This is a French cuisine from Provence in southern France that uses very little butter or cream. The appetizers are also well-prepared and cost-effective.
- Order:
Lunch at French restaurant Olivier for 1500 yen. You can choose between meat and fish for the main dish. I chose the fish dish, "Fresh fish bouillabaisse with shiso flavor". It has a rich fish bouillabaisse sauce with finely chopped shiso adding a refreshing flavor. It's really delicious.
There are 4 appetizers, including olive mousse, chicken...; grilled mackerel and seaweed couscous, ... pickles, ... cheese salad. The dishes incorporate elements of Japanese cuisine. They are all delicious, especially the grilled mackerel and seaweed couscous with a refreshing vinegar finish that makes you want to have seconds.
- Miscellaneous:
The small restaurant has 7 tables, but the spacing between them is comfortable, making for a pleasant dining experience.

A French restaurant that moved from Gakugei University to Yotsuya Sanchome. It used to offer course meals more like a restaurant than a cafeteria. I remember going alone once and enjoying the delicious and unique dishes created by the chef, who loves Provence cuisine. I visited at night this time after receiving an invitation. They also serve lunch, and the 1,500 yen lunch seems to be popular. At night, they only offer a la carte menu, and even elementary school students are welcome. It feels like a Provence-style cafeteria. They have pasta and curry, making it easy for children to enjoy a variety of dishes. I ordered ratatouille, brandade, meat sauce spaghetti, herb-grilled Iberico pork, pickles, and more. The dishes are reasonably priced starting from 550 yen. The bottled wines are also reasonably priced, making it a casual place to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine.

I visited Olivier-san after a long time. This time, I ordered the lunch course for 1500 yen. The main dish I chose was Miyazaki marumi pork thigh meat simmered in mushroom sauce. (The other option, fresh fish bouillabaisse, also looked delicious.) The meat was tender and the umami flavor of the mushrooms was amazing! The side dishes that came out first were Parmesan cheese salad, wakame couscous with grilled mackerel, seasonal pickles, and chicken wrapped in mousse. There were many elaborate dishes to enjoy, and I felt happy. The homemade bread was also delicious! The taste was as good as ever (^o^) The restaurant was about 80% full, probably because it was right in the middle of lunchtime. It made me a little happy!! I was full again this time, thank you for the meal.

There is a French kitchen hidden in a residential area near Yotsuya-Sanchome Station, and I have been looking forward to it since it opened last year. During lunchtime, only a 1500 yen course meal is available. The course meal allows you to choose between fish and meat, so I ordered the chicken loaf. The appetizers included pickles, quiche with octopus and salmon, fried oysters with couscous, and a colorful salad. The quiche, in particular, had a rich flavor and was delicious. The main dish, chicken loaf, had an outstanding taste with the sauce, and the surrounding vegetables were also delicious. *My companion ordered the fish dish, but I might prefer this one. The portion size was a bit small, but I think it's a reasonable price for 1500 yen. The shop, run by a couple (?), was very kind and we were able to relax. I would like to go for dinner next time.

Located in a residential area slightly closer to Yotsuya-Sanchome than Akebonobashi, this restaurant is tucked away on a side street just off the main road. I happened to come across it while wandering around Yotsuya-Sanchome and decided to visit soon. This time, I ordered the lunch course for 1500 yen. The lunch course allows you to choose between two main dishes (meat or fish). I chose the meat option, which on that day was roasted mushrooms and capers with mustard sauce on beautiful chicken thigh meat. You can also choose between bread or rice for your main dish, and I opted for the homemade bread. In addition to the main dish, the lunch course includes a side salad, three daily dishes, and seven seasonal vegetables. The Parmesan salad, wakame couscous, mackerel pickles, and chicken liver with honey sauce were served as side dishes, followed by the main dish and warm vegetables. The Provençal style cuisine here uses less butter and cream, resulting in lighter French dishes. Each dish was skillfully prepared and delicious. The variety of dishes is perfect for foodies like me. The chicken main dish was tender and paired well with the mustard sauce. I found this lunch course to be great value for money. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy coffee or dessert at leisure. I look forward to visiting again. I was completely satisfied and thank you for the meal.

On Valentine's Day, I wanted to go somewhere to eat casually, so I searched for a place near Shinjuku to Yotsuya where I could enjoy casual French cuisine and made a reservation over the phone. I was drawn to the restaurant by the photos of the dishes presented on Japanese tableware, which gave off a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe. The food was meticulously prepared and delicious. I can't remember the exact names of the dishes, but my date and I enjoyed the following: Cod and potato brandade, Chicken liver with yogurt honey sauce, Greek-style marinated mushrooms and onions, Marseille-style stewed squid stuffed with snow crab, Venison with cassis, espresso, and black pepper sauce, Bouillabaisse risotto, Rhubarb crème brûlée, Chocolate rare cake. I also ordered bread twice because I enjoy dipping bread in the bottle of coffee champagne sauce. The bread was homemade and had a nice chewy texture. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied after spending around 12,000 to 13,000 yen for the two of us.

🍽️ French Bistro Olivier Lunch 1500 yen
Located right near Yotsuya-Sanchome station, "French Bistro Olivier" offers a lunch set for 1500 yen where you can enjoy 7 dishes! You can choose between fish or meat for the main dish, and each plate is stylish and delicious. The cake we received as a service was topped with cream and red bean paste in the shape of a blooming flower, which was incredibly cute. Throughout the restaurant, there are symbols of good luck, like the cicada.
