On July 30th, the Day of the Ox in the summer, I decided to purchase some eel from Kakuei Fish Market near Akabane Station. This fish market is located inside a supermarket, with a fresh fish section dedicated to Kakuei Fish Market. They had a variety of eel dishes, including 3 types of domestic grilled eel, 1 type of domestic broiled eel, and 2 types of Chinese grilled eel. I bought the domestic extra-large grilled eel for 2759 yen including tax, the domestic broiled eel for 2296 yen including tax, and the Chinese extra-large grilled eel for 1370 yen including tax. For dinner, I used a frying pan to first crisp the skin with olive oil, then steamed it with sake. I compared the domestic eel and the Chinese eel. Twenty years ago, Chinese eel had tough skin and overly soft flesh, but now it's much better. The Chinese eel had a better texture and more fat compared to the domestic eel. I still prefer the domestic eel for its balanced fat content and slightly softer texture, but the difference is becoming smaller. The fact that the Chinese eel is half the price of the domestic eel is also appealing. Both the domestic and Chinese eel were delicious. JR NO2 tried the broiled eel. Thanks for the meal!

Before moving to Saitama City, I used to frequent the Omiya branch of "Kakuei Fish Market." Later, I discovered that they actually have multiple branches. This time, while in Tokyo for some errands, I visited the Akabane branch for the first time. It seems to be positioned as the fresh seafood department of "Fuji Garden" supermarket, with a relatively small sales floor. They don't offer fish dishes or grilled sea bream, leaving that role to the neighboring fish dish specialty store. However, they do have a solid selection of fresh seafood for face-to-face sales, including rock oysters, live oysters, sea squirts, as well as impressive Japanese flounder, sea bream, and cutlassfish, among others. They even had new Pacific saury for only 300 yen each. Surprisingly cheap, isn't it? In recent years, due to rising sea temperatures and overfishing in other countries, Pacific saury has become a luxury fish. In the past, as summer came to an end, you could buy it for less than 150 yen, and during its peak season, you could get it for 88 yen. It seems like a lie. My sense of pricing has also become numb. I chose medium fatty tuna slices (800 yen) and fluke fin (360 yen). I planned to enjoy them with some cold sake. The medium fatty tuna was clearly a mix of lean and medium fatty tuna. It's a bit confusing... They should have just labeled it as "tuna slices." It's definitely more cost-effective to buy whole tuna and slice it yourself, but I couldn't find suitable sizes or prices. I sliced the fluke fin myself, making thin slices by cutting at a sharp angle with a knife. I should have bought some seaweed salad to go with it... White sashimi on a white plate. It's a bit bland. I should at least buy some more interesting plates. Maybe I should add some pickled ginger on the side to make it look better. I dipped it in wasabi soy sauce, enjoyed it with some Kikumasamune barrel sake, and later switched to Takashimizu, along with some other simple ingredients I bought separately, making for a fulfilling evening drinking time. The Akabane branch is slightly less lively and lacks a sense of events compared to other branches like the Omiya branch or the Saitama Chuo branch, giving off a subdued impression. However, the freshness and quality of the fish are top-notch, as expected from "Kakuei." This place really does offer consistent goodness. It's a shop you can recommend to everyone with confidence. I may not be able to visit frequently, but I'll come back again next time. Maybe to the Saitama Chuo branch in my local area. Thank you for the meal.

"Kakujogyorui" is a fish store with its main store in Tsubame, Niigata. They also have branches in the Kanto region, with 4 stores in Tokyo, and I often visit the Akabane store. Located just a 1-minute walk from the north exit of Akabane Station, inside "Fuji Garden Beans". What's amazing about "Kakujogyorui" is their wide selection of fish products, including sashimi, fillets, and sushi that you won't find in regular supermarkets. The best part is their face-to-face sales, where a variety of fish and shellfish from all over Japan are displayed daily. They also offer processing services, so you can simply tell the staff what you want and get a numbered ticket. The staff are knowledgeable about fish, so they can provide you with information and recommendations. I bought "Hokkaido shell-on oysters" for 250 yen each, which are easy to enjoy fresh at home. I also purchased "nodoguro" for 1,700 yen, a high-quality white-fleshed fish. They even seared the skin for me, leaving the flesh tender and flavorful. I also got 100g of "fresh bluefin tuna red meat" for 750 yen, which had a silky texture and melted in my mouth. The face-to-face sales with seasonal fish and their homemade dishes like namero are also excellent. If you love fish, you will definitely be satisfied at this fish store.

*Waiting time* Few minutes on Sunday at 14:00 *Order & Price* Half-sized seafood Ehomaki for 600 yen *Atmosphere* Omitted *Service* Omitted *Impression* I look forward to the seafood Ehomaki from Kakuei Gyogyu every year. The luxurious look of the overflowing ingredients is irresistible. Actually, when I visited the day before, there was separate ikura placed, but I couldn't find it today. A little disappointing for an ikura lover. But the taste is still the best. With ingredients like tuna tataki and salmon that make the taste smooth, it was very delicious. I'm happy that there is a high ratio of seafood and less rice. *Expectations* Looking forward to next year as well.

