Had a dinner gathering at Adan in Izumigakuji after 2 months. The sashimi and boiled octopus today were especially delicious. The Okinawan yakisoba, which was not available last time I visited, was back and it was still delicious. The mapo tofu was also tasty. Even though I always try to be moderate in ordering, I ended up ordering too much again today and ended up with a full stomach. I visited for my wife's birthday. The sashimi platter included (bigfin reef squid, bonito (lightly seared and red meat), chicken grunt, Japanese halfbeak, sea bream), jako tofu, shrimp surimi fritters, sesame tofu, fried bean curd with egg and clam and sansho pepper rice, miso soup, pickles. For dessert, there was tiramisu and almond jelly. We had Orion beer, sweet citrus sour, shochu on the rocks. A candle was provided as a service for the dessert. Thank you very much.

In the past, there was a unique restaurant called Coolies Creek in Shirokan. It was located in a warehouse-like building and served ethnic cuisine. Although the building is now gone due to redevelopment, I recently discovered that there is a similar restaurant near Sengakuji Temple. Upon visiting, I found a calm and sophisticated atmosphere behind a nondescript wooden door in a residential area. The restaurant is based on Okinawan cuisine with a slightly ethnic twist. I ordered dishes like Burdock Sesame Salad, Sashimi Assortment, Burnt Miso, and Spring Rolls. Each dish had a unique and interesting flavor profile, blending Okinawan and Southeast Asian influences. The staff were friendly and made the dining experience enjoyable. This restaurant is best suited for intimate gatherings rather than large groups.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Sengakuji Temple, this hidden gem of a restaurant serves creative dishes with Okinawan cuisine as its focus. It has a cute interior spread across three floors. It's recommended to make a reservation as it was fully booked when my friend and I visited together. We ordered dishes such as freshly boiled octopus, spinach and mushroom salad, mashed sweet potato and shrimp fritters, among others. The Akashi direct delivery natural sea bream rice was a bit pricey but delicious. The menu had a variety of unique dishes, and the drinks were also very good. It's a great place to hang out with friends and I would love to visit again.

I was so engrossed that I forgot to take photos, but the steamed octopus was delicious. The sesame dressing was also perfectly seasoned and went well with drinks. I tried the recommended fried pork, which was crispy and tasty, but as someone who prefers juicy fried food, it didn't quite suit my taste. The sea bream rice was lightly seasoned and slightly low in moisture. I couldn't finish it all, so I took it home as a souvenir. Overall, the prices are slightly on the higher side, but considering the calm area near Sengaku-ji Temple and its proximity to the station, it is a convenient and good restaurant to visit.

A hidden gem of a restaurant that used to be in Mita. It has now moved to Izumigadake Temple, and I hadn't visited in a while, but this time I went with a group of like-minded people, including regular customers. The modern building in a residential area has an Asian colonial style, maintaining a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of the old farmhouse. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, making it hard to choose. Based on Okinawan cuisine, with a fusion of Japanese, Chinese, and Asian flavors. We started with Orion beer to cheers. The mashed taro fritters with salt were deliciously crispy. A must-order dish is the fried pork with curry flavor, a perfect blend of spices and sweetness. The grilled octopus with a squeeze of kabosu was a perfect beer snack. Stir-fried Kyoto white cabbage with dried scallops had a gentle and delicious taste. The Goya champuru was subtly seasoned, highlighting the bitterness of the Goya, sweetness of bean sprouts, and umami of pork. The spicy stir-fried shrimp with nam pla had an addictive Asian taste. The anago rice in a pot was simple yet well-balanced. We started with beer, then moved on to white wine, and finally red wine, enjoying the deepening autumn night. Thank you for the delicious meal.

During the state of emergency declaration, the restaurant is still open for limited hours from 11:30 to 20:00, but they have resumed operations. Today's menu was mapo eggplant and homemade shumai with rice set (rice, miso soup, side dish, pickles). The mapo eggplant had cilantro topping, which added a nice accent. The homemade shumai had a homemade feel, with a meaty and juicy texture. The side dish was marinated tuna. You can get seconds of rice.

After moving, I finally visited Adan again. I love their fried pork, sliced greens, and sea bream rice. The fried pork is spicy with thick pork loin and crispy coating. The sliced greens are thinly cut, juicy, and gently seasoned. And the sea bream rice is cooked in a clay pot with a whole fish. I highly recommend trying these three dishes.

I heard that the lunch service has resumed this month, so I visited the restaurant right away. The menu seems quite different from before, with a focus on Thai cuisine. Considering the evening menu, I decided to start with some side dishes - I ordered the tofu croquette set with three small side dishes, while my wife ordered a combination of two types of curry. The food was served in about 10 minutes. The side dishes included potato salad, octopus and seaweed vinegar, and konjac - all homemade and comforting. The main dish, tofu croquette, was crispy and freshly fried. However, what I really enjoyed here was the rice and miso soup. The rice was shiny and slightly sweet, delicious enough to eat on its own. The miso soup had a rich broth and was clearly made with care. I heard that they resumed lunch service due to the impact of COVID-19, but I hope they continue even after things settle down. By the way, they also serve dinner on Sundays starting this year.

I was imagining a lively Okinawan cuisine restaurant, but it turned out to be a sophisticated place with a playful atmosphere for adults. Located down a narrow one-way street, past the resting place of the Akō rōshi at Sōgen-ji Temple, the restaurant has a modest sign and building that may be easily missed even by taxi drivers. The interior layout is interesting, with different seating options on each floor connected by stairs. There are counters, private rooms, and tables, making it versatile for different occasions. However, despite its hidden charm, the restaurant lacks standout features in terms of both food and drinks, making it unsuitable for repeat visits for business meetings or dates. The tai-meshi served in a clay pot at the end was decent in appearance but not particularly delicious. There wasn't any dish worth taking a photo of. Being close to Shinagawa, it could be a good choice for giving friends from out of town or newly arrived guests a cultural shock at an affordable price. However, taking a well-informed adult there might lead to disappointment.
