I visited a hidden gem izakaya called "Charcoal Grilled Skewers Kaede" located about a 3-minute walk from Ikebukuro East Exit. After finishing work, I entered a narrow alley and was led downstairs to sit at the counter. To start off, I ordered a draft beer to say "thank you for your hard work this week." The appetizers were macaroni salad and one piece of fried chicken. I also ordered the specialty grilled pig's head, pork belly, and green onion skewers, each priced at 170 yen. The skewers were grilled over charcoal, giving them a delicious flavor. The pig's head skewer came with miso sauce from Higashimatsuyama, which added a unique touch. I also couldn't resist ordering the simmered tripe (150 yen), a must-try dish that is limited to one per person. Despite only stopping by for about an hour, I found this izakaya to be very reasonably priced and had a cozy atmosphere.

The Menchi Katsu set meal for 780 yen with spaghetti salad is a limited-time offer! While it may seem like an amazing menu, it is actually a standard menu item, but special for Kaede-san. The Menchi Katsu is fluffy yet meaty, and pairs perfectly with the sweet sauce. Personally, I think it would be even better with some mustard. And the spaghetti salad that is highlighted on the menu is really good. It has plenty of ingredients like cucumber and ham, and the seasoning is not too heavy on mayonnaise, giving it an elegant taste. The texture is smooth and enjoyable. I always think I can come here anytime, but I haven't been able to visit often. So, I'm not sure about limited-time offers or special items before or after this. It's not listed on the menu outside, so it's a surprise when you visit. Enjoy!

Today's lunch was at the charcoal-grilled skewers restaurant Kanade in Ikebukuro! I don't usually have much business in Ikebukuro, but it seems like I've been getting more Ikebukuro assignments lately. It's probably because new projects are increasing for work, which is a good thing, so I'm grateful. I prefer individual restaurants that are not chain stores and don't have many branches, so I usually try to go to unique places like that. The east side of Ikebukuro used to have quite a few cheap diner-style restaurants, but now it seems like there are a lot of large chain stores. Chain stores have reliable flavors, but they all seem the same wherever you go, and since I can only eat three meals a day, I'd like to try different flavors from various places. While thinking about that, I stumbled upon a discovery after my appointment. A small building on the B1F of a small alley off the main street. A sign for a yakitori restaurant's lunch, side dishes, and a 100 yen stewed offal. I liked that they had a variety of lunch options, but I was also drawn to the low price of the side dishes. Lunch at a restaurant with a small menu and many seats is often pre-prepared to handle the lunch rush. Having a small menu means it's crowded...which is a sign of popularity, so I'm not saying that's bad, but if I'm going to eat out and spend money, I want to eat something freshly made and delicious. I'm just a foodie. Today's order ⭐ Chicken nanban set meal Additional order Stewed offal Total 880 yen This restaurant is a hit as a lunch spot, with affordable prices and cheap side dishes, making it easy to add on. And most importantly, it's delicious. The chicken nanban is marinated and then topped with tartar sauce, which is my favorite type of flavor. The meat is firm and has a great texture. And for mayo lovers, the tartar sauce is irresistible! I don't think of myself as a mayo lover, but mayo is just so delicious, right? The stewed offal, compared to the chicken nanban, had a subtle and elegant flavor, but as someone who prefers an extra side dish or main dish with a set meal, I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal! #lunch #lunchtime #lunchideas #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunch #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunchtime #lunch