The company managing Kakujo is Kakujo Fish Holdings Co., Ltd., based in Teradomari, Niigata Prefecture. The company was established in 1974 with a fresh fish retail store in Teradomari Town. Over the years, they have expanded to open stores in Kawaguchi City, Tokyo, and Saitama City. The reviewer first learned about Kakujo from relatives and has been a regular customer ever since. They praise the fresh and affordable fish sold at the store, as well as the variety of sushi available for takeout. The reviewer's favorite is the Tekka Maki, but they also enjoy the other sushi options. Today, they purchased the Chutoro Maki and Kanpyo Maki, which they found delicious. Although they briefly considered making soy sauce-marinated salmon roe at home, they ultimately decided against it. As they left the store, they noticed a truck arriving from Teradomari, likely carrying fish for the evening sales. The store is always crowded with fish lovers, creating a lively atmosphere.

*Waiting time* Around 3 pm on Sunday, it was very crowded due to Setsubun. I waited in line at the register for about 10 minutes, it was very busy. *Order & Price* Half-size Seafood Ehomaki for 648 yen. *Atmosphere of the shop* Located at the far end of Fuji Garden. *Service* Friendly service. They also offer a service where they prepare the food right there. *Impressions* I was impressed by how delicious it was the first time I tried it, and have been buying it every year since. The Seafood Ehomaki is filled with a variety of seafood, allowing you to enjoy different types all at once. It includes salmon, tuna, egg, salmon roe, eel, cucumber, shrimp, and more. It was consistently delicious this year as well. *Things I wish for* I was disappointed that there was not much salmon roe. I thought it would be even more enjoyable if there were also fish roe included. I would have been happier if there were wasabi and pickled ginger provided. I will buy it again next year.

I bought sushi rolls, medium fatty tuna rolls, fatty tuna rolls, mini sea urchin bowl, and tuna sashimi at Akabane Garden. They were delicious with rich flavors. I occasionally buy from there.

After finishing my business in Akabane, I came here to find ingredients for dinner. I had a sashimi platter with five kinds of fish, tekka maki, and anago maki. The freshness and cost performance were both good, and I enjoyed it very much.

Spicy cod roe, Negitoro roll, Tuna sashimi, Frozen salmon. Always crowded, but worth it for the taste of Togoshi when in Akabane.

I received a gift from Akabane Kumumu with sea treasure pickles, medium fatty tuna, and bluefin tuna red meat. They were delicious and reasonably priced. I might buy them myself if I have the chance to visit.

Niigata Teradomari is a chain store specializing in fresh fish with its main store. The buyers have a keen eye for selecting fresh fish at affordable prices, making it a grateful store for retail. They also serve delicious and affordable sushi.

I bought a sashimi assortment at a nearby supermarket and was disappointed by how terrible it tasted. However, the department store is too expensive. I once tried buying fish in Ueno, but the cod milt was awful. They had plenty of tuna, but not much else, and they didn't have the fish I liked unless I asked them to fillet it for me. But I felt hesitant to ask them to do it. Then, I searched for "delicious sashimi" online and came across a blog recommending "Kakuei Gyogyu" near Akabane Station. I decided to give it a try. Customers choose the fish at the storefront and have it filleted on the spot. The staff is very friendly and easy to ask for help. I had them fillet horse mackerel, horse mackerel, and thread-sail filefish, and also bought pre-packed sea bream saku and cod milt. I sliced them for sashimi at home, and my son said, "The sea bream slices push my hand back." The cod milt didn't smell at all and was delicious! Everything was delicious and I was very satisfied. The following week, I went back to the store and found anglerfish. I had the 800 yen one filleted and made a hot pot, and it was so delicious. Before, I bought frozen anglerfish, thawed it, and made a hot pot, but it was awful. The freshness of the fish is important. It seems that filleting in advance leads to deterioration, so filleting it just before cooking is essential. If you want to eat delicious sashimi, having it filleted at the storefront is the best option.

I went alone in the afternoon on a regular day. "Half Sababattera Sushi" consists of thick mackerel topped with white kelp. The mackerel is moist and full of flavor. The sushi rice is slightly soft, which I like. The ginger, sesame, and shiso mixed into the rice completely eliminate the fishy smell typical of blue fish. "Homemade Firefly Squid Soy Sauce Pickles" feature tender and chewy firefly squid with a rich liver flavor that comes through when chewed. Perfect as a snack with sake or as a side dish with rice. After enjoying some fun in Akabane, it's time to head home. I'll treat myself to some seafood from Kakuei Fish Market and buy some sake to enjoy at home later.

I often use Kakuen Fish for my meals. The sashimi is fresh and the sushi is delicious. Today, I decided to make hand-rolled sushi at home, so I bought a sushi assortment (1300 yen), enagawa (265 yen), and negitoro (625 yen) from them. I also prepared sushi rice at home. We toasted with beer and enjoyed making hand-rolled sushi. The sushi assortment included tuna, yellowtail, salmon, shrimp, squid, and amberjack, all for 1300 yen, which was a great deal. The sushi was fresh and the tuna and salmon were particularly moist and delicious. We also made miso soup with the clams we bought.

