This is a yakiniku restaurant in Okachimachi, which was established in 1975. The famous restaurant in Machiya, Shotaien, was founded in 1978, so this restaurant was established a little earlier. Originally, it was a local yakiniku restaurant located a bit away from the station, but it was relocated very close to Okachimachi Station in March 2019. The catchphrase of the restaurant says, "You can enjoy carefully selected A5 rank brand Japanese beef at about 60% of the budget of a high-end restaurant." The restaurant also shows attention to detail in seasoning, using Portuguese sun-dried sea salt and Sicilian rock salt for seasoning the meat. I visited the restaurant and found it to be of very high quality for a local yakiniku restaurant. The quality of the cuts and the knife skills were impressive. The sauce is not overly sweet and the amount put on the meat is just right. The quality of the meat, the cuts, and the seasoning are crucial for yakiniku, and this restaurant excels in all of them. The portions per plate were generous, especially considering the high-quality cuts of rare parts that were mainly served. The Kobe beef kalbi for 1,050 yen is amazing, but the "Cut-off SP" for 1,380 yen offers great value for money. The effective use of the knife for the cut-off meat was also pleasing. The restaurant is very clean, and the smoke exhaust system was perfect. The items I tried this time were: - Motoyama salad 550 yen - Kimchi assortment 750 yen - Thick-cut tongue salt 2,680 yen - Premium three-point assortment 2,880 yen - Cut-off SP 1,380 yen - Kobe beef kalbi 1,050 yen - Hormone 6-point assortment 1,580 yen - Half-size cold noodles 650 yen In terms of pure "taste," the Thick-cut tongue salt was a hit. It is a part that can only be taken from two pieces of beef from one cow, and they use parts from three cows for this dish. It has a very smooth and tender texture with a good amount of fat. The Premium three-point assortment, which is a signature dish, consists of "Misuji 2/600," "Togarashi," and "Sankaku." As a fan of lean meat, I was very satisfied with this assortment. The marbled beef allows you to fully enjoy the essence of yakiniku. The Motoyama salad may look ordinary with corn sprinkled on top, but the homemade dressing with a unique sweetness and acidity is interesting. It is much appreciated as many yakiniku restaurants use ready-made dressings. All the offal dishes were fresh, and I also enjoyed the Hormone 6-point assortment. However, the offal here focuses more on quality than quantity, so it may not be suitable for those who prefer a larger portion of offal compared to meat dishes. The course that includes the Premium three-point assortment and a 2-hour all-you-can-drink option is priced at 5,750 yen, making it convenient for company parties and gatherings.

When it comes to yakiniku in Ueno, Motoyama-san is the place to go. It's a long-standing yakiniku restaurant that has been around for almost 50 years, I think? I heard they relocated closer to JR, which makes it easier to visit. Being in Ueno where parking is strict, having a public parking lot right in front is convenient. Orders are placed using a touch panel, with photos of all items making it easy to choose. They offer assorted platters starting from 2 servings, allowing small groups to enjoy a variety of cuts. I often dine alone at yakiniku restaurants, and having a menu that offers small portions of various cuts is really helpful! Plus, the flexibility to add servings for additional people is great. If a group of 5 orders only 3 servings, they can easily add another serving for one person. The quality of the meat surpasses the price. In areas like Roppongi and Nishi-Azabu, you'd pay about one and a half times more. The Kobe beef kalbi is a must-try. For around 1200 yen including tax, the quantity and taste are exceptional. Even the special cut-offs, which I always order out of curiosity at high-end restaurants, are quite satisfying here. The stone pot yukhoe bibimbap was amazing too! The shiny raw meat of high-quality yukhoe, with plenty of it, is so luxurious! It comes with soup and a generous serving for 2 or more people, making it a good deal. If dining alone, this dish with rice could be a complete dinner! The half size is also available if not in a stone pot, which might be enough for two people. But the fun of crispy rice crust is unique to the stone pot version. Ueno may not be a local area, but the cost-effectiveness here feels much better than my actual local area. The peach sherbet dessert, shaped like a peach, was impressive! The sweet and sour taste was refreshing, and before I knew it, I was full. Motoyama-san was delicious as always! I'm very satisfied.

