After seeing it featured on Best Gourmet, we visited this restaurant during our trip. Overall, the quality was very high, and everything we ordered was excellent. The yakisoba was crispy, and the seasoning was a fresh taste for those from Kansai.

For lunch, they only serve yakisoba or yakisoba noodles. I had only ever tried yakisoba at festivals or homemade, but the yakisoba at this teppanyaki restaurant was on a different level... so delicious. I wonder if they use Worcestershire sauce? The flavor is completely different from THE sauce flavor. You can choose between thin noodles or thick noodles for the yakisoba. This time, I chose thick noodles. They were chewy and delicious. The portion sizes come in small, medium, and large, and the large portion was huge... it's about twice the size of the small portion.

The restaurant seems to be popular among local salarymen, as it was bustling with reserved salarymen, nearby salarymen who popped in, and regular elderly customers. It looks like they specialize in yakisoba for lunch! I had planned to go after making a reservation, but had to cancel on the day of due to a confirmed COVID infection, so I decided to have a rematch!! I definitely wanted to try the Ebi Shinjo-yaki and Wagyu Sirloin Steak. The Ebi Shinjo (1 piece for 420 yen) is made of shrimp paste wrapped in a crispy bread and grilled to perfection. The Wagyu Sirloin Steak was juicy with fat! It was a bit heavy for me, as I prefer something lighter. But I guess everyone loves this kind of meat! The well-marbled meat for 1980 yen is quite a bargain, right?! The yakisoba in a small size (I think 420 yen) had a unique texture with crispy noodles. And the alcohol was cheap but strong! It's so down-to-earth! Awesome, right?! It was so much fun catching up with my partner whom I hadn't seen due to the COVID infection, and we ended up having a great time chatting. My partner, who usually only has one drink, ended up having three drinks haha. Even though we've been together for 30 years, I wonder why drinking and chatting with this person is so enjoyable (≧▽≦)

I saw it in some media and decided to try it out. We ordered a variety of dishes a la carte. Grilled squid, shrimp shinjo mochi, cheese mentaiko, pork grilled yakisoba, and more. They cook it right in front of you on a hot plate. It's fun to watch while drinking and chatting with friends. Everything was delicious. The shrimp shinjo, a specialty of the restaurant, was crispy and tasty. It was so good that I wanted seconds. The yakisoba was also delicious with its chewy noodles and sauce. It really goes well with beer! I feel like I could come here alone anytime. I'd like to come back again. It was a wonderful restaurant.

In conclusion, if you go, you will understand. This bustling restaurant offers a menu with prices similar to high-end establishments and the taste is top-notch. Reservations are a must at this popular spot. By the time I was heading towards the exit, I felt a level of satisfaction that made me excited. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced at this cozy teppanyaki restaurant. Located a 5-minute walk from the Tsukuba Express Shin-Okachimachi Station A1 exit. First visit to Taruya Teppanyaki in Inaricho at 20:15 on a weekday. The unique teppanyaki counter with 8 seats and 4-person tables, with a couple in their 40s running the place. The atmosphere is filled with 80s hit songs playing in the background. The total bill came to 7800 yen for: Steamed chicken banbanji salad, shrimp shingyo, boiled thick noodles, yakisoba, white fish with tartar sauce and breadcrumbs, and wagyu beef dice steak. Each dish was high-quality with a unified taste profile, showcasing the restaurant's excellence. The wagyu beef dice steak, cooked on extremely low heat for 30 minutes, was still rare inside, showcasing the skill of the chef. The staff even covered our jackets with cloth to prevent them from smelling like food. I wanted to take some food home, but they advised against it due to the taste deteriorating over time. The dedication to quality over profit was admirable. Despite feeling like I could eat more, I ordered an additional wagyu beef dice steak. Overall, this restaurant is amazing in every aspect. It left me wanting more, even as I was leaving. It's truly an exceptional dining experience. As of May 2023, the restaurant has a rating of 3.44 on Tabelog.

