A long-established restaurant specializing in kettle rice. This time, we decided to have some appetizers before our meal. The sashimi platter had two types of fresh and delicious shrimp and tuna. The grilled eel and eel kabayaki were both amazing. The tempura assortment included large shrimp tempura. Thank you for the feast.

The interior of the restaurant was spacious and very comfortable. There were plenty of tables, and the tatami seating was relaxing. Although it wasn't a traditional old-fashioned restaurant, ordering with a touch panel gave it a slight family restaurant vibe. However, the taste, portion size, and price were all very good. The kettle rice was delicious, but the eel on rice was the best. The distance between the staff and customers was also good.

I visited for lunch before going to Asakusa Public Hall. I ordered the Asagao set. It was a hot day, so I felt like having a drink, but I resisted and had a non-alcoholic beer instead! The five-ingredient rice dish was very delicious, especially the bamboo shoots. I enjoyed every bit of the dessert as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm, and sitting in the tatami room after a long time was nice.

In Asakusa, Taito-ku, for lunch, I went to a place known for its kama-meshi (rice cooked in an iron pot) called "Edotei". However, on that day, I felt like having eel as the weather was warm. There was no line outside the restaurant, so I decided to go in. There were a few customers paying at the register when I entered. I sat on a chair near the register to wait. Since the first floor was being cleaned, I was guided to the second floor after putting my shoes in locker number 22. A staff member accompanied me to a table in the tatami room on the second floor. The menu was available, but there was also a tablet with the eel dishes, including "Ume (¥3,500)", "Take (¥5,000)", and "Matsu (¥6,500)". I chose "Ume" which is one whole eel portion. The dish was served in about 10 minutes. It came with soup, pickles, and eel on top of rice. The eel was not particularly outstanding, and the rice was slightly soft. Both the eel and rice were not served hot. In hindsight, the kama-meshi might have been a better choice cost-wise. After finishing the meal, I went back to the first floor to pay. It took a while for a staff member to come to the register, but eventually, another customer rang the bell, and I was able to pay with a card. (Visit date: 3/25)

I visited after almost a year. Whenever I go, everything is delicious. The kamameshi is a must-try. I ate too much. I visited for lunch after a long time, and it was quite crowded with people returning. I will definitely visit again.

I went to a restaurant in Asakusa called "Edojo" (江戸定) and had their eel and rice cooked in a pot. It's a 7-minute walk from Asakusa Station. The eel and rice cooked in a pot was delicious, even though it's not a dish I'm familiar with. You can eat it as it is, then add condiments and finally pour some broth over it, similar to "hitsumabushi." The broth has a gentle flavor, so the condiments are the main focus. I also tried the Daimyo Kamameshi, which is a pot rice dish with shrimp and crab tempura, and it was also delicious. The restaurant is a long-established place since 1964, with a calm atmosphere. The regular Kamameshi is 3,500 yen, while the Daimyo Kamameshi is 2,400 yen, so it's a bit pricey. The regular Kamameshi is around 1,500 yen. I visited this restaurant for the first time by making a reservation on a regular night. It is close to Asakusa Station, but it felt like an area with few tourists. The shop has an old-fashioned charm, with a calm atmosphere and a courtyard inside the shop. It is recommended to take photos near the courtyard, haha. On this day, I ordered a la carte. The grilled chicken skewers were plump and tender, and the rice-stuffed miso with eggplant was also a recommended dish that goes well with alcohol. The specialty eel rice cooked in a pot was enjoyable in three ways: 1) as it is, 2) with condiments, and 3) with Nagasaki-style dried fish tea pickles. All three were delicious and enjoyable. Since it is cooked in a pot, it also has a nice burnt rice crust, which is a plus! The eel bowl uses domestic eel sourced from Tsukiji Market's eel specialty wholesaler, steamed and grilled with a sauce that has been passed down since the establishment. It was beautifully grilled and delicious as well. They also have a pot rice cooked with Asakusa's only chicken bone broth starting from 1500 yen, so I would like to try it next time. The staff at this traditional restaurant are extremely polite and attentive, making you feel almost guilty. The kama-meshi (kettle rice) is a great value at only 1500 yen for such a generous amount of shrimp! The rice is filled with shrimp, and the plump, juicy shrimp is irresistible. The refreshing taste of the shrimp and the savory broth-soaked rice go perfectly together, and the crispy texture and aroma of the burnt rice, along with the fluffy rice, are excellent! The eel kabayaki has a subtle sauce that allows the quality of the ingredients to shine. Although it may seem a bit small, it is surprisingly thick and filling! The clientele is mostly in their 30s, but the good value makes it a great choice for a relaxed date as well!

Located a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Station, this long-established eel restaurant is nestled in a shopping street. It has a traditional feel and provides a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy your meal. We started with some beer and grilled chicken skewers from the restaurant. The sweet and savory sauce paired perfectly with the fluffy chicken meat. After some chatting, our order arrived - eel rice bowl and eel on rice with pickled plum. The rice cooked in a pot had a delicious crispy texture, and the delicate eel on top was exquisite. We first enjoyed the dishes on their own, then tried them with the condiments. Lastly, we poured grilled fish broth over the remaining rice for a delightful tea rice porridge. The eel on rice with pickled plum was generously portioned with two large eel fillets. It was satisfying and delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, allowing us to savor a luxurious and peaceful dining experience!

Today is my second visit. Last time, it was empty due to the combination of the pandemic and a weekday, but today it's fully booked. The kama-meshi (rice cooked in an iron pot) is delicious no matter what you choose. We also ordered tempura, karaage, and they were all tasty. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch, so next time I think I'll try the oyster kama-meshi. This is a hidden gem of a delicious restaurant in Asakusa.

In the midst of the pandemic, it's understandable that shops are empty on weekdays. I've had kamameshi in Asakusa many times, but this was my first time trying this particular restaurant. As soon as I opened the lid, a wonderful aroma greeted me. The ingredients were of high quality, especially the shrimp and chicken. I've decided that this is the place to go for kamameshi in Asakusa.

I really wanted to eat eel so I decided to come to this restaurant. I drove here, but it was before the state of emergency was declared, so my partner said, "I'll drive so you can drink!" I'm grateful to my partner for that! I ordered a draft beer, but unfortunately they were sold out. I understand that they don't want to waste the keg by opening it when alcohol sales will be restricted starting tomorrow. I changed my order to bottled beer and it arrived quickly. I took a sip and it was so refreshing! While enjoying the appetizer, my main dish of eel rice bowl arrived. The aroma was irresistible! I devoured it so quickly that I forgot to sprinkle on the sansho pepper halfway through! It was delicious! I will definitely come back again!

I visited this restaurant after the one I originally planned to go to had already finished serving lunch by 2 pm. I had the following: - Kama Meshi (rice cooked in a small pot) x 2, around 3200 yen each It was a luxurious lunch on a Saturday afternoon, even though it wasn't for a celebration. The Kama Meshi I had was topped with salmon roe and crab, making it a top-notch dish. It was full of ingredients and had a delicious crispy layer on the bottom. The eel rice bowl was also reasonably priced. I think this is a great restaurant.

This shop in Asakusa serves delicious kamameshi and is a hidden gem. I highly recommend the chicken karaage as well. It's a quiet place, perfect for solo diners. They even gave us dessert as a service.
