I have used three Super Hotels outside the Kansai region and found them to be convenient, affordable, and with good breakfast options. Because of this experience, I decided to stay at a Super Hotel in Kyoto. The dining area was located on the second floor behind the front desk. The breakfast was a light buffet style with a mix of Japanese and Western dishes. Although the variety of food was limited and there were no items like bacon or sausages, it was understandable given the reasonable price. There were several types of bread available, so I had rice as well as bread for breakfast. The buttery croissants had a crispy outer layer and a nice texture. The quality of the rice was also good. However, the warm dishes were limited to just miso soup, and overall, the temperature of the food was low. I wish they paid more attention to serving warmer meals. While I appreciate the homely feel of the breakfast rather than a lavish spread like in traditional inns, the issue of low temperature was disappointing. Morning energy comes from warm meals.

This hotel is located next to the Gion-Shijo subway station exit, making it extremely convenient for transportation. There is a Seven Eleven just a 1-minute walk away, and across the street on Kawaramachi-dori, you can find the popular ramen restaurant Daibou serving tonkotsu shoyu ramen. The hotel has parking for 5 cars on the 1st floor, but reservations are required. Breakfast is free and now includes natto, which is a nice addition. The menu changes daily to keep things interesting, and the freshly baked bread is a highlight. One downside is that sometimes, by 8:30 am, certain items like the fresh salad may not be replenished. The hotel aims to provide guests with a good night's sleep and a refreshing wake-up to start their day. They are conducting scientific research with Osaka Prefecture University to ensure a comfortable sleep experience at the "Super Hotel Good Sleep Institute".

I had a feeling of fatigue, so I stayed at the Super Hotel Kyoto Gojo where I could recover from tiredness on a super soft bed. It's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station and has good access to Shijo as well. The customer service is incredibly polite and almost eerie. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is calming with a religious touch. I brought my own toothbrush, but got some snacks as well. It's a bit spooky, but I think it's the best business hotel ever! Whenever there is a Super Hotel available, I will definitely choose it.

During the autumn foliage season, I stayed at this hotel with friends who were visiting for sightseeing. The room was a bit larger than expected, and I appreciated the option to choose from different types of pillows. However, the room was dark and lacked convenient outlets or side tables. The bathroom was quite small. As for breakfast, they offered a buffet of freshly baked bread, but when we went, all the bread was cold. The selection was limited, with no ham or sausages. The taste was average, and I didn't find anything particularly appetizing. Overall, my impression was that it was just okay.

In the second half of this Kyoto trip in May 2014, we stayed at the Super Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi Gojo for two nights and three days. The location was great, right next to the Gojo station exit. This was my first time staying at a Super Hotel, so I had high expectations for breakfast. Breakfast was served in the lobby on the 2nd floor from 7:00 to 9:30 in the morning. On the morning of the 4th, I left my room at 6:50 and headed to the lobby, where there was already a line forming. I grabbed two plates and started my buffet tour! The first plate had two pieces of bread, potatoes and bacon, and the second plate had dried daikon radish, simmered hijiki seaweed, and meat spa. I also had coffee, yogurt, and vegetable salad on the side. On the morning of the 5th, I went to the lobby again. Since I had eaten a lot at the buffet last night at Kakiyasu Mitsushaku Hashi JR Kyoto Isetan store, I only took one piece of bread and vegetable salad on my first plate, and lotus root, burdock, carrot, shiitake mushroom simmered dish, and broccoli on my second plate. There was also miso soup available, so I had that too. During breakfast hours, the juice vending machine in cups was also free. Compared to the East Tokyo INN Kyoto Gojo Kawaramachi where we stayed in the first half of the Kyoto trip, the accommodation cost was higher, but I think the food was of better quality. I especially liked the variety of vegetable dishes. Thank you for the meal.

The menu in July 2016 hasn't changed much. The drink bar used to have paper cups, but now they use plastic cups. It's a shame that you can't take the drinks back to your room with a lid, but it's more eco-friendly. Breakfast is included in the room rate, so I've used it a few times. It's close to Gojo Station and easy to access. They have a variety of freshly baked bread like German bread, croissants, and Danish pastries. The staff announces when they come out of the oven. They also offer rice, vegetable salad, Japanese side dishes, yogurt, and a good balance of options. They have 3-4 types of dressing to try, and I recommend the tomato dressing. Drinks are complimentary, and they provide cups at the vending machine. The coffee comes with a lid, so you can enjoy it like at a cafe. The staff is friendly, and you can start your day with a balanced meal before going out for sightseeing.
