Shanghai Salted Chicken (500) Ma Po Handmade Noodles (880) Scoville Chicken Half (880) ・Shanghai Salted Chicken - Authentic salted chicken with bones! Despite being salty, it's not overwhelming at all! Instead, the natural flavor of the chicken stands out. The perfect amount of salt makes it incredibly delicious. The skin is firm and not greasy at all, while the meat is tender and juicy. Usually, when it comes to steamed chicken, people tend to choose chicken with scallion sauce or drooling chicken, but being soaked in salt water might be the best way to enjoy it! ・Scoville Chicken - This was absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe how delicious it was in a random restaurant like this! The thin and crispy batter is incredibly light and crunchy! The inside is fluffy and moist. When you bite into it, the juicy meat overflows from the side of your mouth. And the spice powder on top enhances the flavor even more! It's unbelievably delicious. And the fact that you get this much in just half a chicken is incredible! I feel so lucky to be able to eat such a masterpiece at such a reasonable price and be completely satisfied! This Christmas, I've decided to go for this Scoville Chicken instead of KFC or Toribar! ・Ma Po Handmade Noodles - After taking a sip of the soup, I was convinced of its deliciousness! The deep and rich flavor of the beef bone broth is evident. They also consider the timing of serving the dishes, making sure to bring out the next dish just as you finish the current one. It's nice to see this kind of thoughtfulness. They also announce that you can take the leftovers home, which is reassuring.

We ordered a great value evening drink set for two people four times. There was no apology even when our order was mixed up. The restaurant is located in Yotsuya-Sanchome, Akebonobashi, Yotsuya, and serves Chinese cuisine. The menu includes pickled vegetables, fried peanuts, potato fries, dried tofu, ginger pork, black vinegar chicken, chicken with cashew nuts, steamed chicken, drool sauce, homemade grilled dumplings, mapo tofu noodles, draft beer, lemon sour at a carefully selected pub.

I learned about Kai Ken in Yotsuya Sanchome from a special feature in the Nikkan Gendai newspaper. Thirteen dumpling enthusiasts gathered for a summer party. We enjoyed a dim sum course prepared by a dim sum master who trained at a 5-star hotel in Shanghai for 20 years at a very reasonable price, including all-you-can-drink for less than 4,000 yen. The dim sum included shrimp dumplings, chive buns, shumai, spring rolls, daikon mochi, sesame balls, and more. The chive buns and shumai were especially delicious. When we ordered additional pan-fried dumplings, they were jumbo-sized, about twice the normal size, and incredibly juicy and tasty.

The dim sum was delicious at this restaurant!! It was packed on a Sunday night. They have a wide variety of menu options and also serve alcohol. It was convenient to order. The soup dumplings and shrimp dumplings were especially tasty!! I would definitely come back again if I have the chance.

I climbed up the slightly cloudy Shinjuku street to watch the latest film by Dario Argento. The reviews are not so good, and I have a feeling that it might not be that great. A few years ago, Luca Guadagnino's remake of "Suspiria" was released, and I thought it was excellent, but I heard that Dario Argento was furious about it. I had never watched the original "Suspiria" as an adult, but I remember the tagline "Do not see it alone" vividly. Despite that, I ended up coming alone to watch his latest film because I heard that it might not be great, but there are occasional scenes with nudity. I stumbled upon a Chinese restaurant called "Kaiken" near Yotsuya Station, which seemed different from the usual Chinese restaurants. The interior was clean and organized, and I noticed a mix of people dining there. I decided to order the "Soy Sauce Ramen and Fried Rice Set (with dessert) for 800 yen", even though the presentation was not what I expected. The ramen and fried rice were typical of Chinese restaurants with a Japanese twist. The ramen was served in a tall conical bowl, making it challenging to eat with chopsticks. The soy sauce broth was minimal, but it didn't bother me much. The restaurant's cleanliness was a positive point. I also observed a tall Chinese girl working there who was hunched over, which made me wonder if there is a similar trend in China where tall girls try to appear shorter. Personally, I prefer tall and elegant women who stand tall, but I understand that some men prefer petite and hairless women. After watching the film, I was shocked in a way that can only be compared to the Niagara Falls!

