I was invited by a junior colleague to have a meal in Akasaka. It was a restaurant that my junior colleague used to frequent during our time working together. It's a traditional home-style cooking restaurant. We started with a toast with lemon sour, followed by appetizers like sashimi konjac and whelk, which had a comforting taste. Then we had a special dish called "minced sashimi platter" with flounder, tuna, shrimp, octopus, along with special sauce, which was delicious and memorable. The crab cream croquette had a crispy texture on the outside and a creamy crab filling inside, which was simply delicious. The grilled beef had a deep flavor and tender texture, surprising me with its richness. The corn served on the side was also tasty. The tomato and tofu cold dish was refreshing. The scallop and sakura shrimp mixed rice for the finale was full of umami and very tasty. However, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't serve pickles and miso soup or clear soup at the end, but when I asked, I found out that it's not part of their menu. The dessert of peach and yogurt was sweet and delicious. The portion size was just right for us, not too much or too little, similar to eating at home where you can adjust according to your own appetite. This place feels like a third place, somewhere you can go when you don't want to go home yet, and just want to enjoy a meal before heading back.

One of the hidden gem lunch spots in Akasaka, Shu-san's Tamatebako Gozen for 1050 yen. There is only one option on the menu, but as soon as you enter, two-tiered bento boxes quickly appear, which is a nice touch. The hot dishes are served hot, for example, the lotus root tempura is freshly fried, and the grilled fish is freshly cooked. The portion is small and elegant, but the healthy and homemade content makes for a satisfying lunch, complete with dessert. It's no wonder this lunch spot is popular among female customers. The cold tea served in a large glass is also a nice touch, perfect for a summer moment. Thank you for the meal!

I had the Tamatebako Gozen for lunch, which not only looks beautiful but also tastes amazing. The variety of side dishes makes the rice very enjoyable. It feels luxurious to have sashimi for lunch. The wide range of seasoning options keeps the flavors interesting. I recommend it for those who like to enjoy a little bit of everything delicious.

After seeing Mairevi's post, I felt a strong desire to eat and ended up visiting Wagaya no Aji Shu-san, located in a back alley behind Akasaka BLITZ Tower. For lunch, I ordered the Two-tiered Tamagobako Meal for 1050 yen, with an extra charge of 105 yen for a large serving of rice and chawanmushi. Upon opening the lid of the Two-tiered Tamagobako, no white smoke appeared, but instead there were grilled fish, simmered fish, fried food, pickled vegetables, sashimi, and dessert. The grilled striped mackerel was fatty and delicious, while the ginger-simmered sardines with ponzu sauce sashimi on rice was very satisfying. The lotus root stuffed tempura, vinegar dish with yam and mozuku, chawanmushi, and trefoil clear soup were enjoyable as palate cleansers. I finished the meal with strawberries and almond tofu, and received a lollipop candy at the time of payment. It was a cozy and heartwarming place, reminiscent of visiting a relative's aunt's house.

In a small, inconspicuous restaurant in a back alley in Akasaka, there is a hidden gem that recently started welcoming solo diners for lunch. The restaurant has two sunken kotatsu tables and one regular table, operated by a couple. The lunch menu consists of a two-tiered bento box for 1050 yen, with the option to add a delicious chawanmushi for only 105 yen. The chawanmushi is rich and flavorful with cheese, making it a must-try. Opening the bento box reveals 5 small dishes and a dessert, with the option for rice refills. The meal includes grilled fish, simmered dishes, fried items, vegetables, and more, all delicious and worth the affordable price.

I went to a hidden Japanese restaurant in Akasaka recommended by a senior colleague. It's quite impressive, with skilled chefs. It's a place where high-ranking company executives use for secret business dinners. The elegant seafood dishes are served gradually. The restaurant has a quiet atmosphere, making it a great place for a leisurely drink.

This is a lunch that seems to be popular with women. The side dishes are all home-cooked dishes served in small dishes, similar to a kaiseki bento. You can have unlimited refills of rice. The side dishes are so delicious that you can't help but have seconds. The restaurant is run by a friendly couple, or so it seems. When you finish paying, you even get a free gift of candy.

