Hot Pepper's summer point redemption festival just gave me 9,000 yen worth of points, so let's go for eel! I used the points at a yakiniku restaurant where they could be used, so I'll send you back your share through PayPay! Now, let's start with some drinks. Are you having draft beer (650 yen) and I'll have a bottle (650 yen). There you go, cheers! Now, what should we eat? How about some skewers? You really liked the grilled eel last time, so let's have that. And let's go for the grilled eel set. Grilled eel (3,600 yen), Plum grilled eel set (3,550 yen), change liver sashimi (150 yen). The set comes with bamboo skewers, but last time we found them a bit too much after eating and drinking a lot, so let's just have the set with rolled omelette and bone and chug down some beer. Would you like a refill? Sorry, draft and bottled beer, please! Is this your first time here with me? My dad used to bring me here when I was a kid and I've been coming here ever since. It's not a fancy place, but it's reasonably priced, delicious, and casual, which I like. Here comes the grilled eel! Let's dig in. Mmm, delicious! The aroma that spreads in my mouth is amazing. What should we do, should we go for some sake? How about you? The cheapest one. Suisen (600 yen), served cold. Occasionally, it's nice to have. Let's dip it in wasabi and take a bite. The softness is nice. I used to think grilled eel was... well, to be honest, not my thing. Let's try some sake comparison. Suisen, nama-choshuzo (800 yen). And, let's order the eel rice bowl now! What do you mean by nama-choshuzo? Should I be grateful for the 200 yen difference? I said that, but this one has more quantity, so the price isn't that different, right? What? This one is more viscous and has a raw feeling? What's that about? Well, it has that kind of feeling, but is that good? I don't really drink sake, so I don't know. It's about the atmosphere, you know. If you know too much, it becomes an expensive sake. Now, here comes the eel rice bowl! Let's open the box. Mmm, smells good! It looks beautiful and tastes great. Let's dig in. Delicious! Grilled eel is good, but isn't broiled eel the best? Well, both are delicious. It's fluffy and plump. The sauce has just the right sweetness. This place is really nice. That was a great meal. Thank you! It's 7,425 yen? I gave you 4,500 yen worth of points earlier, so it's actually 3,000 yen. Let's earn more points with Hot Pepper and go for eel again!

On a hot day, there's nothing like eel to regain your strength! With that in mind, I visited Toritei Shinjuku store, just a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station South Exit at the intersection of Koshu Kaido and Meiji Dori. I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon. The first floor is for takeout, so I headed upstairs. The place was crowded, but luckily I managed to find a seat without waiting. There are 14 table seats and 10 counter seats. I looked at the menu and had a hard time deciding what to order. The limited special lunch was already sold out, so I went with the recommended Unaju bamboo box for 3500 yen, eel skewers liver grill for 637 yen, and eel roll for 455 yen. The Unaju bamboo box arrived in about 10 minutes, followed by the skewers. I dug in and found the eel in the bamboo box to be tender with a light oiliness, very delicious. The skewers were also flavorful and tender, without any strong taste. The prices were relatively cheap and reasonable. Thank you for the meal!

This is my first time writing a review, but I have actually visited this place many times. The restaurant was established in the 8th year of the Tenpo era, but that's not really important. The point is, you can enjoy delicious eel at a reasonable price here. This time, I was busy with work so I opted for a takeout of the special selection. My wife usually dislikes eel takeout, but she said it was delicious this time. In the end, that's what matters. The sauce, of course, is a matter of personal preference. Depending on the season, the eel dish made with the best domestically sourced eel processed by skilled craftsmen has a light and fluffy texture, yet it has a firm bite and a fragrant aroma. Eating at the restaurant is undoubtedly the best option, but even when taken out and cooled, it remains fragrant and delicious.

You can enjoy domestically produced eel at a reasonable price! The photo shows a set with bamboo for around 3500 yen! It comes with side dishes and provides a satisfying experience. For this price, domestically produced eel is definitely worth it! I found a great restaurant for when you have a craving for eel during the hot summer months!

I missed eating eel on the midsummer day of the ox, so I went to Denbei to have some eel. It was the first time I had eel at a Tokyo eel restaurant since I was transferred to Tokyo two years ago. Today, I ordered the Shirayaki (grilled eel) bowl. Eels in Tokyo are steamed, so they are fluffy. There was chopped pickled shiba (a type of plant) under the eel, which added a nice salty and sour flavor that matched well with the Shirayaki. Next time, I think I'll try the Shirayaki or kabayaki (grilled eel) set meal.

