・It's a somewhat delicate situation, can't let your guard down... On days when you avoid Ameyoko and Akihabara, head east to Asakusabashi - "Sichuan Shokudo", might be worth checking out. This place used to be "Handmade Dining and Bar Bakaru" which opened in September 2020, but now it's "Sichuan Shokudo KARyu" after about a year. It seems to have gained some popularity with only 9 reviews as of April this year. It originally was in Chiba City, Wakaba Ward, and then moved. A familiar area, albeit a bit thin, "Menya KARyu". What was reassuring was the change in the name from the previous "Handmade Dining and Bar Bakaru". The new direction of "Sichuan Shokudo KARyu". The management is different from Bakaru, which is a relief. The previous store and the current one both have "KARyu" in the name, so it seems like there's a connection. The menu is displayed with a ticket vending machine, making it easy to understand. Lately, there's been an increased sense of caution towards new restaurants; you can try noodles and fried rice, a thoughtful menu. Recommended items include A: Chinese soba with daily mini rice, B: Authentic Sichuan mapo tofu set meal, C: Drooling chicken cold noodles. Without hesitation, I chose "Recommended A" at the ticket vending machine. Before issuing the ticket, I asked, "Can I have the noodles firm?" OK. A few minutes later, the "Chinese soba with eatable chili oil fried rice" arrived. First, the ramen, Chinese soba. The bowl has a thick, earthenware feel, which may cause it to cool down later. The noodles have a texture that is not bad but not great, a typical Chinese restaurant noodle perhaps. I wasn't really in the mood for it, feeling somewhat sympathetic towards the restaurant lately. The chili oil fried rice was surprisingly delicious, with a strong fried flavor - even just this was satisfying. I tried to find other fried rice options, but only the "Today's recommended mini fried rice" was available. The other rice menu items were "Mini Mala Mapo Don" and "Mini Lu Rou Rice". The firmness of the rice was good, so other rice dishes might be tasty too. I wanted more of this fried rice; it was that good. Some didn't feel like drinking the soup from the Chinese soba, maybe it didn't match the texture of the noodles. It seemed like focusing on the fried rice as the main dish would have been a better choice. I wanted a set with half fried rice and half ramen. That's all for now.
