【Background】I was impressed by the eel at a sushi restaurant I visited with a junior colleague in the past, so I wanted to revisit with friends. We went with a total of 4 people this time.
【Interior】There were 3 men drinking at the counter and our group of 4. The interior had a TV, two tables with cushions in the counter and tatami area. It was an old-fashioned sushi restaurant in the town.
【Food】
- Ordered the chef's selection:
Sashimi platter (fatty tuna, sea bream, flounder, ark shell), eel, simmered cod, butter-fried squid with eggs, nigiri sushi
- The eel had a crispy skin and tender meat, no fishy smell, good eel as before but not as impressive as last time in October.
- The butter-fried squid with eggs was a surprise highlight. Simple but delicious with the aroma of the sea and the sweetness of the squid.
- Finished the nigiri, gunkan sea bream, flounder, sea urchin, salmon roe, negitoro roll, pickled mackerel, and grilled head meat. Despite being full, we couldn't resist ordering the recommended negitoro roll by the chef. The chef's selection offers plenty of dishes, so you can order your favorites while enjoying drinks and finish with a light nigiri.
【Chef】
After the 3 men left, we were the only customers left, and the chef started chatting with us. The history of sushi and the chef's anecdotes were entertaining and made the drinks flow. I enjoyed listening to the chef's stories.
【Bill】
We were full and ordered various drinks like bottled beer, sake, Hiresake, and shochu (I had about 5 cups of sake). The total bill was 12,000 yen per person.
【Summary】
There are many popular sushi restaurants these days, but sometimes the high-end and glamorous atmosphere can be intimidating. This restaurant allows you to dine comfortably without any worries. I would definitely like to revisit.
