I had a morning natto set meal and salad. I was feeling hungry early in the morning and remembered that Yoshinoya offers morning set meals. I'm really hungover so I don't think I can eat beef bowl, but I have to eat something. I decided to go there. I found it! Natto set meal! It looked light and good. I also added a salad, which was much appreciated. Although they offer free extra rice and large portions, I can't eat that much. I rolled the rice with seaweed and it was delicious. I'm grateful.

I went to Omotesando with my wife as her companion. I had some free time until she finished her errands, so I wandered around and ended up feeling hungry. I thought about having soba, but considering the area, it might be pricey, so I went to Yoshinoya instead. I ordered the pickles set, but they brought me the salad set. Oh well, it's fine. I can get some vegetables in. The taste was the usual delicious beef bowl.

I came to Harajuku and decided to try the Chicken Karaage Donburi (475 yen). The area has changed a bit with the new station building, but Takeshita Street is still bustling with young people. I wanted a quick lunch without the trendy atmosphere, so I noticed a banner at Yoshinoya offering 10% off on their chicken karaage. It had been a while since I last had chicken karaage from Yoshinoya, so I decided to give it a try. The donburi arrived with a small amount of cabbage on top. The chicken karaage was hot and freshly fried. I added some soy sauce for extra flavor. As I was getting a bit tired of the soy sauce flavor, I discovered some mayonnaise hidden under the chicken. I hesitated at first, but the combination turned out to be surprisingly delicious. The total bill was less than 500 yen after the discount, which was a nice surprise in these times of price increases.

Beef bowls have become more expensive, haven't they? I usually order the "Negi-daku" as a little luxury at Yoshinoya, but even the regular size costs 588 yen. That seems a bit high. While the extra serving of onions is nice, personally I prefer the onions to be softer and more flavorful. And a beef bowl for 588 yen? I think it should be under 500 yen, like a one coin dish. I give it a recommendation score of 60 points.

Tsukimi Gyudon (beef and egg over rice) regular size, tax included 602 yen. It is a significant price increase compared to a regular beef bowl, but it offers a satisfactory amount of ingredients. It has a generous volume of toppings, almost comparable to a large size beef bowl. The taste of the egg complements the beef bowl well. The additional egg on top adds a rich and balanced flavor. Wait a minute, could this be the reincarnation of the failed Oyakodon (chicken and egg over rice) ingredients from the other day? The name "Tsukimi" seems like a passing trend, but secretly, it might be setting the stage for the rebirth of the Oyakodon after 10 years of development. If that's the case, it's interesting and commendable.

Did the rainy season end? June 25, 2022 Oyakodon @ Yoshinoya Today, I took a little trip to Tokyo. I departed early in the morning and got off at Yoyogi-Uehara station, then decided to walk to Ginza. I was planning to have breakfast after getting off at Yoyogi-Uehara, but there weren't many restaurants, so I ended up having breakfast in Harajuku. I visited Yoshinoya. Even though I have passed by this restaurant many times, this was my first visit. I ordered the Oyakodon as they are soon discontinuing it. Now, let's dig in. It's quite delicious. The egg is fluffy and not overcooked, and the meat is well-seasoned. Perhaps the price and popularity were a bit off. I personally enjoyed it though. It was a tasty meal. Thank you for the meal.

There is a shop at the entrance of Takeshita Street. Follow the eye-catching sign and head towards the back of the building. I stopped by on a Sunday morning and noticed that there were many young customers, making the atmosphere lively. The first floor of the building has counter seats, and there is also seating on the second floor. For Sunday morning breakfast, I had the Ham and Egg Beef Small Bowl Set (503 yen including tax). It was nice that you could get a free extra serving of rice. The set included a salad with mayonnaise, a small bowl of beef, and ham and eggs. The sunny-side-up egg on the ham and eggs was perfectly cooked. There are various ways to eat it, depending on the person. I started by having the mini beef bowl first, then put the sunny-side-up egg on the rice, cracked the half-cooked yolk, and drizzled soy sauce over it. With the ham and miso soup, I was full and satisfied. Yoshinoya's breakfast is delicious and reasonably priced. Thank you for the meal!

Yoshinoya in front of Harajuku Station. Oh, Yoshinoya is located at the entrance of Takeshita Street in Harajuku. I wonder how much the rent is here! The first floor has only a counter. The second floor is quite spacious. I always order the same thing at Yoshinoya. Regular size beef bowl with miso soup and salad set. I like to put a lot of pickled ginger on it. And I have to sprinkle shichimi too. I mix the egg and pour it all over. I start with the salad. With sesame dressing. The combination of pickled ginger and beef is excellent. I should use it more for lunch!!

I had lunch at "Yoshinoya Harajuku Takeshita Entrance Store" located at the suspicious passage in front of the station. I ordered "Gyudon (regular) + Set A (¥500 including tax)" in the counter-only seating area. When I took a sip of the miso soup, I noticed there were no ingredients in it. It was just the broth. I informed the staff, and after a while, they brought me miso soup with ingredients. The Gyudon had a slightly sweet sauce, and it was a nice experience to taste Yoshinoya after a long time.

