⭐️Located along Waseda Street near Nakano North Exit⭐️⭐️Established in the early Showa period⭐️I'm not sure what they do well, but the cost performance is great. The half-size Katsu Nii is under 500 yen and has a satisfying portion. Recently, they have completely changed the image of soba and Chinese restaurants serving katsu dishes. The sauce and taste are excellent. I tried the cold noodles, which tasted similar to homemade, but it has its own charm. It's perfect for summer. The Katsu Nii and cold noodles were amazing. Thank you for the meal.

Sometimes it's hard to find a seat during lunchtime, but luckily I was able to get one. Although I was tempted by the curry soba with rice, I ended up ordering the wild vegetable soba. I realized once again that I really like the taste of Nagaoka-ya's dipping sauce. I also took a picture of the evening appetizer menu. I think it would be nice to have some drinks next time, followed by some soba.

I came for lunch and decided to visit again for dinner. They had the usual dishes like itasana, as well as oden which was enjoyable. The katsu-ni was also delicious. They had a good selection of Japanese sake, some of which I hadn't seen elsewhere and were tasty. I tried the curry nanban and zaru soba. The curry nanban went well with the sake. The two busy waitresses had a nice local soba shop vibe. It seems like they have been around since before the war, with a long history. I hope they continue to thrive. Thank you for the meal.

On Sundays, many people enjoy drinking during the day, and there are various appetizers that go well with drinks. I had "tenzaru," which comes with soba soup from the start. I ordered a unique drink called "Asitaba sour," which I think is only available here. It tastes like green juice turned into alcohol, and I consider it a healthy drink. The tempura was a bit crispy, which I like. There are two tatami mat seating areas, and the neighboring table had a couple with a small child. It had a cozy atmosphere. It was delicious.

I went to eat New Year's Eve soba. It was crowded because it was New Year's Eve, so it couldn't be helped, but it took about an hour after ordering for the food to finally be served. My friend ordered meat soba, but chicken soba was served instead. When I suggested they tell the staff about the mistake, they said they didn't want to wait another hour. Thanks to that, we were able to finish eating just about 2 minutes before the new year. The taste was not very good, as the noodles were overcooked.

This restaurant, established in 1927, offers a tendon set for 1160 yen. When I visited in the early afternoon, it was almost always full. The customers are mainly local seniors, with a few salarymen mixed in. The female staff members are friendly and handle the service in the dining area. I was tempted by the mini tendon set (with one shrimp tempura), but ended up ordering the regular tendon set. It was served promptly. The bowl has a unique shape, originally designed for serving both tempura and soba noodles with broth in the middle recess. However, they use it for serving soba alone, which looks a bit odd. The tendon had a sweet sauce, with thickly cut sweet potatoes, shrimp, and eggplant. It was oily and rich. The soba noodles were ordinary. I plan to try another dish next time. Thank you for the meal.

Katsudon set. Nakano. Cloudy weather. On the way to Yakushi, I stopped by an old soba restaurant. The menu has a variety of options. I ordered the Katsudon set, while my wife ordered the Tendon set. The place seemed popular as customers kept coming in one after another. As a result, it took a bit of time for our orders to be served. The Katsudon set had 3 pieces of pork cutlet, which was a bit disappointing. The taste, texture of the meat, and the doneness of the egg topping were good, but the dish was a bit lukewarm. The soba noodles were thin and there was a decent portion. My wife's Tendon had a rich flavor and was delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Maybe we should have ordered a soba-based dish instead.

For lunch on this day, I went to a soba restaurant in Nakano. I was seated at a table along Waseda Street and while watching the news about heavy snowfall, I enjoyed the following dishes:
- Katsu-ni Soba: When I visit a soba restaurant, I usually order Katsu-ni, and this one did not disappoint. The broth was not too sweet, which I liked. The egg was perfectly cooked, not too runny or too hard, making it easy to eat even for someone with a small mouth like me. The addition of some greens (maybe green onions?) was a nice touch.
- Miso Tadaku: I used to have Tadaku occasionally at home when I was a child, but it's not a dish I usually choose to make myself now (especially since my husband doesn't drink alcohol). Having it after a long time, I found it quite delicious. The sweet miso sauce can sometimes be overwhelming, but the konjac made it refreshing and not too heavy. I might get hooked on it again.
For drinks, I had a soba shochu mixed with hot soba water after starting with a bottle of beer. The soba shochu came in a small bottle, allowing me to adjust the strength according to my preference. It was a cozy and delicious dining experience. Thank you for the meal!

