I left my car in Toyama Prefecture and took the Shinkansen to Tokyo. My original plan was to eat ramen in Niigata, Gunma, and Ibaraki, the ultimate ramen showdown, but I'll have to save that for next time. Once I arrived in Tokyo, I visited Kamiya in Kabukicho. It's a super cheap motsu-yaki restaurant where each skewer costs only 70 yen. The staff, including the entertaining head chef, who has been watching over Kabukicho for decades, are a highlight. I had a funny conversation with the head chef about the situation in Okubo Park. The staff members are quick on their feet and handle customers of all types with ease. The food is decently delicious, the prices are very affordable, and the staff's interpersonal skills are top-notch. Overall, this restaurant deserves to be at the top of the list in Japan's dining scene. #Tokyo #TokyoGourmet #Shinjuku #ShinjukuGourmet #Kabukicho #KabukichoGourmet #MotsuYakiKamiya #EijiNishinari

Recently, due to the influence of the coronavirus, there have been many changes in restaurants, with an increase in yakitori places. Unfortunately, there are not many authentic establishments opening up, and instead, there are more foreign-style restaurants. This place, however, serves authentic charcoal-grilled yakitori that is delicious. The restaurant is small and old, but it's great for a quick meal. Watching the staff efficiently take orders is enjoyable. This is a place I want to visit from time to time.

It seems like a popular casual izakaya. Smoking is allowed and there are private rooms available. The menu seems to only have assorted skewers, but it's a bit hard to tell which part is which. The taste was okay, considering the high expectations for a popular restaurant. The liver steak was tasty without any unpleasant smell. It's a bit on the small side. Also, they don't provide wet towels.

Yakitori izakaya in Kabukicho, Shinjuku. Third visit. Visited at 19:10 on Saturday. No waiting time. Located on the road in front of TOHO Cinema in Shinjuku, heading right. Despite being right in the middle of Kabukicho, the atmosphere of the restaurant is not typical of Kabukicho. It is always crowded, with no walkways in the packed interior. Not fancy or stylish, with only middle-aged men as customers, making it slightly intimidating to enter, yet strangely comfortable once inside. Each table does not have a menu, but the yakitori menu is written on the top of the counter. What I ate: - Grilled liver - 5 skewers with sauce - 3 skewers with salt This time I ate a lot! I usually start with grilled liver and then leave the rest to the chef, ordering a few skewers with salt and sauce. All of them are delicious! This is a great place to stop by when you're feeling a bit peckish or when you're too hungry and irritated before dinner. (This time was the latter) [Foodie Route of the Day] Shin-Okubo Station → Honchukumi Shinjuku Kabukicho Branch (Shinjuku / Korean cuisine) → RoZi coffee (Shin-Okubo / Cafe) → Motsuyaki Kamiya (Shinjuku / Yakitori) → EFELIF KEBAB (Okubo / Kebab)

I live in Kansai, but whenever I come to Tokyo, I always make sure to stop by this famous restaurant. It's a pork skewer shop that you don't often see in Kansai. Because of its location, it's always bustling with people like those heading to work or stopping by on their way home from work. The skewers here are all amazing, especially the fatty ones, and this time I ordered the intestines skewer. You can choose from various cuts of meat with sauce or salt, and when you ask them to mix it up, they'll do it for you. These skewers go perfectly with a glass of Hoppy. Despite the location, the prices for the skewers are incredibly cheap. And of course, the drinks too! The staff are all friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. I will definitely keep coming back here!

It's been a long time since I last went there! I used to go there a lot in the past, but haven't been there recently. The smoke from the grill adds flavor, and the atmosphere is really nice in my opinion. The staff is also very attentive! The recommended way of ordering hasn't changed from before. Eat quickly and drink! Thank you for the meal♪

It was past 8pm. The tables and tatami mats were full, but there was some space at the counter for solo diners. I sat down without knowing the prices and was told various mysterious phrases, but I didn't understand, so I chose liver and grilled gatsu? Liver. The service was very fast. In about 2 minutes, my hoppy drink arrived! The grilled liver came after about 3 bites. It was served with green onions and green garlic!? I was a bit surprised, but after researching online, I found out that garlic turns green when it's been grated for a while and it's safe to eat. The taste was garlicky. The liver was lightly seared, no smell, and went well with the green onions. The meat was small but tasty, with a sweet soy-based sauce. Overall, it was enjoyable. I added more drinks and the total came to 1400 yen. It was relatively cheap for Kabukicho prices. The turnover was good, and it was a friendly place for solo drinkers.

