The location is convenient, close to the entrance from the pedestrian bridge, making it easy to move on to the next errand.

I worked in Ueno and had to work overtime for 2 and a half hours (but I overslept and was 1 hour late). Ueno tends to close early, so I didn't have much time to wander around. I went to a cafe on the 2nd floor of Marui for the last order, which was 15 minutes before closing. I ordered a two-color cabbage and tuna peperoncino pasta with a blended iced coffee. The set drink discount made the total 1648 yen. The food was served in about 15 minutes. The pasta had a large amount of purple and regular cabbage on top, and underneath was tuna mixed with mayonnaise. It tasted more like a tuna salad pasta rather than a traditional peperoncino. It was not particularly delicious, and the overall experience did not justify the high department store cafe prices. Maybe I should have tried the pudding instead?

A café popular for its homemade fresh pasta and freshly made cheese. I wanted to grab a quick bite with my mother near the station. It was a weekday afternoon and we didn't plan to stay long, just eat and leave. However, despite many empty seats available, the staff kept seating people from the back of the restaurant, making everyone look cramped. So, at first glance, only the back of the restaurant seemed crowded. By the way, we didn't stay for more than an hour, but the empty seats didn't get filled during that time. The way they guided customers wasn't great, but the food was delicious! They have a cute Ueno-exclusive panda series and classic and smooth puddings. They also have a kids' menu, making it a convenient stop for lunch when visiting Ueno Park, Ueno Zoo, or the National Museum of Nature and Science.

After lunch, I waited a little as the weather was rainy and gloomy. It was my first time visiting Pastel Cafe. I heard their smooth pudding was famous. I chose the strawberry parfait. It was a small strawberry parfait. As I ate, I realized the pudding was firmer than I had imagined.

Despite its convenient location where you can enter directly from the pedestrian bridge, we were able to easily get a table as a group at 12 o'clock on a Sunday and have lunch with Neapolitan or meat sauce pasta for 799 yen. What's more, they have a toilet dedicated to pasta dishes inside the restaurant. It's quite a good deal for the price. Today, we were saved from becoming lunch refugees as we almost couldn't find a table at other pasta restaurants. I added 100 yen to upgrade to a large portion of Tomato Cream Carbonara, which cost 1209 yen. It was a satisfying pasta dish. If I were to nitpick, I would say that the shiitake mushrooms didn't quite fit, so it might be better to go with regular mushrooms instead.
