The shop is located in an area popular with foreign tourists, with a car dealership right in front. Despite its traditional Asakusa atmosphere, it is frequented by salarymen during lunchtime, seemingly avoiding the tourist crowd.

I passed by Asakusa during dinner time, so I searched on Google and decided to visit. The restaurant had decent ratings on Google and Tabelog, but it didn't suit my taste. The menu advertised a chicken broth soy sauce ramen, but both the soup and noodles lacked any distinctive features. The price was reasonable at 800 yen for a bowl, but the portion was on the smaller side. They didn't accept electronic payments, and the service was nothing special. I don't think I'll be going back.

This time, I used it for dinner. I was undecided on what to order, but this time I ordered the Gin Ramen (Junmai Miso). It is a shop where you purchase food tickets. Order details Gin Ramen (Junmai Miso) 850 yen The Gin Ramen (Junmai Miso) is a creamy miso ramen with chicken white broth base topped with chili oil. The noodles were straight and medium-thin with a good texture. The toppings included ground meat, flavored egg, bean sprouts, and green onions. The saltiness was just right, and it had a delicious flavor. The staff was operating alone, and with a large number of seats, it seemed quite challenging, so having one more staff member might provide a sense of reassurance. It is a ramen shop located near Asakusa Station.

On this day, I planned to go to Shinpachi Shokudo, but it was crowded... so I gave up and decided to go to a nearby shop instead.
What I had:
- Miso Ramen: I believe I ordered something like "all toppings included". The soup was well-balanced, not too strong, and delicious. The chashu was also large and tasty.

The chicken white broth made by the head chef from a Chinese cuisine restaurant is popular. [Order] Black Ramen ¥800, Egg Rice Bowl (Coupon) ¥0 [Noodles] Mikaoya brand medium thick straight noodles with a rich soup that has a chewy texture. [Soup] Made with 50 kilograms of chicken bones from Oyama chicken for every 100 bowls, the soup is rich yet low in salt. The soy sauce base is generously infused with seafood and adds depth and richness to the soup. The tare sauce contains 6 types of seafood. It's delicious on its own, but adding Sichuan pepper enhances the soup's sharpness. There are two types of chili oil on the table - red goes well with soy sauce and miso, while green pairs nicely with salt or cold green onions. [Ingredients] Char siu, carrots, green onions, bean sprouts, seaweed, menma. The egg rice bowl is made by putting lard and garlic on rice, drizzling soy sauce from the egg rice bowl, mixing it all together to enjoy the richness of lard and the punch of garlic. This was my 5th bowl this year. Thank you for the meal. As of 2023, there are 95 bowls of soy sauce ramen left in the top three.

There are ramen with names like red, blue, gold, and silver. They have various flavors like soy sauce, salt, and miso, but all of them have a chicken white broth base, so the soup is moderately rich and flavorful. I tried the silver ramen with miso, and it tasted somewhat similar to tantanmen, which I personally found very delicious.

Blue Ramen (Green Chili Pepper/Salt) ¥800 for first-time visitors. The base is chicken white broth, and the menu is color-coded. White is salt, black is soy sauce with a hint of sansho pepper, red is soy sauce with red chili pepper, gold is golden chili pepper with premium miso and garlic chili oil, silver is premium miso (looks like tantanmen style) with garlic chili oil. The bowl that came out was a creamy chicken white broth. The richness and viscosity are moderate, making it easy to eat (drink). The spiciness is from green chili peppers, so it has a sharp kick, but it was written that it is "spicier than red," so I thought it would be a bit spicier. Personally, it feels more like a mild spiciness. However, it's not overly spicy, so it can be considered a good balance. The topping of chicken char siu is tender, the bean sprouts have a slightly crunchy texture, and the sliced bamboo shoots are small. The accompanying noodles were smooth with a chewy texture.

I had a slow lunch of ramen and then strolled around Asakusa. I was thinking of going to Yuki Kage or Ichiryu for tantanmen, but then I remembered this place that I had never been to before. They had three types of ramen: white, black, and red. I was torn between black and white, but ended up choosing the salt-flavored white ramen. It was a little after 3 PM on Saturday, so I was the only customer there. I bought my meal ticket from the machine and sat at the counter. The ramen arrived with a carrot butterfly on top. There were condiments like chili oil, green chili oil, sansho pepper, and chili peppers on the counter, so you could customize your ramen. I tried adding chili peppers and sansho pepper, and it really enhanced the flavor. The chili oil wasn't to my liking, but I'll try all three types next time.