"Please tell me a delicious yakiniku restaurant." Without hesitation, I would recommend the "Yakiniku Motoyama Main Store"! I went there last night with a friend I hadn't seen in 4 years, and at the entrance, there was a sign that said KOBE BEEF! My friend said it was a restaurant they wanted to try. Kobe beef has a reputation for being extremely expensive, right? This place mainly serves Kobe beef and carefully selected A5 grade brand black wagyu beef. And yet, you can be completely satisfied for less than 10,000 yen, which is impressive. The entrance is hard to find because it's underground, and the atmosphere is different from the upscale feeling inside, more like an izakaya. Don't overlook the words on their website saying, "Enjoy black wagyu at about 60% of the cost of high-end restaurants at this long-established place." I believed in this and it turned out great! The interior has sunken kotatsu-style seating and table seating, and we chose a table. There is an order iPad attached to the wall. First, we toasted with a small beer to combat the heat. Even the small size was huge! The beer and the glass were ice-cold, and it felt good in the stomach. For appetizers, we chose the 6 kinds of namul and the Goma Special Kimchi. The colorful namul and the kimchi covered in plenty of sesame seeds tempted our appetites! We started with the Motoyama Mori, a popular 5-piece set that includes tongue, Kobe beef kalbi, loin, harami, and three-layer pork kalbi. This was delicious! The meat was so flavorful, especially the tongue and Kobe beef kalbi, I loved them! The highlight was the set of 2 slices each of lean jungle meat! (There is also a set of 3 slices each) The beautiful, mesmerizing color of the meat was just stunning. The chef brought us a luxurious 5-piece set in a wooden box, including the Kobe Sansai available that day, and two premium beef brands that the chef personally recommended. You have to try this when you come here. With one bite, the meat melted in your mouth with an incredibly sweet taste of the fat, it was amazing. It was so delicious that it was best eaten with wasabi instead of sauce. We each ordered one more thing we wanted. I didn't hesitate to order the Kobe beef kalbi. For the finale, we had the Stone Bibimbap with Yukhoe! It's a regular stone bibimbap with yukhoe on top, but when you mix it in the hot bowl, it cooks to the perfect doneness. When you come to Yakiniku Motoyama, don't compromise on your budget, eat what you want! That's what I thought on that day. If it's yakiniku, I would definitely want to recommend this place.

During the three-day Obon holiday, I spent time drinking and having a BBQ by the sea in Shonan with about 50 people. It was a lively atmosphere, and I had a hard time remembering who was who (laughs). To properly enjoy delicious meat, I visited a yakiniku restaurant in Okachimachi called "Yakiniku Motoyama Main Store." The restaurant is located in a back alley in Okachimachi. Despite the typhoon forecast for the day, it thankfully veered away from Tokyo. I made a reservation and was promptly seated, but the restaurant was almost full even on this day with a typhoon forecast. As expected of a long-established yakiniku restaurant founded in 1975. We started with a course menu filled with web-exclusive special dishes (with all-you-can-drink). The course included a selection of three special cuts (misuji, togarashi, sankaku, large-sized wagyu sirloin nigiri, including Kobe beef kalbi, totaling 17 items + all-you-can-drink) for 6980 yen. The meal began with appetizers, including a variety of namul dishes, which was a delightful start. After enjoying the crispy salad, I was ready to welcome the meat. The first bite of meat that day was sirloin. The bright red marbling was impressive! Although it was a large piece, I didn't hesitate to eat it in one bite. It was so delicious and melted in my mouth. Next came the three special cuts: misuji, togarashi, and sankaku. These were big players! Three types of A5-ranked carefully selected Japanese black beef. I was so happy that my cheeks were loose with joy. My stomach was full, but let's savor this moment of happiness. Next were four salt-grilled items: beef tongue, Hinata Bokujou three-element pork kalbi, and Hinata Bokujou three-element pork belly. The hormone of the day was copchang, I think. Grilling the skin thoroughly, the hot mutton fat was excellent for intestinal health. The meal ended with the classic kalbi and loin, which were also high-quality Japanese black beef. The marbling of the fat was just to my liking. The harami with plenty of homemade sauce was slightly sweet and spicy, making it a perfect final meat dish. For dessert, I chose almond jelly. A sweet finish to a great meal! In total, 17 dishes with all-you-can-drink for 6980 yen was a very satisfying and cost-effective deal. Ueno and Okachimachi are fiercely competitive areas for yakiniku restaurants, but as expected from a restaurant founded in 1945, the taste and price were stable. Choosing this place was really a good decision. However, as mentioned earlier, even on a day with a typhoon forecast, the restaurant was almost full, so it's probably necessary to make a reservation. It's the fate of a popular restaurant.

