Xinfucanke, originating from Kyoto and founded by Xu Yongdi from Zhejiang Province, China, started from a food stall near Kyoto Station in 1938. Now, it has made a name for itself in Tokyo, with branches in Akihabara, Hamamatsucho, and Azabu-Juban. While the yakimeshi, which 80% of customers order, is appealing, this review focuses on the signature dish, "Chuka Soba." The distinctive black soup is made with a rich blend of chicken and pork bones seasoned with a strong soy sauce, giving the impression of a thick broth. However, upon tasting, the broth surprises with its light and flavorful profile. The umami flavor spreads throughout the mouth, showcasing a delicate balance that comes from the expertise and knowledge of this long-standing establishment. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles, rich in wheat flavor with a hint of sweetness that complements the soup perfectly. I opted for a small portion for the first time and thought the amount of noodles was okay, but I wish there was a bit more chashu. However, adding more chashu would cost an extra ¥250. In that case, it would be better to just order a regular portion from the start and save ¥50. I might go for a regular portion with less noodles next time.

I visited around 7:30 pm on a regular night, and although the restaurant was crowded, I was able to get in without waiting in line. I recommend trying both the ramen and fried rice here, as they are both delicious. This time, I chose the "Small Ramen and Small Fried Rice Set" for ¥1050. The consistent taste that is the same as in Kyoto is much appreciated.

About 10 years ago, I had an amazing black fried rice dish in Kyoto. I knew there was a branch in Tokyo, so I decided to visit for the first time. Above the ticket machine, there were tempting options like ramen, half fried rice, half ramen, and so on. I couldn't resist the offer of ramen and fried rice, so I ordered that. The fried rice had a nice texture, not mushy but fluffy and delicious. I added a soft-boiled egg to the ramen for an extra 50 yen, and it was delicious to eat with plenty of pork slices. The impact of the meal was just as strong as before, even on my second try. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had ramen with appetizer char siu and Kujyo green onion topping. The amount of toppings is amazing, with a large portion of appetizer char siu that could even be a main dish. It also includes plenty of bean sprouts and green onions. The ramen soup is pitch black, and although I didn't order it this time, the fried rice is also black. The impact of the amount of toppings and the color of the soup is impressive, but surprisingly, the thin noodles go well with the soup's flavor and are delicious.

The best fried rice I had in Tokyo. The Chinese noodles were not as strong in flavor as I expected, but they were top-tier among the less crowded ramen shops. The thinly sliced chashu was delicious and kept coming with every bite. The bean sprouts were crunchy, and the green onions were also crunchy. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was a bit dim, but it added to the overall experience.

I found Shinpukusai-kan Azabu-Juban just before the lunch rush, and rushed in 10 minutes before their lunch service ended. I ordered the regular Chinese noodles for 800 yen, added rice for 150 yen, and a raw egg for 50 yen using the ticket machine. I tried to create my own meat bowl by placing the meat hidden under the leeks on top of the rice and adding the yolk in the middle, but it ended up falling apart ( ¯ ¨̯ ¯̥̥ ). However, I enjoyed the Chinese noodles, which looked all black but surprisingly weren't too salty and had a slight sweetness to the soup that paired well with the straight noodles and leeks. I ate my homemade meat and leek bowl with the soup after finishing the noodles, and it was delicious and satisfying.

When the Ramen Museum was established, I was impressed by the light yet flavorful soy sauce ramen I had there. Since then, I have been craving it regularly. I have also visited the Kyoto main store. After they expanded to Tokyo, I have been a regular at the Juuban branch. Their fried rice is irresistible. I recommend ordering the small ramen and fried rice set to avoid being overwhelmed by the portion size. It will leave you feeling fully satisfied.

Ramen (regular) with fried rice (small) for a weekday lunch. There were about 2 groups ahead of me, but the turnover was fast so I got in within 5-10 minutes. The set menu offers good value for money with generous portions. The fried rice has a rich sauce that tastes familiar in a good way. The thinly sliced char siu in the ramen pairs well with the dark soup, creating a perfect balance. The soup is not as heavy as it looks and I enjoyed it until the last drop. Very satisfied overall.

I visited in search of delicious fried rice. First, starting with a beer. Why does beer taste so good during the day? The Chinese ramen had the usual black soup with medium-thick straight noodles. It was delicious as always. And the fried rice. This one was also black...! The soy sauce flavor was strong and I really liked it. This could become addictive.

