"Gourmet and fishing buddies on a tour of popular yakiniku restaurants. Tonight, a last-minute plan to visit Yakiniku Daimon in Higashi Ueno from Ebisu! Hmm... it was delicious. Looking for lunch, cafe, and dinner buddies around Ebisu area. Also looking for ramen buddies and fishing buddies (lol)."

I used to come to Ueno often since I was little, but this was my first time stepping into this area. The shop had a nostalgic feel to it. It reminded me of a yakiniku restaurant I used to visit frequently. The portions of the tongue, salted beef rib, and short rib were on the smaller side. The taste was great and went well with rice.

I had never been to "Daimon" even though it was close by and I was curious about it because there were always lines at lunchtime and even at night. However, I hesitated to visit because I saw reviews saying that the cost performance was not good. Since I usually prioritize cost performance, I had not visited until now, but my curiosity got the best of me this time. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and has a unique atmosphere that I liked. When I looked at the drink menu, I noticed that a highball was around 750 yen, which made me wonder why it was so expensive and made me hesitate to order (it would be nice if they mentioned the brand). The meat dishes looked like this, and both of us ordered rice and added some hormone to our meal. When the meat arrived, I was a bit disappointed by the color and size at first, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! I wish the slices were a bit bigger, maybe 3mm more, but I wonder if it's because of the lighting that they look unappealing. Although the liver and other organ meats were sold out, the staff kindly offered us a piece of liver as a service, which was also good. I think I would visit again when I'm not too tired to go all the way to Yushima. The food was delicious, and I would want to try something else next time! ( ᐪ ᐪ )

"It's quite crowded here. I walked around Ueno, had some drinks, and now I'm looking for a Korean restaurant to eat. I walked a bit away from Ameyoko to find a place. I wanted to eat samgyeopsal. Full. Full. Rejected by two places. Decided to eat yakiniku at the third place. Couldn't see the prices from outside. With a hesitant feeling, I entered the restaurant, which was quite lively. Everyone was having a good time drinking. Looked at the menu. Since it's yakiniku, the prices might be reasonable. "Alright." Ordered kalbi, tan salt, beer, lemon shochu highball. The kalbi was delicious ^_^ Sometimes, yakiniku is nice too."

On this day, I had some errands to run in Asakusa, then walked to Inaricho and Ueno. I thought about having a drink somewhere in Ameyoko, but everywhere was so crowded! It's really packed, with tourists from overseas and young people all getting excited in the midst of the crowd. This is definitely going to lead to more infections! I crossed over to the other side of Showa Street and found myself in the old Koreatown, where there are still kimchi and yakiniku restaurants lined up. It felt like I had slipped back in time to the Showa era. I managed to get a seat at this place called Yakiniku Daimon. I had Chorogi salad, Kakuteki, Kimchi, and draft beer! Then, I ordered tongue salt, kalbi, harami, and top mino, while enjoying lemon sour. Finally, I was recommended to try the kalbi and kimchi hot pot. It was definitely worth recommending, a delicious dish!

Sunday 6:00 pm, no customers yet. Yukkejang soup for 1050 yen, steamed cob croaker for 1050 yen, kimchi for 600 yen. Started with the kimchi, which was quite well-fermented with a good balance of sourness and spiciness, quite to my liking. The steamed cob croaker had a green onion salt flavor, and came with vinegar miso which I didn't use. It was light and perfect as a snack! The Yukkejang soup had a rich taste unlike the chain restaurants, truly authentic! I wonder why there aren't many people here. Perhaps because it's Sunday in the office district. I will definitely visit again if I have the chance.

It is close to Ueno Station from Okachimachi Station. It has been around for almost 30 years. You can also have banquets here. It is easy for families and couples to enter. The marinated flavor of the yakiniku is delicious. The prices are not cheap, but you can enjoy the taste according to the price. I recommend it.