I have been going to Kamiya for over 10 years now. As soon as I arrive, I always order 5 pieces of salt-grilled skewers and some grilled dishes. You can't just order 2 skewers at Kamiya, they usually start at 5. If you finish your drink, the staff will quickly ask if you want a refill. If you want to relax and take your time, this place might not be the best choice, so be careful.

After a night of heavy drinking yesterday, I fell asleep in bed without even changing clothes. I didn't shower during the day, just brushed my teeth before going to the dentist for treatment (lol). After that, I jumped on the bullet train still smelling bad all over and ended up at Kamiya in Kabukicho, Shinjuku. I had a fun time drinking and eating with Japanese and Canadian customers sitting next to me. #FirstStopInTokyo #Shinjuku #Kabukicho #Kamiya #Motsuyaki

I couldn't just pass by, so I ordered a set of 5 grilled skewers of pork intestines. The skewers were small but each had a unique taste from different parts of the intestines, making it a great match with beer. You can choose between salt, sauce, or miso sauce, and this time I chose sauce. I'd like to try miso sauce next time. The staff, who were very sociable, came at the right time to ask for the next order. I also tried the liver skewers with garlic and green onions on top, which was delicious. The lemon sour with Hoppy had just the right amount of sweetness and acidity, making it a great match with the pork intestines. Even though most drinks come in cans nowadays, there's something special about drinks in bottles. As the sun sets, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the lights, aromas, and smoke. If I happen to pass by again, I would gladly be drawn in once more. Location: About a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station.

I was wandering around the back streets of Kabukicho without any idea of what to eat for a quick meal. I passed by the old Ookuza (formerly Torimitsu) shop and ended up at Motsuyaki Kamiya. They welcomed me in without hesitation and I sat down at a table. I had a chat with the owner about the menu and ended up ordering raw liver, grilled skewers with their special sauce, and salted skewers, along with a bottle of beer. The beer arrived almost instantly. The rare grilled liver was delicious, and using skewers as chopsticks was a fun experience. The grilled skewers were served hot and were a mix of different cuts, making it a surprise to see what each one tasted like. Just when we were finishing the sauce skewers, the salted skewers arrived right on time. It was a great teamwork between the kitchen and the staff. It's a warm and friendly restaurant where you can enjoy a quick meal and a drink. I hope this place continues to showcase the charm of Kabukicho for a long time.

Visited with 6 people on a regular night. There is a tatami room in the back. The place is always bustling. Orders come out quickly. This restaurant does not provide chopsticks, you eat with bamboo skewers. Not suitable for a date. Perfect for those who love red lanterns and enjoy a historic atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant based on the recommendation of a friend who is a regular customer here. The counter and tatami seating were full, and the tatami seating was quite close to the neighboring tables, but for some reason, it felt like a comforting space. We ordered motsu-yaki (grilled pork intestines) and pickles as snacks for the day. The motsu-yaki, a symbol of cheap and delicious food, was outstanding. Just the green onions on top were enough to make you want to drink alcohol, making it a place that alcohol enthusiasts would love.

The first picture shows the leader of Kabukicho, Kamiya, who resembles Junji Takada and possesses a carefree attitude. Kabukicho has a history of over 42 years, but before that, there was Kamiya in Ueno, now gone, and the founder's relative who has dedicated his life to Kamiya since his early twenties. The second picture shows the second oldest staff member, who instructs new staff to always seek out work for themselves and not waste a single second of their time during work. The third picture is of the third oldest staff member, who is knowledgeable about the behind-the-scenes and gossip of Kabukicho, making them suitable for everyday conversations in the area. The fourth picture is of a promising new or mid-level staff member who joined the team a few years ago, the youngest and most handsome Japanese staff member who is skilled in conversation, quickly becoming a popular staff member. Today, there were also two foreign staff members present, making a total of six staff members in the shop, which used to have only three staff members in the past. In the Reiwa era, walking the streets is like encountering the god of fortune, Eiji Nishinari (laughs). My judgment is clear without any doubt! #TokyoThirdStop #TokyoGourmet #ShinjukuGourmet #KabukichoGourmet #MotsuyakiKamiya #EternalEdition #StaffIntroduction