I had been curious about this place for a long time since it's close to my home, so I casually went for a walk with my boyfriend in our regular room wear to this izakaya. The interior had tatami mats and a great atmosphere, with beautiful middle-aged ladies and suit-wearing gentlemen as customers... Wait, did I dress inappropriately????? I panicked, but the owner casually started a conversation with us, so I felt comfortable and it was a nice place to be in. The dishes we ordered were: leek tamagoyaki, grilled calf tongue with salt, shrimp shinjo, potato with chili sauce, hot egg salad, and meat. The leek tamagoyaki was so delicious that it felt like it melted in your mouth... It was amazing... The shrimp shinjo was wrapped in toast cubes and grilled, "It's our most popular, but also the most time-consuming dish to make," the smiling owner explained. The meal as a whole was something I don't usually eat, but it was comforting and enjoyable. The meat was even more delicious than the wonderful customer we were dining with, and they generously treated us to more food when we were already full! Can you believe you can eat such great meat at an izakaya? It feels like it might become popular after being featured on TV, and I would be sad if I couldn't get a table in the future. It was delicious!

About a 5-minute walk from Ueno Station, Tetsu Ita Yaki Taruya in Taito-ku, Tokyo offers a lively teppanyaki experience. This popular local teppanyaki restaurant serves delicious yakisoba with a chewy texture at wallet-friendly prices. The freshly made hot yakisoba is surprisingly delicious, and the regular size portion at 600 yen offers a satisfyingly generous serving. In addition to various noodle dishes like boiled thick noodles, steamed thin noodles, and spicy miso stir-fried udon, you can also enjoy a variety of teppanyaki dishes such as grilled veal tongue with salt, rice cake with mentaiko cheese, and potatoes with chili sauce. Highly recommended is the boiled thick noodles topped with a fried egg. Sprinkle generously with the restaurant's original fried garlic, and the creamy taste of the runny yolk, the savory yakisoba sauce, and the crispy fried garlic create a devilishly delicious combination. A definite repeat-worthy meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

I went to Chengdu-kan to buy the sauce for drooling chicken (*´▽`*) On the way, I saw a teppanyaki restaurant that seemed to have a good lunch reputation, so I decided to stop by. The restaurant, "Teppanyaki Taryuya," is marked by a large sign for "yakisoba." They offer yakisoba and yakiudon for lunch. According to the reviews, you can choose between thick noodles and thin noodles, and it seems that thick noodles are popular, but I wonder if I should go with thin noodles? As I entered the restaurant, I saw the owner cooking alone. There were a couple of empty seats at the counter, but they soon filled up. I helped myself to water at the counter and ordered yakisoba with thin noodles, topped with a fried egg, and wakame soup. When I placed my order, the owner skillfully prepared each serving one by one. He would always ask, "Is it okay if I add dried shrimp?" which I appreciated as I have allergies to consider. After serving the previous customers, he started cooking my yakisoba. Watching a dish being prepared just for you right in front of your eyes is such a great moment, isn't it (´∀`*)ウフフ First, I tried the wakame soup that was served, which was filled with plenty of wakame seaweed and floating pieces of wheat gluten. I took a sip and it was quite garlicky! The punchy wakame soup was delicious♡ Then, the "yakisoba with thin noodles and a fried egg" was served. I tried it as it is, and it was different from what I had imagined - the noodles were chewy and had a crispy texture in some parts, very delicious! The vegetables were plentiful and the seasoning was just right, not too salty. I thought it might be a bit bland, but it was actually perfectly seasoned and very tasty. I sprinkled some ao-nori and added some pickled ginger, which made it taste more like authentic yakisoba (´∀`*)ウフフ I also added some garlic chips and a little mayonnaise as recommended in the reviews. It was delicious, but I think the standard yakisoba flavor is more comforting. The half-cooked fried egg yolk was creamy, and dipping the yakisoba in it made it even more delicious. I finished the meal by adding some chili oil for a spicy kick (`・ω・´) Yummy! I drank up the delicious wakame soup in one go, and my stomach was full♪ If you want to eat a larger portion, you might want to go for the medium size. By the way, the large size consists of 2 servings. On my way back, I stopped by Ueno Station and saw a collaboration display of "Sakura and Panda." As I was admiring it, I thought, "I should go see the pandas," and headed to Ueno Zoo alone. It had been a while, but I actually had a lot of fun at the zoo (´∀`*)ウフフ The panda line was divided into "mother and child pandas" and "Li Li," and the Li Li line was much less crowded, so I decided to go there as the name was cute. When I arrived, I saw the male panda, Li Li, tossing bamboo and showing a rather wild side. It was different from the cute image of a panda that I had imagined, but oh well, I saw a panda, so it's fine. (laughs) Another satisfying dayーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー!!!!!

