After finishing my senior's health checkup, we gathered for an early drinking party. We started with some appetizers, such as sashimi, salted fish roe, and bone crackers. The flavors of the appetizers were so intense that we couldn't help but drink a lot of sake. Standing and eating was a bit rushed, so we decided to make multiple trips to try different appetizers.

This was my first time visiting for lunch! I had been a few times in the evening thanks to a recommendation from a friend, so I already knew about the delicious Sado sake and sushi... but I had no idea how affordable the lunch menu was! I had the eel bowl at Una Mas, and it was so good! I still want to try the sashimi too! So, I arrived just 10 minutes before the end of lunchtime, and the young manager was just finishing his meal. I hesitated a bit before deciding on the seafood rice bowl! While he skillfully prepared the fish, a salad, small side dishes, and miso soup were brought to me. The bowl arrived quickly and I started eating. Even though it was standing-room only, the preparation was still top-notch, and the sashimi was delicious! I was impressed once again today. I will definitely be back. Thank you for the meal.

First visit. I heard there is a sushi restaurant in Niigata, so I came here. It's a standing sushi bar, but they also have a variety of appetizers. There are many different types of cup sake in the refrigerator that you can help yourself to. It was fun to see so many new ones for the first time. I tried Manotsuru, Yukikoubai, and Kage Tora, and they were all delicious and went well with the food. Be careful not to drink too much! The food was also delicious, whether it was sushi or appetizers. I would like to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

I was so happy to find Benkei from Sado available in Tokyo! They have a wide selection of Japanese sake, including some that are not typically found in Tokyo. The sushi may be slightly different from what you would find in Niigata, but everything was delicious. The restaurant is conveniently located near the station with easy access.

It's a little after 11 on Saturday. I finally made it to the restaurant I wanted to go to. The standing sushi bar felt a bit rushed with ordering, so I ended up ordering whatever caught my eye and later regretted it. First, I ordered a beer. I took my time to think about my order and ended up ordering the following: yellowtail 220 yen, horse mackerel 165 yen, medium fatty tuna 440 yen, shrimp 220 yen, seaweed and pickled seaweed 165 yen. I also added an additional order of bluefin tuna 440 yen and gurnard 220 yen. The prices are a bit high for one piece, but the quality of the fish is fresh and delicious. This place is known for their single cups of local sake, and I saw other customers helping themselves to the fridge. Since it was still morning and I wasn't quite at the stage of drinking sake, I stuck with beer. Thank you for the meal.

I decided to have lunch around Kanda Station and stumbled upon a place where they make sushi right in front of you at the counter. It's a standing-style restaurant with a decent number of seats. I ordered the C set (1500 yen) which came with over ten pieces of sushi, salad, hot spring egg, and miso soup. The portion was generous and the pricing was reasonable.

I was overwhelmed by the experience. The sushi, sashimi, and tempura were all beyond my expectations. The atmosphere was great, and I could feel the attention to detail in the lighting and decor. The sake was a steal at 550 yen, with a self-service style from the showcase. The green tea highball at the sushi restaurant was really delicious, and I ended up drinking too much. Personally, I recommend the 5-piece nigiri set of the day. It included chu-toro and king crab, and the quality was definitely worth more than 900 yen. I will definitely go back again.

Arrived at the restaurant on Saturday at 2:00 PM and was seated at the counter in front of two groups of customers. Since it was my first stop, I ordered a draft beer to quench my thirst. The glass provided was small, almost cute, and I quickly finished it. I helped myself to a cup of sake from the refrigerator behind me, pouring a glass of Yuki Koubai from Hasegawa Sake Brewery in Nagaoka. Ah, this is it! Niigata sake!!! My body is definitely made of Niigata sake. Let's open bottles of Kanekura from Sado, Tsururei, and Murasuke. Until around 3:00 PM, only sushi was served, with only sashimi as an appetizer option. I asked if they could make crab miso, but received a cold response. The Omakase Benkei Mori for 770 yen, Sado nigiri set for 2420 yen, and tamagoyaki for 110 yen were delicious. Looking at old photos, I remembered that uni used to be included in the nigiri. However, in this tough economic climate, I am grateful for such delicious sushi at an affordable price. I counted the empty cup sake and paid with PayPay for a straightforward bill.

Today, I had standing sushi at "Sushi Bar Benkei" after making a reservation on "Gurunavi". I was happy to be able to reserve for lunch as well! It was not crowded right after opening. I chose the "B Lunch" for 1,200 yen (tax included). It includes 10 pieces of nigiri sushi, rolls, and tamago. It also comes with a small dish, salad, and soup. When comparing it to the "A Lunch", I think this one offers the best value in terms of volume and price. The nigiri sushi has thick toppings and is made with red vinegar rice, and they are quite large. I visited "Kaiten Sushi Benkei" two years ago, and I believe "Sushi Bar Benkei" maintains the same level of quality as the Niigata branch. In fact, I heard that there are chefs who came from Niigata. Considering the price, I am very satisfied. I believe this restaurant will receive a rating of over 3.5 stars by the end of the year. Additionally, the location near the station and the standing style make it a convenient place to stop by without lingering for too long (probably... haha).

