Located in Yotsuya Kojimachi, the main store of "Keikacharo" has a website that reads "Charo", but it seems that "Keikacharo" is the correct pronunciation. The Akasaka-dori store is known for its lunch special of 800 yen, which is cheaper compared to the Tamachi Sanjo store's 900 yen lunch special, so I came here seeking affordability. As I entered the restaurant, I noticed a strong Chinese woman quickly seating customers during the peak lunch hour. I ordered the "Gomoku Tanmen" for 800 yen and sat at a shared table with other customers. The restaurant allows smoking, so I kept my mask on for safety. The food arrived after an 18-minute wait, and I was served a Cantonese-style noodle soup with a side of mini fried rice. The soup had a soy sauce base and was filled with shrimp, squid, pork, and vegetables, but unfortunately, it did not include quail eggs. The soup was not too sweet and had a refreshing soy sauce flavor. The carrots were a bit hard and seemed to be undercooked. The generous portions of ingredients made me quite full. The fried rice was warm and slightly salty. As the lunch rush subsided, more solo female diners started to arrive, taking advantage of the more relaxed atmosphere. I paid 800 yen in cash and left the restaurant feeling satisfied.

Mapo tofu medium spicy / ¥800 - Rice, soup, free refill once. Comes with a mini salad. I chose medium spicy because it's hot outside. The flavor is rich and the rice goes well with it. The silky texture is smooth and pleasant. The medium spicy level makes you sweat a bit and the balance is good without the Sichuan pepper being too overpowering. A rare find for Sunday lunch. Affordable prices, extensive menu, good value for money.

I visited the Chinese restaurant Kyoto Tea House on Akasaka Street, where I have enjoyed bento boxes a few times. I ordered the Cold Noodles with Drooling Chicken for 850 yen, which was recommended on a hot and humid day during the rainy season. The noodles came with fried rice and soup, and although refills were allowed before, due to rising costs, refills are now limited to one serving. The tangy cold noodles with spicy sauce, chicken, and cucumber were appetizing. I enjoyed the drooling chicken on top of the fried rice, creating a delicious dish. After finishing the noodles, I topped the leftover chicken on a refill of fried rice to make my own drooling chicken bowl, which I savored with a thick egg drop soup.

Visited alone around 1 pm on a regular day. The restaurant is small with steep stairs, so passing by others is not possible. I waited for the person who finished their meal first to go down before entering. The restaurant was almost full, but after 1 pm, it was less than half full. Many people were drinking from lunchtime, and smoking was allowed, making it lively. I was seated at a random table and ordered the shrimp and egg stir-fry set meal. The dishes were cleared and I waited for the food to arrive. The food came in about 5 minutes. The seasoning and the doneness of the eggs were to my liking. There were 4 shrimp in the dish. The price was reasonable for Akasaka, but I didn't quite feel comfortable in the bustling atmosphere, so I'm not sure if I would visit again. I paid with PayPay.

I went to a Korean restaurant but they didn't have a lunch menu on Sundays, so I ended up going to a reliable Chinese restaurant. The prices were mostly around ¥800 and they had a wide variety of options, which made me happy. I decided to try the eggplant and glass noodle hot pot. I love eggplant and glass noodles, so it was perfect for me. It was my first time trying this dish, and although it wasn't as spicy as hot pot, it had a mild spiciness and strong sweetness. You can also get a refill of rice soup. There were various customers on Sunday, including office workers, friends, and families. At first, I thought the portion might be too small, but it was just right. I wish they had given a bit more rice from the start. I would definitely come back here again!

Just a 2-3 minute walk from Tokyo Metro Akasaka Station, this Chinese restaurant is located on the 2nd floor at the intersection downhill from Sanno Shita. They have multiple branches in Tokyo, including one in Tameike-Sanno. During evening hours, they offer 2-hour all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat courses. I've been here for drinks with my younger colleagues, but this was my first time for lunch. Here are my two recent visits:
Visit times: Both visits were around noon on weekdays. The place was crowded with nearby office workers, but there are plenty of seats so we didn't have to wait long to be seated.
Order details:
- Mapo Chahan (¥880): I chose the highly recommended Mapo Chahan, which comes in various levels of spiciness. I opted for extra spicy. It was served in about 15 minutes and was quite generous in portion. It had a good amount of Mapo Tofu on top of the fried rice, and it was quite filling. It also came with a small bowl of tantanmen on the side, making it a carb-heavy meal.
- Chuka Don (¥880): On my second visit, I tried the vegetable-rich Chuka Don. It was loaded with bamboo shoots, Chinese cabbage, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, and more. The dish was topped with a rich oyster sauce and came with a side of mini tantanmen. It was a healthy and satisfying meal.
Overall, I found the lunch menu to be quite extensive and reasonably priced. The restaurant is popular among young people for its value-for-money all-you-can-eat and drink options in the evenings. While there are many renowned Chinese restaurants in the Akasaka area, this place is good for casual lunches. I plan to continue visiting regularly. Thank you for the meal.