Chuka soba (Chinese noodles) with rice set, with extra green onions. Both the chuka soba and the fried rice are dark in color. Despite the dark appearance, the chuka soba soup is surprisingly light and easy to eat, especially with the extra green onions. The strong flavor of the fried rice complements the chuka soba well. The combination of the two dishes is excellent. The green onions also go well with the fried rice. This is a restaurant where you should definitely order the set meal.

The fried rice at Shinpukusaikan is the most delicious in Japan. To be able to enjoy their fried rice in Azabu-Juban, far from Kyoto, feels like a dream. I chose the small size for both the Chinese noodles and fried rice, and they both had a satisfying amount of food for one person. The Chinese noodles had plenty of leeks and bean sprouts, and even though it was a small size, it had a lot of char siu in the soup, which was a nice surprise. The soup was very dark but had a light and refreshing taste. I saw this video six years ago and finally had the chance to visit Shinpukusaikan Azabu-Juban branch. I would like to try wrapping the fried rice with Karin-san's char siu next time.

I had only been to this restaurant for lunch before, but finally got to go for drinks at night. I arrived around 6:30 PM and it was packed. The quality of the food, starting from the draft beer to the chashu and menma appetizers, was impressive. You purchase food tickets outside the restaurant, but you can also order additional items with cash, which is convenient. The staff is polite and attentive. The cost performance is also great, so I highly recommend going for drinks at night. Despite its run-down appearance, the mysterious charm of being in Azabu Juban made me appreciate the depth of this neighborhood once again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

This is a famous restaurant from Kyoto that opened its first branch in Tokyo about 10 years ago. Now they also have branches in Hamamatsucho and Akihabara. I visited the restaurant because I had been wanting to go for a long time. I arrived on a weekday at 12:20 and there were 4 people waiting outside. I only had to wait for about 10 minutes to get in (there was no more waiting outside after that). I ordered a set meal with a small ramen and a small fried rice for 1050 yen. First, the fried rice was served. It was black fried rice, not too sticky but very flavorful. It was delicious. Next, the black ramen was served. It wasn't as salty as the famous Toyama Black Ramen, but the soup was quite tasty. The green onions were delicious. The chashu was lean and thin. I thought the tube on the table was ginger, but when I added it to my ramen, I realized it was garlic. It added more flavor. This ramen may seem a bit rough now, but back when it first opened in Tokyo, it was quite impressive. It's a unique ramen. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. I personally preferred the fried rice over the ramen.

I don't feel any discomfort with a rating of 3.5. The small size of the Chinese ramen and fried rice was enough to fill me up. It cost 1050 yen. I'm glad I didn't order the regular size, the fried rice was delicious. I arrived a little past 11:40 and had to wait outside for 5-6 minutes. Luckily, a group left and I was able to enter smoothly. I sat down and got the fried rice in 1-2 minutes. It was small, about the size of two convenience store rice balls, but it was enough. It was well cooked with a nice crispy texture and a savory flavor. It wasn't like fried rice, but more like "yakimeshi" which was a pleasant surprise. When I had eaten about 3/5 of it, the ramen arrived. It was small for ramen, but still enough. The ramen was tasty but not outstanding, a bit on the salty side. The soy sauce was rich, but the aftertaste was too light. The chashu was thinly sliced pork belly with a nice tender texture. It was more than I expected in terms of quantity. The noodles were smooth and had a good chewy texture. I forgot to check the noodle maker in the midst of the atmosphere. While eating the ramen, I realized that this place specializes in Chinese ramen. I finished the ramen first and then the remaining fried rice. I was already full after finishing the ramen. I was satisfied. Maybe next time I'll just choose one. There was mayonnaise on the counter, I wonder if it's for the fried rice?

I felt like eating rich ramen, so I visited the Azabu-Juban branch after a few years. I was surprised by how much chashu was on top! It was nostalgic with so many toppings. In addition to ramen, the black fried rice is delicious and a specialty. Perhaps due to getting older, I couldn't eat the fried rice set, so I settled for just the ramen. This place is highly recommended for those who like rich flavors.

I found a noodle shop in the Asakusa area and decided to visit. There was a vending machine outside the shop where I purchased my meal, and it only accepted cash. The shop had around 10 seats, and the staff were friendly. The kitchen was visible from the seating area, and I saw the char siu being sliced by a machine when I visited. When I started eating, I was impressed by the generous amount of char siu and green onions, as well as the plentiful noodles. I felt satisfied after the meal. When I went to the shop in Kyoto, I usually only ordered ramen on my way back after drinking, so I rarely had fried rice. This time, I decided to try the fried rice to remember its taste, so I ordered a small bowl of ramen with extra green onions and a small portion of fried rice.