My husband and I had dinner together on the day of the Sumida River Fireworks Festival. The restaurant was very busy. We ordered from a tablet and even though it was crowded, the food was served quickly and the staff were efficient and pleasant. The salad and namul were delicious. The upper harami meat was also very tasty.

I have been going to this yakiniku restaurant for a long time! It moved to a new location, so I went there after a long time!! I love their beef tongue cuppa so much ♥ It was great to eat it again after a long time ✨️ I drank a lot and then went to a second place for all-you-can-drink again, along with this much food haha When I get drunk, my stomach becomes bottomless haha I don't remember the taste of the cold noodles at all... I will go there again and have it properly haha I didn't order the 3-item combo because I didn't feel like I could eat it, but I love the 3-item combo here! If it hasn't changed, it's really delicious!!! I also like the kimchi! Looking at the photos like this makes me want to go there again haha I will visit again soon! Thank you for the meal ===========

Located about a 2-minute walk from Ueno Station, this yakiniku restaurant offers A5 rank wagyu beef, mainly Kobe beef, at around 60% of the price of high-end restaurants, making it a very welcome spot. The restaurant has a semi-private feel with lattice doors, and ordering is convenient with touch panel screens. The table-top ventilation system ensures that your clothes won't smell like smoke. No matter what you order, the meat is delicious, and the cold noodles we had at the end were also very tasty. The prices are reasonable, so you can enjoy delicious meat and drinks without breaking the bank. Highly recommended!

