I checked out a restaurant known for their lard fried rice. I was sure that fried rice with lard would be absolutely delicious. I visited the restaurant on a holiday. Sunday around 12:15, there were 5 people waiting outside the restaurant. I lined up and a kind customer suggested, "If you're alone, you can get in right away, so try asking the staff." I was able to enter quickly, and I sat at the counter. - Lard Fried Rice 1,050 yen The restaurant was small and it was a tight squeeze for the staff to pass through. Everyone was ordering various dishes. There were also many delivery orders, so it seemed very busy. While waiting, I looked at the menu. It seems to be selected as one of the top five fried rice dishes in Tokyo. When I searched online, I found the following rankings: - [Ogikubo] Chinese Restaurant Tokudai "Spinach Fried Rice" - [Fudomae] Chinese Restaurant Ajiichi "Lard Fried Pork Fried Rice" - [Ueno] Chin-Chin-Ken "Chahan" - [Nippori] Issuntei "Chahan" - [Itabashi] Marufuku "Chahan" (There are various rankings, so this is just for reference) Here is the introduction to the fried rice: "We cook special rice for fried rice, and we continue to shake the pot every day to try to get closer to the taste of the old memories of 'the best taste' that was once the best in Japan, with a focus on the amount of oil, eggs, and the way it is stir-fried." Here is the introduction to the lard fried rice: "Cooked with a soup made from Oyama Jidori chicken, the lard is simmered to remove any smell and excess fat, then placed on top of the fluffy fried rice to add richness and umami, creating the only fried rice in Japan that is enhanced with lard." The lard fried rice is a certified trademarked product. This makes me even more excited. After 5 minutes, the soup arrived first. It was a rich-looking soup that I had never seen in a local Chinese restaurant. The umami flavor was strong, and the aftertaste was refreshing. This alone was worth it. 2 minutes later, the fried rice arrived. Even the regular portion was quite generous. Plenty of lard on top! The fried pork was cut into large pieces and there was plenty of it on top of the fried rice! There were also plenty of eggs and diced kamaboko. When I took a bite, the umami flavor was amazing. I haven't been this impressed by fried rice in a long time! The lard was incredibly delicious! The pork was tender and juicy, yet it wasn't heavy at all, with a mysterious flavor. The fried rice itself was delicious too. It was fluffy, but each ingredient's moisture was well-preserved, making it moist as well. It was delicious even without the lard. I finished it in no time. I was so impressed by the fried rice. My stomach was completely satisfied. Thank you for the meal.