Today's lunch was also at C Lunch. The sushi boat in the photo at the restaurant was originally sea urchin, but today it was medium-fatty tuna. It was a bit disappointing, but since it's listed as a daily special, I accepted it. (The sea urchin before wasn't very good quality, so I'm actually glad they switched it to my favorite medium-fatty tuna.) First, a salad was served, followed by one dish. The salad had a strong dressing flavor and was quite generous in portion. The one dish today was tempura of baby squid, which was sweet and had a crispy texture, very delicious. The sushi rice had a sharp acidity from red vinegar. The marinated flounder with kelp was visibly well-marinated, with a strong concentration of kelp umami. (I think this may depend on the timing of the visit in terms of how many days the flounder has been marinated.) This restaurant offers fresh sweet shrimp from Sado Island, which is a rare find in Tokyo. They also serve a la carte dishes and sushi at night, so I definitely want to try it for dinner as well.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. They have a wide variety of One Cup sake from Sado Island, and you can choose and bring it yourself from the refrigerator. The sushi, skillfully crafted by the chef, is also exquisite. This time was our third stop, so we didn't eat too much, but I want to order more next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Standing sushi bar izakaya. The abundant selection of Japanese sake one cups for 550 yen is impressive. Benkei Mori (sashimi) for 600 yen, oyster tempura for 500 yen, crab miso for 380 yen, and other low-priced appetizers along with two one cups of draft beer. Finish off with a set of 10 pieces of nigiri for 2,420 yen and add anago for 385 yen. In just over an hour, you can enjoy a slight buzz for less than 6,000 yen. The nigiri pieces are small, but the set includes premium toppings like toro, kue, and ikura for only 220 yen each, which is excellent. Many people also buy one cups as souvenirs, so it might be nice to choose while looking at them and enjoy drinking with a small group. Today, I had a light dinner at "Sushi Bar Benkei" in Kanda. It seems that a famous sushi chain from Niigata has opened a standing sushi restaurant in Kanda. First, I had sashimi. I ordered the Benkei platter, which was only 600 yen. The tuna was really good. For nigiri sushi, you can choose one piece at a time. I had horse mackerel, squid, cuttlefish, and thread-sail filefish liver on top. They were delicious. Speaking of Niigata, the sweet shrimp was the best. I had a beer and the total came to 2,000 yen. It was a great value for the quality.

About two years ago, I had to move to Niigata for a job transfer. I had visited the area around Bandai Bridge for work a few times before, but actually living there was a whole new experience. During my time in Niigata, I enjoyed delicious sushi at Benkei in Bandai Pier. After returning to Tokyo, I discovered that there is a Benkei restaurant in Kanda as well, and I have been a regular customer ever since. Both in Niigata and Kanda, they serve fresh fish and seasonal specialties from Niigata, along with Niigata sake. I recently tried the whale miso pickles, a local delicacy made from salted whale meat, for the first time. I also enjoyed some fresh oysters. The restaurant is becoming quite popular, as it was already full when I arrived at 6:30 pm. Thank you for another wonderful meal featuring the delicious flavors of Niigata.

I visited a standing sushi and izakaya near Kanda Station. They have a wide variety of one-cup sake options that you can take from the fridge yourself. I had been wanting to visit this place for a while, but couldn't due to work. Finally, I made it! This time, I focused on white fish sushi. The white fish assortment was very light and delicious. The enoki mushroom tempura was huge! And enjoying sushi with a cup of sake was a great experience. They recommended white fish like kawahagi and madai. Also, the bone senbei was a must-try! It was crunchy and had a great texture, making it perfect for enjoying with sake!

Today was hot again, and I didn't have much of an appetite. I wandered around because the restaurant I had in mind was closed, but ended up at a nearby place due to the heat. It's located near Kanda Station West Exit, slightly off the main street, so there were only two other customers and it was pretty empty. There are about 10 seats at the counter, a few small tables, and a standing eating area in the shop. I remember there used to be more casual standing sushi restaurants around Kanda Station about 20 years ago, but now I only know of this one. The highlight of this place is the wall lined with various One Cup Sake mainly from Niigata. The menu ranges from a 1000 yen A lunch set to a 2300 yen top-quality set. I ordered the A lunch set. There were three chefs in the kitchen. First, they served a salad, sesame-dressed green beans, and a red miso soup with mitsuba. The red miso soup tasted a bit light. Then, they served 9 pieces of sushi and tamagoyaki on a sushi plate. In the past, standing sushi restaurants would place the sushi directly on the counter wiped with a cloth, but now they probably avoid that for hygiene reasons. Getting a set of sushi made right in front of you for 1000 yen is a good deal. Normally, this amount wouldn't be enough for me, but since I had a reduced appetite, it was just right. I found out about this restaurant in Kanda after researching about a shop in Niigata, and have been using it regularly since then. The main store is actually in Sado, Niigata, but they have various types of shops in Niigata city, including standing sushi bars, conveyor belt sushi, and slightly upscale sushi restaurants. The sushi is delicious, and I also recommend their mozuku seaweed. It's a place where you can enjoy fresh seafood from the sea of Niigata. The standing sushi bars and conveyor belt sushi in Niigata are both very popular, with lines forming from early in the morning, but the Kanda location is not as well-known, which is great for me as I can go anytime I want. The manager is handsome and provides smart customer service, so I highly recommend it!

On Saturday around 14:40, I entered the restaurant with about 2 other groups of customers. I sat at the counter and noticed that the Yuki Koubai, which was sold out last time, was available this time! I was overjoyed and ordered the Yuki Koubai and the Benkei Mori and one serving of Jyo Nigiri. I always order the same thing. Until 5:00 pm, they only serve sushi, so you can't order individual dishes during that time. The Jyo Nigiri had sea urchin in it, which made me very happy! I finished with miso soup and lined up the cups for sake. Thank you for the meal. I paid with PayPay and I want to go back at night next time.