Just a 1-minute walk from JR Okachimachi Station South Exit. Founded in 1975, "Yakiniku Motoyama" is a prestigious yakiniku restaurant with a history of 48 years, with branches in Ebisu and Shinjuku in addition to the main store in Ueno, a fierce battleground for yakiniku. The restaurant has been dedicated to Japanese beef, especially carefully selected A5 rank premium black wagyu, at around 60% of the price of high-end restaurants, making it one of the charms of "Yakiniku Motoyama". I visited the restaurant right after it opened on this day. We started with a toast with draft beer and ordered from the tablet: - Goma Special Kimchi: A generous amount of sesame and sesame oil, almost hiding the kimchi. It tastes like kimchi marinated in sesame oil, and it was incredibly delicious. A hidden gem of kimchi that can be enjoyed multiple times by dipping grilled vegetables or meat. - Jyo Tan Shio: Grilled on one side to a crisp and on the other side to a soft texture, with original seasoning and garnished with green onions sandwiched in between. It was amazing! - Kobe Beef Kalbi: The most popular Kobe beef kalbi at Motoyama is juicy and tender with fine marbling. It comes with a delicious dipping sauce, an original soy sauce blend with spices and fruits. - Akami no Kiwami: A selection of three cuts of lean meat - Misuji, Togarashi, Sankaku. They were tender and melted in the mouth with a sweet taste and smooth texture. - Kiriochoshi Special: A luxurious assortment of Kobe beef offal. Pour plenty of sauce and enjoy it on the rice! The sauce-soaked rice with the tender Kobe beef was irresistible. - Harami: A single bite made the difference from other meats clear! It was exquisite and delicious. This harami was so tasty that it's hard to find such a delicious one. - Hormone 6 Types Miso Flavor: Heart, Maruchou, Liver, Upper Mino, Shimachou, Coriander. The thickly cut hormone is seasoned with miso flavor. It's juicy and goes perfectly with beer or highball. - Tegutan Kuppa: Tegutan, ranked 5th in popularity at the restaurant, is rich and spicy with plenty of ingredients. You can choose the level of spiciness, making it a must-try for those who love spicy food! With a history of 48 years in Ueno, a fierce battleground for yakiniku, "Yakiniku Motoyama" is a trusted yakiniku restaurant where you can enjoy high-quality meat at a reasonable price. It is popular among regular customers, and on this day, there were families, couples, and solo diners all enjoying yakiniku in various styles. As it is a popular yakiniku restaurant in Ueno, it is recommended to make a reservation after 5:30 pm. Thank you for the meal. Located on the basement floor of a building just a few minutes from Ueno Station, this yakiniku restaurant has been specializing in Japanese beef since 1975. The interior offers table seating as well as tatami mats. Their assorted kimchi platter includes kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and radish kimchi, allowing you to try a variety of flavors. A must-try is their premium lean meat selection, which is a signature dish. Highly recommended are the special selected tendons, special selected peppers, and special selected triangular lean meat, all bursting with flavor. The lightly seared lean meat is particularly delicious. Their salted top tongue, topped with green onions and lemon, offers a refreshing taste. The classic Kobe beef ribs are a popular choice, with just the right amount of marbling for a rich and flavorful experience. The special selected Kobe beef ribs are thick-cut with beautiful marbling, offering a rich and elegant taste. Their daily selection of four types of nigiri sushi, including sirloin, top tendons, tri-tip, and zabuton, showcases the freshness and melt-in-your-mouth texture of the meat. Their homemade almond tofu is smooth and delicious. Overall, this restaurant offers reasonably priced, high-quality Japanese beef. The attentive staff even replaced the grill and towels during the meal, and served tea at the end. I would definitely come back for more.

It had been a while since my last visit. I usually come for lunch, but this time I visited at night for the first time. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was packed with people. Unlike my previous visit where the customers were sparse due to the impact of the coronavirus, this time it was lively and bustling, which made me happy. Today, I decided to go for a meal focused on meat. I started with a rare cuts platter with three kinds of meat. The meat was not only tender but also had a rich sweetness to it, making it a delightful experience. I followed it up with some Harami, which was absolutely delicious. As someone who loves Harami, I can say it was the best - it had a good chewiness, tenderness, and a great meaty flavor that spread in my mouth. This time, ordering through a panel made it easier and more convenient, so that was a plus point. The side dishes like kimchi, Kakuteki, and Namul were not just palate cleansers but also standout dishes. The food was delicious, and the drinks were flowing. I ended up quite full, as a person in their 50s might have overestimated how much they could eat, but overall, it was a great experience. Maybe next time I'll try their lunch menu. Thank you for the meal.

After visiting a shrine for the New Year's first visit, my friend and I decided to have yakiniku. We searched various places and ended up at this popular restaurant where we could get a table right away. The food was delicious, nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered beer, beef tongue, kimchi, and of course, a large bowl of rice, but I forgot to take photos. The rice was a must with the beer. I had already started eating and got rice on it, sorry!

I think the Kobe beef kalbi set with 8 pieces for only 1100 yen is a great deal. They seem to focus on quality ingredients by limiting the number of staff in the restaurant. It was convenient to call a staff member when needed, but it might be stressful during busy times. As a solo diner, I appreciated being left alone to enjoy my meal. Overall, I thought this was a reasonable and enjoyable dining experience.

