Stylish counter at 'Oden'**** It has been cloudy and rainy for a week, and on this day, it was raining heavily from the morning. I asked Beatrice to stay home and went to Ebisu Garden Place Tower for the first time in a while. After parking in the underground lot and passing by the Prime Rib restaurant 'Lawry's,' I went up to the 1st floor where a new Meijiya store had opened. I took the Tower elevator to the Tower's restaurant, which I hadn't visited since Sushi Taka last year. Just like last time, there were no large flower arrangements I loved in the elevator halls on the 1st, 38th, and 39th floors, just small tables with hand sanitizer spray bottles. Apart from Rookies, which was closed for the day, other restaurants like Longrain, Rotisserie Blue, Torikoh, and Senbou were open, but the number of people was significantly reduced. I saw Chef Ozono from Ebisu ES and Chef Botchano, who was a judge in a pizza contest on Job Choon, had opened a new restaurant, but I opted for warm oden due to the cold weather. We ordered the chef's selection assortment (12 items ¥4200), along with side dishes such as sand lance (¥850) and bonito (¥1200), avocado olive grill (¥850), warm green tea (¥530), and Junmai Ginjo Sairai sake (¥1300). The sand lance was a delight, and the bonito with spring onions and new onions was delicious. The avocado olive grill had whitebait under the cheese! By 7:30 pm, people in business suits started to leave the private room, and a couple took their place at the counter. The chef was busy making boiled cabbage with salted kelp (¥750). The oden was served in two rounds, with daikon, grilled tofu, and thick fried tofu in the first round. The second round included sea bream dumplings, Satsuma-age, and hanpen, which were exquisite. The boiled egg was overcooked, and the lack of knotted kelp was disappointing, but the hanpen made up for it. For the meal, we had shredded dried baby sardines and sansho pepper rice (¥550), sea urchin miso grilled rice ball (¥650), sea bream tea pickles (¥850), and clam and myoga mixed rice (¥850). The sea bream tea pickles with vinegar miso on top were thickly cut and delicious. I felt a bit lonely as I couldn't see the female staff in their white kimono-like outfits, but hopefully, things will return to normal soon. I checked out when the chef was preparing the octopus and cucumber in Tosazu vinegar (¥700). Enjoy your time, everyone. From the Sky Lounge, the lower half of the Tokyo Tower lit up and the night view of the Rainbow Bridge! Seeing the unchanged night view of Tokyo from the past, I felt reassured and made my way home.