This is a home-style restaurant located on Ennouji Street in Akasaka Go-chome. It serves izakaya dishes at night and "Tamate-bako Gozen" during the day. Despite being in a quiet alley, it is a popular spot. The restaurant is located diagonally across from Tsukiyo, with an inconspicuous brick-colored exterior. The menu is displayed outside during the day. There is a "notice" posted next to the door stating that during the day, they do not accept single diners, and at night, groups must be in units of four. You must visit with the appropriate number of people. The last visit was during the day in 2007, where I had the "Tamate-bako Gozen" with chawanmushi. I revisited during the day. The restaurant has only four table seats and a raised seating area for four people. It was empty around noon, but within 10 minutes, it was full. If you are a party of two, you may have to share a table. There are many female customers, indicating its popularity. The lunch menu changes daily and includes one option (tax included). The "Tamate-bako Gozen" costs 1,050 yen, with an additional 100 yen for chawanmushi. It comes with unlimited rice and soup. The elderly proprietress kindly offers to change any ingredients you may not like. Despite the seating restrictions and the cramped space when sharing a table, the service is warm and friendly. The dishes I ordered were as follows: - Tamate-bako Gozen (1,050 yen) - Rice, miso soup - Two-tiered bento box with five daily dishes and dessert - Handmade side dish of shredded nagaimo with shiso topping - Assorted sashimi with three pieces of white fish in sauce - Chocolate banana mousse with fruit topping - Grilled saury - Tofu with pork belly sauce and spinach topping - Shiitake mushroom and pumpkin tempura with sakura shrimp - Rice - Miso soup You can choose a piece of candy (like ramune or umaibo) at the time of payment. As a thank you for sharing a table, I also received a coin chocolate from the proprietress. The appeal of the "Tamate-bako Gozen" lies in the variety of dishes. It may be troublesome to gather the required number of people, but I would like to revisit this restaurant.

This is a story about a lunch in Akasaka. It is a Japanese restaurant located in a small alley off Enzozaka, with only 14 seats available. I visited after 2 years, arriving at 12:40 to secure a spot. I ordered the "Tamate Bento" set with chawanmushi on the side for 1,155 yen. The chawanmushi arrived first, followed by the Tamate Bento. The bento included various dishes like sashimi of Nagasaki sea bream, grilled mackerel, Ureshino hot spring tofu, tempura of shiitake mushrooms, pumpkin, and sakura shrimp tempura. The grilled mackerel was good but had many small bones. The sashimi of Nagasaki sea bream was flavorful with a gentle soy sauce dressing. The Ureshino hot spring tofu was light and tasty. The tempura items were crispy and well-fried. The black sesame and banana mousse for dessert had a nice balance of sweetness. The miso soup and rice were also delicious, with the staff even offering a rice refill. Overall, the service was good, and I received a complimentary Umaibo snack on my way out. It was a shame that there was too much grilled mackerel in the bento.

After a long time, I had the Tamatebako Gozen at "Wagaya no Ajishu" in Akasaka. It had been a while since I last visited this popular restaurant, which I used to frequent when it first opened about 20 years ago. Tucked away in a quiet alley off Enzozaka, the unassuming exterior of the restaurant still exudes its charm. I arrived around 12:30 PM and was seated in a cozy tatami room after a brief wait. The Tamatebako Gozen, featuring 29 different dishes, was beautifully presented in a two-tiered bento box. Each dish was meticulously prepared and offered a perfect balance of flavors. The price was reasonable at 1050 yen, and to top it off, we each received a nostalgic candy as a gift during the bill payment. The meal brought back memories of my late colleague, making it a sentimental and delightful dining experience.

We came to this restaurant for a welcome and farewell party. It was a small restaurant with about 15 people, but the food was very delicious. We had a course meal that started with chawanmushi, followed by sashimi with aromatic vegetables, a salad with dried baby sardines and hot oil for added crunch, onsen tofu, and ended with a rice dish similar to hitsumabushi with a strong flavor of sansho pepper. It was all very delicious. The drink menu included about 6 different types of sake to choose from, ranging from Eikawa, Yoshinogawa, and Tanigawadake to Minamitohoku and Shimanto River. We were very satisfied.

