Order: Yaki Gyoza 1.5 set meal for 825 yen (with less rice) Food and Drink Evaluation: I have visited this restaurant several times and the price is very reasonable for the variety of dishes included. Yaki Gyoza: The skin is large and quite chewy. The filling is traditional, with a good balance of meat and vegetables, and a moderate amount of ginger. The filling is not too much for each gyoza, making it more about enjoying the skin. I did not order it this time, but the boiled gyoza also has a nice chewy texture. The relatively light gyoza may divide opinions, but I enjoyed it as I like this type of gyoza. The slightly sweet grated daikon radish served with the gyoza is refreshing and tasty. Hiyayakko: Silken tofu with no special taste. The freshly grated ginger is a nice touch. Oshinko: Pickled vegetables with a crispy texture, a good palate cleanser. Miso soup: Delicious miso soup with a strong dashi flavor. Rice: Slightly softer than my preference but with firm grains. The quality of the rice was decent. Restaurant and Service Evaluation: The interior is like a local diner with no particular atmosphere. The cleanliness is impressive and well-maintained. The service is good and likable. Revisit: With high cost performance and delicious gyoza, I would like to revisit.

I entered the restaurant around 5:50 PM on a regular Friday. There were no other customers at the time, but the kitchen was busy cooking gyoza. It seems like this place is more focused on takeout orders. There is counter seating available, so it's comfortable for solo diners. I ordered the 1.5 gyoza set, where you can choose between pan-fried gyoza or boiled gyoza. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be served. The gyoza had a mild garlic flavor, but they can add more garlic upon request. The gyoza tasted great, especially when dipped in the grated radish soy sauce provided. It was light and delicious! I will definitely come back again.

You can enjoy a cheap gyoza set meal at any time, day or night. Located a 4-minute walk from Tsukuba Express Asakusa Station, Gyoza Kaikan Asakusa branch was visited for the first time at 7:25 pm on a weekday. The restaurant was thought to be spacious due to its location in a building, but it turned out to be small with a counter for 6 seats and two tables for 2 people each. There were two groups of customers with 2 people each and one single customer. The staff, a kind and friendly mother and her young daughter, managed the place well, and the entire restaurant was spotlessly clean, giving a sense of cleanliness. The background music was from the TV. The 1.5 set meal (9 pieces) cost 825 yen with free upsizing, making the total 825 yen. The set meal included rice, miso soup, pickles, grated radish, and cold tofu, as stated on the menu, which seemed to offer good value for money. A 10% discount coupon was not used as the prices were already very reasonable. The single set meal with 6 pieces was also a great deal at 660 yen. The set meal was served in about 10 minutes. The miso soup was ordinary in taste with seaweed and green onions. Overall, the set meal was simple but good value for money. This restaurant was one of the places the reviewer wanted to try, and they were glad to have finally visited it. As of July 2023, the restaurant had a Foodlog rating of 3.30.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. Since they only serve dumplings, I decided to go for lunch. I ordered the set with grilled dumplings and a lemon sour for 660 yen. I also added boiled dumplings for an extra 330 yen. Some people confuse boiled dumplings with soup dumplings, but these are boiled dumplings. It's fun to dip the grilled dumplings in the boiled dumpling sauce. Apparently, this restaurant gets their dumplings from a shop in Utsunomiya. But wait, these are Asakusa dumplings, not Utsunomiya dumplings! (laughs)

On a Sunday afternoon around 12 o'clock, about a 4-5 minute walk from TX Asakusa Station. It's on the way from Kaminarimon Street to Kappabashi Kitchenware Street. I felt like eating gyoza and remembered this place. It's a small shop in front of a park, with a TV at the back of the shop. There are two 2-person tables on the right side of the entrance and a counter on the left side. The counter has 6 seats, but due to the current pandemic, only 3 seats are available with one seat skipped between customers. The staff are two quiet older ladies. When we visited, the place was about half full, but quickly filled up. When ordering gyoza, there's a notice that it may take a little time when it gets busy. We ordered the following: 2 bottles of dry beer for 550 yen each (they also have Asahi Super Dry), pan-fried gyoza for 330 yen, boiled gyoza for 330 yen. It took a little time for the order to arrive, with the boiled gyoza coming first, followed shortly by the pan-fried gyoza. Both types of gyoza had slightly thick and chewy skins. The filling was light but with a decent amount of leek and garlic flavor. They were carefully made, holding together well when picked up or bitten into. Gyoza come in various types and everyone has their own preference, but personally, I prefer the boiled gyoza over the pan-fried ones here. They also have a soup gyoza menu that changes weekly, and I'm quite curious about that. The set meals that other customers were having looked generous with plenty of rice and even cold tofu, making it a good value for a satisfying meal. The gyoza are reasonably priced, the drinks are cheap, and they even have convenient small drinking sets, making it a great place for a meal or a casual drink. Next time, I'll try the soup gyoza. Oh, but I also need to visit the neighboring Chinese restaurant next time. Thank you for the meal.