Today I went to Kamiya-san. When I arrived at the front of the restaurant, a staff member came out to guide me inside. The exterior and interior of the restaurant are just like a Showa era izakaya that I love! I didn't hesitate to order a bottled beer. For food, the staff recommended a 10-piece assorted skewers with sauce, and I went with their suggestion. Oh, there are no chopsticks, and no skewer holder either! It seems they don't provide chopsticks. The charcoal-grilled yakitori with sweet sauce was delicious! Before my drink ran out, the staff came to ask for my next drink order, and they also checked if I wanted to add more food regularly. The staff were really attentive and fun. I found a great hidden gem. Thank you for the meal!

The first stop in Tokyo is definitely Kamiya-san! The taste is about average, but the staff, led by the famous owner, is entertaining and there are four of them, making it the strongest shop! Yesterday, there was even a foreign part-time worker, so there were five people working. There were also a few groups of women enjoying the place, showing that Kamiya-san's charm is spreading to women as well. #FirstStopInTokyo #TokyoGourmet #Kabukicho #MotsuyakiKamiya #70yenperstick #Hoppy300yen #LemonBottleSour300yen #KatsuSashimi350yen #MisoDippingSauce50yen #Sake200yen

【Introduction to Sauna after closing Kamia in Kabukicho and Men's Sauna Korikori】 Tokyo 12th place. If you come to Tokyo, you have to go to Kamia, right?... But the Kabukicho To-Yoko Kids (not the Hotel Toyoko Inn, but next to Toho Building) were amazing. It was chaotic! People who looked like young homeless with overgrown beards and messy hair, half-naked, dancing, and dozens of teenagers mingling, arguing loudly, and the police coming. But when you look closely, everyone has a serious face! Originally, the type that didn't stand out gathered here in groups, so it turned into a frenzy or a fight (^_^;) In the old days, the 893 used to keep a close eye on Kabukicho, so it wasn't like this, but... I can't say which is better... Also, I visited the sauna that opened next to it. In the distant past, it was called "Finland." Recently, it was "Korikori," the sauna in the basement. It has reopened under the name "SOLA SPA" with a different operating company. The interior is almost the same, with a new coat of paint, allowing women to enter, and some renovations. It has become more youth-oriented, with manga and darts, and the atmosphere has a fluorescent color scheme that hosts might like, but it doesn't seem to have been cleaned at all (laughs). During the Finland era, it was a sauna hangout for the 893, during the Korikori era, it was a hangout for lecherous old men, and now it seems to be transforming into a hangout for hosts and dodgy girls! It made me realize that it naturally changes with the times, not about which era is good or bad. #Tokyo 12th place #Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo #Kabukicho #Motsuyaki Kamia #To-Yoko Kids #Toho Cinema #Finland #Korikori #SOLA SPA

Despite the cozy atmosphere, the customer service is excellent, and the staff will recommend dishes for you to order. It's best to follow their recommendations. The restaurant is small, so it's ideal for groups of two. We visited with three people and it felt quite cramped.

I had been thinking of going to Kamiya in Kabukicho someday, but when I passed by on this day, I was called in by the staff and ended up entering the store. It was crowded and hectic. The menu signs showed their age. I ordered a glass of Hoppy and was asked if I wanted sauce or salt with it. Of course, at Kamiya, it's sauce. When I asked for guts for my sashimi, I was told it was Gatsu. Guts sashimi is sprinkled with chopped green onions in a spicy garlic soy sauce. I used the skewers as chopsticks and it was delicious. Five skewers came with the sauce. Sweet sauce and small skewers, it's definitely Kamiya. That's it for today. The bill came to exactly 1000 yen. It's definitely Kamiya!
