In Asakusa's Nakamise Street, there are many similar shops. I wanted to try ningyoyaki, so I bought some at "Sanhodo"! You can buy one for 100 yen. It was freshly baked and the dough was fluffy. It was delicious, so I also bought a pack of 10 for souvenirs!

Doll-shaped cake for ¥100. I had never tried Asakusa's doll-shaped cakes before. I was in the mood to try them, so I bought one. It was really delicious! It was lighter than I had imagined, and I could easily eat multiple pieces (lol). *No waiting or lining up around 6 pm on a weekday. Payment method: cash. Thank you for the meal!

The last stop on my Asakusa tour was Sanhato's ningyoyaki (doll-shaped cake). I wanted to have one last ningyoyaki before leaving, so I stopped by their shop. I appreciated that they sold them individually. I asked for one and handed over 100 yen, and the kind shop owner gave me an extra one for free. How kind... (T_T) I felt the warmth of their generosity. The freshly made ningyoyaki was hot and fluffy, and the sweet red bean paste inside was hot and soft. I ate one on the spot and saved the other for later. The dough was soft and comforting, just like the sweet bean paste. It was a delicious and lovely shop, so I give it 4 stars. (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

After a long time, I visited Sensoji Temple in Asakusa in the morning. At 9 am, I compared and tried the ningyo-yaki (sweet red bean-filled cakes) from "Ganso Kimuraya Ningyo-yaki Honpo" and "Sanhato" which were open early in the morning on Nakamise Street. Ganso Kimuraya Ningyo-yaki Honpo had cakes that were most likely made yesterday with a shelf life of 6 days, while Sanhato had freshly baked cakes with a shelf life of 2 days (there were also longer shelf life options at Sanhato). The cakes from Ganso Kimuraya Ningyo-yaki Honpo were packed in plastic bags. The skin was hard and the sweetness was strong. The molds were realistic. 8 cakes for 600 yen. Sanhato's cakes were soft and fluffy with a more subtle sweetness, probably due to being freshly baked. They were individually wrapped carefully. The shapes were cuter and more deformed compared to Kimuraya. 10 cakes for 500 yen. While the conditions were different, personally I preferred the taste and price of Sanhato. It's fun to compare and try them out!

[Date] August 26, 2022 (Friday) 11:55 AM [Food Rating] 3.27 [Waiting Time] None [Service] Excellent [Will Visit Again] Yes [Payment Method] Cash The freshly baked manju at this place is reasonably priced, although the difference in taste is hard to distinguish. Some places charge surprisingly high prices, but the manju here costs only 100 yen each. The generous uncle who kindly offers a sample for tasting makes you wonder how much it actually costs to make them! The freshly baked manju can only be enjoyed outside the store! It has the typical taste of red bean paste, which is perfect for a quick snack. The freshly baked ones can be kept for about 3 days, while the souvenir packs can last for about a month.

The sweetness is just right and melts in your mouth. The anko filling is nicely sweet and goes well with the dough. There are various shapes, and the dorayaki is cute to look at. I tried the one in the shape of a dove, and overall, I am satisfied with the taste and price. ^_^

☆Mrs. and I went on a casual lunch trip to Asakusa, Tokyo! We didn't have much time, but she really wanted to see the big lanterns in Asakusa, so we arrived at 7 in the morning! We took some photos and did some exploring, and before we knew it, a shop had opened up. They offered us a treat, so we tried one and it was delicious! We told them we would come back later and continued our sightseeing adventure! Nearby, there was a coin parking lot where we could park for 100 yen per hour until 8 in the morning, which was very convenient. For our order, we got "Manju (lantern, dove, pagoda)" for 500 yen for a pack of 10. Each piece was 100 yen. The Manju was a sponge cake filled with sweet bean paste, but it had a hint of chocolate flavor even though there was no chocolate in it. It was lightly sweet and so tasty that we could have eaten many more. We also got a pack of 5 for 300 yen, which was great for a small souvenir. They also had "Rai Okoshi" and "Nanking Bean Okoshi" available! Thank you for always liking, saving the shop, and following us. Feel free to leave comments, questions, or anything else you'd like to share. We appreciate your continued support.