I visited a yakiniku restaurant in Ueno at night in the mood for grilled meat. The restaurant is located underground, down a flight of stairs. The meat looked delicious in the pictures beforehand, but it was even better in person! And the prices were very reasonable. The interior of the restaurant was very clean and they had partitions, making it suitable for a date. I had quite a bit to eat and drink, and it came out to around 6000 yen per person. It was a satisfying night. Thank you for the meal.

"Do not come to Tokyo," the feeling is serious. Where to go, Akihabara or Okachimachi nearby... Let's avoid Ameyoko, as I have explored the area under the bridge before. The alley before heading to the bustling area has a yakiniku restaurant called "Yakiniku Motoyama." I used to eat a lot of meat, but I have reduced it since then. There are many new yakiniku restaurants opening up, indicating that it is a high yakiniku restaurant density area. I don't have high expectations for lunch yakiniku, to be honest. "Yakiniku Motoyama" moved here and I haven't been inside since then. It used to specialize in night drinking. In these times, they have started daytime operations. It's underground, so it's hard to see the inside of the restaurant. I should take a peek and if it's crowded, I'll reconsider. Be careful of the steep stairs, it's dangerous if you don't look down. I've used the stairs a few times, but I seem to have forgotten, it feels like the first time. It could be dangerous if I'm drunk. The way back is uphill, it might be tough. It's empty, maintaining distance automatically takes priority. Surprisingly, it feels safe. Haha, is that a chimney!? Creating a good ventilation feeling... So, let's check out "Yakiniku Motoyama." A 4-person seat for one person, reassuring. The menu is on a monitor screen... Oh, because it's the whole screen, I can't grasp the overall view, making it hard to decide based on the whole. Yakiniku lunch, yakiniku lunch, extra meat + 200 yen. Hmm, let's go for the horumon plus option... The monitor doesn't respond, maybe because of static electricity in my fingers. I called the waitress for help. It responded smoothly, seems like it was my finger's fault. It's difficult to choose by looking at various options. "Yakiniku lunch - extra meat," "Horumon - white," seaweed soup, salad, kimchi, and namul are included. The meat is a mix of beef that crossed the sea, including pork. Oh, there's also "Kobe beef" on the wall. Having Kobe beef for lunch doesn't feel right. It's just regular beef, not bad, not in a bad mood either. Quantity! Enhancing the mood with a large portion of meat quality? Surprisingly fun feeling? I'm a meat eater, so if it's meat, it's still precious. With a yakiniku lunch, the meat quickly runs out, but there's still quite a lot to grill, so there's no disappointment. Oh, it's quite interesting. But if it's always like this, what will happen... Oh, well, it's like a "Himajin lunch set" for a couple of small bills, that would be nice. With a few small bills, you get a satisfying meal at "Yakiniku Motoyama." Thank you for the meal. The uphill walk back was heavy. Later, I found out that there was a suitable option. Kobe beef kalbi lunch (top) 1,980 yen - Kobe beef top kalbi - Rice (large serving for free) - Soup - Salad - Kimchi - Namul Kobe beef kalbi lunch 1,400 yen

Founded in 1975, this yakiniku restaurant in Ueno offers a range of affordable to high-end options. The food here is worth the price, with generous portions and delicious flavors. The social distancing measures are perfect, and ordering through touch panels adds to the cleanliness of the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the volume of the Kalbi, which was incredibly tender and easy to eat. The GOMA Special Kimchi was unique and flavorful, with a generous amount of sesame seeds. The Gyutan Shio was elegantly marbled and came with a slightly spicy green onion topping. The Wagyu Aburi Yukke was high-quality and rich, especially when mixed with egg yolk, pine nuts, and sesame seeds. The crispy Pari Pari Chijimi was a delight, and the Roast Beef was tender and flavorful. The Harami had a firm texture and great taste. The Cold Noodles were refreshing, and the Almond Tofu was smooth and not too sweet. Overall, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Yakiniku Motoyama Honten in Ueno is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal with family or friends.

