Located in Ginza Rokuchome, on the B2 floor of Ginza SIX, is a shop called "Nori Bento". The concept is "cold but warm". They make and sell "Nori Bento" in a kitchen attached to the store, where the bento remains delicious even when cold. When Ginza SIX first opened, it was so popular that they had to give out numbered tickets, but now you can purchase on the spot, or even pre-order 10 or more. The store opened in April 2017 and was launched by the company Smiles, known for Soup Stock, 100 Spoons, and Nood e. Since April 2021, "Nori Bento Yamadori Co., Ltd.", jointly funded by Smiles and JR East Japan Retail Net, has been operating the store. This was the starting point for expanding their stores. You can also purchase their bento boxes at Tsukiji Direct Market, Echika Tokyo Store, Shinbashi Station Store, Echika Ueno Store, and Echika Shinagawa Store. The store is directly connected to Ginza Station (Ginza Mitsukoshi) via the underground passage. I visited in the afternoon. There was a constant stream of customers, but even if there was a line, it only took about 5 minutes. The variety of bento boxes available include: "Nori Bento" with salmon, "Nori Bento" with teriyaki chicken, "Nori Bento" with lotus root and shiso rice cake, "Kanazawa mackerel salt-grilled Nori Bento", and "Nori Bento" with a variety of seafood. I purchased the following items: - "Nori Bento" with salmon (1,080 yen) - "Nori Bento" with Kanazawa mackerel salt-grilled (1,296 yen) The "Nori Bento" with salmon features a salt-grilled salmon placed in the center of nori rice, surrounded by various side dishes. The combination of nori, bonito flakes, and rice meld together in your mouth, and it truly remains delicious even when cold. The side dishes included fish cake tempura, rolled omelette, taro and cod roe salad, spinach namul, and pickled radish. Each side dish complemented the main dish well, and I finished it all without getting tired of the flavors. The presentation of the salmon bento seemed familiar, as if I had seen it somewhere before. It might be the correct way to present a "salmon bento". The shelf life is until 11:00 PM on the same day. The "Nori Bento" with Kanazawa mackerel salt-grilled, on the other hand, replaces the salmon with salt-grilled mackerel. Its shelf life is until 8:00 PM on the same day. These bento boxes are often referred to as "luxurious Nori Bento", and considering the quality and quantity of the main dish and the variety of side dishes, the pricing seems appropriate. If these bento boxes were offered as catering, it would definitely be a pleasant surprise.
