While strolling through Asakusa, I came across a specialty store for karinto called "Karinkoron" that had a wide variety of karinto displayed at the storefront. Despite the small shop, the sight of so many karinto lined up was quite impressive. Now, onto the review. [Thick Black Sugar Karinto] 390 yen + tax ☆4.0 There were many types available, but I ended up choosing the classic black sugar flavor because I got a bit scared (lol). I wish I had been a bit more adventurous... Anyway, when I tried it, the sweetness and crunchiness were just right, showcasing the deliciousness typical of a specialty store. The thick karinto also had a satisfying texture. This is delicious!

Not Colin Star, but Karinkorin. I came here wanting to try Karinkoron, and I didn't expect there to be so many options. I couldn't decide which one to choose, but I thought ginger and plum flavors would be good as a side dish for alcohol. After trying a little, I found that they were slightly sweet, so it was okay. Maybe wine would be good. Red, right? Shochu as well. Hmm, the taste is exceptional, so it's perfect for tea time. It seems like it would be well received as a gift. Karinkoron. Thank you for the meal!

I received a souvenir. The appearance immediately tells you where you went. Loved by foreigners as well. It's Asakusa Temple, right? The packaging exudes a traditional Japanese atmosphere, making it easy for foreign visitors to reach out for the wagashi. However, the contents are not your typical flavors, with beans and karinto. It's a slightly unconventional taste like curry. Maybe more suited for Japanese tastes? You can enjoy the unique flavors. Curry is delicious. But how about for foreigners? It might be a battle with a unique taste they're not used to, especially if they're not familiar with traditional Japanese sweets. They seem more interested in the appearance and cooking process. They seek impact in foreign sweets! In that sense, it might be strong.

I purchased these as souvenirs while strolling around Asakusa. The packaging is beautiful, making it perfect for gifts. The design exudes a sense of Japanese aesthetics, which I think foreigners would appreciate as well. There are so many varieties of karinto to choose from, it's hard to decide! This time, I went with the sweet onion flavor and the savory curry flavor. The karinto is a long, thin snack-like treat with a natural sweetness from the onion, making it very delicious. On the other hand, the curry flavor is moderately spicy and once you start eating it, you can't stop. It would be perfect as a snack with beer. The packaging is so beautiful that it almost seems a shame to open it for home use.

While walking in Asakusa on November 16, I came across a bustling shop that seemed to specialize in karinto (Japanese fried dough snacks). Upon entering the shop, I found not only karinto but also beans, vegetable chips, and even rusk being sold. Intrigued, I decided to buy some as a souvenir for myself. Personally, I prefer bean-based snacks, but since today was a gourmet tour with the ladies, I had no say in the matter (sad face). Following my wife's choice, I purchased the salted caramel walnut (627 yen). The prices ranged from the 400s to 500s, with walnuts being on the pricier side. When I tried it at home, it was delicious! The large walnut coated with salted caramel had a perfect balance of sweetness that didn't overpower the walnut's flavor. It was tastier than I had expected, and I regretted not buying some karinto as well. The shop's website offers online purchases, so I might try buying from there next time. The stylish packaging design would make it a great gift for colleagues or acquaintances.

This is a shop located on the east side where Denboin-dori and Nakamise-dori intersect in Asakusa. It's been a while since I walked down this street. It's usually crowded so I don't usually come here, but today I decided to take a stroll and noticed a new shop. The exterior of the shop has lattice work and a retro feel with white walls. At first, I thought it was a hand towel store, but upon closer inspection, it seemed to be a shop selling karinto (Japanese fried snack) with familiar packaging. Inside, there were colorful packages resembling Japanese paper lined up. It had a vibrant atmosphere, and as I looked at the different products, I noticed they were not just karinto. What caught my eye was the "Asakusa limited edition" karinto with a package featuring the Kaminarimon gate. Intrigued, I purchased one for ¥540. **Food & Taste:** The packaging was unique, with a single piece of paper wrapping the karinto rather than a bag. When I opened it, I found the karinto sealed inside. The quantity seemed less than expected. I took one out, and it felt surprisingly light. When I tried it, the texture was more like crispy rice crackers than the usual hard karinto. The sweet taste of karinto was still prominent. It was my first time trying this type of karinto, and I found the light texture to be enjoyable. **Service:** The staff's service was average. **Atmosphere:** The shop had a nice balance between the chic exterior and the colorful packaging neatly displayed inside. **Value for Money:** Considering it as a souvenir, the price seemed fair. The unique texture of the karinto made it worth the price. Overall, I would rate it around 3.6. The crispy texture and light flavor of the karinto provided a fun twist on the traditional snack. The shop opened last year and according to their website, they also have stores in Kamakura and offer online shopping. While you can purchase their products nationwide, I would like to visit the store again to try other varieties and the Asakusa limited edition.