☆Mrs. and I went on a lunch trip to Asakusa in Tokyo! ⇒ When it comes to Asakusa, "Raiden Okoshi" is a must-try! Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Osaka's okoshi, but how about Tokyo's okoshi? Let's order! * "Raiden Okoshi (5 varieties)" 300 yen (tax included) ... 3.5: The 4 varieties are "Normal, Nori, Shiso, Sesame, Black Sugar." Each has a subtle hint of its own flavor while maintaining the basic taste. Unlike Osaka's "Iwa Okoshi" and "Awakoshi," it's not as hard as steel, but has a nice moderate hardness. * "Limited Edition Nankin Neji" 400 yen ... 3.6: This one has a stronger sweet taste, with plenty of peanuts. As a peanut lover, I prefer this one. The texture of the persimmon seeds is also good! Conclusion: A comforting taste that has been around for a long time! Reasonable price and size! Perfect for souvenirs! ♪ Thank you very much for always liking, saving the restaurant, and following. I would be happy to receive comments and questions. Thank you all for your continued support.

This is a shop selling ningyo-yaki (small, doll-shaped cakes) near Senso-ji Temple. They offer two types of souvenirs: freshly baked cakes in paper bags and vacuum-packed cakes. For souvenirs, they have red bean paste and chunky red bean paste fillings. I bought a souvenir pack with red bean paste filling as they had plenty in stock. They had three shapes available: a dove, a lantern from Kaminarimon Gate, and a shape resembling a cedar tree, which turned out to be a five-story pagoda. The cakes had a fluffy castella cake exterior with a deliciously sweet red bean paste filling.

This is a shop on Nakamise Street near Senso-ji Temple. I stopped by here on my way back from viewing the cherry blossoms at Senso-ji Temple. I bought 10 pieces of ningyo-yaki for 500 yen. Compared to other ningyo-yaki I've had before, the castella part was thicker and the anko filling was delicious. The photo of cherry blossoms is of the weeping cherry tree in front of the Hozomon Gate.

I was looking for a place to eat ningyoyaki and found a shop. They offered me a sample by opening a bag of the product on display and splitting it in half. It was a pleasant surprise as I was just looking for a place to try it. I bought one for 100 yen, and it was filled with sweet red bean paste and delicious. The shop had a wonderful smell as they were continuously baking in the back. When I tried to take a picture of the shop, they kindly suggested a better angle for the photo!

I visited during lunchtime on a regular day. I had plans to work in Asakusa, and when I mentioned it to my colleagues, they asked me to bring back ningyo-yaki, a type of Japanese snack, for them. So, I visited one of the many ningyo-yaki shops along the Nakamise Street in Asakusa and got a Time Service deal of 2 pieces for 100 yen including tax. My friend and I each had one piece. It had been a while since I last had ningyo-yaki, and although it wasn't piping hot, it was warm and delicious. The sweet red bean paste was moist and warm, and it paired well with the sponge-like outer cake. There are many different types of ningyo-yaki in Asakusa, so it would be fun to try different kinds while walking around. Thank you for the meal!

I couldn't resist the temptation. I initially passed by, but I was lured back by the sweet smell. That kind of scent from sweets is unfair, isn't it? And when they say it's freshly baked, it's even more tempting. Plus, they offer you to try one for free. I ended up buying some. I personally like sweet bean paste, but it was delicious because it was warm. When you're in a tourist area, it's inevitable to indulge in food tasting, right?

On this day, I visited the Asakusa area. I hadn't really explored the Asakusa area before because there were just too many "must-visit" shops. I checked and found that I had over 80 shops registered as "must-visit" in the Asakusa area. Wow. I really need to start clearing them out little by little. So, I headed to Asakusa Sensoji Temple and Nakamise Street. Asakusa has many interesting streets, but the main one is Nakamise Street leading from the Kaminarimon Gate to Sensoji Temple. There are a lot of shops lined up along the street, but since it was still early in the morning around 8:00, not many shops were open yet, and the foot traffic was sparse. In the midst of this shopping street, there was a shop open early in the morning called "Sanhato." They sell ningyo-yaki (doll-shaped cakes) and rai-okoshi (peanut snacks), which are typical of Asakusa. It's a simple shop set up like a street stall, but they were baking ningyo-yaki in the back. They sell individual ningyo-yaki, and when they are freshly baked, they are warm and delicious. They also offer samples, which is nice. I bought a pack of 10 ningyo-yaki with red bean paste filling. The shapes were a bell and a chick, but one of them was hard to identify. The texture was soft and light, with a mild sweetness to the red bean paste. They were small, so I kept eating one after another. I also bought a limited edition rai-okoshi called "Nanjing Screw," which is only sold here. They come in a pack of 8 individually wrapped sticks with a shape resembling a tile. They were not too crunchy, and the peanut bits added a nice texture. Later, when I looked at the photos of the ningyo-yaki, I realized one of them had the Kaminarimon Gate printed on it. My lack of attention to detail was evident once again. That's all for the review!

