I was taken to a fiercely competitive yakitori area by a friend who is very knowledgeable about yakitori! The nearest station is Ueno-Hirokoji Station on the Ginza Line, right? In a narrow alley just a 3-4 minute walk from Yushima and Ueno, a large "yakitori" lantern serves as a landmark! The shop sources its chicken from a chicken wholesaler in Tsukiji every morning, serving fresh chicken. The interior of the shop has about 20 seats, including tables and a counter. Let's start with a bitter drink to relax~☆ At the glass-covered grill, the delicious yakitori of the previous customers is maturing nicely. First, order the recommended assortment and then move on to the quick menu. - Wasabi-pickled nagaimo (450 yen): Crispy and sticky spicy mountain yam! It's the kind of dish that makes you worry about drinking too much alcohol! - Recommended 6-piece course (1300 yen): The lightly flavored sasami is full of umami! And the tender hatsu! I always thought that you had to chew on hatsu, but I was amazed to find out that it's super delicious when eaten rare! The juicy bonjiri oozes with delicious fat! The rich flavor of seseri! Fluffy tsukune-chan♡ The course ends with liver in sauce. It seems like it's been heated for 5 seconds after graduating from rare. The texture that is not too raw is right in my strike zone! - Asparagus roll, tomato roll, umeshiso mille-feuille (each 240 yen): Crispy and youthful asparagus! The tomato, which is hot to the touch, has increased sweetness! The combination of umeshiso is the strongest unusual skewer! - Shrimp and quail with shiso leaf skewer (280 yen): The shrimp is plump! The grilling of the combination skewer is exquisite! - Seared firefly squid (500 yen): I'm in old man mode now, haha. It's the best partner for sake (*´▽`*) - "Nakayoshi" (500 yen): The squid version of "chitarra," a Aomori specialty. It's the kind of dish that makes you worry about drinking too much! - Mountain jellyfish (380 yen): In the end, I return to the refreshing type. The crunchy texture is addictive! The sake I had was: - Toyo Bijin "Ippo" Yamadanishiki - Special Junmai Sake "Nabeshima" Sanjurokuman-goku The yakitori was excellent, and the snack menu was very extensive! The shop, selected by an expert who has exhausted all the yakitori shops, was amazing! Next time, I will definitely bring someone along to show off~(‾ー‾)b

At 1 AM, I went to the local chicken restaurant Gokusan. They are open until 2 AM, so I was feeling determined. Even at this late hour, the restaurant was full. It must be a popular place. I'm looking forward to trying the local chicken, such as Hichinai chicken, which I saw advertised here and there. It's nice that you can order a la carte instead of a set course. Today's order: - Grated daikon radish with chicken thigh sashimi - Chicken liver pate - Potato salad with chicken and wasabi dip - Miso-marinated cream cheese - Gizzard - Heart - Tomato wrapped in chicken thigh - White chicken liver - Chicken soup Drinks: - Draft beer - Highball - Lemon sour with Sakura Oi (Japanese gin) - Rare cuts of Sakura Oi chicken There were many items on the menu, including Solires, Seseri, and chicken ramen, that I wanted to try, but unfortunately, they were sold out. The yakitori I had at this late hour was delicious. I think it would be a great place to visit for an after-party. The price was reasonable. Thank you for the meal.

I went to "Gokuu" which is located in a slightly intricate place, and got a little lost. The interior of the restaurant is dark, with a counter, tables, and tatami seating. Although I had made a reservation for 2 at the counter, I was happy to be seated in the tatami area on the day of my visit. The appetizer consisted of mountain jellyfish with grated daikon, which had a unique and bitter taste. The raw liver was very creamy and delicious with a hint of sesame oil. The grilled chicken skewers were perfectly crispy and cooked just right. The seasoning was also very good! This was my third visit, and once again, the food was delicious! The restaurant is not too crowded, making it perfect for a meal with 2 to 4 people. Thank you for the meal! I will visit again!

I visited a highly competitive yakitori area in Ueno Yushima, where many young customers were present. The portion sizes are large and reasonably priced, so our group of older ladies can eat to our hearts' content. It's a great stop for when you suddenly crave yakitori.

It had been a while since I last visited, but the bad smell that was there before was gone! It was very comfortable~♡ The food is delicious, so I am likely to visit here again! I love the tsukune here! The round tsukune is also delicious, but I prefer the ones made in the restaurant! The sauce here is just right! However, the salt is a bit light for me since I drink alcohol, so I prefer it a bit stronger. Some people like light flavors, but I would be very happy if they could at least have salt and pepper on the table. The avocado and shrimp tartare was also delicious, but the best today was definitely the soboro don. I felt like adding a raw egg yolk and it would be perfect, even if there was an additional charge for it. I would love to see a menu option for with or without egg! It was served with sansho pepper and it was delicious!!! Thank you for the meal! ✨

This is a review for the yakitori restaurant "Jidoriya Gokuh" near Ueno Hirokoji. The food here is incredibly delicious and they are open until late, making it a great spot for a casual drink. They have a wide variety of choices and I highly recommend it to everyone!

