I couldn't resist the urge to eat sushi, so around 12:30, I decided to try my luck at SUSHI TOKYO TEN in Shinjuku Newman store, but as expected for a popular place, the line was too long so I gave up. Then I remembered there was a sushi restaurant in Takashimaya, so I headed to Otaru Masazushi. The restaurant was quite spacious with over 10 seats at the counter alone, and there were also several table seats in the back. [Order Course] Otaru Course: 5,478 yen [Menu] - 4 Appetizers: Wakame seaweed salad, Ume (plum) meat salad, Simmered red snapper, Cream cheese tofu - 11 Nigiri sushi + additional 4 pieces: Maitake mushroom, Red snapper, Octopus head, Scallop, Horse mackerel, Salmon, Botan shrimp with miso and egg, Botan shrimp, Medium fatty tuna, Sea urchin, Salmon roe, Engawa of sand flounder (additional), Alfonsino (additional), Black surf clam (additional) - 2 Other dishes: Tamagoyaki (rolled omelette), Soup - Sake: Saku Junmai Enotch, Shura Junmai Ginjo Fire Course The content of the course was neither good nor bad. The octopus head nigiri was interesting with its smooth texture and moderate chewiness, different from regular octopus. The additional order of engawa of sand flounder was thick, fatty, and delicious with a rich umami flavor that spread in the mouth. It was mentioned that it is not often available in the Kanto region and is directly shipped from Hokkaido, making it a valuable sushi option in the Kanto region. It was a shame that there was no information provided about the sake labels. Also, the additional order didn't seem to offer good value for money, as the total bill came to around 12,000 yen, so maybe it would have been better to have lunch at a slightly more upscale restaurant.
