During the hot summer season, everyone was ordering curry soba a lot! The customer next to me said that if you don't eat it, withdrawal symptoms will appear, which makes me curious. I had the cold zaru soba for 500 yen, and even though it had only a few toppings, there was something unique about it that you couldn't find anywhere else!

I arrived at Tanaka-ya, a 5-minute walk from Asakusabashi Station. The place was almost full, with table seating and standing soba options for 1250 yen. I chose the cold soba for 450 yen, with extra noodles for an additional 50 yen. It arrived in 6 minutes, simple with tempura, naruto, and spinach. I also ordered a beer for 500 yen, sake for 400 yen, and pickles for 50 yen. The place felt like a blast from the past with its prices.

I passed by a soba restaurant that caught my attention multiple times. I was hesitant to enter because of the low prices on the menu outside, wondering if it was really good. There was a sale nearby and all the lunch spots were crowded. I tried a few places but couldn't get in. So I decided to give this soba restaurant a try. There were 4 people waiting outside, but the turnover seemed fast and we were seated in about 5 minutes. I ordered a bottle of beer and tempura soba. The beer was cheap and refreshing, and the tempura soba was also reasonably priced. The freshly fried shrimp tempura was small but had a perfect crispy texture that went well with the soba broth. The soba itself was delicious as well. It seemed like a family-run business and they were very hospitable. I would like to try their curry soba next time. I'm glad I decided to go in. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch at Tanakaya was a set of katsudon and mori soba for 950 yen, but I ordered them separately. The mori soba had a nostalgic, sweet broth, and the tonkatsu was slightly light but flavorful. The katsudon had perfectly cooked rice with a deliciously flavored tonkatsu on top. It was a winning combination!

Today's lunch was at Tana Kaya in Asakusabashi. I ordered the most expensive menu item I had never tried before, the pot-cooked udon. The price was a shocking 650 yen. I don't think you can find this price anywhere else. When the dish arrived, I couldn't help but wonder, "Is this really 650 yen?" It looked and tasted amazing. I was secretly impressed and finished it all. So delicious!

I came here because the meatball rice bowl I wanted to eat was closed (?). I had the chilled dipping soba for 450 yen. It was close to 1:30 pm and there was one customer before me and 4-5 customers after me. The smooth, thin, chewy soba noodles with cold broth were delicious! I recommend getting the large portion because the regular size might not be enough. Thank you for the meal!!!

A proper soba restaurant with prices similar to standing soba shops, only 500 yen. It's a great value for the quality.
- Order: Curry Nanban for 500 yen. The soup with added thickness and dashi is piping hot. It includes pork, green onions, and the noodles are on the softer side. Other menu items range from 370 yen for a generous soba portion to 650 yen for tempura rice bowl. Even if the taste may not be top-notch, the cost performance is excellent.
- Miscellaneous: Traditional square chairs with seat cushions. This shop near John Dory was selected as one of the Bistro Top 100 in 2021.

I was amazed by the speed of service and efficiency! There were three people working in the kitchen, handling soba, udon, rice bowls, and everything was served quickly without making customers wait. I have been ordering the large portion of soba every day recently. It's fast, delicious, and affordable - a perfect combination! For just 450 yen, my stomach is satisfied. This popular restaurant is full of energy. If you have the chance, make sure to try it out!

Today's lunch was at Tanakaya, a place I haven't been to in a while. The curry nanban for 500 yen and the extra-large soba for 550 yen were surprisingly affordable. The traditional soba restaurant atmosphere was very charming. The reliable taste was very likable. I quickly finished my meal and left. Around noon, the restaurant was predictably crowded, with a line forming outside as well.

At Isshintei, after enjoying the tricolor rice, I headed to another restaurant I had my eye on, only to find out that it was closed for the day. Disappointed, I ended up at this place instead. It had a traditional-looking exterior and was already bustling with customers. I arrived at 12:00 and managed to find a seat at a table in the middle of the restaurant. I quickly ordered the "Torinan Ban Soba" for 500 yen and looked around the cozy interior. The small restaurant had a nostalgic charm with its four tables, one two-seater table, and one single-seater table. It quickly filled up, and I found myself sharing a table with others. There was no background music, and the lighting from the ceiling gave off a Showa-era vibe. The decor around the restaurant showcased craftsmanship that is hard to come by these days. The customers were mostly men, with a few women sprinkled in. Finally, my order arrived after a 10-minute wait. The bowl of soba looked small but packed with noodles. The soba noodles were thin and cooked perfectly, with a nice chewy texture. The broth had a sweet and savory flavor without being too salty. The chicken was tender and well-seasoned, and the thinly sliced green onions soaked up the broth beautifully. I finished the meal quickly, impressed by the quality of the dish for its price of 500 yen. It may be a simple meal, but it was done well. For those who prioritize value for money, this place is definitely worth a try. Thank you for the satisfying meal. The service was a bit abrupt, but overall, it was a great experience. To be continued...