We had an alcohol marathon at the first place, drinking all we could for 6 hours. Unlimited smoking as well. As the other customers left, the staff started to relax and even smoked with us, creating a sense of unity. We drank from glass cups, but I wish they had used ceramic ones. The xiaolongbao was delicious. After 6 hours of drinking, when we politely declined the offer to extend the drink-all-you-can, they were surprised and asked, "Are you leaving already?"

I always go for lunch, but today I visited for a night drink. The Belgium vs Morocco game was on TV and everyone was glued to it. I ordered: draft beer, sweet and sour pork, mapo tofu, chilled tofu, and highball. The sweet and sour pork I had for lunch was perfect with alcohol! I tried mapo tofu for the first time and it had a addictive spiciness. It's quite spicy, so be careful if you don't like spicy food. I wanted to try the mapo fried rice as well, but I was worried about the calories and if I could finish it, so I skipped it this time. I came alone this time, so I ordered a la carte, but if you order a course, it seems like you can eat all you want within a time limit. If I have the chance, I'd like to try a variety of dishes.

I visited this Chinese restaurant after a long time craving for a Chinese lunch. It was lunchtime and the place was bustling with office workers. The staff, especially the Chinese lady, was full of energy despite the busy atmosphere. I ordered the sweet and sour pork set meal for 800 yen (tax included), which is my favorite dish in Chinese cuisine. The flavor is rich and I couldn't stop eating the rice. You can have a free refill of rice up to one bowl, so it's really good value for money. I remember that the side dish used to be a salad instead of fruits, and personally, I prefer salad over fruits. The lunch menu is quite extensive, and I also highly recommend the mapo tofu fried rice. I didn't have it today, so I don't have a photo, but it comes with a mini tantanmen. I thoroughly enjoyed my long-awaited Chinese lunch. They also offer self-service coffee after the meal, but I usually refrain from it to help maintain the turnover rate in the restaurant.

The second floor of Ikinari Steak. The interior is relatively spacious. However, it's better to avoid peak hours here as well. There are many lunch options to choose from, which is enjoyable. The mapo tofu is not spicy, but has a rich and intense flavor. The soup is also relatively mild. Well, the service is so-so.

Akasaka has many Chinese restaurants, ranging from high-end to more affordable options. I visited "Kyoka Charyo Akasaka-dori" located just a 1-minute walk from Akasaka Station. The restaurant is on the second floor of a building that also houses Ikinari Steak. The entrance on the first floor is lively with signs and menus, giving off a reasonably priced vibe. The menu is extensive, making it hard to decide what to order.
I ordered a Highball for 380 yen, followed by the authentic Mapo Tofu for 1,180 yen, choosing the extra spicy option. It was spicy but not overwhelmingly so, making it a great appetizer. The Chinese Donburi for 850 yen had a rich flavor with a good balance of seafood and vegetables. The Dan Dan Noodles without soup for 850 yen were surprisingly mild in spiciness, with a good chewy texture.
The casual atmosphere and proximity to the station made it a convenient choice for a meal. However, I couldn't help but feel that the all-you-can-eat option might have been a better deal. I'll make sure to come back with a bigger appetite next time and opt for the all-you-can-eat plan.

I visited for lunch for the first time. The cost performance is great even during the day. If you want to eat Chinese food in Akasaka, I recommend this place. When I asked for the mapo tofu to be spicy, they made it spicy for me ♡ But I think the best is to come for the all-you-can-eat dinner time! Many all-you-can-eat Chinese food places don't have great quality, but this place is amazing. The shrimp mayo is crispy and fluffy and delicious... the seafood okoge too... Alright, I'll make a reservation again.

Blog ⇒ 【Riding on the Flowing Clouds♪】January 2, 2020. Visiting Toyokawa Inari Tokyo Betsuin... Located in Akasaka, the branch temple of Toyokawa Inari is next to the well-known "Akasaka Palace." Toyokawa Inari is famous as the god of the arts, and many celebrities visit to pray. The lanterns hanging in the main hall are adorned with the names of celebrities, such as actors like Katsunori Takahashi and Taao Tsuchiya. Other names like Matsuko Deluxe and Cream Stew were also there. The place was bustling, and it took over 30 minutes to reach the main hall due to the long line. Despite feeling a bit intimidated by the crowd, I couldn't come all this way and leave without praying, so I managed to complete my visit. However, going back a few hours earlier... I had lunch at a Sichuan restaurant called "Kyoka Charyo" along Akasaka Street. It was a special day being January 2nd, but the service was a bit... (I can't go into details but...) The dishes we had were all delicious, which made the disappointing service even more regrettable. The "Grilled Chicken with Green Onion Oil," "Authentic Mapo Tofu (extra spicy)," and "Braised Pork Belly Fried Rice" were all extremely tasty! The quick service of the dishes was also very helpful. However, I felt that the staff's manners could be a bit more polite. Although their energetic attitude was good, it was a bit messy (mystery) and it would have been nice to have aprons for the hot pot of "Authentic Mapo Tofu." Additionally, while I understand that they were operating on a special New Year schedule, I wish they had explained that there were no lunch menus available during lunch hours. Plus, it would have been helpful to know that cards were not accepted for the regular menu items. Unfortunately, I saw some negative aspects of continental dining that I haven't seen in a while. Located in Akasaka, this budget Chinese restaurant offers a uniform menu with a choice of fried rice for 700 yen with free refills. The main dishes are Shanghai and Szechuan cuisine. They also offer set meals for 800 yen with free rice and soup refills. I tried the hot and sour tanmen, which was 700 yen with fried rice. The sourness of the dish was very good, and the right amount of spiciness added to the deliciousness. While the service and attention to detail may be lacking overall, considering the location and price, there is nothing to complain about.