【Restaurant Name】Ramen Watanabe【Nearest Station】Asakusa Station, 4 minutes on foot【Lunch Budget】800-1100 yenVisited in June 2022【About the Restaurant】During the weekday lunch hours, I walked around the Asakusa area and found a ramen shop on a quieter street. It seems like they have various soup bases. I decided to go in. The exterior gives more of a pub-like vibe than a typical ramen shop. As I entered through the open door, I saw a ticket machine near the entrance, so I bought a meal ticket. I was seated at the counter in a corner and handed my ticket to the staff. The lighting inside the restaurant is a bit dim. The main customers seem to be solo male diners, more locals than tourists.【About the Food】★Spicy Ramen 800 yenI chose the "red chili/soy sauce" soup base. During lunchtime, they offer complimentary rice, so I requested that as well. After handing in my ticket, the food was served in just a few minutes, which was quite fast. The noodles are thin and straight, probably cooked quickly due to their thinness. The ramen was topped with a generous amount of red powder, possibly a mix of chili and fish powder. The soup itself is also very red and vibrant. Mixing the red powder into the soup, I found it to be spicy but not overwhelmingly so. There's a substantial amount of bean sprouts, providing a different texture from the noodles. I was pleased to see two large slices of chashu. After finishing the noodles, I mixed the remaining soup with the rice and enjoyed it. The rice, flavored with chicken broth, complemented the soup well. Overall, I think it's a well-balanced and cost-effective ramen. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Ramen Watanabe in Asakusa and enjoyed their ramen with thick noodles that perfectly absorbed the soup. I tried both the salt-flavored white ramen and the soy sauce-flavored black ramen. The noodles were delicious and easy to eat, as always.

Lunchtime in Asakusa is always crowded no matter where you go. This restaurant is slightly off the main street near Senso-ji Temple, making it easy to get in. They offer three types of chicken paitan soup base: "white," "black (soy sauce)," and "red (spicy)." I tried the black one. It has a soy sauce base, similar to the thick ramen from a chain in Kyoto, with a rich soup that's a bit salty. This shop specializes in paitan soup. Next time, I'll try the white one.

I had the Blue Ramen (青らーめん) in a large serving as part of the lunchtime service at Ramen Watanabe in Asakusa. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but it was delicious. The refreshing spiciness of the green chili pepper perfectly matched the rich chicken broth. The rice cooked in the chicken broth was slightly soft, allowing you to fully taste the flavor of the soup. I topped the rice with fried garlic and lard that came on the side, then poured the remaining soup over it. Ah, it was a blissful moment.

I had some business in Asakusa, so I stopped by Ramen Watanabe for lunch! It seems like Ramen Watanabe specializes in chicken broth ramen. I was originally planning to go for the spiciest option, the red ramen, but then I noticed that the blue ramen was labeled as "even spicier than the red" so I decided to try the blue ramen! I added a seasoned boiled egg on top. The blue ramen is actually made with blue chili pepper powder sprinkled generously on top. The flavor of the blue chili pepper is quite nice. The spiciness wasn't too strong, but they have a variety of free toppings on the table like Sichuan pepper, golden chili pepper, red chili oil, and blue chili oil to add extra heat if you like! As someone who likes to customize my ramen, I really appreciated the variety of tableside toppings available (^O^) I finished off my meal by adding a splash of black vinegar for a change in taste! I thought it might be a bit heavy, but I managed to finish it all with no problem. The soup would probably go well with rice, but I resisted the temptation today. Haha.

Today, I had to go to the Asakusa area for errands. It was a bit late for lunch, but I found this shop on a side street from the shopping street and decided to try it out. I chose the black ramen (with a boiled egg) from the several types of ramen available, purchased a ticket from the vending machine, and took a seat at the counter. The ramen arrived in about 5 minutes. It looked like a rich tonkotsu ramen. The soup had a strong flavor, which I liked. The chashu was also plentiful and tender, which I enjoyed. Overall, I think it was a well-balanced and delicious ramen. I honestly don't know the origin of black ramen though!

The chicken broth noodles are delicious! It was a Sunday afternoon with a few customers. The restaurant wasn't crowded, and they are open even during off-peak hours. There is one staff member for customer service and one in the kitchen. The service is polite, and the kitchen staff seems like a skilled craftsman. They make ramen with great care, and the butterfly-shaped carrot garnish is memorable. They offer white, black, and red chicken broth noodles, with both white and black being tasty. They also provide black vinegar and spicy oil for flavor variation, which is nice.

