Pepper Food Service Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sumida-ku, Tokyo) was founded in 1970 and established as a company in 1985. In November 1987, they opened the "Steak Kuni Ryogoku Store," and in 1994, they opened the first store of "Pepper Lunch Ofuna Store" in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. They currently have 117 stores nationwide. Their management philosophy is "Bringing smiles to customers, business partners, and everyone involved in my work, enriching the local community." In addition to Pepper Lunch, they operate restaurants such as Charcoal-grilled Steak Kuni, Specialty Tonkatsu Katsukitei, Charcoal-grilled Hamburg Kuni, 92'S, Tokyo 634 Burger, Gyu-Tan Sendai Natori, and Ikinari! Steak. The Akihabara store is the only one remaining, previously there were two stores in Yodobashi AKIBA and along Chuo Street. The basement has Angelique Fresca, the 1st floor has the popular Akihabara Kurikoan for foreign tourists, and Pepper Lunch is located at the back. The seating is cramped with a counter in a "C" shape, mainly attracting nearby office workers and foreign tourists. Payment is made in advance. I was lucky to be able to use a free drink coupon I received at the Akabane store at this store. The Beef Pepper Rice (large) with plenty of meat costs 1,080 yen including tax, and I also ordered miso soup for an additional 108 yen. Mix the pepper, garlic rice, and corn on the hot plate before it cools down. The taste was bland, so I added sweet sauce and mixed it again, resulting in a delicious meal. Pepper Lunch's signature Pepper Rice remains a stable choice amidst the rise of Ikinari! Steak in this era, and I hope Pepper Lunch continues to operate forever.