I visited for lunch around 11:30 on a Tuesday. The interior of the restaurant had a nostalgic Showa era atmosphere with raised seating areas and a small shrine. I ordered the Duck Nanban Soba with a side of small rice (880 yen including tax). The Duck Nanban is a daily lunch special where you can choose between cold or hot soba or udon. The rich and flavorful duck broth with green onions paired perfectly with the delicate soba noodles. The large pieces of duck meat added a nice touch to the dish. The grated daikon radish and spicy yuzu pepper added a delicious accent. The small rice portion was also quite filling.

During the daytime, on the way to a new drugstore, I always noticed a shop that caught my interest. The entrance door was always half open no matter what time I passed by. When I was told they had Kirin and Asahi beer, I chose Kirin Lager with soba set meal without hesitation, and opted for warm noodles. The meal came with stir-fried meat and rice, and the cost performance was decent. Thank you for the meal.

I knew about this place facing Waseda Street for a while, but I visited for the first time. There were tables and a raised seating area, and when I visited, the tables were full. No one was in the raised seating area, so I sat there alone. I ordered the Kujo Negi Oroshi Soba. The Kujo Negi Oroshi Soba... warm soba, with toppings of Kujo Negi and shiitake mushrooms, was delicious! The combination of warm soba and grated daikon radish was a bit unexpected, but it worked well. Most of the customers were elderly, and I could feel the history of the shop! Thank you for the meal!

I had a yakiniku set meal. I don't really want to write about this kind of thing, but the rice was too soft, the miso soup lacked flavor and had too little miso, and the meat was not very good. I wish they would serve better quality meat for the 880 yen they charge. It might be better to make lunchtime smoke-free, as there were people smoking and some women looked uncomfortable.

I visited Nagaokaya at 8:00 PM. The prices are reasonable, starting from 550 yen for a soba dish. The menu includes rice bowls, set meals, noodles, sets, and appetizers, all of which are exciting. Today, I ordered a bottle of beer for 550 yen, a plate of assorted sashimi for 450 yen, a large zaru udon for 850 yen, and a tempura zaru udon for 1250 yen. The assorted sashimi had thick slices of fish with a strong flavor, along with finely chopped pickled ginger that complemented it well. The tempura zaru udon had large shrimp, 2 eggplants, 2 bell peppers, and 1 okra, offering a generous portion. The soba noodles were soft, and the dipping sauce was a bit on the sweeter side. Mixing it with soba water made it delicious. I couldn't really tell the difference from the Michelin-starred restaurant I visited yesterday. The udon noodles were soft but had a good chewy texture. This place offers good prices, a variety of menu options, and decent flavors. It's a restaurant I would come back to.

On March 20, 2019, I revisited a restaurant with my wife. We originally planned to go to a popular restaurant for oyakodon, but it was full. So, we decided to try a soba restaurant called Nagaoka-ya across the street. The restaurant was not crowded when we arrived at 7:23 pm. We ordered two draft beers and some appetizers: thickly sliced kamaboko, simmered motsu (offal), and miso-glazed mackerel. The kamaboko was average, the motsu was tender with a slightly strong miso flavor, and the miso-glazed mackerel was sweet and delicious. We then ordered more beer and some carbohydrates to go with it. I ordered the oyakodon set with cold soba, while my wife ordered the duck soup with soba. The oyakodon was cooked well with a slightly sweet and strong flavor, reminiscent of traditional homemade oyakodon. The soba was thin and lacked a strong aroma and texture. The dipping sauce was sweet and rich with a weak dashi flavor. Overall, the meal was average without any standout features. The miso-glazed mackerel was the most delicious dish, and I would like to try the mackerel set next time.

This is a traditional soba noodle restaurant. It has an addictive quality that makes you want to come back for more. It can get crowded around lunchtime, so sometimes it's hard to get a table. The food is delicious.

I visited this local soba restaurant in Nakano for a casual meal. Located along Waseda Street, it is a simple, long-standing establishment similar to Nagayoshi-an and Masudaya. The egg and rice bowl soba costs 700 yen. The reasonable price is nice, but what really adds to the charm is the conversation between the female owner and the local regulars, like "How old are you now, mom?" "I'm already over 80." These natural exchanges really highlight the appeal of a local neighborhood restaurant. While this place may not offer gourmet dining, there is a certain soothing effect that comes from the atmosphere. Since it opened in 1927, it's been around longer than the owner has been alive. The soba noodles and broth are nothing special, but sometimes it's the comforting familiarity that keeps a place in business. I'm thinking of trying the pork cutlet bowl next time...