When you exit JR Harajuku Station, you will immediately notice this Yoshinoya. I remember when I first visited Harajuku in my younger days, feeling nervous and excited, and when I saw Yoshinoya, I felt a bit relieved (laughs). On this day, I visited Harajuku late at night after a long time. I thought about finding a place to have a drink, but when I saw this place, I decided to go in after opening the door. → What I ordered: Gyudon with raw egg set @630 When I entered the restaurant, there were no other customers, probably because it was late. I sat at the empty counter and looked through the menu. The seasonal limited menu, Gyudon with raw egg set, seemed appealing, so I decided to order it. When I placed my order, the staff, who seemed tired, was not very friendly and seemed a bit sullen. It's common during this time, so I tried not to mind it too much, but still... The Gyudon with raw egg set was served. It had a pretty good presentation. I usually order regular Gyudon or Negitama Gyudon when I come to Yoshinoya, so it exceeded my expectations. However, in the menu photo, the raw egg on top of the Gyudon looked very appetizing, but the egg was served separately. I tried to imitate and pour the egg on top myself, but it ended up falling to the bottom instead of staying on top. I should have been more careful (laughs). The taste was good, with plenty of egg on top of Yoshinoya's beef base, so it didn't disappoint in any strange way. Now, it's time to pay. The staff's sullen attitude remained unchanged. My mood improved after having the Gyudon with raw egg set. Customer service is really important after all.

A new "Sugi Pharmacy" opened in front of Takeshita-guchi, which is convenient as they also handle prescriptions. While picking up medicine, decided to have lunch around the area. However, there weren't many appealing dining options, so ended up going to Yoshinoya for a safe choice. I usually don't go to Yoshinoya for just beef bowls, only when they have limited time or special items that catch my interest. The first floor was full, so had to go to the second floor. It was also almost full, with many inbound tourists. A young man who seemed Vietnamese was struggling to manage a large table by himself, and an older man was scolding him for being slow. The older man left without paying, which was embarrassing as a fellow Japanese. Anyway, let's focus on enjoying my meal. The menu didn't have the "Barley Melted Beef Bowl" that I wanted, which I later found out is only available after 3 pm. Feeling a bit lost, I debated whether to try the "Oregon Curry," a curry dish inspired by a character from a game app I didn't know, or to go for something healthier like the "Pork and Grilled Salmon Set." Eventually, I settled for the latter, adding two pieces of fried chicken for extra flavor. It turned out to be a decent meal, nothing extraordinary. But I must say, the thinly sliced salmon was quite impressive. I'm proud that I could write such a long review about Yoshinoya, patting myself on the back.

I tried Yoshinoya's Spicy Chicken Curry belatedly. I was surprised. It was more delicious than I expected. The gravy had a strong cumin flavor with a hint of cardamom. It's inevitable to compare it with Matsuya, but when it comes to the chicken, well, it's just that the chicken is bigger than the usual chicken curry, and that's about it (of course, assuming that the curry is one step above in terms of taste among chain restaurants). In that sense, Yoshinoya has evolved from being not tasty at all, so I think this is a great thing. If you're hesitating about trying Yoshinoya's curry, I recommend trying it at least once. Also, it might be a good idea to try it with a RIZAP salad, without rice, and with the curry sauce on top.

This is the Yoshinoya restaurant at JR Harajuku Station, specifically at the Takeshita exit, right at the entrance of Takeshita Street. I'm not sure why this chain restaurant is located in such a place. I had to grab breakfast here as the Yamanote Line stopped in the morning, so it was an emergency choice. The interior of the restaurant is cramped with only a counter. There are a few sliding doors for entry, and I sat at the counter in the back and ordered the breakfast set with ham, egg, and small beef bowl for 490 yen. The food arrived quickly with rice, miso soup, salad, and a sizzling hotplate with ham, egg, and a small beef bowl. It was a reasonably priced meal. I placed the ham and egg on top of the rice and ate it like a bowl dish. I then added the beef bowl and pickled ginger to finish it off. It was a good breakfast set with the option to enjoy different flavors. Additionally, you get a 2% discount if you pay with a code-based payment method.

On 13th September, I visited a restaurant before heading to Yoyogi Park for an event called Idol Canvas, where the selected members of Moe Kore Gakuen were performing. The restaurant was unique with two entrances, and I ordered a regular size beef bowl with extra sauce. The beef bowl had a lot of sauce, almost like a tea soup, but the taste was good as expected from Yoshinoya. I secretly wished I had ordered the limited-time autumn mackerel set meal that the person next to me was eating. After finishing my meal, I hurried to the Yoyogi Park outdoor stage for the event!

In the morning, the beef and raw egg dish was disappointing because the rice was cold. The Harajuku store has inconsistencies. I think it depends on the timing at each store. I believe the Yurakucho store is consistent.

Beef yakiniku bowl, regular size, with egg. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between this and a regular beef bowl. Maybe it had some green onions on top? I think it's just a regular beef bowl. It was delicious though, so that's good.

It's not a central kitchen, so it may vary depending on the restaurant? The best time to taste the most delicious beef is during the busy lunch hours! I am a beef bowl fan!
