui Repark Temporary Second Parking Lot", and it is quite affordable (parking for 2-30 cars). It doesn't show up on Google Maps, so aim for the Haneda Shrine on the map. It's located behind there. I arrived on a Saturday after 11 am, and it was almost full, but since it's a food court, I was able to secure a seat quite quickly. There are about 6 shops set up, all with a nostalgic downtown atmosphere, so there is a different kind of enjoyment in this food court. I had the following dishes with my companion: "Hon Tekka" for 2,500 yen, "Toritou" chicken soba with soy sauce for 800 yen, and "Yabusoba" katsu-don for 1,700 yen. It was very crowded, so it took about 10-15 minutes to get our food. Especially the katsu-don was slow. The Hon Tekka looked delicious from the appearance alone! The color combination was wonderful, truly fresh from the market! The seafood bowl met the condition of "not being able to see the rice under the toppings". It was not cheap due to the touristy prices, but it was a satisfying and excellent bowl!

Before traveling from Tokyo, I decided to walk to Tsukiji with a friend and have a meal. Our original plan was to visit the famous "Yamayuki" restaurant known for its winning bid at the first auction of tuna, but we were hesitant due to the crowds at Tsukiji Market. Just as we were about to give up on finding a place to eat, we stumbled upon a newly opened store in a food court-like area. It was a direct-operated store of "Hiei," a tuna wholesale store. We decided to order their specialty, the Hon Tekka (bowl). Today's tuna was the "Kozushima natural yellowtail tuna." After placing our order, we had to wait quite a while before our meal was served. The bowl was filled with tuna to the point where you couldn't even see the vinegar rice. We immediately dipped the tuna in wasabi soy sauce and rolled it with the rice. It was delicious! To think we could eat this much tuna in the heart of Tokyo, it was satisfying. I couldn't help but feel that there was no need to visit sushi restaurants in other regions when you can have such a meal here. Despite feeling a bit dissatisfied with that thought, I finished my meal feeling satisfied. I am currently rating this restaurant 3.19 on Tabelog.

Early in the morning on December 29th, I left Kamakura and decided to drive along the route from the starting point of the Hakone Ekiden. If you're heading to Tokyo in the morning, why not go to Tsukiji Outer Market? The goal was to have breakfast unique to Tsukiji Outer Market. However, there was a huge traffic jam. It was a struggle to find a parking spot. Eventually, we managed to park the car and walk to the market, which was crowded with people, even though it was only 8 o'clock in the morning. We found a place that seemed to have food available, although it was a bit like a food court. My daughter requested the most expensive dish, the "Hon Tekka" for 2,500 yen, while my daughter and I had the "Omakase Tekkadon" for 2,300 yen. I'm not a big fan of tuna, but it was surprisingly delicious! Later, I realized the high quality of the tuna here when I had tuna elsewhere and found it lacking in flavor. The fact that we could get this amount of fresh tuna for this price is really cost-effective! At that time, I didn't fully appreciate it, but looking back, I now realize the greatness of this place. The sushi restaurants around may be good too, but I highly recommend the tuna here. I might come back again. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Lunch at Tsukiji Uogashi with "Tekkaya" on the 3rd floor. It is directly managed by the major tuna wholesaler "Hiei". The menu only offers tuna, which is quite straightforward. I ordered the recommended "Hon Tekka (2500 yen)". I paid at the same time as ordering. Cash or PayPay is accepted. I was given a vibrating device and went to the available seat. I sat in front of the shop where there was an empty seat and waited. After about 2 minutes, the device vibrated and I went to pick up my order. Today's tuna is from Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture. Even though I can't tell the difference in taste based on the origin, when I hear the place, I recall the scenery of that area. Shiogama is one of Japan's leading tuna landing ports, and I remembered visiting Shiogama Shrine and Matsushima. The soy sauce was already poured into a small dish, and when I tried the thick-cut chu-toro and akami with a little wasabi, it was quite delicious tuna. The chu-toro and medium toro cost 3500 yen, but this was already delicious and worth the price, even more so. The vinegared rice was also delicious. The miso soup with tofu and wakame was decently normal. I think this is a recommended restaurant for tuna lovers. It truly lives up to the name of "Hiei". (Visit date: 3/16)

This place was like a food court where you can eat. I bought tuna here, it was delicious but not amazing. The tea was rich and tasty. The portion size was elegant, so it wasn't enough. After finishing the meal, I ordered more from another shop. The price might be a bit high due to it being a tourist area.

