Opened on March 31st, "Tam Jai Sam Gor Shinjuku Chuo-dori Store" is the first branch in Japan of the Hong Kong Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant "Mi Xian". Located just a few minutes' walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit, behind the "Bic Camera" in a back alley opposite "Tempura Tsuna Hachi". There is always a long line, with security guards specifically assigned to manage the queue. The interior is decorated with neon signs, creating a unique foreign atmosphere. The 80s-90s New Wave BGM featuring The Smiths, Specials, and Happy Mondays adds to the vibe. The main menu item is the "Mi Xian" soup noodles, where you can choose from 6 different types of soup such as Mala, Tomato, Clear, Suan La, Wu La, and Sam Gor Suan La, and select the level of spiciness. There are also various toppings available, with at least one topping required per order. Side dishes, drinks, and more are also offered. I ordered the "Sam Gor Suan La" for 670 yen with an additional 90 yen for cabbage. I chose the "5 Xiao La Mild" level of spiciness for the tangy and spicy Sam Gor Suan La soup. The soup was flavorful with a good balance of spiciness and acidity, and the generous portion of cabbage added a nice touch. The rice noodles were chewy and had a good texture, and the dish had a hint of herbal flavor. The "5 Xiao La Mild" level of spiciness was just right for me, as anything spicier would have been too much. The "Tofay Chicken 3 pieces" for 380 yen was also delicious, with tender and juicy chicken wings seasoned with original spices. It served as a nice palate cleanser. The "Hong Kong Lemon Tea ICE" for 280 yen was a popular drink in Hong Kong, with plenty of lemon slices adding a refreshing touch. It was a simple lemon tea, not too sweet, which complemented the spicy soup. The service was polite, possibly due to the same management as Marugame Seimen, with upcoming openings in Kichijoji (April 14th) and Ebisu (May 12th).