I randomly walked in while waiting for a massage. The exterior had an old-fashioned charm and a nostalgic atmosphere. The word "teppanyaki" caught my attention. They had everything from okonomiyaki and yakisoba to meat dishes. Just as described. They had meat dishes and yakisoba. I ordered randomly - tongue, steak cubes, and yakisoba. The place had limited seating, so it seemed to be run by one person. The tongue and steak cubes were more authentic and delicious than I expected!! The yakisoba had different noodle options, which was interesting. The crispy texture was different from others and quite nice. And the mochi cheese mentaiko. This was incredibly delicious!

During the day, only the counter is used for seating. Customers sit one seat apart, so if there are two or more people, they will have to sit separately. The menu includes boiled thick noodles, steamed thin noodles, and spicy miso stir-fried udon, with options for regular, medium, or large portions. I ordered the thick noodles, regular portion for 550 yen. The cooking process involves stir-frying vegetables such as bean sprouts and cabbage, then adding the noodles. Halfway through, they ask if you want to add dried sakura shrimp. Since the noodles are already boiled, the dish is ready quickly. It is transferred to a plate and topped with additional sauce before being served. Before eating, sprinkle seaweed and fried garlic labeled as "highly recommended" on top. The sauce is just right, not too thick or too thin. It can even be eaten as a side dish with rice. I enjoyed the dish without getting tired of it and finished it completely. My stomach felt just right afterwards. Next time, I will try adding a fried egg on top.

I visited "Teppanyaki Taruya" around 11 o'clock in June 2022. Located about a 3-4 minute walk from Ueno Station, this place serves yakisoba and yakisoba noodles during lunchtime. The small restaurant had no other customers when I arrived. The lunchtime service was handled by a rough-looking male chef who seemed to be working alone. I sat at the counter and ordered the "Boiled Thick Noodle Yakisoba (regular size)" for ¥550, with an additional "Sunny-Side-Up Egg" for ¥50 and "Rice" for ¥100. When asked if it was okay to add sakura shrimp during cooking, I agreed. After a 10-minute wait, the dish was served. It was yakisoba with a sunny-side-up egg on top, accompanied by Korean seaweed and pickled radish with rice on the side. The regular size yakisoba had a surprisingly generous portion. The thick noodles fried in a tangy yakisoba sauce had a chewy texture that was enjoyable. I savored the crunch of bean sprouts, cabbage, and the flavor of sakura shrimp. Customizing the taste with mayonnaise and green seaweed on the table was also nice. The deliciousness of yakisoba from a teppanyaki restaurant was evident. Enjoying yakisoba with rice is a nice touch of Kansai style. The size of the pickled radish was just right. Breaking the yolk of the sunny-side-up egg at the right moment added a mild flavor to the yakisoba, which was delightful when paired with the Korean seaweed-wrapped rice. The perfect balance of B-class taste was there. The pricing was also convenient for nearby businessmen. I had a great time enjoying yakisoba at a good value, so I look forward to trying their teppanyaki dishes at night at "Taruya".