Finally visited "Yakiniku Daimon" that I had been wanting to go to. The area really gives off a nostalgic Asian and Showa vibe. I once missed out on drinking and eating here with friends, only managing to have one glass of beer. I realized it had become a filming location for "The Naked Director 2" and my desire to come here grew, but they weren't open at all during the pandemic. Finally made it to "Yakiniku Daimon" and enjoyed delicious meat and cold noodles. Had quite a bit to drink too. Forgot to take photos of the food, but it was a feast! #Daimon #Yakiniku #GrilledMeat #Meat #TongueSalt #MediumTongueSalt #TripeSalt #SmallIntestineSalt #HeartSalt #SaltGrilledMenu #UpperKalbi #UpperLoin #Kalbi #Loin #UpperTripe #Tripe #Liver #Hormone #Tongue #SmallIntestine #Mix #Yukhoe #Alcohol #OkachimachiGourmet #UenoGourmet #TaitoWardGourmet #TokyoGourmet #HigashiUenoKoreatown #KimchiAlley #TheNakedDirector

Korean Town in Okachimachi! I didn't know such a place existed! It was my first time visiting! On this day, maybe because it was a weekday, the last order was until 8 pm. There were various types of yakiniku, which was great! The liver was delicious! I enjoyed it rare with sesame oil and salt. Yum! The harami and kalbi were also delicious! I want to come back again! Thank you for the meal ⭐️

When you arrive at the front of the yakiniku restaurant, you will see a limited-time special lunch menu called "Kingu Gyutan Declaration" by the whimsical chef. The Kingu Gyutan is a spicy miso grilled beef tongue, priced over 3,000 yen. The menu is decorated with words like "Kingu Gyutan Declaration," "Happy Gyutan," and "The Great Love Affair of Gyutan and Spicy Miso." They use black tongue meat marinated in a secret sauce. The portion is so large that you may wonder if it's really meant for one person. The beef tongue is soft and delicious, with the sauce soaking in well. The smoke adds to the flavor. It's satisfying with three side dishes, including salad. Even though the meat is delicious, you may start to feel full after a while. The soup was a relief. Ate too much. I wonder if I can still work in the afternoon.

I went to this restaurant with my senior. It was a bit pricey, but the portion size was just right for me since I can't eat as much as before. I started with a beer, which was really good. I ordered a large beer, which was like the size that Onizuka would drink in GT○, and it had been a while since I drank such a big size. We ordered a salad first, then we were discussing what kind of meat to order when we got caught up in work conversation. We realized we hadn't actually ordered any meat yet, so we placed our order. We had kalbi, harami, and tongue, and it was all so satisfying. If it wasn't for the beer, I would have ordered a large rice too. Finally, we finished with cold noodles. I'm not sure of the exact price since my senior treated me, but it was probably around 7000 yen per person. It was a generous treat and I'm grateful. And the food was delicious.

I've been curious about this place for years. It's a Korean town in Higashi-Ueno with yellow signs, open late at night, and flashy showcases. It was my first time visiting with a friend. When we entered, we were led upstairs to a large hall where we had to take off our shoes. The veteran lady in charge warned us to put our shoes in the right spot because they might get stolen (is the area really that unsafe?). We toasted with draft beer and looked at the menu, which had no BBQ items for under 1000 yen, so we stuck with the more affordable options. We ordered:
- Cabbage kimchi: we chose one type to avoid the 1600 yen mixed plate. The taste was good.
- Beef tongue salt: the slices were not very thick, so it seemed a bit overpriced for what it was.
- Kalbi: the marinade was sweet, reminiscent of old-school BBQ places from the Showa era.
- Harami: we wished the slices were thicker to bring out more flavor.
- Sirloin: this was the safest choice and tasted fine.
- Hormone: it had less fat, and it was a classic style. The makgeolli came in a bottle, which was nice. The atmosphere was very retro, which was not bad, but with this quality (which seems unchanged over the years) and pricing, there are plenty of better BBQ places out there.

I went to this restaurant with a friend. It was our first time there, but the staff, who seemed like they had known each other for years, warmly welcomed us. It's an old yakiniku restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. We had beef loin, heart, skirt steak, hormone kakuteki, beer, and rice, and it cost around 8000 yen for both of us. You can eat as much as you like at your own pace. It's a place where you can relax and enjoy your meal. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I went to Ueno to buy kimchi, even though I wasn't very hungry, the smell of yakiniku tempted me. Ueno Koreatown has a Showa era vibe, with a completely different atmosphere from the surroundings. I've been to Tokyo En before, so I went to the one next to it, owned by Yamayama. The inside of the restaurant has an old Korean feel, with servers who seem like old-fashioned ladies. There were about three of them, all looking very clean and neat. There are no ducts, just large ventilation fans to let the smoke out, so it might be tough when it's packed and everyone is grilling meat. The tables, grills, and even the restroom are very well-maintained, so you can enjoy your meal with peace of mind. We ordered tongue, harami, and other cuts of meat, but I felt it was a bit on the expensive side. The sauce has a traditional flavor that goes well with rice. This place brings back memories of old-fashioned yakiniku. Thank you for the meal.