After finishing my errands in Ueno, I walked to a yakiniku restaurant in Okachimachi. It's located right by Okachimachi Station, on the basement floor. The restaurant is well divided and orders are placed using a touch panel. With a wide variety on the menu, I decided to go for popular items a la carte. - Beef tongue with plenty of green onions! - Kobe beef kalbi salt - Kobe beef kalbi wasabi Most popular! The amount, the taste, and the price all seemed unbelievable, so I added an extra order of salt and wasabi. - White intestine with vinegar miso, crunchy and mild - Wagyu seared yukhoe, also very generous in portion! Delicious even without sauce. - Beef loin with plenty of sauce - Harami with wasabi, tender with a hint of spiciness, very tasty! - Sesame special kimchi, kimchi covered in sesame seeds, a unique taste - Tegutan soup, mild spiciness with plenty of eggs and vegetables, warms you up gently - Crispy chijimi, very crispy! Goes well with the sauce - Cold noodles with char siu, refreshing broth and easy-to-eat firm noodles - Almond jelly for dessert! Despite being reasonably priced, there was a lot of delicious meat and a variety of side dishes to enjoy. The staff were also friendly, and it was nice that the orders came out quickly!

Today, I took a leisurely stroll in Ueno Park and then had dinner at Yakiniku Motoyama in Okachimachi. I like this place and visit often, and I heard that this Ueno branch is the main store. The restaurant has taken proper measures against COVID-19, so I felt safe dining here. I started with a Sapporo draft beer for a toast. The touch panel ordering system is very modern. I tried the Wagyu seared yukhoe for 1280 yen, which had a great umami flavor. The assorted premium meat platter included tongue, triangle, and skirt cuts, all beautifully presented. The skirt cut was my favorite, with a sweet and luxurious taste. For my second drink, I had a shochu highball with plenty of lemon, which was refreshing. The Goma Special Kimchi with sesame oil was a perfect match with the kimchi. The crunchy spicy miso had a unique texture and addictive spiciness. I tried a Shaoxing wine on the rocks with lemon, which I hadn't had in a while. Lastly, I enjoyed the spicy Kalbi soup, which was surprisingly not too spicy and had a well-balanced flavor. The location is convenient, and the staff provided excellent service. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, they are doing their best. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I went to Ueno Park just to catch a glimpse of the cherry blossoms~♪ It's a shame that I couldn't have a proper hanami, but I enjoyed the beautiful cherry blossoms and then had a yakiniku dinner! Food is better than flowers, right~♪ The ordering system was touch panel style! First, I had a draft beer (638 yen) to cheers! I tried the GOMA Special Kimchi (561 yen), which was kimchi soaked in sesame oil with roasted sesame sprinkled on top. At first, I was like, huh?! But the spiciness was mellowed out and the sesame flavor added a nice touch, surprisingly delicious haha. The Premium 3-Point Assortment (3,168 yen) included Misuji, Tougarashi, and Kata-Sankaku! I love lean meat! It was full of flavor. It also came with vegetables, which was nice. The Wagyu Beef Yukhoe (1,408 yen) was so tender and went well with beer! For the second round, I had a refreshing Bariuma Lemon Sour (660 yen)! It was slightly sweet and delicious~♪ The Crunchy Miso (968 yen) was a chewy hormone dish! The large cut gave it a nice crunchy texture, definitely a must-try for those who like that! The 6-Vegetable Namul (605 yen) was interesting too. It was perfect for refreshing between meat dishes! The Spicy Cold Tofu (495 yen) was not too spicy, so I could eat it easily! I wanted to try the cup sake too, but I was already full, so I ended with the Kalbi Soup (825 yen)! As expected from a popular restaurant! It was a delicious yakiniku experience after a long time~♪ Affordable and enjoyable yakiniku restaurant.