I wandered around looking for a place to have lunch and was drawn in by the red sign at the entrance. I ordered the "Red Ramen with Egg" for 850 yen. There is also a "Blue Ramen" which is spicier than the red one. Around the counter, they have unusual condiments like red and blue chili oil, black vinegar, sansho pepper, plum vinegar, etc. When the dish was served, the vibrant red color made me happy. I took a sip of the soup and realized it was chicken broth! It has a thick texture but a refreshing aftertaste, with a nice creamy soup that is delicious. Mixing in the red chili adds a perfect level of spiciness. The chicken chashu is also tender and tasty. Despite being so delicious, the place was empty, and even the nearby chicken broth ramen shop was empty too. I wonder if chicken broth ramen is not popular in Asakusa? I enjoyed my meal today. Thank you for the meal.

Recently, I passed by a shop and saw a sign saying they started serving miso ramen. I haven't been there in a while, but I really want to go back now. However, I have a favorite shop nearby that offers limited-time specials every week, so I don't get to try other places often. Finally, I was able to visit the miso ramen shop. When I arrived at 1:35 pm, there were a few customers inside, and it seemed quite busy. The sign outside indicated that they still offer white rice for lunch until 2 pm. I used the high-tech ticket machine to order the miso ramen I wanted. There were also new menu items displayed, showing that they are making an effort. I handed the ticket to the ninja-like owner and also asked for the complimentary white rice. I sat down and my ramen was served in about 4 minutes. The white rice also arrived promptly. The miso ramen looked like tantanmen with its appearance. It seemed to be miso soup, but with ground meat similar to minced meat. It kind of looked like dandan noodles. I thought it was miso soup, right? It's not a sesame soup, but it has a hint of chili oil and ground meat on top. It seems like chili oil is added to the soup. Looking at the ticket machine's photo, there is indeed some chili oil in the soup. I took a sip of the soup and didn't feel much spiciness from the chili oil. It's definitely miso ramen soup, rich and creamy from the chicken broth. It's not too heavy, though. I added some green chili oil, but it wasn't as spicy as the red chili oil. The noodles were hot and intertwined well with the soup. The toppings included minced meat, chopped green onions, bean sprouts, and a soft-boiled egg. The soft-boiled egg was a good deal as it was included by default. I finished the noodles and they were delicious. The white rice came with lard and fried garlic, which was tasty on its own, but even better when mixed with the leftover soup. The complimentary white rice for lunch is a great deal. I would like to try their new menu items next time.

I ordered the black ramen (soy sauce) for 800 yen plus an extra 100 yen for a large portion at Ramen Watanabe, located very close to Asakusa Station. They are currently having a fair where I got a flavored egg by drawing three lottery tickets. The soup is a rich chicken broth with a slightly thick texture, enhanced with soy sauce flavor, making it quite flavorful but white broth ramen can get a bit boring towards the end. The noodles are medium thick and slightly firm, which pairs well with the soup. The toppings include two slices of chashu, carrot cut into butterfly shapes for decoration, green onions, bean sprouts, and the flavored egg I won. On the table, there are Sichuan pepper and golden shichimi for flavor variation, which helps alleviate the boredom that can come with white broth ramen. Lunch comes with a free rice service. Once again, it was delicious.

When I went to Asakusa, I decided to try this restaurant on a whim. The soup was rich but not greasy, with an elegant taste. The cold chashu on top of the ramen made the soup feel slightly lukewarm. I thought it would be even more delicious if the chashu was hot. The chashu had a firm texture rather than a melt-in-your-mouth feel. The noodles were chewy and of a normal thickness. The staff were energetic and refreshing. Overall, I think it's a good restaurant. I also tried the grilled dumplings, which were tasty but I still prefer the fried dumplings with ramen.

I had black (soy sauce) ramen for 800 yen and chicken white broth rice for 200 yen. When I handed over my meal ticket today, I was asked to choose a service ticket from two options. Unfortunately, it was a blank... Looks like there are also some duds, haha. Last time, I had the white (salt) ramen, but I don't see much difference in appearance between that and the black ramen. In terms of taste, the soy sauce one has a richer flavor, which I prefer. I'm not too concerned about whether it's MSG-free or not, but I wonder if this one is. Compared to other chicken white broths, this one has a significantly lower saltiness, and even after drinking the soup aggressively, I wasn't left feeling thirsty, which was surprising! The toppings are almost the same as the white ramen. However, while the white ramen had chicken chashu, the black ramen has pork chashu. But both the pork and chicken chashu didn't have much flavor, so I placed one piece on top of the chicken white broth rice. And let me tell you, this rice packs a punch! It's cooked with the chicken white broth soup, and served with fried garlic and lard on the side. Mixing these with the soup and eating it like a rice porridge... it's amazing!! It feels a bit sinful, but it's delicious, haha. Today's order came to exactly 1,000 yen. The soup is quite heavy, so a regular ramen and rice filled me up. If you manage to get a good service ticket, then it's definitely great value for money.