I was lured in by the smell of charcoal and the menu, and decided to enter the restaurant! I ordered yakitori and confirmed that my good restaurant radar did not fail me. They had a selection of Yamazaki, Hibiki, and Hakushu whiskey, so I ordered a Yamazaki highball for a cheers. I ordered the fresh liver that I could see from the counter, and it was cooked perfectly at medium-rare with crispy skin. The quail eggs were also delicious with a runny yolk. The alcohol went down smoothly. Next time, I want to try their liver sashimi.

When I called on the same day, there was a seat available so I visited. They had liver sashimi! But when I looked closely, it was liver sashimi style, haha. However, it was almost raw and delicious! It was served with a sauce that coated it well instead of sesame oil, and it was really tasty. The salt and sauce are predetermined and served, you don't get to choose. The cucumber tataki had a very light flavor, maybe it was wasabi pickled yam? This was incredibly delicious and I had seconds, haha. There wasn't a standout among the other yakitori, but there were no disappointments.

<Recommended for people like this> ■ Those who want to eat popular yakitori in Ueno ■ Those who want to enjoy not only yakitori but also side dishes I entered the restaurant at 7:00 PM. The interior was almost full, and I was seated at the counter. By 8:00 PM, it was completely full. 【Appetizer】 * Chikuzen stew - Chikuzen stew with daikon, carrots, and chicken. The chicken was fatty with a strong flavor. The broth had a strong umami taste, very clear and delicious. The daikon was cooked until it became tender and delicious. * Grated daikon with soy sauce - Coarsely grated daikon with soy sauce. It had a good balance of spiciness and bitterness, refreshing the palate after eating the skewers. 【Chicken and Wasabi-marinated Potato Salad】520 yen - A creative potato salad with eggs, potatoes, mayonnaise, and a moderate amount of wasabi marinade. The addition of chicken meat added a strong flavor. It had a refreshing and light deliciousness, without the heaviness of mayonnaise. It satisfied all the expectations with the texture of the potatoes, the flavor of the boiled eggs, and the unique taste of wasabi marinade and chicken meat. 【Chicken Thigh Tataki】600 yen - A delightful chicken tataki with plenty of green onions. The chicken was finely cut into dice, providing a good chewiness. The more you chew, the deeper the flavor of the chicken thigh. The skin was seared, and the flesh had a fresh taste with a strong sear aroma. The sauce was soy sauce-based with a strong garlic flavor. The balance of various strong flavors was surprising, and it was so delicious that I wanted to eat it again. 【8 Skewers Course】2,000 yen - A set of 5 chicken skewers, 1 vegetable skewer, 1 creative skewer, and 1 delicious tsukune skewer. - Each skewer had its unique taste and texture, with highlights like the special liver, chicken and wasabi, heart and liver, chicken breast, vegetable skewer with shishito pepper, bonjiri, chicken tail, and homemade raw tsukune. The flavors were well-balanced, satisfying, and delicious. 【Low-temperature Cooked Liver Sashimi】 - The restaurant's special dish, low-temperature cooked liver sashimi, was a delightful experience.

Fried chicken - 570 yen Egg over rice - 480 yen Homemade tsukune (chicken meatballs) - 308 yen Camembert cheese skewers - 380 yen Peppery with no need for honey. Premium liver - 308 yen I think it's really good. Fresh, firm, and tender. Ginger highball - 605 yen Green tea highball - 550 yen You can taste the rich matcha flavor. Visited around 1 am. I stopped by the yakitori restaurant "Jigyoya Goku Ueno-ten" in Okachimachi for the first time in a few years. They have extended their business hours until 4 a.m., so I was able to relax and enjoy the high-quality yakitori skewers and various appetizers. I was particularly surprised by the half-cooked quail skewers! The drinks, like the tricky tomato highball, were also quite tasty. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This restaurant has many rare cuts of meat, and most importantly, the grilling is done exceptionally well. The wasabi with the chicken breast is made with real wasabi, and the bonjiri comes with butter (which is quite delicious). The quail eggs are cooked to perfection. Overall, this yakitori restaurant offers a great balance between cost and quality.

I went for yakitori late at night after work with someone who finishes work late. I tried the liver as it was recommended and it was quite delicious. They had some unique menu items like garlic butter bonjiri and camembert cheese, which was a bit different for a long-established place, but overall it was tasty considering the cost performance. The gingko nuts were especially good. Thank you for the meal!