While walking in Yotsuya Sancho-me, I discovered a Chinese restaurant with a wide variety of lunch menu options. I ordered the soupless tantanmen, which had a generous amount of sesame miso sauce. It was delicious when mixed with the noodles. Rice is complimentary, but you have to order it separately. I didn't order it this time. They also have daily specials, so I definitely want to come back and try them out.

Around Yotsuya-Sanchome station, where to go for an early lunch? BC was a popular Chinese restaurant called Juraku, but I stumbled upon this place. I decided to give it a try. The interior had a similar vibe to the previous restaurant, with Chinese pop music playing. I ordered the lunch special, Mabo Bonus, for 800 yen. The Mabo dish arrived with rice, soup, pickled vegetables, almond jelly, a small portion of gyoza, and a little side dish. The eggplant in the Mabo dish was piping hot and spicy, making me break out in a sweat despite my low tolerance for spiciness. The rich flavor paired well with the rice, prompting me to ask for a second serving. The thick soup, made with pork bone, had a unique taste that might not be for everyone. After finishing the meal with some pickles and cold tea, I left feeling pleasantly full. There are many dining options in the area, but I'll keep this place in mind for when I'm craving hearty Chinese food.

Visited the restaurant with my daughter for dinner. We had a variety of dishes! Garlic cucumber salad, five-ingredient soba, beef tripe and leek dish, dumplings, and shrimp mayo. The cucumber with garlic was simple and delicious with a nice kick of garlic! For the five-ingredient soba, my daughters were in charge of the noodles, and I was in charge of the toppings, we enjoyed it with vinegar. Personally, I was happy to see lots of kuwai in it. The beef tripe and leek dish was a bit difficult for me to eat, maybe a smaller size portion for solo diners would be better haha. The dumplings were huge! Don't underestimate them, they were packed with filling and very tasty. The kids loved the shrimp mayo. The shrimp was large and delicious. I felt it was a good value for the quality. We wanted to have dessert but they all required reservations, so my daughter kindly shared a bite of almond jelly with me. Thank you. This place is great for dining alone, having a set meal alone, dining with family, or even for parties. It's a versatile restaurant and I would like to include it in my routine along with the nearby Shin-ki. I will visit again.

The Chinese chain restaurants in Tokyo and Saitama have stopped distributing free extra-large portions coupons since May. Although understandable given the current situation, the price for extra-large ramen has increased to nearly 500 yen, up from the previous 400 yen. While still affordable, it makes me want to opt for a proper Chinese set meal instead. With a desire to have lunch prices for dinner, I visited a Chinese restaurant on Shinjuku Street today. Despite the appearance of a legitimate Chinese restaurant, the menu displayed a 950 yen set meal offer. Inside, groups of customers were enjoying Chinese cuisine with beer and cocktails. When I inquired about the set meal, the staff provided a separate menu. Choosing mapo tofu as the main dish, I added another dish, the eight treasure vegetable dish. The set meal came with rice, soup, and pickled vegetables. The mapo tofu was mildly spicy and delicious, while the eight treasure vegetable dish had a subtle salty flavor with a good variety of ingredients. The menu on the wall also offered a 980 yen evening drinking set, which included alcohol, appetizers, and individual Chinese dishes. Although rice was not listed as an option, adding fried rice or noodles for an additional cost would make for a satisfying dinner and beer set. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

