Exploring Tokyo gourmet! Shinagawa Ward, Musashi-Koyama edition. A must-visit hidden gem, highly acclaimed yakiniku restaurant "Wada" is a popular, long-standing establishment known for its delicious yet affordable grilled meat. Despite the strict no-photo policy and refusal of interviews, I revisited this eagerly anticipated spot with my industry gourmet friends for our regular yakiniku gathering in Musashi-Koyama. Located off the arcade shopping street near Musashi-Koyama Station, just before the Musashi-Koyama Onsen "Shimizu-yu," the white neon sign marks this hidden gem run by a stubborn artisan father and a strict proprietress. This is a yakiniku battleground where exceptional customer service is not expected. However, if you abide by the rules of the restaurant, a blissful dining experience awaits. A must-visit for yakiniku enthusiasts, this renowned and popular spot requires reservations in advance. Limited reservations, limited meat options, and menu items that can only be ordered at the time of reservation, with no additional orders allowed. Nevertheless, you can enjoy the finest cuts of beef such as loin, harami, premium tongue with salt, and top-quality skirt steak, which attract yakiniku lovers from afar. I, too, have developed a habit of frequenting this hidden gem of a yakiniku restaurant, known for its exceptional grilled meat at reasonable prices - the long-standing popular establishment, Yakiniku "Wada." Upon my long-awaited return, I indulged in a delightful assortment of kimchi, cabbage, oi kimchi, and kakuteki, each perfectly pickled with a delightful balance of spiciness and umami. The premium tongue with salt, grilled to medium-rare perfection, offered a tender and crispy texture with an incredibly delicious taste. The seared raw liver, lightly grilled to a rare consistency, melted in the mouth with a delicate and exquisite flavor. The special harami, ordered in advance, was expertly grilled to a crispy finish, showcasing a fragrant and juicy interior that was incredibly delicious. The top skirt steak, also pre-ordered, boasted a perfect balance of marbling, offering a moist and tender texture that was incredibly delicious. When wrapped in rice, the umami flavor intensified, making it even more delicious. The tegutan soup, ordered in advance, was flavorful, rich, and slightly spicy, offering an addictive and incredibly delicious taste. A must-try dish that will leave you craving for more! This yakiniku experience is truly exceptional and irresistibly delicious!

I visited this restaurant for the first time after being invited by my gourmet friends. I was surprised to see many rules when I checked on Tabelog as my friend suggested, saying "the rules are strict so study them in advance!" There is a rule that shorts are not allowed for men, and one of the guys in our group had to hurriedly go buy pants at a nearby clothing store, which was a funny incident. The rules are indeed real. I recommend studying them a few times before visiting. Even if you order alcohol, the owner's father might refuse by saying "it doesn't go well with our meat." However, I now understand why this place is so popular with a monthly reservation waitlist. The taste and cost performance are top-notch! The reason why photos are not allowed is to avoid increasing the already long lines and popularity. The tongue is delicious, but the liver, loin, skirt, and rumen were all incredibly tasty! As long as you follow the rules, you can enjoy delicious food. Each person had three drinks and ate a lot of meat at the end, similar to a food fight, and it only cost 8,500 yen per person. It's a shame we couldn't take photos, but the amount and quality of meat were likely to cost around 20,000 yen at a regular yakiniku restaurant! The mother is friendly and thoughtful. I would love to go back if I can secure a reservation slot again!

Next to Shimizu-yu, climb up the ladder. I heard that the rules are strict and there are various rules, so I was prepared, but it wasn't as strict as I thought. They kindly told me that photos are not allowed. We had a kimchi assortment, bean sprout namul, tantan salted liver, harami x2, loin, cold noodles, and 3 bottles of beer for three people, and we were all full. I like rice, so the medium portion was just right. Overall, the flavors were a bit junky, but the beer and rice went well together! The thickness of the meat was just right and tender and delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nostalgic, making me feel like I was back at my parents' house (laughs). Reservations are apparently made by going directly to the restaurant on the first of every month. I would like to go again if I have the chance!

It was delicious! I now understand why this place is so popular. The attention to detail in each dish really comes through. It's on a different level compared to your average yakiniku restaurant. Even though the owner is strict, I still want to go back. This is a place I would choose to visit on a day when I want to enjoy yakiniku.

