In the town of Sakamachi, there is a restaurant called Sano-ya. I am a big fan of their fried chicken, but today I tried their pork cutlet and it was delicious. The pork cutlet here is really good, and the seasoning is just right. It comes with a large piece of cutlet and plenty of rice. I can't imagine anyone not being satisfied with this. Lately, many people have been getting takeout, so there is often a long line. However, on a rainy Saturday morning, there was no one there. It was a cool day compared to the recent hot weather, so I also got a set with miso soup. It tasted refreshing, maybe because it was freshly made and not overcooked. I highly recommend not only their fried chicken but also their cutlet. I declare them the representative of fried foods in Sakamachi. Thank you for the meal once again.

Yotsuya-saka-machi is a bento shop famous for its large fried chicken, but today I decided to order the Pork Saute Bento for 600 yen. The Pork Saute is a dish where pork is sautéed and topped with honey mustard. It could also be good with demi-glace sauce, sweet and spicy mirin soy sauce, or ginger soy sauce. The bento comes with a long curry croquette, shredded cabbage, and pickled cucumbers. It's a shame that there are hardly any bento shops or delis in the area around Akebonobashi Station, Yotsuya, and Ichigaya, and they only operate during weekday lunch hours. But for the residents in the vicinity, this shop is a valuable find.

From Toei Shinjuku Line "Akebonobashi" station, head towards the Ministry of Defense along Yasukuni Street and turn right into the back alley of Yotsuya-zaka-machi. There stands "Sanoya," a bento shop that used to be a butcher shop. The expectation level rises significantly with a bento shop that was originally a meat shop. The large portion chicken karaage bento for 650 yen is a reliable ally for the strong workers and salarymen working nearby. It's a feeling where you can't help but shout out loud with your colleagues, "Karaage is the best!" (*^^*) Note: Nori-tama (seaweed and egg topping) is not included.

In Sakamachi, there is a place called Sano-ya. Whenever I crave for fried chicken, I always think of their fried chicken. I love their "Karaage Bento" which comes with 5 large pieces of thigh meat fried chicken. Sometimes, if you go at the right time, you might encounter freshly fried ones, which is a stroke of luck. This time, I had the Karaage Bento again and confirmed its deliciousness once more. On weekdays, they offer free upsizing, making it a great choice for guys working nearby. Thank you for the meal.

In Sakamachi Sakashita, there is a bento shop that I often visit. They are usually run by the owner and his father on Saturdays. They have daily specials on weekdays, but unfortunately not on Saturdays. I always have a hard time choosing between the fried chicken, tonkatsu, and ginger pork on Saturdays, but my recommendation is the fried chicken bento. It's delicious! If I could make a request to the shop, I would love it if they were open on Sundays too. ** Revisited in January 2016 for some fried chicken. The fried chicken here is really well-seasoned and delicious. Whenever I crave fried chicken, I go to Sano-ya! Once again, it was a tasty meal. Thank you.

This is a bento shop located about 10 minutes from JR Yotsuya Station in the direction of the Ministry of Defense. The surrounding area is an office district with traditional homes scattered around. During my time working in Tokyo, I often visited this shop to enjoy the familiar taste. Lunch options in the area tended to be over 700 yen, which was a bit tough for a new graduate like me, so this affordable shop was a lifesaver. The taste of their dishes has left a lasting impression on my palate. The shop has a homey atmosphere, run by a family. I ordered their popular service lunch A (500 yen), which changes daily and sells out quickly. The meal included high-quality rice, minced cutlet, fried chicken, scrambled eggs, and Neapolitan pasta, along with pickles on the side. The main dishes here are fried foods, which are not greasy and heavy, making it enjoyable to eat. The rice was well-seasoned and warm, with a balanced flavor. I devoured the meal quickly as I was hungry. This shop was like an oasis for nearby companies and definitely supported my appetite during my time in Tokyo. They offer a variety of meat dishes like fried chicken and ginger pork, as well as options with fish and vegetables. I hope these local, humble shops continue to thrive, and I look forward to visiting again when I'm in Tokyo.

Located about a 10-minute walk from Yotsuya Station, I visited this shop that I had passed by many times and was curious about. They sell bento boxes during the day and offer standing drinking at night. I ordered the Chicken Nanban for 700 yen from the daily menu. The bento consisted of Chicken Nanban, rice, croquette, and spaghetti. It was more filling than I expected, and I felt quite satisfied after finishing it. A casual place to visit, and I would like to go back again if I have the chance.