I went to eat here because I was interested in their tataki! After visiting a museum in Ueno for the first time in a while and feeling exhausted, I came here! The tataki I was looking for was delicious, so I ordered it twice haha. The skewers, soup, and other menu items were also delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by after work for some yakitori. I chose this place because I was craving yakitori. I ordered the yakitori course with 8 skewers and a few other items. The staff was friendly and attentive, which left a good impression on me. The food had a slightly sophisticated touch and tasted delicious. It really goes well with alcohol haha. Personally, I really enjoyed the potato salad. I'm not usually a fan of potato salad, but the one here was really good. The only downside is that the prices are a bit high overall. If they could lower the cost a bit, I would definitely come back more often. Thank you for the meal. I'll definitely visit again.

Yakitori is delicious. The liver is cooked perfectly and as a liver lover, I was happy. However, it takes too long for the food to come out. It may have been busy, but even drinks didn't come. When I called the staff, they just said to wait and didn't come. It's a shame because the food is delicious. It might be okay during late night hours, but I won't be revisiting during peak times.

I felt like eating yakitori and found this place on a website. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with both counter and table seats. I started with a draft beer. The chicken thigh sashimi and fried chicken were delicious with a perfect balance of flavors and a rare texture. The skewers were cooked just right, especially the liver, tender chicken breast, and medium rare meat. The grilled rice ball with plenty of shiso leaves was also tasty. The dessert of red bean and vanilla ice cream was a perfect way to end the meal. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I visited "Jidoriya Goku Ueno Store," located in a small alley about a 5-minute walk from Ueno-Hirokoji Station. The interior of the restaurant was not very spacious, which was nice, and I chose to sit at the counter. I started with a draft beer and was served a dish of what seemed like menma with grated daikon radish on top as a complimentary appetizer. It was surprisingly delicious. I also ordered chicken thigh sashimi, which paired well with the beer. The yakitori, especially the liver and chicken tail, were grilled to perfection over charcoal. The liver, in particular, was exquisite and even those who don't like liver might enjoy it. I ordered various skewers such as chicken thigh, tail, tomato-wrapped, shishito pepper, and heart, as well as grated wasabi-pickled nagaimo (Japanese yam). The drinks, including the famous Midori soda and matcha-infused lemon sour, were unique and interesting. I also ordered the soboro donburi, which was delicious with a side of chicken soup. Overall, it was a very affordable and enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended! Thank you for the meal.

This is Ueno. A yakitori restaurant with a striking red exterior. Upon entering, we were greeted by polite staff and seated at a table. They were thorough with alcohol disinfection, mask-wearing, and maintaining social distance. The menu offers a variety of yakitori, from classic to rare cuts, as well as a wide selection of side dishes. What stood out the most was the extensive lineup of drinks. We ordered while asking for recommendations from the staff. We started with a draft beer toast, then moved on to a Hakushu highball. The chicken thigh tataki, a popular menu item since the establishment, was delicious with plenty of green onions. The chicken liver pate was smooth with no unpleasant smell, making it a hit even for those who don't typically enjoy liver pate. The staff mentioned we could have seconds of bread for the pate, but we refrained to leave room for other dishes. The Gokuh salad with spinach and prosciutto was simple yet refreshing. Then, we began the yakitori course with 8 skewers. The first skewer was liver, which surprisingly melted in the mouth with rich flavor and no unpleasant smell. The second skewer was chicken tenderloin, juicy and refreshing with a hint of wasabi. We switched to sake here, with the staff recommending unique options not on the menu. We tried the Echigo Junmai Ginjo and Yuki-doke Junmai Daiginjo Rose, both of which were delightful. The course continued with heart, skirt, minced chicken, rare cut "furisode," plum and shiso mille-feuille, and finally, ginkgo nut. Each skewer had its own unique taste and texture, making the dining experience truly enjoyable.

The restaurant is located on the first floor of a building just a few minutes from Okachimachi. We started with a Tomato Highball for 580 yen, Ume Plum Wine for 580 yen, and an appetizer for 400 yen (chicken and menma mixed together). We also had Chicken Thigh Tataki for 600 yen and Chicken and Wasabi Pickled Potato Salad for 520 yen to cheers. The chicken tataki was refreshing, and the salad had a nice balance with the wasabi pickles. We ordered a 6-item course for 1300 yen, which included Crispy Gizzards, Salted Seseri (neck meat), and Moon-viewing Tsukune (egg mixed in). The tsukune was juicy and delicious, just like the other dishes. We also tried the rare parts of the chicken, such as Sot-l'y-laisse and Soft Bone, which were both juicy and flavorful. The salt used was a special salt from the Brittany Peninsula in France. Each dish allowed us to enjoy the unique flavors of the chicken. We added Chicken Wings for 290 yen, Shrimp and Quail Egg with Shiso Leaf Skewers for 280 yen, Asparagus Wraps for 240 yen, and Tomato Wraps for 240 yen. We also ordered a special Egg Rice Bowl with Soup for 480 yen, made with high-quality eggs. The Chicken Wings were juicy and delicious, and the Shrimp and Quail Egg skewers were tasty with plump shrimp. The egg rice bowl with bonito flakes was a perfect ending to the meal. Whenever I crave delicious yakitori, I will definitely come back here. This place is a must-visit again.
