In the midst of a trend where stylish cafes and new restaurants are booming, I visited a hidden gem for traditional Japanese cuisine and set meals based on a recommendation from local friends. Located in the "Fukutoku Shotengai" shopping street is "Fuku Sushi / Fukuzushi". Although it is a bit of a distance from Denenchofu Station, about a 10-minute walk, the restaurant is quite spacious with a store space on the first floor and a banquet hall on the second floor. They even have karaoke facilities and offer shuttle service by microbus for banquets. The interior of the restaurant has a counter with 6 seats, table seating, and even tatami mat seating, making it suitable for families with small children. The lunch menu includes: - Nigiri Sushi \1000 - Chirashi Sushi \1000 - Sashimi \1000 - Shrimp Tempura \1300 - Tempura \1000 - Seafood Bowl \1300 Unlike the typical "matsu-take-ume" style of sushi restaurants, all items are priced between 1000 and 1300 yen, making it very affordable for daily use. The wide range of menu options is also a rarity and very much appreciated for a sushi restaurant. The highly recommended "Seafood Bowl" consists of 7 types of seafood including tuna, young yellowtail, mackerel, golden eye snapper, sea bass, amberjack, and cucumber. You can choose to season it with soy sauce, but it's recommended to use the sesame soy sauce provided. It has a slightly sweet taste due to the addition of mirin, making it a delightful sauce. After enjoying half of the bowl, you can add kombu and bonito dashi to turn it into a delicious tea-infused rice dish. It's a hybrid dish that combines the best of both worlds, and as a fan of both rice bowls and tea-infused dishes, I was very satisfied. The meal also includes daikon salad, lotus root kinpira, pickles, and three side dishes. Despite the upscale image of Denenchofu, "Fuku Sushi" offers authentic sushi at reasonable prices, making it a popular choice among locals. Don't be intimidated by its grand appearance; this sushi restaurant is welcoming and accessible to all. Lunch hours are from 11:30 to 13:30, so if you're craving the unique "Seafood Tea-Infused Rice," it's worth taking a little detour.