I visited a Chinese restaurant that opened in January this year in Yotsuya Sancho-me for the second time. The location is a 2-minute walk from Yotsuya Sancho-me Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, and a 10-minute walk from Yotsuya Station on the JR Chuo Line, Sobu Line, Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, and Namboku Line. The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 21:00. There are about 20 table seats. The restaurant used to be an izakaya-style Chinese restaurant called "Juraku" that used to be open until around 3 or 4 in the morning, and I used to frequent the place. This new restaurant is a bit more authentic and all the menu items are a bit on the pricier side. I ordered the full set menu for dinner, which includes Stir-fried leeks and pork, Oil-drizzled chicken, Stir-fried pork, wood ear mushrooms, and eggs, Mapo tofu, and 5 dumplings. I chose the Oil-drizzled chicken and 5 dumplings. I also ordered a special Black Vinegar Sweet and Sour Pork as an extra. Overall, the dumplings were quite delicious, similar to the ones at Gyoza no Ohsho. The Oil-drizzled chicken had a slightly crispy coating, and the Black Vinegar Sweet and Sour Pork had a rich flavor. I will visit again to try their noodle dishes next time.

I visited a newly opened affordable authentic Chinese restaurant in Yotsuya Sanchome on January 13th. The restaurant, called Kai Ken, took over the location where a local Chinese restaurant called Juraku used to be. It is located a 2-minute walk from Yotsuya Sanchome Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, and a 10-minute walk from Yotsuya Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, Namboku Line, JR Chuo Line, and Sobu Line. The restaurant used to be a political party office for about 8 months after Juraku closed down a year ago. The opening promotion offered all lunch dishes for 100 yen during the first 7 days from January 13th to January 19th. When I visited for lunch on January 18th around 12:30 pm, the restaurant was almost full, but I managed to get a table near the entrance. The menu had handwritten options like chicken and vegetable black miso stir-fry, leek and shrimp omelet, and green pepper shredded pork, each priced at 850 yen. The lunch sets included pickled vegetables, rice, soup, and almond tofu. There were also noodle set menus available for 1,000 yen, with options like Shanghai pickled vegetable noodles, five-ingredient tanmen, Sichuan dan dan noodles, char siu noodles, mala noodles, beef noodles, mapo tofu noodles, and sanla noodles. I ordered the chicken and vegetable black miso stir-fry, which was delicious and well worth the price. The dish had a generous amount of chicken and vegetables, and the black miso sauce was flavorful. The side dishes like the dumplings and almond tofu were also tasty. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Kai Ken and would consider visiting again if it was closer to my home.

Local Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. I reserved a seat on Saturday night and enjoyed dishes such as fried eggplant with sansho pepper, steamed pork dumplings with preserved egg, tantan noodles, and yakisoba with thick sauce. The prices, taste, and portion sizes were all good, making it a place where you can enjoy a delicious meal.

Stir-fried pork with green peppers set meal for 800 yen (tax included) My price: 920 yen. It comes with stir-fried pork with green peppers, rice, soup, almond jelly, and pickled vegetables. Rice can be refilled for free once. Many customers were eating knife-cut noodles. There was a mix of customers, so there didn't seem to be any regulars. The stir-fried pork with green peppers was decently delicious. I'm satisfied with this amount for 800 yen.

Upon entering this franchise-like establishment with a uniform taste that seems to be present in various locations, I was immediately greeted by a Chinese staff member, which was overwhelming and made me reflect on my shallow assumptions. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the menu consisted of items that were different from the typical street Chinese or franchise menu, featuring more original Chinese dishes. Even the Wok Tanmen I ordered had noodles that were slightly different from the typical Japanese style. It seems that this restaurant offers a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine, more akin to ethnic dishes from China.

Menma, vegetables, soup, noodles, and rice, everything was so bad that it takes a lack of talent to make it this bad. I've never left food uneaten no matter how bad it was, but this time I left over half. Still, I managed to eat by pouring soy sauce over the fried rice and ramen. I miss the ramen from Joraku, the restaurant that used to be here and has now closed.

The former restaurant, Jyuraku, which was sadly closed, has now become a new Chinese restaurant for a political party's election office. They offer set meals in the evenings, where you can choose two main dishes for 950 yen. You can also add a beer for 250 yen, served in a proper beer mug. The mains are very generous with lots of ingredients. The experience exceeded my expectations. It is currently not crowded, but like Jyuraku, it may become a popular late-night spot. I highly recommend the Beef with Black Pepper Sauce.