I visited this shop near JR Akabane Station while out for errands and decided to stop by for dinner shopping. This shop is a fish market based in Teradomari, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, so I had some expectations. The whole fish sold here were decent, but nothing particularly special compared to other fish markets. However, the sashimi offcuts looked very delicious, so I decided to purchase them. The sashimi offcuts were reasonably priced and looked very tasty. I visited around 5 pm, so the shop was crowded with shoppers.

[Revisit on March 20, 2012] On this day, after watching a soccer game in Omiya, I found myself stopping by once again at Kakuei Gyogyu in Akabane! Since the bluefin tuna sashimi I bought last time was delicious, I revisited in search of bluefin tuna sashimi again, but it was a bit late, around 7:30 pm. It was a holiday, so there weren't many sashimi options left. Nonetheless, I managed to purchase "Cut-off bluefin tuna from Turkey" for 880 yen in the bluefin tuna sashimi zone! I was also interested in the Spanish bluefin tuna being sold, but let's save that for next time! I also bought 2 pieces of red fish marinated in miso for 480 yen since the salmon marinated in miso I bought from Oto Suisan was delicious last time! Turns out, they were selling 3 pieces of salmon marinated in miso for 400 yen, even cheaper (laughs). The female staff recommended it to me again (laughs). When I got home, I had the cut-off bluefin tuna, and it was delicious with its fatty medium fatty tuna! It tastes even better when paired with sake! Since I enjoyed the delicious sashimi, there is a high chance I will repeat visiting! I will keep the high rating of ☆☆☆☆! [First visit on March 7, 2012] I purchased fresh bluefin tuna cut-off, raw oysters for cooking, and salmon marinated in miso at Kakuei Gyogyu Akabane store at Fujigarden's fresh food section! After eating and drinking at "Ekiya Akabane" in Akabane station, I went straight to Kakuei Gyogyu Akabane store, which has been a hot topic for being able to purchase fresh seafood! The store is in a small-scale compared to the direct-operated stores often featured on TV, but it seems to have established its own identity. They have a variety of fresh seafood, and you can have them prepare it on the spot, but on this day, I bought the bluefin tuna cut-off, raw oysters for cooking, and salmon marinated in miso at Oto Suisan near the register! The bluefin tuna purchased at Kakuei Gyogyu was reasonably fresh and delicious, and the prices seem reasonable. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. I would give it a high rating of ☆☆☆☆!

My daughter at home is not into the recent trend of carnivorous or herbivorous diets. If I had to describe her, she is a "fish-eating girl." She happily eats all kinds of fish dishes, from sashimi and sushi to grilled fish, simmered fish, dried fish, etc. She is picky about the taste, not just eating anything. If the fish is not good, she will say so, but still eat it. If it's delicious, she will jump with excitement and eat it. This girl who loves fish praises this restaurant without reservation. Whatever it is related to seafood, this place has it all. From fresh fish to fillets, sashimi, sushi, frozen items... everything is available. If you ask, they will even prepare it the way you want on the spot. Not only my daughter but I also love fish. Especially sashimi, which is my favorite. When I have sashimi at home while drinking, it feels like heaven. So, I often buy sashimi from this restaurant. When I do, I have to take my daughter with me, or it will be a disaster. "You didn't take me with you!" "You didn't let me choose!" "There's no fish I want to eat!" "That's why we end up buying this kind of sashimi!" If I ask her why she doesn't eat it, she will eat almost all of it by herself. That's how delicious, lively, well-stocked, and affordable this place is. There is no other place where you can find sashimi that makes a fish-eating girl jump with joy. You can't buy fresh fish anywhere else anymore... that's not an exaggeration. ========== Additional Note ========== Previously, my wife wanted to make codfish chili, so we bought cod fillets from this place. When we tried to cook it at home, the cod meat seemed a bit hollow, and we were wondering what was going on. So, we called the store, and the store's staff member brought a replacement cod on a bicycle. It turns out that during the spawning season, female codfish lose their strength and their meat becomes hollow, which the staff member explained while apologizing profusely. The staff member was so upset that he started crying, feeling bad for causing any misunderstanding with the product, not providing sufficient explanation, and making mistakes despite working diligently. My wife didn't want to complain but simply wanted to confirm her doubts, yet things turned out this way, making her feel like she had done something wrong, so she gave the staff member a can of beer we had at home. Upon realizing this, the staff member, despite causing trouble, was happy to receive such a gesture, and while crying again, he rode his bicycle back home. The distance between the store and our house is just over 1 km, but there is a steep hill on the way that even with an electric-assist bicycle, it is difficult to climb. The staff member worked hard to ride the bicycle and return. He seems like a very sincere person. Don't you think that fish sold by such people can be eaten with peace of mind?