This is a shop located in the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa. I wanted to try one of their specialties, ningyoyaki (doll-shaped cakes), and found a shop where you can eat them individually. The shop is called Mihatodo. The ningyoyaki here are shaped like doves, which is quite unique. The shop staff were lively and friendly, which influenced my decision to purchase. I bought one ningyoyaki for 100 yen and ate it on the side of the street. When I held it, I felt a warm sensation. I had imagined ningyoyaki to be dry, but it was actually moist and soft, with a beautiful yellow castella cake exterior. The sweet red bean paste inside had a good balance of sweetness and a smooth texture. The size was about two bites for an adult male. This shop is perfect for enjoying ningyoyaki in Asakusa at a reasonable price. Thank you for the meal.

I visited around 8 pm on a regular day. It was the day of the Hoozuki Market, so they may have extended their opening hours. I had the Thunder Cake for 300 yen and two Ningyo-yaki for 100 yen each. The Thunder Cake had various flavors like plain, black sugar, and black sesame, so it was enjoyable without getting bored. It was bite-sized and easy to eat. Maybe because it was the rainy season, it got moist in 3 days after opening. It might be better to be careful about storage after opening. The Ningyo-yaki was moister than I expected, with plenty of filling, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When you come to Tokyo, you often see rice crackers called "Ikari Okoshi". In Osaka, there is a similar snack called "Iwa Okoshi". The "Ikari Okoshi" at this shop is not too sweet and easy to eat. It has a moist and crispy texture. It's not too hard, so it could be a good souvenir for elderly people. Nakamise Street, where you can try various snacks, is a nice place to visit despite being crowded with people.

This is a famous ningyo-yaki (Japanese cake) shop. The individual price is 100 yen, which seems to be only at this store. Other places sell them for around 500 yen for 5 pieces. During the morning time sale, you can get 2 for 100 yen, and they come with koshi-an (smooth red bean paste) inside. I prefer tsubu-an (chunky red bean paste), so I wish it was tsubu-an instead, haha.

This is my first time visiting Nakamise. I, a country bumpkin named Min, used to think that the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa and the Taishakuten Temple in Shibamata were the same place. This time, while in Nagoya, I told everyone that I wanted to eat the grass dumplings from Tora-san in Asakusa. When I came to Tokyo this time and told my friend Michiko about it, she said, "Tora-san is from Katsushika, so it's different." I didn't know... I had mistakenly believed they were the same. But I had a fun time chatting with Michiko, visiting the temple, drawing omikuji, and then exploring Nakamise. We decided to just do some shopping since we were going to have dinner later. Even though I had already bought souvenirs at Tokyo Disneyland and paid a high shipping fee, I ended up buying more! (laughs) I was lured in by a lively young man who gave me a sample at a ningyo-yaki shop. They actually bake them here. I was told that the vacuum-packed ones last longer, so I bought some. They were very affordable, after all (laughs). I found them to be sweeter than the sample I tried at that time, but they were delicious and brought back fun memories. They were soft and tasty. Thank you for the meal.

In Asakusa Nakamise, there are plenty of temptations, and luckily, Sanpudo offers individual dorayaki for sale. So, you can enjoy snacking while strolling around! If you don't need a large quantity, that's okay too! If you happen to pass by the store, you'll see a sign for a special offer: 2 for 100 yen, or 10 for 400 yen. It's a great deal, and they are freshly made and hot! Plus, if you buy the regular dorayaki, they will give you a bonus. The inside is moist and not too sweet, with red bean paste filling.
