Kanda Edo-style Sushi When it comes to sushi restaurants near Kanda Station, one of the local chains that comes to mind is Edo-style Sushi. I first visited Edo-style Sushi 25 years ago. At that time, I believe there were only two locations, but it was always crowded with office workers at lunchtime. Now there seem to be six locations. There is also a conveyor belt sushi restaurant now. It has been about 20 years since I last visited this restaurant. My impression back then was that the quality of the sushi was good for the price, with generous portions. I visited the restaurant with my follower from Tabelog, B-wanderer. Due to COVID, it had been two years since we last met up for drinks. We chose the less crowded middle counter area to sit. It was a weekday afternoon, so we decided to have some drinks. We started with beer and then ordered the Kanda sashimi platter for 1500 yen, which was a reasonable choice. Next, we had a tomato and onion salad for 800 yen, which was quite voluminous. We also had a daily sushi set for 1100 yen and a leaf wasabi roll for 250 yen. Finally, we had some seared bonito. We enjoyed some highballs after the beer and had a good time with the decent level of food served.

I probably got lost for the first time in my life at Kanda Station when looking for a place to have lunch, but I searched online for a highly rated restaurant near the station (I was in the mood for sushi that day, haha). The restaurant was conveniently located right in front of the station exit, and there were a few customers already there, but I had no problem getting a seat at the counter. The size of the restaurant was just right for me as a solo diner. There were many recommended dishes, but I played it safe and chose a few. I ended up ordering about 10 plates? I got carried away and even had some sake (bitter smile). I thoroughly enjoyed a late lunch after work. [Additional note] One day later, I found the receipt. 2 dishes at 300 yen, 3 dishes at 420 yen, 3 dishes at 460 yen, and 2 dishes at 560 yen. In total, it came to 4930 yen. Excluding alcohol, it would be 3730 yen, right?

It was the day of the festival for the local deity. I stopped by a sushi restaurant and enjoyed some sushi while watching a lively portable shrine passing by in the light rain. It was said to be the first festival for the deity in four years. I had a wonderful meal while feeling the atmosphere of the festival.

Visited on Monday. It had been a while since I had sushi. I decided to go for the special lunch option, which came with an extra dish of my choice. I chose red snapper. Lucky me! Each piece of sushi was delicious without a doubt. While there wasn't one standout dish that was amazing, every dish was consistently excellent. I usually finish a bowl of Jiro-style ramen easily, but this meal felt quite filling. It was nice to have miso soup included as well. The restaurant is located right in front of Kanda Station, with a bright and clean interior. Given the price and quality, I have no complaints. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The manager recommended a luxurious feast for 4600 yen. We sat at the counter with 4 people and ordered our favorite sushi. We also added extra fatty tuna. It was our first time having sushi in Kanda, and it seems there are multiple Kanda Edokko Sushi restaurants in the area. The shrimp was big and satisfying.

Sushi set for around 2300 yen~♪ Includes tekka maki, akami, anago, ikura, hotate, salmon, squid, shrimp, and flounder. All the toppings are thick and satisfying to eat, which is great ヽ(=´▽`=)ノ The anago was melt-in-your-mouth delicious~♪

It was raining in Kanda at 8 pm. I thought it was just a light drizzle, so I only brought a folding umbrella. But it was pouring down. I didn't want to get wet, and it was still early for me, so I jumped into a building right in front of Kanda Station North Exit and went to Edokko Sushi for a drink. I toasted with a glass of beer and enjoyed some firefly squid as an appetizer. Unfortunately, the crab I wanted was sold out. I ordered a sashimi platter with yellowtail, fatty tuna, squid, ark shell, whelk, scallop, horned turban, and red snapper. I had been stressed out from my boss's constant criticism, so this was a great way to relieve stress. The bill came to 3950 yen. And no, I'm not drinking instead of working on the task my boss assigned me, so just leave me alone.

Revisit Accuracy 50% Familiar Board-san was off, so I decided to try a different restaurant for a change, which turned out to be the Middle shop. It used to be right next to the West exit shop, across the road, but it had turned into a Hakata ramen shop at some point. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and opted for the lunch set instead of my usual choice. However, in the end, I ended up ordering my favorite toppings, so it ended up being a bit pricey. As a country bumpkin, I couldn't resist the overflowing ikura and uni, which really hit the spot for me. Honestly, the skills of sushi chefs vary, but today I was completely satisfied. Strong points: - Sushi handcrafted by chefs is different from conveyor belt sushi - Energetic and patient staff from Iwaki Improvement points: - The rice was slightly firm

After 8 o'clock at night at the north entrance of Kanda Station. I was supposed to do some leftover work at Excelsior Cafe, but somehow lost my mind and my body ended up going to Edokko Sushi Chuten instead. "Do you have any crab left?" Yes, we have some left! Tonight, both the counter seats and table seats were almost full, and I was guided to the only available counter seat. First, I raised a toast with a glass of draft beer to myself for a job well done. A bit late, the Seiko crab arrived. I savored the rich innards, crab miso, and crab meat slowly by myself - what a blissful moment. After cleaning up the crab shell, I ordered some sushi. Steamed shrimp x2, scallop x2. I enjoyed the crunchy steamed shrimp and the exquisite flavor of the scallop while sipping on hot tea. The total came to 4,140 yen. I indulged in delicious seafood treats and felt like I was in a palace under the sea. What, you think the princesses there are getting old? Leave me alone!