I was lucky to find an available table at the long-established restaurant, Toh-tei, which has been in business for 60 years. It was my first time trying eel from Aichi prefecture. The eel had just the right amount of fat and was light in flavor. The sauce was not too sweet, with just the right amount of saltiness. In Fukuoka, I usually have steamed eel, but in Tokyo, it seems that grilled eel is more common. I only knew Nishimura in Tokyo for eel, but now I have found another luxurious restaurant to visit on special occasions.

We decided to go out for eel dinner on the day of the ox, as our family had a day off. We went early and were able to enter the restaurant without waiting in line. We enjoyed eel rice bowls and grilled eel liver. By the time we left, there was a long line outside. It was a perfect timing to welcome the summer. The meal was delicious. We will definitely come back again.

In the scorching heat, I couldn't wait until the midsummer day of the ox✨ I spotted a familiar sign along the Koshu Kaido highway, and it turned out to be the sister restaurant of Toshimatsu that I tried in Ginza. Without hesitation, I went in and luckily managed to order the weekday lunch special, a traditional eel dish for only 1700 yen (excluding tax). The smoky flavor from the charcoal grill and the fluffy texture were exceptional, reaffirming my love for Japanese cuisine. This might just help me survive the summer. ☆ Tabelog Rating: 3.47 Opening Hours: 11:00-21:00 Closed: No regular holidays Payment: Cards, electronic money accepted #ShinjukuGourmet #ShinjukuLunch #ShinjukuSanchomeLunch #ShinjukuEel #TokyoEel #EelLovers #MidsummerDayoftheOx #GinzaEel #GinzaLunch #Totei #shinjuku #Eel #EelTotei

Once a year, I like to treat myself to eel from an eel restaurant. I tried the recommended set that was not available for lunch, and it truly had the taste of a specialty store. The smell was fragrant, the eel was soft and tender, and the sauce harmonized perfectly with the rice and eel. The liver, pickles, and eel bone crackers were all delicious as well. Since I am from Hamamatsu, I was fed good eel by my grandfather when I was young, but my taste buds have generally just labeled anything above a certain level as "really delicious." Therefore, I cannot really explain the difference between this place and other specialty stores, but it clearly stands out from eel bowls at fast food chains that focus on quantity. The fast food chains also taste good due to corporate efforts, but the main difference is the richness of the sauce and fat. Cheap eel bowls fall under the category of "hearty meals," while specialty store eel falls under the category of "eel." Even though it's not something I can eat regularly due to the high price, I will try my best to treat myself to delicious eel once a year...

I visited a shop that always had a good smell on the street and was curious. The eel tasted as expected, with a sweet sauce and fluffy eel meat that matched well and was delicious. It came with miso soup and pickles. The limited lunch menu seems to be a good deal. I arrived after 1 pm and it was already sold out, so I ordered from the regular menu. In this case, the eel price was average. I quite liked the nostalgic interior of the shop! I will visit again, thank you for the meal.

Today, we had a visitor in the morning and decided to go out for lunch after the meeting. Since it's July, how about eel? There are many delicious eel restaurants in Shinjuku. We found a place that said we could make a reservation on the same day. It's called Tochin, and they can accommodate 4 people. It's located at the intersection of Meiji Avenue and Koshu Highway. I've been curious about that place for a while. We all walked there together. This year, it's really hot from July. Eel might be the perfect choice for relieving the heat. We passed under the yellow sunshade and went up to the second floor of the restaurant. It was quite crowded before 1 pm. It's really convenient to be able to make a lunch reservation. Since we came all the way, we decided to go for the top quality rather than the regular. The top quality eel comes with two halves of eel on top. It arrived shortly after ordering. The neatly grilled eel looked appetizing. The person who came up with this way of eating eel is truly amazing. The thick meat was firm, fluffy, and had a good texture. I think this texture is unique to eel. The rice soaked in sauce was delicious. I could easily eat two bowls of rice with this. Even though the portion was large and I couldn't eat anymore, I'd like to try the grilled eel next time. Dip it in wasabi, pour some sake, and enjoy. It was delicious. Lunch (top quality) for 3400 yen.

When I felt like going to eat eel, I found that there was no line at the restaurant around 4 pm on a weekday. I asked if lunch was still available, but of course, it was already over. The eel restaurant doesn't have a high threshold or intimidating atmosphere, so you can enter with the same feeling as entering a casual dining place. You can enjoy the authentic taste of eel, with generous portions of eel. The cost performance is also good, so if you want to eat eel in Shinjuku, this is the place to go. This time, I ordered a set that came with eel rolls and liver in small side dishes with eel rice bowl, which was a great deal and paired well with drinks.

