Ueno Station Central Exit is a 7-8 minute walk away, while Okachimachi Station is about a 3-minute walk, making it relatively easy to access from either station. On Monday, October 17th, just after the rain had stopped, my friend and I arrived at the restaurant around 1 pm with the desire to try Thai cuisine. We had heard that it was a popular place, but luckily, when we entered, there was only one other group there, so we were fortunate to get in at the right time. Looking at the menu, despite the current circumstances, the lunch set (choose one main dish from 10 options) was only 750 yen! That's incredibly cheap! It also came with soup, salad, and a mini dessert. The special set (choose 2 main dishes from 4 options) was also available for 980 yen. It was really appreciated. Feeling hungry, I ordered the Green Curry & Gapao Special Set, while my friend ordered the Kaomangai & Pad Thai Special Set. When we asked about the spiciness level, I opted for 1 out of 4 levels (normal spiciness) for my Green Curry & Gapao, and since Kaomangai & Pad Thai were originally not spicy dishes, the spiciness meter didn't apply to them. Dishes with a chili mark on the menu indicated the spiciness level. According to the staff, levels 2 and above are quite spicy, even for Thai people. We started with a toast with Chang beer. It had a smooth taste and was easy to drink. Soon, our dishes arrived. The Green Curry & Gapao Rice had a mini portion of green curry with chunks of chicken and vegetables in a light sauce. Despite being at level 1 spiciness, it was quite spicy, which complemented the Gapao rice well. The Gapao Rice was easy to eat from the first bite, and the combination of minced meat and fried egg was undeniably delicious. The salad, soup, and mini dessert were also served. The salad, mainly consisting of leafy vegetables, had a refreshing Japanese-style dressing. The soup was a simple consomme with fish sauce, and the mini dessert was made with coconut milk. My friend's Kaomangai and Pad Thai were also shared. The tender chicken breast of Kaomangai with a ginger-flavored sauce was delicious, and the Pad Thai was filled with nuts and dried shrimp, giving it a fragrant aroma and perfectly balanced flavor. My friend was pleasantly surprised by how delicious Thai cuisine could be and was delighted by this unexpected discovery. Each restaurant has its own unique characteristics, but personally, I have decided to revisit this Thai restaurant. I would like to try the Pad Thai next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!
