On Tuesday, August 22nd, I received a call from a senior colleague who retired this spring, and we decided to meet up in Kanda for drinks. I invited a couple of friends, and the three of us went to a sushi izakaya called Susumu near Kanda Station. It had been about 10 years since my last visit, and I had forgotten how affordable the drinks were at this place. A draft beer was only 210 yen including tax, and a double highball was also 260 yen, which was a great deal. We ordered the following items:
- 4 rolls of thin sushi rolls for 1,140 yen including tax
- Additional orders of 3 rolls of thin sushi rolls for 850 yen including tax (toppings: green onion and toro, plum and shiso, natto)
- Fish & Chips for 650 yen including tax (a good snack with the highball)
- Nachos for 390 yen including tax (turned out to be tortilla chips)
- Stingray fins for 560 yen including tax (small and not very satisfying)
- Edamame for 430 yen including tax
- Grated Japanese yam with wasabi for 480 yen including tax (crunchy texture with a dashi flavor)
As for drinks:
- Draft beer for 210 yen including tax
- Double highball for 260 yen including tax (Dewar's single was 210 yen, double was 260 yen plus 50 yen)
We had about 5-6 drinks each, and the highball doubles were especially a great deal with Dewar's at this price. It's definitely worth a visit just for the drinks.

Meeting with my cousin for a New Year's greeting and drinks. I thought we would meet in Yaesu since he works there, but he wanted a place where he can smoke. So, we ended up here. It's been about 3 years since I last saw my cousin... or maybe even longer. With COVID, it's been difficult to visit relatives' homes. But meeting my cousin and talking about things from 30 years ago like it was just yesterday was really enjoyable. The beer was only 290 yen, the food was cheap and quick. Setting aside the taste, I think a restaurant where you can smoke is quite rare. The food served as good snacks for the drinks. Ordering was done through a touch panel, and the staff was efficient and the atmosphere was nice.

The appearance looks like a high-end restaurant at first glance, but once you enter, it's just a regular izakaya. It's not as cheap as it used to be, and the menu has been reduced quite a bit, but it's not a main spot for me so it's not a problem. I stopped by for a quick drink.
- Two large and strong highball drinks (forgot the name)
- Assorted thin sushi rolls: You can choose 3 out of 7 varieties. Wasabi roll is a must. It's quite spicy and makes you sweat, but it's addictive.
- Tomatoes: I wanted some snacks even though I was already full. Don't expect much hospitality at this place. It's recommended only when you want to drink cheaply. However, it wasn't as cheap as before.

In Kanda, I went for the first time to a sushi izakaya series that can be found in various locations in Tokyo. They offer beer for around 200 yen each, which is great for a quick drink. I ordered a sashimi platter, rolls, and fried potatoes at the Takahashi location. I just ordered casually and ended up spending less than 3000 yen even after getting a bit drunk. It's a great place for salarymen. Thank you for the meal.

I entered the nearby "Sushi Izakaya Susumu" for a second round after dining at Yakitori Ise. I wasn't strong in alcohol and it had been a while since I had a second round, so I don't remember much of the conversation. We had rolled sushi and potato fries, which are difficult to find in fast food chains. I don't remember it being particularly delicious, but when I checked on Tabelog later, the reviews were surprisingly good.

I went to a well-known izakaya in Kanda that I used to frequent in the past. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the food. It is a large izakaya with around 200 seats, known as a sushi izakaya and offers reasonably priced dishes. I tried their wasabi roll and felt the familiar sharpness. It's rare to find izakayas that allow smoking these days, but it added to the nostalgic atmosphere. It was a nice experience after a long time. Thank you for the meal.

This is a budget izakaya located in a back alley of Kajicho. Tucked away between Kakuchi Kanda and TAP×TAP Kanda, there is a quaint restaurant that resembles a traditional Japanese inn. They have signs advertising highballs for 150 yen and draft beer for 180 yen, which will surely bring a smile to your face. This place is part of the Iida Group, known for their cheap drink izakaya chain with locations like Mikami in Asakusabashi, Midori in Meguro, and Botan in Gotanda. I visited this place alone on a weekday after 8 pm. The first floor has tables lined up all the way to the back, with additional seating on the second and third floors. As soon as you sit down, you are served with a wet towel and a serving of appetizer (380 yen), which in this case was spicy marinated bamboo shoots. You can place your order using a touch panel. I started with a draft beer (180 yen), which was a Sapporo Black Label in a medium-sized glass. I quickly finished that and ordered a highball (150 yen) for my refill. Perhaps due to the impact of COVID-19, this sushi izakaya does not offer sushi. Instead, I tried the nachos (360 yen) which were cheaper than edamame (410 yen). Unfortunately, the tortilla chips were a bit soggy, so I wasn't too impressed with that. After a quick drink, my total bill came to 1,070 yen.