I received a gift from a close friend, beautifully wrapped in a paper that looked like a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth. I didn't want to throw it away, so I used the paper to make a book cover. The gift was "Rice Flour Non-Fried Okinawa Black Sugar Karinto". When I opened the package, I found the karinto inside a transparent resealable bag, which was great for keeping it fresh. The karinto looked like a regular one, but the color and glossiness from the Okinawa black sugar stood out. It didn't feel sticky to the touch, and the taste in my mouth was different. The crunchiness was light compared to regular karinto, and the sweetness from the black sugar was just right without any greasiness. I couldn't stop eating them, they were so delicious. My friend, who is also an athlete, has a good eye for choosing sweets. Thank you for the delicious karinto.

In my personal opinion, there are many delicious karinto (Japanese fried dough snacks) in Tokyo, and whenever I come to Tokyo, I find myself looking for karinto from shops I haven't tried before. This time, I visited a shop in Asakusa, which is conveniently located in the Nakamise shopping street of Sensoji Temple. It is quite different from the more minor shop called Kozakura in Asakusa. The variety of karinto at this shop is rich, similar to Nihonbashi Nishiki Hoirin and Azabu Karinto. I bought two types to try. The taste is not bad, but it lacks a standout flavor and is just average. In terms of taste, I think Kozakura in Asakusa is better. However, the convenient location makes it a good choice for souvenirs to give to others.

As I was walking through the backstreets of Asakusa, I stumbled upon a cute shop called "Karinkoron," a specialty store for karintou (sweet deep-fried snack) and beans. They also have a branch in Kamakura, and the shop fits perfectly with the surrounding cityscape. Among their products like karintou, beans, and rusk, I found the "Colorful Vegetable Chips - Economy Pack" for 630 yen. These chips are made by drying various vegetables such as purple sweet potato, pumpkin, okra, green beans, carrot, and lotus root. You can enjoy the natural flavors of the vegetables. I was surprised by the okra chip, which still had a sticky texture when bitten into, despite being dried. My husband was also amazed by this!

Located on the right side after passing through Asakusa Nakamachi Street, there is a cute store called Karinkoron. Inside the store, there are many cute snacks wrapped in traditional Japanese patterns, such as karinto and bean sweets. I couldn't decide which one to choose, but I finally settled on the top-selling black sesame tofu and the second best-selling rice flour non-fried Okinawan black sugar. The black sesame tofu is a snack made by wrapping peanuts with black sesame and tofu paste. It is fragrant and full of sesame flavor. The addition of tofu makes it light and not too heavy. It's really delicious. The rice flour non-fried Okinawan black sugar is not as sweet as regular karinto and has a very light texture. It's very easy to eat! It's more like a wheat snack than karinto. I finished it in no time. If I have the chance, I would like to buy it again when I go back.

While strolling through Asakusa, I came across a sign that read "karintou manjuu." I had always wanted to try karintou manjuu. The shop had a cute, retro look that blended in with the calm atmosphere of Asakusa. Inside, there were many karintou and vegetable chips on display. Unlike those sold in convenience stores, these seemed to be good for your health. The karintou manjuu I was looking for was almost sold out, with only one pack of three left. It seemed like it was a popular item. Even though there were no customers inside, maybe I had arrived after the peak hours. I ate it at home later. The manjuu had a crispy outer layer, and the sweet black syrup filling inside spread a gentle sweetness in my mouth. It was delicious.

I found a sign for karinto manju (deep-fried sweet bun) on a street just off Nakamise Street, so I decided to check out the shop. The shop seems to have recently opened, and it is small but clean inside. The shelves are filled with karinto, sweets, rusk, and even vegetable chips. They are all wrapped in cute packaging, making it fun to choose. It seems to be a popular shop, as many customers were coming in. I bought a pack of karinto manju, which looked plain compared to other products, but the Okinawan black honey flavor on the package caught my eye. The small buns have a slightly crispy skin, a fragrant black sugar flavor, a sweet red bean paste filling, and plenty of black honey in the middle. The combination of the black honey with the red bean paste is delicious. I have become a fan of karinto manju.

"Karin Koron is a shop with stores in Asakusa and Kamakura, specializing in karinto and beans. The Yuhigaura natural salt rusk with a zipper is a portion that you can easily finish. The sweet and salty rusk with kinako as an accent uses Yuhigaura natural salt from Tanba, Kyoto. The sweetness is mild. The package with the Kaminarimon design contains Uji matcha rusk. I will try it later. Asakusa Karin Koron, 2-2-4 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo."