"Izakaya specializing in yakitori in Higashimatsuyama," as written on what appears to be the official Twitter account. Passing by the front of the restaurant, the words "Higashimatsuyama Yakitori" caught my attention. Not too long ago, I had just enjoyed dishes like miso-dressed kashira at a branch of "Hibiki" in the vicinity of Hon-Kawagoe Station. During lunchtime, I checked if they had dishes like "yakitori don" or "yakiton don" on the lunch menu, but it seemed to be a slightly different direction. Looking for something similar, I followed a group of older-looking salarymen who seemed like regulars as they descended into the basement of the restaurant. The restaurant was almost full even during lunchtime, and the staff seemed busy. I opted for the "Premium Grilled Chicken and Egg Bowl" (900 yen) with an additional "Lunch Motsu Stew" (100 yen) - as shown in the photo. The dish was a bit different from what I had expected, with no Mitsuba and a small amount of chicken. The meat seemed a bit tough, more so than flavorful, and the atmosphere lacked the essence of Nagoya Cochin chicken. Personally, I prefer Nagoya Cochin chicken, having eaten it at places like "Toriryo" and "Sanwa" multiple times. The flavor of the dish was lacking in depth, with a weak presence of the egg's dashi and seasoning, leaving it overall unsatisfying. The added "motsu stew," on the other hand, was quite good. Despite its subtle seasoning, the balance of flavors and the taste of each ingredient were well-maintained, making it a worthwhile addition for just 100 yen. I felt it could even be priced at 200 or 300 yen given the quality and quantity. Overall, the meal was decent, but the main dish of chicken and egg bowl fell short of expectations, leading to a slightly lower rating. Most of the apparent regulars seemed to enjoy dishes like fried chicken, chicken nanban, or the mixed set meal A, so perhaps those options would have been better. I would be willing to give it another try if the opportunity arises. (By Kyonatsu Shuusora, 4/1/2023) (52 reviews, average rating 3.39)

Katsudon for 750 yen! Ms. Kaede's katsudon is made with chicken katsu. But the portion size, egg, and sauce are all satisfying in this bowl. The chicken is also delicious! The bowl is filled to the brim with chicken katsu. The egg topping is fluffy and perfect. And the delicious sauce is so good, it almost made the rice turn into a drink. They are working hard to add new menu items. Thank you for always serving delicious food. Thank you.

I went to Tokyo Tarako Spaghetti and was amazed to see such a long line. The menu is extensive and everything looks delicious. Since it is a yakitori restaurant, I decided to try the highly recommended fried chicken set meal. It comes with two types of dipping sauces. The fried chicken itself is not too greasy, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the chicken. The rice is also delicious. It's amazing that all this costs only 720 yen. However, it was disappointing that the fried chicken was not freshly fried and was lukewarm.

On this day, I ordered mainly yakitori, all of which were delicious. The heart was juicy and the liver was fluffy. Each skewer costs 150 yen, and you can order just one. I felt that it was quite cost-effective. The restaurant has 6 counter seats and 4 tables for 4 people each. When I visited on a Friday, it was full, so it seems better to make a reservation.

I have reviewed this place 24 times already (^ ^) That's how delicious, cheap, and easy to visit it is. Maybe it's because of the good preparation of the dishes? The service is always fast, so it saves time. Since I had a tooth extracted yesterday, I was looking for something easy to swallow... and I found it here (^ ^) * Chicken soboro bowl Chicken soboro using yakitori sauce. Egg yolk in the center. It's a good balance visually (^ ^) The texture of the gentle chicken soboro meat is also nice. It has the flavor of yakitori sauce soaked in, so it tastes like grilled chicken. And of course, shichimi spice goes well with it (^ ^) Due to this recent tooth extraction, I have to get a partial denture. It's really pathetic... I hope to one day be able to chew meat vigorously again. Like Gertle's... Probably impossible (^_^) Cheers.

I visited around 11:40 on 22/08/31. There were 6 customers before me. However, more customers arrived after me, and the place quickly became full. The lunch menu includes: - Premium seared chicken and egg bowl (limited to 10 servings) 780 yen - Chicken and egg bowl 650 yen - Pork cutlet bowl 690 yen - Chicken nanban set meal 690 yen - Chicken mince bowl 600 yen - Chicken cutlet set meal 690 yen - Croquette set meal 690 yen - Fried horse mackerel set meal 690 yen - Pork shabu-shabu set meal 690 yen - Mixed set meal A (chicken cutlet and croquette) 690 yen - Mixed set meal B (chicken cutlet and fried horse mackerel) 690 yen - Mixed set meal C (croquette and fried horse mackerel) 690 yen, etc. The seared chicken and egg bowl seems to be popular. However, this time, based on information from a follower that led me to visit, I ordered the fried chicken set meal for 690 yen. The dish arrived. The fried chicken pieces are a bit smaller compared to specialty shops, but they make up for it in quantity. They were served with a drizzle sauce and grated ponzu sauce for dipping. It's nice to feel the care from the restaurant for you to enjoy your meal (happy). I dipped the fried chicken in the drizzle sauce and took a bite. I dipped it in the grated ponzu sauce and took a bite. I also tried dipping the fried chicken in the mayonnaise served with shredded cabbage (when it comes to fried chicken, this is a must) - all of them were delicious (happy). Even though it's a 690 yen set meal, they didn't skimp on the miso soup. It was miso soup with seaweed, and it had a well-balanced flavor and was delicious. Also, I have to mention that even though it's a 690 yen set meal, the rice was served in a bowl (generous!). The staff's service was polite and good. Next time, I want to try the seared chicken and egg bowl (I received a lunch drink voucher♪). Thank you for the meal~

