Soon, my meager salary will be paid, so today I ventured into the back alleys for a high-end lunch. There were only two groups of customers before me. Unfortunately, my knees were hurting so I was unable to get a table. The staff said that solo diners were not allowed at tables. This was my first and final visit. The lunch was pork shabu-shabu for 1,500 yen. As I read about the owner's dedication, the meat arrived shortly after. I apologize for not taking a photo of the meat as I was too focused on etiquette. The meat, cooked on a low heat, was tender and flavorful. Towards the end, the owner apologized for not being able to seat me at a table. It was just the restaurant's policy, so it was not a problem. I won't be dining alone again.

I wanted to have a hearty lunch on this day. I walked towards a certain restaurant, but it was closed. Then, I remembered another restaurant nearby and decided to go in. I ordered the lunch set with pork shabu-shabu (regular size) for 1380 yen. It came with a plate of plenty of leeks and greens topped with pork, along with freshly cooked rice, miso soup, and pickles. The staff recommended eating the meat slowly, not cooking it too much, leaving it slightly pink. When I tried the meat with leeks, I was pleasantly surprised by how tender it was! Although I wish the lunch set was a bit more affordable, the delicious taste left me completely satisfied. It's a great place to go when you want to have a tasty lunch.

From information obtained from a blog I have been referring to before, it seems that lightly cooked pork shabu-shabu is exquisite. I arrived at 12:40 with no other customers. At the entrance, there was hand sanitizer, temperature checks were done, and the indoor ventilation was not fully open. There were partitions on the tables, and the seating was spaced out compared to normal operation. The lunch menu usually has 3 options: regular pork shabu-shabu, large serving, or fillet cutlet. I chose the large serving of pork shabu-shabu for 1600 yen. The food was served in 5 minutes. I cooked it carefully following the instructions. It was tender, and I could taste the deliciousness of the pork. The rice was also served in a soft texture. I almost finished the entire serving, haha. I was satisfied and full. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Near Asakusabashi Station, there is a shop in a residential area. When it gets dark, there are hardly any people walking around, which was a bit surprising. I heard that the owner is very particular, so I was excited to enter. Indeed, you can feel the owner's attention to detail everywhere, which is nice. The shabu-shabu and Satsuma-age were incredibly delicious, and they had a wide variety of shochu. Even the signs in the restroom were creative. Overall, it was great. I wondered why this place isn't more popular, but maybe the owner doesn't want that. They probably want only people who genuinely like this place to come. That feeling was clearly conveyed. I was impressed that the shabu-shabu course included the tonkatsu in the photo. It was a pork paradise. I remember being very satisfied with the volume of the course. I think shochu was the main drink. I went with a friend who strongly recommended it, and it was a great restaurant. ^ ^

Pork shabu-shabu set meal. Extra pork. Pork is delicious. Rice is the fluffy type. Wash it down with beer and enjoy plenty of green onions with the pork. Rice is served in a traditional wooden rice container. Ate more than expected. Thanks to the pork. Miso soup is delicious.

I used it for a farewell party for my colleagues. I had been there for lunch before and knew how delicious the pork shabu-shabu was, but the dinner course was also amazing. The freshly fried satsuma-age, tender hire-katsu, and chicken meatballs for the hot pot all had a great texture and went well with alcohol. To be honest, I was worried if there would be enough food when making the reservation, but there was no problem at all. Four middle-aged men left with full stomachs. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Visited in November 2018. I had been curious about this famous pork shabu-shabu restaurant. My senior treated me to a meal! We enjoyed delicious pork shabu-shabu, sweet potato tempura, and finished with soba noodles. I also got a little tipsy with some shochu.

The individual pork shabu-shabu is really delicious. Be careful not to leave the meat in for too long and chat, as the owner may remind you how to eat it properly. This is not because they are picky, but because they want you to enjoy the delicious food. It's best to ask for instructions on how to eat it before starting.

The 1,300 yen price might seem a bit high for lunch, but the pork shabu-shabu here is really delicious. Even in hot weather, it was enjoyable to eat. Definitely worth a try! Thank you for the meal. 🙏

I felt like eating pork shabu-shabu after a long time, so I went to Katsuyoshi-san, who is particular about sweet potatoes shochu and pork. Even though it had been a while, the taciturn master remembered me, which made me happy. I started with Kagoshima black pork sashimi, Kumamoto horse sashimi, and Miyazaki chicken sashimi, all of which were rare meats and incredibly delicious! I wanted to eat more, but next came a variety of Satsuma tempura, which was also delicious without soy sauce. The main dish was the carefully prepared pork shabu-shabu. It was lightly swished in a pot placed on top of charcoal to prevent boiling, then dipped in with green onions while still pink, releasing the irresistible flavor of the pork in my mouth! Of course, I ordered more pork shabu-shabu and ate heartily. It's a restaurant I want to take my local friends to. Thank you for the meal.

I have a rule of getting delicious food at milestone reviews, so I decided to visit "Kokken" this time. It's a pork shabu-shabu restaurant located between Asakusabashi and Akihabara. There are 6 tables and 2 tatami rooms. I ordered the pork shabu-shabu set in large size (1,500 yen), which is 200 yen more than the regular size. Shortly after, a personal pot was set on the burner. Pickles and pork slices were served next. The owner kindly advised not to let the pot boil. A bowl of rice also arrived. I added leeks and watercress to the pot, followed by a thick slice of pork. After a quick swish-swish, I dipped the pink pork into the sauce and took a bite. It was delicious! The pork had a silky texture with sweetness and umami. I felt happy with every bite. The set included 10 slices of pork, and considering the quality, 1,500 yen was quite cheap. Asakusabashi is known for its pork dishes. If you want a hearty meal, go to "Maruyama Kichihei." For a healthy option, try "Kokken." For a stylish experience, visit "Gracia." And for a wild meal, head to "Nishiguchi Yakiton." These are what I call the "Asakusabashi Pork Cuisine Big Four." Among them, Kokken may have a lower rating on Tabelog, but I highly recommend it without any complaints.

The restaurant has raised its prices slightly, possibly due to the consumption tax increase. They now only offer lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I ordered the pork shabu-shabu set for 1.5 people, which was quite a large portion. The meat was of good quality and had a nice weight to it, made from domestic brand pork. It was still delicious as always. There were more customers compared to my last visit, but it's not yet crowded enough to form a line, so it's still a hidden gem. In this area, it's the best pork shabu-shabu restaurant. I think it's worth the 1,300 yen.
