On the second floor of a spa, there is a bar. About three years ago, one night, my wife suddenly said she wanted to drink a cocktail. Even though I still had work to do, I decided to join her, thinking that sometimes you just feel like it after work. I didn't know of any bars near our home where we could have cocktails. At that time, I didn't know Gorilla Bar yet - was it even around then? So, we took a stroll towards Nakano Station. Two bar signs were displayed on the narrow sidewalk. I hesitated between the two, but this bar had a 300 yen cover charge, while the other had a 500 yen cover charge. Without hesitation, we chose this bar. A long wall continued along the corridor on the second floor. Where was the entrance? We managed to find it and opened the door. This was not Nakano. It was not modern, but undeniably chic! A long counter stretched out, with a few table seats as well. We sat at a table. On the other side of the counter, there were several bottles of liquor lined up, and two men who looked like bartenders (they were young). There were no other customers. Well, if it's a super cheap bar, people usually come to check it out quickly (I was one of them), but these types of places take time to attract customers. As always, I ordered a dry martini. I don't remember what my wife ordered, but she probably made a vague order as usual. We also ordered a dish, but I don't remember what it was. What I clearly remember is when the food was delivered, I asked the man who seemed to be the master, "How is Nakano?" He replied, "I didn't know Nakano well, but it's a nice town," with a smile. "But it must be tough to run a place like this in Nakano." "We've just started, so we'll take it slow without rushing," he said, handing me his business card, "Please continue to support us in the future." Since then, we haven't visited again (apologetic bow). It's not that we don't like it, we just always forget. Some time later, when I went to this building during the day, the other bar across the corridor had closed down and was under construction. I thought, running a bar that charges a decent price in Nakano must be difficult, but a few days ago when I walked down this street, the sign was still up. Take it slow without rushing and do your best. I remembered, so I will visit again soon.