Accompanied by a colleague on my first visit. The quiet atmosphere in the narrow alley was nice. I heard that you need to make a reservation for a group of 4, and I thought it was a bit high-handed, but I guess it's because the minimum unit is 4 people due to the amount of the final clay pot rice. The clay pot rice is so delicious! Just like other reviews mentioned, the chawanmushi, assorted tofu, sashimi with finely chopped garnishes, crab cream croquette, jyako salad, clay pot rice, pickles... everything was top-notch. If I had to point out something, the shredded cabbage under the croquette was "just ordinary" and the overall portion of the course was slightly small for men. It would be nice if you could order one more dish (of course, for an additional fee). The final rice dish was delicious like eel with sansho pepper (hitsu-mabushi). I think it was actually sardine, but it was so delicious that I asked for seconds. There were many types of junmai sake in the all-you-can-drink menu, and I enjoyed it with the food. This is a restaurant that I would definitely like to visit again.

I visited the restaurant for lunch with colleagues from the visiting company. We left the office at 11:30 and walked for a little over 5 minutes. It was our first visit. There was a sign in front of the restaurant saying "We do not accept solo diners as we do not have a counter." Lunch consisted of only one option, with 5 side dishes and dessert in a bento box for each person. The meal included sashimi, croquette, grilled salted mackerel, pickled vegetables, pork and vegetable with sesame sauce, and apple yogurt. The flavors were all gentle and delicious. I could feel that each dish was carefully handmade. In particular, the pork and vegetable with sesame sauce was outstanding, made from freshly ground sesame seeds. Thank you for the meal.

Located behind the Akasaka TBS Building, this restaurant is a bit hard to find at first glance. The lunch menu consists of one option, the "Tamate Bako Gozen," which comes with a choice of adding Chawanmushi, which I highly recommend for Chawanmushi lovers. The hot Chawanmushi with a gentle dashi broth is comforting. The bento box includes a variety of dishes such as Menchi Katsu, sashimi, Hoke, beef tendons, and side dishes, along with rice and miso soup, of course! The generous portions of side dishes may lead you to overeat rice unintentionally. Finally, you receive a bonus snack from the owner, which is a nice touch to end the meal. Thank you for the meal!

A story about a Akasaka lunch spot. There is a dentist on the way up Enzozaka, and if you turn into the alley there, you will find the restaurant. It's truly a hidden gem, popular among women. The restaurant is small, so it's best to go early or be prepared to wait. Recently, they have implemented a rule that solo diners are not allowed, you must be in a group of two or more to have lunch. When you turn into the alley, you will see the sign. The menu for today's "Tamate Bako Gozen" is posted outside. It includes "Tuna and Five-Ingredient Okara Salad," "Assorted Sashimi," "Grilled Mackerel," "Pork Cutlet with Yuzu Pepper Sauce," "Cream Croquette," and "Homemade Dessert." It's said to provide nutrients from 31 different items. All this for 1,050 yen. With a chawanmushi included, it's 1,155 yen. There are only 3 tables in the raised seating area, so sharing a table is common. Today, the place is bustling with women. There is only one menu item, so you can enjoy hot tea while waiting. Today we didn't get the chawanmushi, but the 105 yen extra chawanmushi is smooth and delicious. It arrived in about 5 minutes. A two-tiered bento box. And rice and miso soup. It's fun to open up the two tiers. From fried dishes, grilled dishes to dessert, there are 6 colorful items in small dishes. The grilled mackerel is moist and delicious. The sashimi is white fish sashimi soaked in ponzu and grated daikon from the start. It's unexpectedly delicious. The tuna and five-ingredient okara salad has a good texture with vegetables and smooth okara. The pork cutlet with yuzu pepper sauce is a nice change of pace. And the fried dishes are a menchi-like item and a cream croquette. The homemade taste is great. The bechamel sauce was delicious. And the dessert is coffee and cocoa blancmange. The sweetness is just right. While many bento boxes have a lot of simmered dishes and can be repetitive, it's nice to see the variety and creativity here. You can get a refill of rice, and the female owner will recommend a refill for male customers at the right time. At the end of the meal, they give out small snacks like Umaibo or candy as souvenirs (you can choose), and thank you for sharing the table. I also received a chocolate. Thank you for the meal. It's also quite good at night.
