Ordered Vegetable Tanmen: 800 yen
Visited in search of Tanmen. Confirmed "Vegetable Tanmen" on the menu near the entrance and entered the restaurant located underground. Sat at an available seat and ordered "Vegetable Tanmen". Immediately, cold light oolong tea was placed on the table. Soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, and pepper were all available on the table. After about 7 minutes, Vegetable Tanmen was served along with rice, pickles, and almond jelly on a tray. The noodles in the Vegetable Tanmen were yellow, curly, flat noodles. The texture was slightly soft when chewed, but smooth and easy to swallow. The ingredients included pork, cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, onions, greens, and wood ear mushrooms. The pork and vegetables were stir-fried before being combined with the soup. The pork was thinly sliced shoulder loin, similar to the green pepper beef seen in set meals. It was tender with a good amount of softness. The vegetables like cabbage were cooked thoroughly, not too firm, and easy to eat. The portion was slightly over 200g, but with rice included, it felt like a good amount. The wood ear mushrooms had a soft texture without much elasticity. The soup was a cloudy, salty broth made mainly from pork bones, chicken bones, and aromatic vegetables. It had a distinctive flavor of continental-style Chinese cuisine, rich in umami but slightly one-dimensional in taste. The saltiness was just right, and there was a generous amount of oil, giving the soup a rich and hearty taste. The temperature of the soup was slightly on the lower side. Finished the noodles and ingredients but left about half of the soup. The amount of rice, about a small bowl, was just right. However, the salty flavor of the Tanmen was a bit overwhelming. Managed to finish with the side dishes and pickled ginger. The complimentary side dishes of boiled egg, chicken nuggets?, and shredded cabbage were placed on the table. Each person got one small boiled egg seasoned with a light soy sauce dressing, which was delicious. The chicken nuggets? were small and round, slightly warm. The thick batter had a small amount of chicken inside. Tasted great when dipped in soy sauce from the table. The pickled ginger was a simple and refreshing finish. The almond jelly was cold, sweet, and delicious. Overall, the taste was average. However, with the rice and complimentary side dishes, the value for money was high. The service was average, and the cleanliness of the restaurant was decent. Thank you for the meal.