Chicken nanban set meal 680 yen I visited after 3 months. In late March, there is a forecast for snow in Tokyo. As of 1 PM, it is sleeting in Ikebukuro. Due to this, I decided to go to the reliable Maple-san without wandering around. ※Chicken nanban set meal: Small pieces of cutlet covered in nanban sauce and topped with plenty of tartar sauce. The tangy nanban flavor goes well with the rice. I also like the potato salad that comes as a side dish. It has been a while so my free iced coffee coupon has expired. However, I received a ticket that can be used until next month. Thank you.

I finished work for the year, so I'm having a solo year-end party. I feel like I've worked hard this year. It was a fulfilling year for me. Well, I tell myself that, but ultimately, I just want to drink. I usually go to Kaede for lunch, so I decided to visit for a final meal of the year. Starting with a hot sake instead of beer. As soon as I sat down, I ordered "hot sake." The 100 yen motsu stew is a must. And skewers too. In order of deliciousness, it would be chicken liver, pork cheek, and chicken heart. I like to eat the pork cheek with spicy miso sauce. The combination of spiciness and saltiness is amazing. I drink sake little by little while enjoying the food at the counter. It was a pleasant way to end the year, self-produced. I hope to end the next year with delicious food and drinks as well. Cheers. Before that, I'll be sure to visit for lunch again. Thank you.

This is a restaurant located in a back alley underground near the east exit of Ikebukuro Station, which serves grilled pork tongue and izakaya dishes. The menu starts with grilled pork tongue, but the restaurant doesn't seem to focus solely on that. Despite the initial impression, all the dishes I tried were delicious and made with pork. I started with a draft beer and ordered the grilled pork tongue, which was seasoned with miso sauce in the style of Higashimatsuyama. The pig's head, tongue, Iberico pork belly - all were delicious (each priced at 170 yen). However, the signature grilled pork tongue dish was mysteriously missing from the menu board, adding to the sense of mystery. I also ordered the popular 100 yen simmered offal, which was surprisingly tasty for the price. Next, I tried the salted liver, which was a great accompaniment to drinks. I wish there was salt available on the table, though. I got a bit carried away and ordered the chicken rice bowl for the finale, which turned out to be a bit disappointing in terms of flavor. Overall, the experience was not bad. There were no pushy upselling tactics, the waitress was kind, they accepted card payments, and the atmosphere was comfortable due to the low number of customers. However, the feeling of unease and mystery lingered even after leaving the restaurant. Maybe I should have tried the famous pork bowl from Obihiro as a closing dish?!

Fried chicken set meal with bird meat for 650 yen. Comes with 5 pieces of fried chicken, yuzu pepper sauce, and grated ponzu. Mayonnaise is also included for flavor variation. The mayo is tangy and adds a nice touch. Fried chicken is now available everywhere, but the taste here is consistent and delicious. The set meal style and lunch value are always appreciated. Thank you.

Parent and child bowl 630 yen It's been a while since I visited Kaede-san. Inside the restaurant, there are goods promoting the Yakult Swallows. They are doing really well this season, aren't they? Maybe they'll have a championship sale soon. Exciting. **The parent and child bowl is as delicious as ever. And the price, too. It has a wonderful consistency. The slightly runny egg topping is just perfect, right before it sets. The chicken is juicy and satisfying to eat. The rice, soaked in broth, is practically like a drink. As always, this parent and child bowl from Renka is scooped up and eaten smoothly. Be sure to chew it thoroughly. Bon appétit.