Now, the final stop of Tokyo sightseeing is Asakusa. It's a great adventure of the rural character "Tennyan." Thanks to the smartphone, train selection is incredibly easy, and you can choose the shortest route. Thank you to a certain phone company!!! Now, we got off the train at Asakusa Station and made our way to Kaminarimon while watching many rickshaws. Well, it's not my first time in Asakusa. I came here to look for souvenirs. Of course, I walk through the shopping street, where Asakusa specialties like ningyo-yaki are lined up. But let's refrain from the famous ones!! Is there another souvenir to replace them? Yes, surprisingly, it was easy to find. It's here, at "Karinkoron Asakusa Store." It's just off the main shopping street, with a new and clean storefront that catches the eye. The inside of the store has a very simple layout. Rice flour-based karinto and bean snacks are lined up in Asakusa-style paper bags. The store is full of customers, but since it's takeout only, a little wait is fine. This time, I chose the rice flour non-fried coffee karinto and the second most popular matcha milk as souvenirs. The rice flour non-fried coffee karinto is refreshing and has a light coffee flavor, with a subtle sweetness and aroma. It's elegant. The matcha milk has beans inside, but it also has a very delicious taste with an indirect matcha aroma. Furthermore, this container was quite popular. It was delicious.

After buying bread at Paneal Pane, I walked to Nakamise. Once again, I had Asakusa menchi's menchi katsu~(*´﹃`*)♡ While savoring the menchi katsu, I strolled around alone and came across an interesting shop! Oh, it's a karinto shop(^^) They sold karinto and bean snacks♪ I was also interested in the vegetable chips but unfortunately, they were sold out. So, I bought the Umami Curry bean snack, Black Pepper bean snack, and Honey-coated Peanut Karinto(^^) ◆Umami Curry Bean Snack It has a crunchy and light texture! The curry flavor is good and the aroma is nice too! I can't stop eating it(^^) Delicious!! It's also great as a snack with alcohol!! ◆Black Pepper Bean Snack This also has a crunchy texture! The black pepper aroma is strong and the spiciness gradually builds up as you chew it~! It warms up your mouth(^^)♪ So tasty!!(●´艸`) I can't stop eating it~ haha Personally, I prefer the Black Pepper over the Curry♪ But this one is also a perfect match for alcohol!! ◆Honey-coated Peanut Karinto The karinto is a bit thick and coated with honey as the name suggests, with chopped peanuts sticking to it. Despite looking soft, the karinto is unexpectedly hard, giving a crispy and crunchy texture!!(^^) The honey has a subtle sweetness and remains gently sweet while you crunch on it, just right!!^^ The peanuts add to the texture, but their aroma isn't too strong White honey and black honey karinto were sold out due to their popularity, but based on my experience with the Honey-coated Peanut Karinto, I think all the honey-based karinto at this shop are delicious!! If only the prices were a bit cheaper though~ tears However, the packaging is cute and Asakusa-like, making it a sure hit as a souvenir!! The packaging can be reused as a book cover or wrapping paper!!

This year, a new senbei and karinto (Japanese snacks) shop called "Tokidaya Karinkoron" opened in Asakusa. The shop is located at the corner where Nakamise Street and Denbouin Street intersect. The shop has a chic exterior with a black and white color scheme. Inside, there are 15 types of beans, 15 types of karinto, and 2 types of chips displayed attractively. I bought the "Vegetable Mix" karinto (390 yen), the "Sweet Potato" karinto (460 yen), and the "Black Honey" karinto (390 yen). I gave the Vegetable Mix and Sweet Potato karinto as gifts, so I didn't taste them. However, the Black Honey karinto had a crispy texture and a rich flavor of 100% Okinawan black honey that melted in my mouth and was very delicious. It was my first time at this shop, so I only bought a few, but I regret not buying more of the Black Honey karinto. The zippered bag can keep the snacks fresh, and the traditional Japanese paper outer bag has a charming Edo-era design that can be used as a mini frame, gift wrapping paper, or book cover.

I found this shop by chance while strolling around Asakusa. It's a store that specializes in bean sweets and karinto, which just opened this year. The atmosphere of the shop is retro-modern with black as the main color. Inside, there are about 30 types of beans and karinto lined up, all wrapped in retro and cute packaging. The most popular item is the black honey karinto, but I decided to try the honey-coated peanut karinto (390 yen). Since there were no samples available, I only bought one bag f(^^;) It had a crispy and light texture, not quite like traditional karinto. I personally didn't find it to be great, but my husband said it was delicious, so I would rate the taste as a "3". (2012/06/20)

While sightseeing in Asakusa, it started raining so I took shelter at "Karin Koron." The packaging is cute and perfect for souvenirs. They have packaging featuring the Thunder Gate, making it easy to tell you've been to Asakusa. After finishing, the packaging seems like it could be reused for something. I'm not very skilled at that though. The taste is sweet karinto, so it might be too sweet for some people, but for those who are okay with it, it's easy to eat and you might end up eating too much. If I ever go back to Asakusa, it will definitely be one of the souvenirs I buy.
