【March 11, 2023】Survey report. Today, I visited my favorite Oshioen after a long time. I called ahead and luckily they had an opening. Here are my orders and reviews below:
◆ Liver Butsu 1300 yen 4.2 points
A specialty dish of the restaurant. The edges are firm, indicating it's very fresh. No unpleasant smell, very delicious.
◆ Upper Tongue Salt 2200 yen 4.2 points
Thick and huge slices of tongue with a powerful visual. Rich flavor and worth the price.
◆ Kalbi 1300 yen 4.2 points
Kalbi with good marbling. The volume and quality at this price is truly miraculous.
◆ Upper Fillet 2000 yen 4.5 points
Rectangular slices of upper fillet with a lot of marbling. Melts in your mouth when eaten. Goes perfectly with beaten eggs.

Three large slices of misuji with an impressive form. Thinly sliced, easy to swallow without much chewing.

Located at 863-3 Komiyacho, Hachioji City. Daikoen is a traditional Japanese yakiniku restaurant where you can enjoy thick-cut beef tongue and offal. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is simple but very comfortable. In the TV show "The Lonely Gourmet," Goro visited here. A highly recommended dish is the beef intestine soup, which can warm your stomach.

Memo: I visited Daikoen as I was on a business trip to the Hachioji area and had been curious about it. They don't accept reservations for just one person, so I went directly and they were able to accommodate me during a gap in reservations. They said one hour would be fine. The beef tongue salt and grilled liver were especially delicious. I was surprised by how tasty the food was for the price. I want to go with a group next time and try more dishes.

Tonight, I went to a yakiniku restaurant with my seniors that was featured in "The Lonely Gourmet." At one point, it was so popular that it was hard to get a reservation. I made a reservation for 6 o'clock and took the Hachiko Line to Komiyama. I arrived earlier than expected, so I did some warm-up exercises and had a highball. The prices were not as high as I had imagined. We had kalbi, loin, harami, tongue, fillet, and hormone mix. We also tried the recommended liver and intestine grill, as well as grilled yukhoe. The meat was tender and delicious, and I understand why this place is so popular. For dessert, we had comtankuppa. The staff were efficient and it was a pleasant experience. This place is now my favorite. My local seniors rode their bikes home.

It had been a while since I visited Daiko-en Komiyamoto main store. I made a reservation for 17:30 on a weekday and was the first to arrive. Today, they had special top-grade sirloin available, but due to my age, I can't eat too much fatty meat anymore. I asked the staff about the fattiness of the middle sirloin, and they assured me it wasn't too fatty. So, I promptly ordered two servings. I also ordered top tongue salt and top harami. The middle sirloin today was exactly what I was looking for, exceptionally delicious. After confirming this, I added another serving. It was amazing. Thank you for the meal. Located just 2 stations away from Hachioji Station on the JR Hachiko Line, this restaurant caught my eye with its beautiful presentation of beef tongue. I finally visited after making a phone reservation a week in advance, as they do not accept walk-ins on the day of. The quality and quantity of the meat were top-notch, especially the beef tongue and the large-cut harami and marbled sirloin. The aburi yukke is also a must-try. I came to Yakiniku Hyakumeiten in Komae, Hachioji City. Today's Hyakumeiten Girl is Aichan, who is member number 3. Aichan, full of energy, allowed me to take lots of photos. The restaurant is located in the middle of a residential area, which was surprising. Their specialty is liver. This time, I ordered Senmai Namul, Liver, Chorogi Salad, Pig's Feet, Thick Tongue, Yukke, Upper Fillet, and Upper Kalbi. By the way, the photos were not forced.

I visited the restaurant by driving through the weekday traffic jam. The thick-cut liver I wanted to eat was fresh and delicious as it looked. I was satisfied with the tongue as well! I wanted to eat the thick-cut one, but unfortunately it wasn't available. The seared yukhoe and premium kalbi were also very delicious. Finally, we visited this renowned restaurant in Hachioji to treat our parents, the alpacas. We made a reservation the day before, and it was necessary as they were turning away walk-ins. Unfortunately, the premium tongue was sold out, so we opted for the premium fillet instead. It went really well with the Western wasabi, melting in your mouth and incredibly tender. In addition to what's shown in the photo, we also ordered top skirt, hormone, intestines sashimi, kimchi assortment, namul, flavored green onions, and raw eggs. The flavored green onions and raw eggs are a must-have. No matter how you customize the meat, it tastes delicious. We went with four alpacas, and I think for adults, ordering two servings of the meat you want to try and one serving of hormone dishes is just right. We were completely satisfied and full. The local atmosphere was very calming and perfect for alpacas. It was a great experience!