This is a shop of Utsunomiya Gyoza located a little away from Asakusa Station. It has a shabby and retro exterior with a simple and clean name. The interior has a counter and two small tables for two, giving it a compact feel. The menu is also simple: "Yaki Gyoza" (330 yen), "Suigyoza" (330 yen), and "Soup Gyoza" (550 yen). There are also set menus with rice and miso soup for those who want a full meal. And drinks. I like this simplicity! I tried both the Yaki Gyoza and Suigyoza, and they were delicious with a good balance of vegetables and meat. The way they were cooked was also excellent! I think this is a great place to enjoy gyoza and drinks in a simple way. Thank you for the meal.

[Shop Name] Gyoza Kaikan Asakusa Branch [Nearest Station] Tawaramachi Station, 5 minutes walk [Lunch Budget] 660 yen - 990 yen Visited in April 2022 [About the Shop] I visited during lunchtime. The exterior and interior are both nicely designed. The shop is not very spacious, with only a few seats at the counter. The shop seems to be taking proper measures against COVID-19. It may feel a bit cramped, but it's understandable. They also sell frozen gyoza for takeout, and I saw some customers purchasing them. [About the Food] ★1.5 Set Meal - 825 yen Looking through the menu, it seems like they mainly offer gyoza and gyoza set meals with drinks. Unlike typical Chinese restaurants that offer a variety of dishes, this shop focuses mostly on gyoza. I ordered the "1.5 Set Meal," which is listed as having 9 gyoza. I chose pan-fried gyoza this time. ...I waited for a while. The serving time might be a bit long. The food is served over the counter. In addition to the main 9 gyoza, the tray also includes rice, miso soup, grated radish, pickles, and cold tofu. It's nice to have a variety of side dishes. The gyoza has a firm skin and a satisfying texture. The color and presentation are also appealing. The miso soup and other side dishes were delicious as well. I think it's good value for the price. Thank you for the meal.

The skin was soft and chewy, and the warmth of the food was great, but what stood out even more was the warm hospitality of the staff. I love Utsunomiya gyoza, so I had high expectations for the Gyoza Set Meal Double for 990 yen including tax. It's located in Asakusabashi. The food was delicious.

Lunchtime, after Christmas has passed, the world is gradually entering holiday mode. I visited from Asakusa, walking through the bustling Kappabashi shopping street and into a quiet side street. Upon opening the sliding door and entering, I was greeted by a friendly motherly figure and a young female staff member with glasses in the kitchen. The small restaurant had three counter seats and two small tables, all kept clean with a sense of cleanliness. It felt calming in there. Although I was hungry, I had plans afterwards, so I ordered a simple single set meal, grilled. After a short wait, it arrived! The set included rice, miso soup, pickles, grated radish, and cold tofu, all for 660 yen! It felt almost too good for the price. Some people write various things, but it was delicious. The skin and ingredients were safe and tasty. Since I had been eating bite-sized foods, it felt fresh. The middle-aged woman dining alone and the men seemed like regular customers, ordering their usual dishes even on a weekday afternoon, and getting a bottled beer or shochu highball with it (laughs). Anyway, I enjoyed the meal. I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal!