Pork cutlet bowl for 680 yen, consistently delicious! This izakaya restaurant is known for its charcoal-grilled chicken, but their lunch deals are also great. The pork cutlet bowl comes with plenty of chicken cutlet and a generous amount of egg. The cutlet is delicious, the egg is flavorful and has a nice texture. The slightly rich broth seasoning is also tasty. Overall, everything is delicious, making this bowl very satisfying. There was a new sign saying, "Lunch menu available during dinner time." It may be part of their emergency measures, but it's nice to know you can also have a meal after work. I hope they can overcome the challenges of shortened business hours. Bon appétit!

Chicken minced meat bowl for 590 yen. I used a lunch drink ticket for an iced coffee. I have a toothache, but I still want to eat! I need something soft that I don't have to chew much. This is it! The chicken minced meat bowl has a raw egg yolk in the center. It is marinated in yakitori sauce, giving it a sweet and savory flavor. The meat is tender and well seasoned. When you take a bite, the flavor spreads gently in your mouth. Eating it with the egg yolk creates a gentle taste. It's easy to swallow without much chewing, making it a great choice. I also received a lunch drink ticket, so I enjoyed endless iced coffee. Delicious!

Mixed set meal 650 yen Chicken cutlet and croquette half Last time I came, I found out about the new menu croquette. I declared that I would have it next time I visited, and as promised, I had it. There are two croquette-related menus, the mixed set meal and the croquette set meal. The mixed set meal comes with 1 croquette and 2 chicken cutlets. The croquette set meal comes with 2 croquettes. Both croquettes are homemade. *The croquettes are in a round shape. The homemade croquette here has a very smooth paste-like texture with no potato texture. It feels like eating cream croquette because it is so smooth. However, there is a slight spiciness from the minced meat scattered inside. Nevertheless, it is so soft that it may crumble when picked up with chopsticks, and it is hot and sticky! It might be safer not to put it all in your mouth at once (^^) With it being so soft, it seems that care is needed to coat it with batter and fry it without losing its shape. *The chicken cutlet is thinly sliced and, as expected, the meat is tender. The frying is excellent, with a crispy texture. Now, personally, I like to have mustard and mayonnaise with fried food. It's fine if there's no mustard, but having a bit of mustard would make me even happier (^^) Craving... Delicious.

Katsudon 680 yen It's been a while since I last visited this place, hasn't it? Looking back at my previous review, it was two months ago. Hmm, is it really that long? Even though it doesn't seem like it, this is a place that I really appreciate. Now, I noticed that the lunch menu has changed! They have added croquette set and mixed fry set. In the end, I decided to go with the Katsudon. This is a chicken katsudon, with crispy fried chicken topped with plenty of egg and dashi broth. The chicken katsu, egg, and dashi were all delicious. So, I enjoyed a tasty chicken katsudon. This is my 16th review at this place, and surprisingly, it was my first time having the chicken katsudon. I guess that's why it felt special this time. Next time, I'll aim for the croquette. If I remember... (^^) Thank you for the meal.

Fuyu-san, who has a high attendance rate, enjoys the chicken Karaage set meal for 650 yen, with a special oil-drizzled sauce and potato salad on the side. The Karaage is small but you get 6 pieces, topped with chopped green onions and a sweet and sour oil sauce. It also comes with mayonnaise, which is a nice touch. The chicken is delicious, the rice is tasty, and the miso soup is good too. Considering the price, it's a very good set meal. When you pay, you'll receive a coupon for a free hot or iced coffee on your next visit. You can also get refills on your drink. Thanks for the meal!

Chicken cutlet set meal 630 yen The forecast says rain will continue this week... and it started raining again today. When it's like this, I'm not really in the mood to walk around Ikebukuro looking for lunch... In that case, it's not a bad idea to head to Kaede-san, which is fairly close to my workplace, delicious, and offers generous portions. *Comments on the chicken cutlet menu are spot on! Crispy, tender, filling - perfect. The tenderness of the chicken isn't hindered at all by the light breading. They always cook chicken dishes skillfully here. The owner is even wearing a Yakult uniform and is very enthusiastic! Bon appétit.