Sushi Izakaya Susumu @ Kanda - Up the stairs to a cozy table seat. The atmosphere is very homey! The storage for bags is a shelf hanging from the ceiling, just like at Mikami in Asakusa. I wonder if they are related? As it was our second stop, we started with a highball and had a few sushi dishes, even though we weren't planning on eating much. We also had some fried food and finished off with pizza. The prices are very reasonable! Could it be that this is a sister restaurant to Mikami? (lol)

Located a little off the main street where izakayas line up in Kanda. It's relatively easy to spot among the group of stores. When I visited after a long time, I found out that draft beer was reduced to 180 yen. And surprisingly, sours and highballs are only 150 yen! (Please note that on Fridays and the day before public holidays, everything is 290 yen) The brand is the reliable Sapporo Black Label. The food is pretty much the same as other affiliated stores. It's a great place to just drink beer endlessly! ★ "Yamato", "Take-chan", "Matsu-chan", "Nakanishi", "Kon" ... I went with two colleagues from the company. Originally, my husband recommended it, and I was half in doubt about the all-you-can-eat and drink option, but my goodness, what a great deal! The food was decently delicious, and it was totally worth it! As someone who loves alcohol, it's also wallet-friendly. I will definitely go again!

I was led here by an acquaintance! This place offers highballs for 120 yen and draft beer for 180 yen, which is very cheap. There is another store in the same chain with similarly low prices, but it's hard to find because each store has a different name. One distinctive feature is the shelf for placing bags on the tables. I often visit a store called Mikami in Asakusabashi. The food is reasonably priced and quite delicious! A truly grateful restaurant.

First visit! All-you-can-eat and drink at a super cheap izakaya!! This place seems to be a branch of the Roppongi restaurant "Matsucchan" that I used to frequent. Reservations are apparently only available for the all-you-can-eat and drink course, with a time limit of 2 hours. Since I had another appointment coming up, I opted for this course. It was a nostalgic gathering, and we ended up feeling really stuffed. All-you-can-eat is tough in your 40s.

Went to this restaurant with my subordinates for a summer get-together. We had reserved a course for a little over 3,000 yen with all-you-can-eat and drink. Since the group was young, we prioritized price over taste when choosing the restaurant. Despite the traditional exterior, the interior turned out to be a typical chain izakaya. We ordered using a touch panel. The appetizer that came out was sushi in a wooden bucket. I tried the tuna, sea bream, and negitoro, and surprisingly, the freshness was not bad. The sashimi that followed was also decent. I ordered the minced raw horse mackerel, which was also good. It could easily be served at a slightly higher-end izakaya for around 7,000 to 8,000 yen. The young people in the group ordered a variety of dishes like potato, yakitori, hormone, and takoyaki, which were at the level you would expect from a chain izakaya. We also ordered fatty tuna, which was absolutely delicious. It was the best cost performance of the summer.

The entrance is a bit hard to find, but the cost performance is amazing... The alcohol is cheap! Perfect for those who just want to drink beer. The main fish dishes are fresh and delicious! I thought it was just fish, but they also have yakitori and teppanyaki dishes.

The photo shows a person sitting alone, looking lonely. The price is incredibly cheap. The all-you-can-eat and drink option for 2,980 yen is amazing. You can order anything on the menu except for the recommended items of the week for this price. I went with a group of six men in their thirties, and we each paid around 2,000 yen to eat and drink as much as we wanted. It was unbelievably cheap. However, the taste was mediocre, as expected for the price. The only dishes that were still delicious were the pizza and the meat miso dumplings.

I know it's spicy, but I still ordered the wasabi roll and ended up crying again (laughs).

It looks expensive, but are you okay? There are voices of concern from your juniors... Don't worry! The black label beer in a jug is only 210 yen! Despite being very close to Kanda Station, you can enjoy it at an affordable price, despite the restaurant's impressive exterior.

It's been a while since I visited Susumu-san, and as usual, he couldn't resist the wasabi rolls. He loves the spiciness that clears his sinuses. He also enjoyed gulping down his sake. Susumu-san lived up to his name!

Gather at Kanda and head to the east exit with a cheer. The location is near the station but a bit hard to find, so a map is necessary. There is a 2-hour all-you-can-eat and drink option for around 3980 yen, but the individual prices are low so it's a bit of a mixed bag. The restaurant itself is a bit crowded, but the service is fast despite ordering from panels. The regulars recommend the Wasapi roll sushi. We forgot to ask why it's called "pi," but the intense Wasabi roll, almost like a punishment, is present on most tables. We ended up ordering it three times, so it's a good place to create some buzz.

I am very satisfied with the all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink option at the company's farewell party for 3,180 yen!