I love dumplings. It seems like a food that everyone likes. I have known about this restaurant for a long time. It was selected as one of the top two best dumpling restaurants in Tokyo by a dumpling mania girl. She recommends Izumi Tachibana, who seems to be a voice actress. In an age where information is not always reliable, if a dumpling-loving girl believes it, then maybe it's worth believing. This dumpling mania girl can go to two places in Tokyo. One of them is here at "Gyoza Kaikan" and the other is at Daigai in Asakusa, ensuring safety. Here, next to the "Juhachiban" where I previously visited, is "Gyoza Kaikan". It's definitely a cozy place with about six counter seats. The menu includes pan-fried dumplings (6 pieces for 330 yen), boiled dumplings (6 pieces for 330 yen), and set meals such as single set meal (6 pieces), 1.5 set meal (9 pieces), and double set meal (12 pieces). Let's try both pan-fried and boiled dumplings. I overlooked the soup dumplings menu. The "Pan-fried and Boiled Dumplings Set Meal" comes with rice, miso soup, pickles, and grated radish. The rice is of high quality for eating out. The dumplings are decent. The boiled dumplings are slightly larger and feel a bit soggy, probably from absorbing water. Pan-fried dumplings are a must, as expected. Maybe my expectations were too high, as I couldn't feel impressed, but they are tasty. Over the past ten years, I was surprised by the delicious dumplings at "Chugoku Ryori Yamahisa" where I visited once. Upon revisiting, I was disappointed. It seems that dumplings can drastically change in taste depending on how they are cooked. Dumplings used to be delicious everywhere in the past. "Gyoza is so good, right?" Recently, I have been eating dumplings at various places, and I have come to realize that some dumplings are not that tasty. The dumplings here are indeed recommended by dumpling girls, and they are as good as the dumplings in Utsunomiya, available in the west of Asakusa. You can enjoy them without much effort and without hurting your wallet. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on July 7, 2021, for lunch. It seemed like the restaurant had been closed for a while due to the impact of COVID-19, but it was open today, so I decided to have lunch here. I ordered the Gyoza set meal for 660 yen, which was very reasonable, and this time I ordered the double set meal for 990 yen. It was brought to me in about 10 minutes, and the gyoza had a chewy texture with a larger size. It had a satisfying volume. The taste was quite simple, neither good nor bad. The restaurant had solid COVID-19 measures in place, so I was able to eat with peace of mind. The atmosphere of the gyoza made me curious about soup gyoza and boiled gyoza, so I would like to try those next time.

Introduced on "Forest of Likes" and decided to visit the Gyoza Kaikan the next night. Surprisingly, it was not crowded at all. The reason being, I actually watched the episode on 11/19 in Sendai, but it was aired on 12/4 in the middle of the night. Maybe the broadcast time is different in Sendai? Or was it a rerun? This is the Asakusa branch of the Utsunomiya Gyoza Gyoza Kaikan, where you can enjoy the same taste as Utsunomiya. Sat at the counter and ordered a draft beer (Kirin 550 yen tax included) and grilled gyoza (330 yen tax included). There were many Utsunomiya Gyoza magazines on the counter. Flipping through them, I saw the girl I saw on TV yesterday. (Izumi Tachibana/ A famous voice actress who loves gyoza, apparently.) Oh, she's famous. The beer came out quickly, but I had to wait about 10 minutes for the gyoza to arrive. Finally, it came out. Now, take a bite. Hmm, delicious! Delicious, but somehow not satisfying. Is this how it is supposed to be? Did I have too high expectations? There are signs posted everywhere saying, "Please wear a mask when talking," but I couldn't help but notice three salarymen sitting at a small table, ignoring the partition between the back two-seater table and the counter seat, talking loudly without masks. It made me uncomfortable, so I ended up just having gyoza and beer and leaving. I wanted to try the boiled gyoza too. What a shame. Tsukuba EXP is a 4-minute walk from Asakusa Station, a 7-minute walk from Tawaramachi Station on the Ginza Line, and a 12-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Asakusa Line, within walking distance of about 11 minutes from Kaminarimon.

The restaurant is open until 8 pm, so after eating at the Chinese restaurant next door and feeling a bit unsatisfied, I decided to stop by. They had a set called "Sakunomi" which included one alcoholic drink and one gyoza for a total of 600 yen including tax! It was a modest but high cost-performance evening drink set. This time, I ordered a lemon sour, a grilled gyoza, and added cold tofu. The total came to 720 yen including tax. It's so cheap! The taste was just average, but at this price, I can forgive everything. Thank you for the meal (╹◡╹)

Next to Chuka Juuhachiban is a shop that offers a set meal of grilled dumplings with steamed dumplings added for a total of 990 yen including tax. It seems like a reasonable price for Utsunomiya dumplings, but at the same time, it's not that cheap. The taste is typical of Utsunomiya dumplings, with a vegetable-based filling and a mild flavor. In a sea of flashy dumplings, there is a need for more understated ones. The grilled dumplings have a slightly strong chive flavor, while the steamed dumplings have a noticeable ginger taste. It's unclear whether the filling ingredients are different or if it's due to the cooking method. Personally, I slightly prefer the grilled dumplings. It would be nice if they could introduce some unique dumplings to add a bit more personality, but perhaps that's difficult given their position as a branch of Utsunomiya dumplings.