The group of one woman and two men, who seemed to have enjoyed sake and grilled chicken, made their way to the station while wandering around. A passerby, who seemed familiar with the area, stopped and muttered, "It's good to come back here after so many years." The man, who seemed to attract women, was surprised by the fact that he had been here before and excitedly suggested, "Let's go!" Persuading the woman, they headed to the restaurant. Upon arrival, they sat at the teppanyaki grill table and looked over the menu. The atmosphere was cozy and the prices were reasonable, making the man eager to try the food. The previous customers left, leaving the group alone in the restaurant. The man recommended dishes like "Shrimp Shinjo" and they enjoyed various items like Goya and Spam stir-fry, grilled oysters, chorizo, ginkgo nuts, and yakisoba. The teppanyaki cooking in front of them was exciting and the food was delicious. As they drank, ate, and chatted, new customers arrived, and the conversation turned to local topics. The man tried to join in, being a former resident of the area, but the woman's lively conversation with the newcomers kept him out. Reflecting on the restaurant, they appreciated the well-crafted drinks, unique dishes, and affordable prices. The attentive yet reserved owner added to the charm of the place. As they left, the man felt a tug at his heart but was grateful for the woman's invitation and the man's recommendation of the wonderful restaurant. It had truly been a great day filled with good company and good food.

I visited this restaurant after leaving Keisuke and it was my second stop of the night. I knew about this place as I passed by, but in my mind, I thought, "It's just a teppanyaki place, probably just okonomiyaki level." However, I was surprised when I actually visited! The restaurant had sunken kotatsu seating and a teppanyaki stage, it was such a lovely place! It felt like watching a live performance right in front of you, so enjoyable. I ordered ginnan, chorizo, goya champuru, plump oysters, and crispy shrimp, all of which were delicious. Highly recommend the shrimp fritters, they were amazing! The yakisoba was also very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were very kind and the atmosphere was great. Later on, a refined couple and their son, who turned out to be my daughter's classmate, arrived. It was a surprise to find such a connection. We ended up having a lively conversation about our kids' middle school days. It was wonderful to see the couple enjoying their time together. And to top it off, I found out that their company has a connection with my company too, which was another surprise! The next day, when I told my daughter about this, she scolded me saying, "Parents from ○○ Middle School are just like everyone else, so don't get too excited. When you drink locally, go with locals." I have learned my lesson and will reflect on it.

I visited a ramen shop on the way back from Sanji-san Street. I asked the master for a recommendation for my first visit, and he said it's half-and-half. I ordered the steamed thin noodles with a medium portion and a fried egg on top. The master cooked it skillfully on the counter's iron plate, and it was satisfying with a firm texture. I was recommended to add fried garlic chips, and I also added seaweed for extra flavor. The cost performance was great at only 750 yen. I told the master that I'll try the thick noodles next time and paid for my meal.

I moved from Inari-cho to the direction of Higashi-Ueno for lunch. I didn't have much time, so I noticed a sign for yakisoba and decided to go into the restaurant called Taruya. The interior of the restaurant has a teppanyaki counter and table seats, but during lunchtime, only the counter is available. The quiet chef handles everything alone, so I ordered the boiled thick noodles yakisoba for 550 yen, a small bowl of rice for 100 yen, and a fried egg for 50 yen. For the yakisoba, you can choose between boiled thick noodles, steamed thin noodles, or gochujang yakisoba. The thin noodles that the guys next to me were eating were brown and chewy, but the thick noodles were freshly boiled and sizzling on the teppan. I was asked if I had a shellfish allergy before adding sakura shrimp as a topping. It was served in about 7-8 minutes. The rice came with pickled vegetables and two sheets of seaweed, which was a nice touch. There were plenty of condiments on the table, such as garlic chips, shichimi chili pepper, mayonnaise, seaweed, black pepper, and sauce, allowing for customization. The yakisoba was moist and chewy, and after 15 minutes, I had to loosen my belt. Payment is cash only.