<Usage> 8 people. This restaurant is run by a famous couple known for their good value tatami room reservations. Finally got to go to this long-awaited yakiniku place! They are known for having many rules, but the rules below seem reasonable for the comfort of other customers. No shorts allowed - to prevent sweat from getting on the tatami mats or cushions. Don't put your hands on the table - to avoid bothering others with unclean hands. Put your chopsticks back in the chopstick holder when you're done eating - to make it easier for the staff. Don't wipe the table with the wet towel - to keep the towels clean for others. No photos allowed - enjoy the taste instead. <Ordered Items> Kimchi (3 types), mentaiko, kombu, and jjajang - reservation required. Tongue, salted with green onions. Mino, salted, cut in a net pattern - super tender! Grilled liver with sesame oil. Harami and sagari, salted. Roast, with garlic sauce. You can eat about 5 pieces of each type of meat, opened 2 bottles of shochu, around 8,500 yen per person.

〈Features〉Located an 8-minute walk from Musashi-Koyama Station. Once you try it, you'll be hooked on this top-notch yakiniku restaurant. No photos allowed. There are rules in place. Recently, they no longer accept phone reservations, so now you have to go in person at the beginning of the month to make a reservation. 〈Menu〉・Salted beef tongue・Salted liver・Salted tripe・Harami (skirt steak)・Sirloin. I visited after a regular customer made a reservation for me. Both the mother and father seemed healthy, which was reassuring! The yakiniku here is delicious no matter what you order. The seasoning is so good that you must have white rice with it! You only order once, so it's hard to adjust the quantity, but the meat here goes down so smoothly in your stomach (laughs). If this place were near my home, I would definitely visit quite frequently. It was delicious this time too!! Thank you for the meal!! The recent change in reservation style has made it more difficult to visit than before, but I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

Yakiniku Wada is a legendary (popular) yakiniku restaurant run by a couple in their 70s as of 2023. I heard great reviews and came with high expectations. They have won various awards in the past for their tongue, liver, upper skirt, salted loin, loin, and harami. They do not use frozen meat, so there are various rules in place. *Advance confirmation required* ✨✨

A few minutes walk from Musashi-Koyama Station, located in a residential area that could also be described as a shopping street. On this day, a group of over ten people had made a reservation. We waited in front of the restaurant until the reservation time. The organizer sent us the "Wada Rules" which made me a little nervous. No tardiness allowed, no photography inside the restaurant, and also rules like no hats, and if you say "delicious" you have to say "tasty" instead. I was wondering what kind of person the owner would be, but when he came over to our table, he turned out to be a very nice person. The meat was all delicious as expected. The freshness was so good that you could eat it rare, which was a special feature. It was just really delicious.

A yakiniku restaurant where photography is prohibited. At first I thought it was a rejection, but it seems that's not the case? They seem to accept reservations at the beginning of each month. - Order - - Beef tongue - Top skirt - Liver - Harami (skirt steak) - Ribeye I really liked the ribeye and harami. The seasoning is the type that makes you want to eat more rice. One serving of rice wasn't enough. If it were nearby, I would want to go occasionally. It cost 9,000 yen, cash only.

There are many rules and rumors of strictness about Wada, but it was a wonderful yakiniku restaurant with great taste and cost performance when visited by three people at 7:00 pm. The mother was very kind, with a lovely smile, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nostalgic and very cozy. And above all, the liver and upper mino!!! It was the first time I had such delicious liver and I wanted to eat more, for the first time! The liver was firm and melting, and the upper mino was soft and the seasoning was excellent. If you go to Wada, the liver and upper mino are a must! When you finish eating, it is a rule to put the chopsticks in the chopstick bag, and when I tried to put them in, the mother kindly asked, "Are you okay? Can you put them in the chopstick bag properly?" I love it. Also, the rule of no photos is really nice. It was a great time enjoying the meat and having a conversation. Thank you for the meal.

A well-known restaurant located about a 10-minute walk from Musashi-Koyama Station. It has strict rules such as no late arrivals, no taking photos inside the restaurant, only one order and grill exchange allowed, and no leaving food behind. It's recommended to study the rules beforehand if you don't want to be called out. The grilled beef tongue with salt, beef tripe, liver with salt, harami, and loin are all excellent choices. In the summer, they also serve cold noodles, which is a must-try. The quality of the meat is top-notch, tender, and perfectly seasoned. Despite the many rules, the delicious taste makes it a favorite spot for many.