Located about a 6.7-minute taxi ride from Hino Station is the yakiniku restaurant "Daikoen." (It's about a 5-minute walk from Komiyama Station). Since they do not allow reservations for specific items, it is recommended to order the premium selection items during the first round, so we made a reservation for 4 people at 17:30 for our first visit.
Order details:

We ordered around 10 items, focusing on specialties like liver and beef offal grill and premium tongue. We started with comparing the premium tongue and chuck flap tail. Even the chuck flap tail was quite thick and satisfying, but the premium tongue was even thicker, making it a bit challenging to cook on the roaster, but when cooked nicely, it was delicious.
Next, we tried the chuck rib in three varieties: regular, medium, and premium. The regular was already quite tasty, but personally, I preferred the medium as it had more marbling. My personal favorite was the hormone mix, which included 5-6 cuts of various parts for a great value of 1,600 yen. The cuts were large, especially the honeycomb tripe, which was the size of a past No. 1, providing a satisfying bite.
The bill came out to around 5,000 yen per person. With this quality of food at this price, I believe it's worth traveling a distance to dine here. Thank you for the meal.

Visited with a friend! It's a 6-7 minute taxi ride from JR Hino Station and less than a 5-minute walk from Komiyama Station, but we went from Hino Station for convenience. After eating, we walked for about 30 minutes for exercise.
Ordered menu:
- Kimchi: A dish with a good balance of spiciness and strong umami flavor. A dish that raises expectations!
- Senmai sashimi: Fresh senmai (beef stomach) that was very good.
- Seared yukhoe (Korean beef tartare): I recently started liking seared yukhoe. It goes well with the sweet sauce.
- Butsugiri liver: The liver was firm and had no unpleasant smell. I liked it!
- Upper tongue with salt: I like this! It was quite thick and satisfying.
- Special selection tongue with salt: A specialty? The special selection tongue is difficult to roast on the grill, but when cooked beautifully, it's incredibly delicious!
- Upper harami (skirt steak): A harami with less fat, very meaty!
- Middle loin: I didn't know which part it was, but it had a good amount of marbling and tenderness, very satisfying.
- Hormone mix: For around 1,600 yen, the volume was unbelievable with 5-6 different cuts. Very satisfying!
- Loin: It was like a platter of various cuts of loin. The regular loin was also delicious!
- Yukhoejang soup: A mildly spicy yukhoejang soup that was refreshing and a great way to finish the meal!
I was shocked that we could eat so much and the bill was in the 5,000 yen range! This is a restaurant that you must visit at least once! Thank you for the meal!

Located less than a 10-minute walk from Komiyae Station and about a 30-minute walk from Hino, this yakiniku restaurant is quite well situated. For those coming from the city center, taking a bus or taxi from Hino would be the best option. I made a reservation for a Sunday night and visited. The exterior of the restaurant is that of a small countryside yakiniku place, and you wouldn't expect a renowned restaurant to be here. The interior, surprisingly, is bright with white as the main color scheme. There seems to be a second floor as well, but I'm not sure what it's like up there. The seating is tight, so you can't really stretch out, but it's clean and you can enjoy your meal without any issues. We ordered a total of 11 dishes, including the famous liver and intestines grill and premium tongue. The liver and intestines grill had a crispy texture as praised, and it was delicious. The tongue was also tasty. The skirt meat was not as great, but I think it might be because we went on a Sunday. The loin, even the regular one, had just the right amount of marbling, and while many places are good with the regular, the medium here was really delicious. Also, the assorted hormone plate had large cuts and felt very cost-effective. Overall, the cost performance is great. If I go again, I'd like to try more hormone dishes.

In a quiet residential area, there is a lone light shining - that is Daiko-en Komiyamoto Store. The thickness of the special selection beef tongue is extraordinary. The ribeye was delicious as well, although it had a bit too much fat. However, the sirloin lacked the meaty flavor and felt a bit like chewing gum. I apologize for being critical.
