Today, I went to Kinshicho, a halfway point, to meet up with a senior colleague who lives in Ichihara. We decided to have ramen before catching up, so we visited Kanramen Muro-san. Even though we arrived early, there were already 4-5 people inside. I was worried it might be crowded as SUSURU had recommended it before, but we were lucky. We bought our meal tickets from the machine on the right as soon as we entered. I opted for the Special Ramen for 1,000 yen as it seemed like a good deal. There was water available near the machine, so I poured some into a cup and carried it to our seats. I chose to have my ramen with less oil, and I skipped the rice, which was complimentary. The food was served promptly, within about 5 minutes. The presentation was great. The Special Ramen (regular) came with 5 pieces of seaweed, 3 slices of chashu, a seasoned egg, and extra spinach. The noodles were chewy and had a nice texture, cooked just right. The soup was rich but not overpowering, with a refined taste. Even with less oil, it was still delicious, but normal oil level might be even better. The toppings were of high quality, with flavorful seaweed that could be wrapped around rice to enjoy, a soy sauce-marinated egg with a stronger taste than expected, well-cooked and flavorful spinach, and chashu that was juicy and had a great contrast of fat. I wish the chashu was a bit thicker, though. I finished it all quickly. The overall portion was average, so many people might opt for the rice. It has a real "home style" feel, so I think it's a safe choice for both beginners and ramen enthusiasts, with great value for money.