Recommended Menu - Top Tongue with Salt - Top Sirloin with Salt (reservation required) - Harami (skirt steak) - Liver with Salt - Tegutan (reservation required) For your first visit, you can order all menu items except for the ones requiring reservation at the restaurant. However, for subsequent visits, you will need to call in advance to place your order. Today, I will introduce "Wada" in Musashi-Koyama. It is a popular yakiniku restaurant among yakiniku lovers. See below for some of the "Wada Rules." [Tongue with Salt] This dish consists of tongue or a similar part with a crispy texture and slightly strong seasoning. It is a must-order when dining at Wada. [Top Sirloin] Reservation required. This item was priced at 2200 yen in January this year, but even if the price has increased slightly, the quality justifies it. You would pay at least 3500 yen for this quality at other yakiniku restaurants. [Harami] Thickly sliced and tender with a great meaty flavor, this harami is top-notch. Other restaurants might serve it as "premium harami" or something similar. The sauce is delicious and pairs well with rice. [Liver] In my opinion, this liver ranks among the top five in Tokyo. It is prepared cleanly without any unpleasant odor. Even those who don't like liver could enjoy the liver at Wada. [Tegutan] Reservation required. Tegutan, a spicy dish, is a popular choice for finishing the meal at Wada. It is rare to need a reservation for a closing dish, but it is so popular that those who enjoy spicy food should definitely order Tegutan. Reservations for the next month become available on the 1st of each month, so it's recommended to call on that day due to its popularity. Thank you for the meal. Additional: Wada Rules (to ensure a pleasant dining experience) 1. If you order rice as "kome" (rice in Japanese), you will receive uncooked rice. 2. Limit your meat order to one round. 3. Order cola only after finishing the salt-based yakiniku. 4. Wearing hats inside the restaurant is prohibited. 5. After the meal, return your chopsticks to the bag. If you know other Wada Rules, please share them in the comments!

It was my first visit in a long time! I used to be taken here frequently by the president of my workplace over 10 years ago. But the workplace has changed, and last year I visited for the first time in a while, and this was my visit since then! The old detailed rules of the restaurant, reservation rules, although they were there, when you hear the considerations and thoughts of the master from the perspective of a customer using a restaurant, you can understand and accept them, even if not 100%, and it's natural that there are various ways of thinking. On this day, there was relatively some flexibility due to a group reservation cancellation, so I was shown a chunk of meat by the master and heard a lot of interesting facts! People who appreciate this taste and think of the couple are encouraged to enjoy the restaurant's carefully selected meat and seasoning. I hope they stay healthy and energetic forever. I will visit again before the end of the year! Thank you for the delicious meal!

Budget: 7000 yen to 9000 yen A restaurant where the harami and loin are particularly outstanding, and the rice goes well with the dishes. My favorite place. I might go here the most throughout the year. Some say there are many rules and it can be intimidating, but the mother is kind and as long as you follow her instructions, there won't be any issues. - Top tongue salt in a large size. The seasoning is good, making the rice go well with the tongue. It's decent. - Liver salt cooked quickly, soft and easy to eat. Delicious. - Tripe salt finely sliced, so even though it's tripe, it's tender without needing to be heavily cooked. - Harami is tender and the sauce is delicious, making it a good match for rice. Today, I was told they only had enough for 2 servings. Extremely delicious. - Loin cooked quickly, like at a certain place where you can drink. This also goes well with rice. Extremely delicious. - Top loin (with sauce) I don't know if they remembered me from my frequent visits or if they just had some left, but they included top loin in the regular loin order! It has a good amount of marbling, but it's not overpowering and has a hint of sweetness. - Cold noodles ordered for the first time as a summer special. No vinegar, but apparently lemon is added to the soup. The noodles are firm and slightly thick. It's decent. - Rice They seem to be particular about their rice, and it's delicious. The sauce is also tasty, but the rice itself is so good that you end up eating a lot. Things to remember: - No photos allowed - If you want extra rice, order it when making a reservation - Some items require advance reservation - When leaving, put your chopsticks in the chopstick bag - Order all at once - You can only order as many servings as there are people - The mother is kind - The father is friendly and smiles - When there are 4 people, they order the following: - Top tongue salt x3 - Liver salt x2 - Tripe salt x1 - Loin x4 - Harami x4 - Extra large rice - They haven't ordered the kalbi, as it seems to have been removed from the menu - Prices were slightly higher than the photos on the food review site (as of July 2022)

I was invited by a friend and finally made my first visit to this restaurant! As soon as I turned the corner, a wonderful smell greeted me, which got me excited! I had heard about the many rules and strong habits of this place beforehand, so I was a bit nervous, but it turned out to be amazing!!! The Wada rules include no tardiness, no taking photos inside, ordering only once, placing your chopsticks back in the wrapper after finishing your meal, and more. If you follow these rules, you can enjoy a delicious meal in a pleasant atmosphere at this fantastic restaurant! The father may seem strict with his words, but he is kind, and the mother is very friendly ❤️ The overall flavor is rich, so you hardly need any sauce, and the food goes great with alcohol and rice! The meat is fresh, tender, and melts in your mouth...you can really feel the father's craftsmanship and dedication! I left the selection to my friend, and whether it was tongue, harami, loin, liver, or tripe, everything was truly delicious (lol). We finished with Yukgaejang soup, but I heard the winter limited Kalbi Udon is delicious, so I can't wait for winter to come! Thank you for the wonderful meal ❤️