Just after 12:00 PM at Kanda Station North Exit. Went to Edokko Sushi Nakamise. The counter seats are separated by partitions, allowing space to comfortably sit with your belongings on the side. Had the Special Lunch with sea urchin, salmon roe, shrimp, eel, red snapper, medium fatty tuna, scallop, salmon, anglerfish liver, and squid... The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the shrimp head miso soup was also tasty. Fully satisfied and full after enjoying it all. Total came to 1,790 yen. It was a 100 yen price increase from last time, but with the current inflation, it's understandable. And no, I didn't win the lottery or anything! Just leave me alone~ (-_-メ)

Just after 1 pm in Kanda. The lingering summer heat is harsh, and my boss is on a business trip to Kyoto, haha. Let's treat myself to a luxurious sushi lunch today~(* ̄∇ ̄)ノ Special lunch with sea urchin, salmon roe, fresh baby sardines on sushi boats, shrimp, eel, red snapper, medium fatty tuna, scallop, salmon... The freshness of the ingredients is superb, and the miso soup is delicious. Full and satisfied. All for 1690 yen. Such a great value for this lineup of sushi. If only there was a bit more wasabi, it would have been perfect. What's that? Should I have just taken a wasabi pack from the conveyor belt sushi place next door? Leave me alone~(-_-メ)

Today is the last day for "Kanda Edo-kko Sushi." I decided to end it at the "Chuo branch." This place is in the same building as the "Rotating Sushi Edo-kko" I visited the other day, and they are right next to each other. It's bold to have two different sushi concepts in the same building, but I guess it works because they have different styles. The walls of the restaurant had paintings of the "Main branch" and "Chuo branch," but both of them are already closed. It's a bit strange that there is no "Main branch," but it seems like each branch competes with each other in a positive way. Even after 1 PM, the restaurant was still bustling with customers. I ordered the "Donchicchi Horse Mackerel and Fresh Shirasu Bowl" for 1,200 yen (tax included). And of course, I got the large portion for free! The "Donchicchi Horse Mackerel" is a brand given to horse mackerel from Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture, with a body fat percentage of over 10% and a size of over 50g. "Donchicchi" represents the traditional performing art "Iwami Kagura." However, when I tried it, I didn't feel the richness of the fat as much. Personally, I think the "Kin Aji" from Tokyo Bay or the "Seki Aji" from Saga-kan are tastier. I was able to distinguish the unique characteristics of each branch. I completed my tour of "Kanda Edo-kko Sushi," but it was a bit underwhelming as the final stop.

Established in 1957 in Kanda, Kanda Edokko Sushi is a well-known sushi restaurant in the area. With five locations in the Kanda area and one in Ueno, this restaurant is known for its traditional Edo-style sushi. The Kanda Edokko Sushi Central Branch, which opened in 1987, is located in the Sakurai Building near the north exit of JR Kanda Station. The lunch menu ranges from 1,000 yen to 3,080 yen, with options like the Bamboo Lunch, Pine Lunch, Central Branch Lunch, Special Lunch, and the Deluxe Nigiri set. On Mondays and rainy days, they offer a complimentary piece of sushi with your meal. The sushi here is known for its generous portions and delicious flavors, with highlights like the large ikura (salmon roe) and flavorful anago (sea eel). The reviewer recommends trying the Saba (mackerel) as an additional piece, which is fresh and satisfying. Overall, Kanda Edokko Sushi is a great spot for authentic Edo-style sushi in the Kanda area.

Located in front of Kanda Station, "Edokko Sushi" has several branches in the area. As the name suggests, it is a casual sushi restaurant. Established in 1957, it seems to have been operating in the hustle and bustle of the post-war era, serving the stomachs of salarymen. I would like to pay my respects to their work first and foremost. I visited the "Nakaten" branch, located through a passage called "Sakurai Koji" in front of Kanda Station North Exit. The atmosphere was lively and the chefs were efficient and friendly. I ordered the "Nakaten Lunch" and added a small dish. The food arrived in about 3 minutes, showing their quick service. The sushi pieces were large and satisfying, perfect for a hungry businessman on the go. The fatty tuna was sweet and smooth, the steamed shrimp had a good texture, and the sea urchin liver was luxurious. The salmon roe was smooth on the surface, and the kelp with eggs had a great thickness. While not delicate, the quality of the ingredients was evident. The restaurant exuded energy, brightness, and freshness, living up to its "Edokko" spirit.