Last night was cold, but this morning is still chilly. I got off the Fate Metro Ginza Line at Tahara-cho. I gave up on the path to becoming a Sichuan cuisine researcher and now I'm aiming to become a dumpling researcher. I found a suitable Chinese restaurant in a town market and headed down a side street on the east side of Kokusai-dori. The restaurant I was looking for turned out to be the neighboring one, but I decided to try the one with a sign for Utsunomiya dumplings. The restaurant was empty compared to the one next door. I took a seat at the counter, where there were six stools lined up. The restaurant was quite small, and it seemed like only one lady was running the kitchen. The sign by the entrance advertised a "1.5 set meal" for 825 yen, including 9 dumplings between a single (6 pieces) and double (12 pieces) order. The set meal also included pickled vegetables, cold tofu, and grated daikon radish. The miso soup was on the bland side. The dumplings were typical Utsunomiya style, lacking a punch. Mixing grated daikon radish with the dumplings was a nice touch. Overall, the dumplings were disappointing, but the experience was not a total loss. The television above me switched to a segment about 67-year-old Naomi Yoshiba's first casual fashion challenge. She looked beautiful and stole my attention from the 62-year-old beauty I had seen earlier. This made me question the previous beauty's position, wondering if it was all a calculated performance. Nevertheless, I couldn't help but be captivated by Naomi Yoshiba's charm.

This is the Asakusa branch of the Utsunomiya Gyoza restaurant. I really felt like eating gyoza, so I ended up ordering the set meal with 9 gyoza, which is about 1.5 servings. The gyoza was quite ordinary but tasty. It came with various side dishes, which made it easy to eat. However, I had to wait quite a while for the gyoza to be cooked, around 15 minutes. It would have been better if they announced the cooking time. I am so full that my stomach feels like it's going to burst. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant around lunchtime because I was curious. I ordered the Gyoza set meal double! The double comes with 12 pieces of Gyoza for 2 people, and it's very filling! Of course, the rice was also a large portion! The meal also came with cold tofu, grated radish, and pickles, so I was very satisfied! The rice was delicious too! The Gyoza didn't have any distinctive features, but they had a gentle flavor and were delicious! The price was also good at 1000 yen, with change coming back. I definitely want to visit this restaurant again!

Tokyo Gyoza Communication Editor-in-Chief Tsukada here. Continuing from the last time, it's a gyoza food tour in Asakusa. The next gyoza shop we visited after Gyoza-kan near Tobu Asakusa Station is... "Gyoza Kaikan." The name is similar to Gyoza-kan, but it's a completely different gyoza specialty shop. Gyoza Kaikan is a shop that specializes in Utsunomiya gyoza, with its main store located in Utsunomiya. Excluding Ikebukuro Gyoza Stadium and events, there are surprisingly few places in Tokyo where you can eat Utsunomiya gyoza, making it a rare find. The shop has a counter and two 2-person tables. We split into pairs and sat at the table. Looking up at the wall, we found the "One Coin Saku Nomu Set," a super deal where you can get gyoza and a drink for 500 yen. Each table ordered water gyoza and pan-fried gyoza as part of the set. I chose a Punch Lemon Sour to go with my gyoza, which seemed like a good match. Soon, the pan-fried gyoza was ready. The plate had 5 perfectly cooked gyoza. The skin was soft and had a nice texture, achieved by kneading the dough in hot water. The juicy filling had a high ratio of pork, typical of Utsunomiya gyoza. The gyoza had a perfect balance of crispy, chewy, and juicy elements, showcasing the expertise of Utsunomiya gyoza. I added plenty of chili oil to the vinegar soy sauce, and it went well with the Lemon Sour. Next up was the water gyoza. Boiled, it had a chewier texture compared to the pan-fried gyoza. I tried the Utsunomiya-style way of eating water gyoza. I crushed the gyoza into the hot water with vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil to make gyoza soup. It may sound strange, but it's surprisingly delicious. I also found Spicy and Sour Soup Gyoza on the menu and decided to try it. It had a bit more richness compared to the homemade soup. I was very satisfied with enjoying Utsunomiya gyoza after a long time at an affordable price of 1000 yen per person, with change to spare.