I suddenly felt like eating curry udon because it got cold. The presentation of the dish was really nice, it reminded me of a school cafeteria. The steam was rising, and the atmosphere inside the shop was cool. I took the first bite and it tasted sweet. The thick broth was delicious, with a hint of Worcestershire sauce flavor. It was also good with shichimi spice. The soba noodles were smooth and plentiful. The thickness of the broth was just right, and I slurped it all up! I was completely satisfied. It also filled me up well. And all of this for only 500 yen!!! Isn't that super cheap? I think it's even better than the soba chain near the station. It gave me a nostalgic feeling, and it was heartwarming to see the couple running the shop (the husband was engrossed in watching sumo on TV). They served the dish quickly, within 2-3 minutes, which was great. Since the broth was so flavorful, I bet their cold noodle dishes are also delicious. I would definitely go back when it warms up to enjoy the soba flavors again. If it's cold, I'll go for the hot noodles next time!

On the way back from Smell, I ended up stopping by Tanaka's house next to Jonty's, which was unexpectedly open. I had just eaten toast, so I didn't even look at the menu and just ordered the cold soba. But when I looked at the menu, I was surprised. The cold soba was only 370 yen. The curry soba was also 500 yen, which seemed cheaper than standing soba places. The cold soba was made with properly boiled noodles, had a good texture, and was delicious.

The restaurant has a nostalgic atmosphere and the flavors are excellent! The prices are surprisingly cheap! You can be satisfied with just 1000 yen and still get change back! The sweetness of the noodle soup and the katsudon are just right, although the portion sizes may be a bit small. The serving size is normal though! I recommend trying it at least once.

I visited a shop that appeared on NTV's program "every" around February, where they were doing takeout. The shop seemed to close early at night, and I hadn't seen it open much. Maybe it was because of the state of emergency... This time, I was able to visit during lunchtime with paid leave, so I went for lunch on Monday. There were regular customers, office workers, and a few solo customers inside. The shop is simple with no extra decorations! The staff doesn't engage in unnecessary conversation and give a quiet impression. I could see the husband and wife cooking in the back, and I heard their lively voices. I ordered the "Curry Nanban Soba" that was featured on TV. Surprisingly, it was only 500 yen. A curry soba for just one coin is so appealing! The noodle portion was small, and the curry was on the sweeter side. My husband, who was with me, also added a 100 yen rice set. Since the noodle portion was small, the rice set might be a good option. We finished our meal quickly and left. We paid a total of 1,100 yen for both of us. We had a reasonable lunch. Thank you for the meal.

I had a Mori Soba for 370 yen and a Katsudon for 580 yen, totaling 950 yen at a local soba shop near a intersection within walking distance from Asakusabashi. They don't offer set meals, probably because they are already reasonably priced and allow customers to mix and match freely. It felt like a taste of the Edo spirit, where the idea of a half-sized set meal would seem too fancy. If this shop was nearby, it would be very convenient. I personally feel like it's worth more than 3.5 stars, but my algorithm doesn't allow for flexibility.

I had cold tanuki soba (450 yen) at Tana-ka-ya, a nearby soba restaurant, on a day when I was working from home. The soba was topped with chopped naruto and spinach, in addition to the tanuki. The soba was delicious, and I enjoyed finishing the meal by drinking soba-yu and refreshing my palate with wasabi. It's great that you can enjoy such delicious soba at a reasonable price.

Moegi Soba is a nostalgic soba restaurant with a Showa-era atmosphere, located about a 10-minute walk from Asakusabashi Station. The interior, built by craftsmen in the downtown area, features sand walls and is kept clean. The prices are very reasonable, and the soba noodles, with their sharp edges, are excellent. The owner's cheerful greetings add to the great atmosphere. During lunchtime, there may be a line, but regular customers eat quickly and make space for others. If you're looking for a quick and delicious soba meal, this is the place to go. The chilled or hot soba noodles are both recommended, and the curry nanban and winter specials are also great choices.

I found a delicious cold kitsune soba! When looking at the menu, I also found curry rice! I couldn't decide which one to choose, so I activated the rule of the glutton! Cold kitsune soba for 430 yen + curry rice for 550 yen. The soba had a rich broth and was slightly warm! The kitsune had a rich flavor and tasted delicious when eaten together! The nori was shredded! The curry was like a mix between restaurant curry and homemade curry. It was hot and delicious! Both items were under 1,000 yen! Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by on a hot afternoon. The soba restaurant had a nice atmosphere in the town. The shop was smaller than I expected, so I had to share a table. There were many menu options, and I had a hard time deciding, but I chose the cold kitsune udon, which I don't usually eat. There were also many rice bowl options at very affordable prices. I wish they had set meals, but just the noodles or rice bowls might cost around 1,000 yen.

Tona Kakeya @ Next to Jonty (Asakusabashi 2-chome) - Delicious soba at a reasonable price. Next to the renowned Alsatian restaurant Jonty, there is a long-established soba restaurant that offers delicious soba at a low price. The kakesoba (soba noodles in broth) is only 370 yen! It's as affordable as fast food. The old yet well-maintained interior of the restaurant is very calming. I tried the cold kitsune soba, which came with green vegetables and naruto (fish cake) as garnish. The well-cooked aburaage (fried tofu) was delicious. The sweet and salty flavor reminds me of the old downtown area where I grew up, and it makes me happy. The clear broth paired well with the thin and smooth soba noodles, settling nicely in my stomach. It was so delicious! It's amazing that you can order both a rice bowl dish and soba noodles and still stay within 1,000 yen. Instead of going to chain restaurants with mass-produced food, I want to support independent restaurants like this one that operate earnestly and properly.