Location: Tsukiji Market Amount: 2,000 yen Space: Food court Payment: Cash Review: I ordered the seasonal "Tekka" for 2,000 yen. The fish was thick and fresh, and I enjoyed it in perfect weather on the terrace. I thought it would be served in about 5 minutes since it's just a food court, but it took around 15 minutes, probably because there were many orders. I would like to come back here again. I wanted some energy so I came back to this place, looked at the menu at the counter, and decided to go with the medium fatty tuna and leek miso soup for a little luxury. I was given a buzzer and waited at my seat. Soon enough, my buzzer went off and I went to the counter to pick up my order. My first impression was that the place was small. I tried the medium fatty tuna first and it was quite delicious, but the fatty tuna didn't have much flavor and felt a bit tough. It seems like it wasn't cut properly. I had a good impression of the taste from my previous visit, so I was disappointed. It might be okay for some people, but I would hesitate to recommend this place for fatty tuna.

I visited the food court Fish Market Dining at the Tsukiji Odawarabashi Building. I ordered the seasonal Tekka bowl for 1,500 yen around 11:30 am. I enjoyed eating in the spacious open-air area. The bowl was made with bluefin tuna from Sanbu, Aomori, sourced from a tuna wholesaler at Toyosu Market. The thickly sliced tuna and the charm of the new and clean facility made for a delightful lunch experience. Thank you for the meal.

It was like a food stall village in the commercial facility that was located in the outer market area of Tsukiji. There were various types of restaurants serving not only seafood but also noodles and Western dishes. When you come to Tsukiji, there is a compulsion to eat tuna, whether there is a market or not, so I ordered the tuna bowl "Shuntekka @1500 yen" at this restaurant. It was a food court style where you pay in advance and wait for a buzzer to collect your order. When the dish arrived, there were slices of tuna that seemed reasonable for the price. In terms of appearance, it would have been better if there were more red surface area. The green and pickled ginger make it look cheaper. The taste was decent, not to the extent of insisting that tuna is only good at Tsukiji, but it was worth the price.

I had some errands nearby and my companion's meal was not ready yet, so I was told to order something here. We went our separate ways, and this was my first time at this place. The opening time was later compared to other restaurants, so it was my first time here. I looked at the menu at the counter and decided to go with the maguro (tuna) donburi in the top right corner, and also ordered negima soup. I was given a buzzer and waited at my seat. I didn't have to wait long before the buzzer went off and I received my order. The donburi seemed small for the price. I started eating right away. It didn't taste like it was made with fresh ingredients, but it was decent. The negima soup was also okay, and the portion was small so I finished it quickly. The taste was not bad, but considering the price, it felt a bit expensive. However, I think it serves its purpose as a food court option, so in that sense, it's not too bad.

I went during my lunch break, so I didn't have much time, but it seemed surprisingly popular as there were several groups waiting. I asked how long it would take halfway through, and it seemed faster after that. I was able to eat plenty of tuna and was satisfied.

"Tekkaya Hiei" opened in Tsukiji in August this year. It is a direct-operated store of the tuna wholesale store "Hiei" established in 1927. The location is on the main street, on the 3rd floor of the "Tsukiji Uogashi Odawara Bridge Building" in the "Uogashi Shokudo" food court. It is located in the same place as other famous Tsukiji shops such as "Odawara" and "Toritoh". While other shops also handle tuna, this place offers 100% fresh tuna, not frozen. The main menu is as follows: - "Toro Hon Tekka" 3,200 yen * Premium fatty tuna and medium fatty tuna - "Hon Tekka" 2,500 yen * Premium fatty tuna and lean tuna - "Shun Tekka" 1,500 yen * Tuna that is in season at that time - "Jou Butsu Tekka" 1,800 yen * Various cuts of fresh tuna - "Jou Akami Tekka" 2,000 yen * Premium lean tuna - "Hon Tekka" 2,500 yen The signature menu of this restaurant is the fresh lean tuna and medium fatty tuna. It comes with miso soup and tea. The non-frozen texture of the lean tuna is firm and not watery at all. It is tender without any sinew, and a very good quality tuna. The medium fatty tuna has just the right amount of fat, and melts silky smooth on the tongue. The quality here is comparable to what you would find at a sushi restaurant, but at a much more reasonable price. Even though the market has moved to Toyosu, there are still many seafood bowl shops in Tsukiji, but this place comes highly recommended. The food court dining space is spacious with dividers, and you can also eat outside.

Visited Tsukiji Market. Since it was the middle of the long weekend, most shops were closed, so I went to a fish market restaurant that was open. I was intrigued by the word "fresh tuna" and decided to order the "Tekkakaya-sanjo" for 1,800 yen. Tuna in Tokyo is expensive... The dish consisted of various cuts of fresh tuna on top of vinegar rice. The pieces were large and delicious, and I was very satisfied with the meal! The warm tea they served was also a nice touch. Thank you for the meal.