Boiled thick noodles yakisoba, regular size, 550 yen I had lunch in Inari-cho. Today, I was busy with work and couldn't take a lunch break easily. Just after 1 pm, I managed to take a short break and headed for a late lunch. I was planning to go to Tokyo Buta Bazaar, but I saw a notice that their lunch service ended on June 17th. Feeling a bit disappointed, I decided to try a yakisoba place that caught my eye on the way. The sign said I could get a regular size for 550 yen, and I was particularly interested in the boiled thick noodles. So, I changed my plans and visited this place on a whim. I arrived at 1:35 pm, and there was one customer inside, with no one else after me as lunchtime was ending. As soon as I entered, I was asked if it was okay to only make thick noodles, but since I was aiming for thick noodles, it was no problem for me. I ordered the boiled thick noodles yakisoba in a regular size. I was seated at the counter right in front of the teppan where the owner cooked. The sound and aroma of the cooking stimulated my appetite as I had missed lunchtime by quite a bit. It arrived in about 7 minutes. The ingredients included pork, cabbage, bean sprouts, dried shrimp, and pickled ginger as toppings. I started by topping it with seaweed and mayonnaise. The thick noodles were extremely chewy with a firm texture, perfect for those who like firm noodles. Although it looked like the flavor would be strong, it actually felt a bit light to me. I realized something was off and stirred from the bottom, and the flavor returned. I added bonito flakes for a flavor change halfway through. I noticed later that the side menu fried egg was only 50 yen, so cheap! Next time, I'll definitely add it as a topping. There was plenty of pork and the amount of noodles in the regular size was satisfying. Ah, I'm so full. It was delicious.Visited for lunch on June 26, 2020 - Rating: 3.43

This is a teppanyaki restaurant in the Higashi-Ueno area, run by a single owner. We visited with 4 people this time, aiming to conquer all the menu items. We had about 12-13 dishes, including the famous Ebi Shinjou which was absolutely delicious. It takes some time, so it's best to order early. Watching the owner carefully prepare each dish and then enjoying the wonderful flavors is truly amazing. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

I visited Teppanyaki Taruya, a restaurant that opens at 11:30 am from Tuesday to Friday for lunch. I couldn't decide between the yakisoba with thick noodles for 550 yen or the one with thin noodles for the same price, so I ordered both along with consomme soup for an extra 100 yen. The owner started cooking right in front of me on the iron plate. He asked if I was okay with dried shrimp, then mixed in pork, cabbage, bean sprouts, and sauce to finish the yakisoba, which he then served on a plate. The yakisoba with thin noodles had a crispy texture in some parts, while the one with thick noodles was chewy. I enjoyed adding toppings like seaweed, bonito flakes, and mayonnaise from the condiment cart at the counter to change up the flavors. The consomme soup and pickled ginger were a delicious way to cleanse the palate. Overall, it was a tasty meal that I enjoyed.

Deep-steamed, thin noodles, yakisoba (regular size) for 550 yen. This is a teppanyaki restaurant, but for lunch they offer three options: yakisoba with thick noodles, yakisoba with thin noodles, and kimchi-flavored yakisoba. I arrived around 12:40 on a weekday and entered the restaurant. During lunchtime, they only serve customers at the counter. The counter has a unique shape, like a hook screw, and can seat up to 9 people. There was only one seat left, so I squeezed in and sat down. The restaurant was quite crowded, with all male customers except for me. The chef was the only staff member working. Self-serve water was available, with glasses and a pitcher on two tables near the counter. I waited until the busy chef looked my way to take my order. The chef cooked the yakisoba on a circular iron plate in front of me. The ingredients included cabbage, bean sprouts, fried egg, and pork. The chef even asked if I was okay with dried shrimp, which was a nice touch. The dish was ready in less than 10 minutes after I arrived. The noodles were firm and had a nice crispy texture from being well-cooked. The flavor was just right, not too strong or too bland. I enjoyed the meal and finished it completely. It was amazing to get such a delicious dish for only 550 yen. I noticed that everyone except for one person next to me ordered the yakisoba with thin noodles. I didn't pay attention to the difference in cooking time between the thin and thick noodles, but I wondered if the deep-steamed thin noodles took longer to cook. I might try the thick noodles next time, or even add a fried egg for an extra 50 yen. Overall, I will definitely come back here whenever I crave yakisoba.

Thursday. I heard "There's a great teppanyaki restaurant" and went to "Taruya" in Ueno. A regular customer made a reservation for 5 people. Just like at "SAM'S" in Okinawa, we watched the chef cooking right in front of us. It's rare to see such a large teppan in a small restaurant in Ueno. The teppan dishes, prepared with care, were all delicious. We couldn't resist ordering a variety of dishes. The most popular dish was the shrimp shinjo. Coated in breadcrumbs, the shrimp was full of flavor. The meat dishes were also full of juicy goodness. Thank you for recommending this great restaurant. I will definitely visit again.
