ぶっちゃんの食べぶろぐ
Today, I visited Sushi Ogawa located in Ginza 3-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. It is conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station and about 6 minutes from Shintomicho Station. While dinner can cost over 10,000 yen per person with alcohol, lunch is more affordable. The quality of the ingredients may vary, but the precious red vinegar rice is the same for both lunch and dinner. Lunch prices start from the 1,000 yen range, making it a great deal.
To enter, you go down the stairs to the basement and pass through the curtain. You sanitize your hands before entering. The first thing you hear from the proprietress is a smiling "Oh, are you doing well?" It's a joy to see the chef and proprietress in good spirits. The famous uni bowl is a bit pricey at 2,300 yen, but it's worth it. Even with the price increase, it's still a great deal within the Ginza area. The counter seats about 10 people, with some tables usually used for storing bags. During lunchtime, many salarymen gather here. I ordered the nigiri for 1.5 people. Depending on the season, there can be quite a variation in the quality of the tuna, but the rice quality remains consistent. The nigiri prices are 1,200 yen for 8 pieces, 1,500 yen for 10 pieces, and 1,700 yen for 12 pieces. Today's selection included sea urchin, ikura, tuna akami, chutoro, more chutoro, squid, sea bream, shrimp, bonito, firefly squid, simmered scallop, and tamago. The sea bream is from Akashi, and the small dish with Noto kelp is also excellent as an appetizer. The shrimp, squid, akami, and chutoro are slightly lower in quality compared to dinner. The rolls can either be tekka or chutoro. The chef is friendly and willing to chat, while the proprietress is polite and kind. The 1.5-person portion, served in a large bucket, costs 1,700 yen including tax. The red vinegar rice at this price point in Higashi-Ginza is truly exceptional. I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.