I felt like drinking during the day on 10/24. Probably because of the early mornings and heavy drinking the day before. I walked almost from Nogizaka to Akasaka. I also browsed through a supermarket. I wondered what ingredients are in season at this time of year. Then I thought about going to Saizeriya, but ended up deciding to try a new restaurant I had never been to before. It was a Chinese restaurant on the second floor. I asked if I could order alcohol while seated, and they said yes. Decision made.
☆Drinks: Draft beer, Oolong High
The alcohol menu wasn't on the table, so I ordered what seemed like a popular drink.
☆Food: Shrimp chili set meal
It seemed like they only had lunch menu options at this time. I had no problem with that, as I had planned on it. The lunch menu was divided into two price levels, and I went for the cheaper option, which included the shrimp chili set meal. The set meal came with a lettuce salad, corn soup, and unlimited pickled vegetables on the table. Under the shrimp chili, there were vegetables like lettuce and carrots. The shrimp were not too small or too big, maybe a type of prawn larger than banamei. The seasoning was sweet and sour, with a generous amount of sauce that I mixed with the rice.

During the New Year holiday, there weren't many shops open on Akasaka Street, and there were long lines outside. I wasn't in the mood for Ikinari Steak, so I decided to go upstairs to this place. Normally, they have various lunch sets with high value for money, but during the New Year period, they only had a limited menu. I ordered the Gomoku Tanmen for 850 yen, which looked like it would warm me up. It arrived in about five minutes. The Gomoku Tanmen was topped with shrimp, squid, pork, Chinese cabbage, komatsuna, carrots, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, and wood ear mushrooms, all in a chicken broth with thick soy sauce flavor. The thick noodles absorbed the soup well, and the combination of soup and ingredients was excellent. As a casual Chinese restaurant, it was very satisfying. I'm glad they were open!

I saw a sign outside the restaurant advertising draft beer for 399 yen and dishes ranging from 199 to 499 yen, so I decided to go in. Unfortunately, the staff was having their mealtime break, but they still greeted me and provided me with a menu. However, most of the items on the menu were priced above 500 yen, which was a bit disappointing. When I asked about the advertised beer set, they gave me a special menu. We ordered the beer set for 1280 yen, which included two appetizers from sets A and B. We chose century egg tofu and bang bang chicken from set A, and mapo tofu and fried rice from set B. The portions were smaller than expected, but the mapo tofu was authentic and had just the right amount of spiciness. The fried rice had a unique, slightly rich flavor that I enjoyed. We only ordered additional drinks after that and then headed to a nearby sushi restaurant for more food. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Blog: Hangover Meal at Kyoto Chinese Tea House Instagram Akasaka Store
Located close to Akasaka Station, just past TBS towards Hie Shrine, you'll find a Chinese restaurant on the second floor of a building that is open even on weekends. "Kyoto Chinese Tea House" is a popular spot, especially on days off when there are few places to drink during the day.
The entrance is typical of a Chinese restaurant, with a wide array of menu items displayed. And the best part? Everything is priced at 700 yen!
I decided to try their affordable set meal, as I had never tried it before. The restaurant was bustling, with groups of people drinking at large tables even during lunchtime. I noticed a few foreign travelers as well, with some speaking in English.
The lunch menu includes dishes like Shrimp and Egg Stir-fry, Mapo Tofu, Chicken and Cashew Nut Stir-fry, and more, all priced at 700 yen each. I ended up choosing the Leek and Liver Stir-fry, which arrived fairly quickly.
The dish had a unique flavor, with a noticeable spiciness that differed from the usual Leek and Liver Stir-fry. It was delicious and went well with the rice and soup that came with the set.
Overall, the restaurant offers a variety of dishes at affordable prices, with a casual and welcoming atmosphere. If you ever find yourself exploring the area and craving Chinese food, I recommend giving Kyoto Chinese Tea House a try!

I made a mistake with my order and ended up ordering something too spicy that I couldn't eat. It was a waste of money and time, and on top of that, it made me feel sick.