Delicious meat is better remembered than recorded. This place, shrouded in mystery due to its no photography policy, is incredibly popular among meat lovers! [Store Overview] It's not a membership-based place, so new customers can visit, but there are quite a few rules to follow! Some of the rules I've heard before: 1. No late arrivals 2. No photography inside the store 3. Order only once (rice can be added) 4. Cook without creating smoke 5. Glass replacement system 6. Put chopsticks back in the bag when leaving - even if you accidentally use them as a chopstick holder, you'll be scolded 7. Do not wipe the table with the wet towel 8. Refer to rice as "rice" instead of "米" 9. Say "delicious" instead of "tasty" 10. Do not say "looks delicious" 11. Limit to one glass of cola 12. No hats allowed 13. It's better to clear your own dishes after finishing the meal With so many rules, I thought the owner might be difficult, but if you follow the rules, they are actually very kind! The rules stem from their strong love for meat! Reservations open on the 1st of every month for the following month, and while not as popular as some other top restaurants, it fills up quickly within a few days. [Food] This time, I was taken by a regular customer, and we ordered the following for four people: 1 serving of tongue 4 servings of liver 3 servings of loin 2 servings of skirt 2 servings of tripe Assorted kimchi Assorted namul The dishes were ordered in order of quantity, and they were all incredibly delicious! Truly a regular's recommendation! The sweet sauce paired well with the liver! I definitely want to be taken there by a regular customer again!

Located in a residential area a little away from Musashi-Koyama, this yakiniku restaurant is run by an elderly couple and closes promptly at 9 pm. The delicious smell can be detected from quite a distance away, attracting customers to the restaurant on the first floor of an apartment building. There are various rules to follow, so it might be challenging for first-timers without a regular customer to guide them. The meat is all fresh and has a slightly strong flavor, but it is tasty enough to be enjoyed without any sauce. The rice is a must-have to balance out the strong seasoning. The love for meat is evident as they urge you to eat it immediately if it gets overcooked. The meat is all marbled and the rules are strict, such as no overcooking and no adding salt after using sauce. Lateness is not tolerated, and photography inside the restaurant is prohibited. Chopsticks must be placed in a bag after the meal. Additional orders are not allowed after the initial one, and some items like udon, soup, and certain meats require advance reservation. The motherly owner guides you on ordering and cooking, and if you follow the rules, you will want to come back to this enjoyable restaurant. There is not a wide variety of alcohol on the menu, but a little drinking and a meal for four people will cost around 7000 yen per person. With only three table seats and three tatami seats, reservations are challenging, but I definitely want to go back. This is the best yakiniku restaurant in Tokyo! It was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal.

✧Impressions✧ No photos are allowed inside the restaurant. Keep your phone on the table in a row, do not put it on the table. Even empty beer bottles should be placed on the table. Finally, stack the dishes neatly for cleanup. Put your chopsticks back in the chopstick bag and say "thank you for the meal!" Food consumed ✍️(for 4 people): - Harami (skirt steak): 4 servings - Salted loin: 2 servings - Marinated loin: 2 servings - Mino (tripe): 2 servings - Liver: 2 servings - Tongue: 2 servings - Sirloin: 1 serving - Bean sprout namul: 1 plate - Assorted kimchi: 1 plate - Wakame seaweed salad: 1 plate - Medium rice - Plus about 2-3 cups of alcohol Total cost per person was around 9000-10000 yen! For a slightly larger eater like me, it was just the right amount, not too overwhelming. For light eaters, you may want to adjust a little. The staff will instruct you on how to grill the meat when they bring it to you, whether you want it "shabu-shabu" style or well done. Each type of meat was delicious in its own way. Overall, it was an enjoyable and delicious dining experience with various rules to follow. The staff will change the grill upon request, so you can enjoy your meal without any worries. It was a fun experience! Thank you for the meal!

A yakiniku restaurant in Musashi-Koyama where photography is not allowed. I was invited by a regular customer and visited the restaurant. I had pre-ordered, so the food kept coming one after another. I stayed for about an hour. The meat tends to stick to the grill, so there seems to be a knack to grilling it properly, as the owner mentioned. We ordered liver, tripe, tongue, but the harami and loin were particularly delicious. By the way, using your phone inside the restaurant and making noise are not allowed. On the other hand, it feels nice because there are no influencers or trend followers who want to take photos. Finally, remember to put the disposable chopsticks back in the wrapper before leaving. I ordered beer and a bottle of shochu, and it cost around 7000 yen per person. Very affordable! It was a popular yakiniku restaurant where the food was delicious.