When it feels damp and gloomy, there are times when you suddenly crave for eel. That's when you should head to this place. Unlike other traditional eel restaurants with a high-end atmosphere, Totei is welcoming and unpretentious. It feels like a local diner, but what's wrong with that? As long as the eel is delicious, that's all that matters. In the Edo period, eel was considered a stamina food for laborers. Even in modern times, Totei offers delicious eel at a reasonable price without any airs. This down-to-earth approach may be the true essence of an eel restaurant. I have loved this place for a long time. Thank you as always. Bon appétit.

Every year as summer approaches, I come to Tochou to eat eel. The location is great, and there were also many foreigners, probably because the situation with COVID has improved. The eel is plump and the sauce is just right. The pickles are also very delicious.

Shopping at Shinjuku Takashimaya. I was planning to have lunch at Takashimaya as well, but my husband said he wasn't feeling hungry due to the side effects of his medication and had a slight stomach ache. Since we were at Shinjuku Takashimaya, I decided to go to Animate in Shinjuku and buy some Genshin Impact goods for our son. We walked to Animate, and on the way, we saw a sign for eel. I suggested that maybe he could eat eel, and he thought that was a good idea. We got eel for takeout on the first floor. There are also seating areas on the second floor for dining in. The eel dish was only 1700 yen, which was amazing. I also ordered liver sashimi for 1773 yen and bone senbei for 273 yen. It was so delicious that even I could finish it. I would recommend trying a different course if you're a man, as this one might be too much.

At a crossing on Koshu Kaido Street, there is an eel restaurant. I knew of its existence for a long time, but it blended into the scenery so much that I never really thought about going in. I decided to try it out. I went upstairs to the restaurant which had a casual atmosphere like a diner. I ordered the special lunch set. The eel was grilled crispy on the outside. It had a nice texture and no bones at all. The charred aroma was light and pleasant. The sauce was a bit on the light side, so if you like more sauce, you may want to ask for extra. The portion of rice was generous, and I enjoyed a delicious meal that left me feeling satisfied.

About 15 years ago, you could eat an eel bowl for around 1,000 yen, but now it's common to see prices of 2,000 to 3,000 yen. Despite the rising cost of eel, Totei-san is doing their best. They carefully remove the bones, making this the go-to place for eel cravings.

A specialty eel restaurant located along the Koshu Kaido, walking towards Bardo 9 from the south exit of Shinjuku Station. There were few customers as it was off-peak hours, making it a relaxing dining experience. The photo shows the dish "Take" made with one eel. Personally, ordering a single item was sufficient, but the set menu with liver sashimi and other items is a good deal. While I wouldn't say the taste was exceptional, one thing that stands out is that eel dishes tend to be expensive no matter where you go.

I felt like eating eel, so I asked my husband who lives in Tokyo and came here. It's a reasonable long-established restaurant with a lot of customers. I ordered a great value set. It came with eel over rice, fried eel bones, eel rolls, tempura of eel fin, simmered eel liver, and pickles, and I also ordered eel liver sashimi. The dessert, sweet potato fried bones, was delicious, and I even ordered a beer in the middle of the day. The eel over rice was delicious with a refreshing sauce. Eels in Tokyo are really good. The price in the heart of Shinjuku is amazing. I want to come back again.

I heard a story that my grandfather used to love the eel from this place, and when my mother got married, he would often bring back souvenirs for the family. As a child, I found eel a bit scary because when you flipped it over, you could see the slimy black skin. But the delicious taste was irresistible, so I tried to eat it without looking at the underside. When I walked through the entrance of the restaurant, memories from about 50 years ago resurfaced, with thoughts of the eel my grandfather used to bring back. I felt like eating delicious eel, especially after getting my stitches removed at the dentist and feeling refreshed. I had read a review mentioning a 1,700 yen lunch set, but as soon as I sat down, I was told that the lunch was sold out for the day, which was disappointing. It felt like my grandfather was telling me from above, "Enjoy good food while you're alive, treat yourself." So, I decided to go with the recommended "Nobori Set Bamboo" with soup. The set came with four small dishes, including pickles, and even though I briefly thought it might be a bit lonely without a drink, I remembered I was on my bike today. The eel, as expected from a long-standing establishment, was delicious. I couldn't resist adding the liver sashimi for an extra 150 yen. As I rode my bike home and looked up at the early blooming cherry blossoms, I realized that the equinox was approaching. It was a delightful meal.