I had the Special Lunch for ¥1690 from the lunch menu. The rice was bigger than usual because it was a lunch set. The rice was warm and soft, but the toppings were a bit disappointing. However, you can have refills of miso soup, and for this price, I am satisfied.

Yesterday's lunch was at "Edokko Sushi" (Naka Branch) (photo 1). This is the sister store of the conveyor belt sushi restaurant I mentioned the day before. The menu in front of the store (photo 2) caught my eye as I entered around 1:00 pm, just after the lunch rush. The restaurant was quite empty, with only 2-3 people inside. After sanitizing my hands, I was courteously seated at the counter and ordered the "Naka Branch Lunch (¥1,450)." I was informed that it was Monday service, so I could choose an additional piece of sushi from a selection. I chose the "daily special (bonito)" and it arrived within 3 minutes (photo 3). The quality was excellent, with delicious sushi and perfectly formed nigiri. The chef must be top-notch. Additionally, with the PayPay campaign and Chiyoda Ward campaign, I received 652 points back, making the meal only ¥792. I feel like I got a great deal and will continue to take advantage of these campaigns.

Kanda Station North Exit at 6:30 pm. "Are there any Seiko crabs left?" Yes, there were some left! Tonight, the counter seats were full, so I was seated at a table. I started with a glass of draft beer to cheers to myself for a job well done. The Seiko crab arrived a bit late, but I savored the rich innards, crab miso, and meat all by myself. Such bliss! After finishing the crab, I ordered some sushi. The steamed shrimp, sea urchin, and salmon roe were all delicious. I slowly sipped on hot tea while enjoying the firm texture of the shrimp and the melt-in-your-mouth sea urchin. The natural flavor of the salmon roe was also delightful. The meal ended up costing 3810 yen. I savored the delicious seafood feast and felt like I was in a palace under the sea. What's that, you say the princesses there look a bit old? Leave me alone!

Kanda before 8pm. Went to Edokko Sushi. Started with a cheers with a cold beer to myself (* ̄∇ ̄)ノ I was looking forward to the Seiko crab, but unfortunately it was sold out. Ordered the following instead: sea urchin, salmon roe, red clam, hokkigai clam, shrimp. The toppings were delicious. But I couldn't get over the shock of not being able to eat the Seiko crab. Don't suggest coming back for revenge tomorrow, just leave me alone. (-_-メ)

After 8:30 pm in Kanda. I went to the Edokko-Chu store at the north exit. To celebrate the lifting of the alcohol time limit starting today, I toasted with a glass of draft beer to myself~ (* ̄∇ ̄)ノ I overheard the young person next to me ordering, so I ordered the Seiko crab from Funka Bay. It's in season until the end of this month. The flavor of the crab meat and miso is exquisite~ (* ̄∇ ̄)ノ And then, a "luxurious 2-piece assortment" with one piece each of ikura and uni. The uni melts in your mouth♪ The ikura overflows from the gunkan♪ In the end, it cost 3560 yen. With delicious seafood, I feel like I've come to heaven after a long time~ (* ̄∇ ̄)ノ What, worried about high uric acid levels and going to hell? Leave me alone~ (-_-メ)

For lunch, I decided to have some sushi here. Looking at the menu, the prices were relatively reasonable overall, and I ordered the cheapest option, the "Take Lunch." I also added the "Shell Sea Urchin" from the "Rainy Day Service" menu, which was a great deal at ¥250. The shell sea urchin was served first. The Kitamurasaki sea urchin, which is currently in season, was slightly small but had a good amount of flesh and a refreshing, elegant sweetness. The nigiri sushi, including Kohada, Katsuo, and Black Tiger shrimp, were all fresh and delicious. While many sushi restaurants offer lunch sets with cheap salmon and pre-packaged sushi rice, this place provided a slightly higher quality sushi experience at a lower price.

I decided to go to "Edonoie" for lunch on Saturday, but when I arrived, the staff informed me that they were temporarily closed due to the state of emergency, and recommended the nearby "Nakamise" instead. I received a 100 yen discount coupon and moved to Nakamise. The restaurant was almost full as only this place and a nearby conveyor belt sushi restaurant were open. I sat at the counter and ordered the "Nakamise Lunch". I was served tea and miso soup first, with a delicious miso soup with good dashi. The first round was 3 rolls, with pickled vegetables in the middle. The second round consisted of 4 rolls of tuna, sea bream, and others. The third round had 3 rolls of squid, shrimp, and more, totaling 10 rolls. The total cost was 1,450 yen including tax, but with the 100 yen discount coupon, it was 1,350 yen. The squid was particularly soft and delicious. Since the menu may vary by location, I will visit again once the state of emergency is lifted!