Wandering around Ameyoko... I didn't feel like having yakitori or motsu-yaki anymore, and I wasn't in the mood for the fake Showa-era style either. While searching, I came across a nice-looking restaurant in a different area! It seemed expensive, but my gut feeling told me it was an old and delicious place, so I decided to go in. There were three female staff in their 70s and no customers (^^;;). I ordered a chu-hai, seafood sundubu, and negi naengmyeon. I started to worry when I saw that there were no customers, so I checked the restaurant on Tabelog and saw a rating of 3.07. Yikes, it seemed like a bad representative of the area (lol). Did my gut feeling lead me astray? But when I tried the food, it was delicious! The seafood sundubu wasn't just about spiciness like recent Korean restaurants, but the broth was so tasty. And the negi naengmyeon looked vibrant and tasted great with the crispy texture of the green onions. I haven't tried their barbecue, so I can't say, but when comparing Japanese and Korean barbecue restaurants, Japanese places tend to win in terms of taste and value. However, I think Korean restaurants should be evaluated based on the taste of Korean cuisine. After trying these two dishes, I found them tastier than popular places in Okubo! Surprisingly, I discovered that this restaurant knows the right prices. Beers are expensive, but chu-hai and other drinks are cheap. The dishes are priced reasonably, with clear distinctions. Lemon chu-hai for 370 yen, oolong highball for 410 yen, ginseng liquor for 750 yen, seafood sundubu for 1400 yen, and negi naengmyeon for 1400 yen. A well-thought-out pricing strategy. I felt that all the prices were fair! If you ever come to Ueno, I recommend stopping by this Korean restaurant. Thank you for the meal! (⌒▽⌒)

The nostalgic atmosphere around here seems to have stopped time, it's pretty much unchanged. The richly flavored marinated meat goes well with the rice, and I enjoyed devouring the crunchy kakuteki followed by the comforting comtan soup. Washing it all down with a beer was no problem. It's a great spot in the East Ueno area.

Huh? Visited the boss-like presence of Koreatown in Higashi-Ueno, Yakiniku Daimon, after about 10 years. The interior of the restaurant is shiny stainless steel, is this Korea? North Korea? Kimchi platter for 1300 yen, squid sashimi for 900 yen, Namul platter for 700 yen, premium beef tripe for 1250 yen, premium tongue for 2350 yen, bone-in kalbi for 3000 yen, premium loin for 3000 yen, all in small portions, at a price range similar to Jojoen. However, the meat quality, preparation, and sauce were just okay. The biggest surprise was the premium tongue for 2350 yen, which was not thickly sliced, only 8 pieces. Maybe they haven't quite shaken off the bubble era. Well, it's the new year after all. The Comtan soup was delicious!

Frozen intestines came out. When grilled, only water came out and it was very bad. It was a terrible restaurant. The kimchi was delicious.

Yakiniku Daigomon A La Carte. White meat. A Korean-style yakiniku restaurant with a strong Korean vibe. It has a cozy, homey atmosphere. The food is delicious but slightly on the expensive side for the area.

On Saturday afternoons, on the way back from my father's eye clinic, we used to visit a yakiniku restaurant every month. It's been decades since the last time we went. I'm not sure if it's still there, but back then, we would always order yukhoe bibimbap and then buy some meat from the butcher shop on our way home. The lady who ran the restaurant was always so kind and provided excellent service. Since we were regular customers, she would quickly prepare our yukhoe bibimbap as soon as we arrived. I also loved the gochujang from this place and often bought some to take home. I always enjoyed the yukhoe bibimbap here and would eat around the rice and vegetables to save the meat for last, a habit that I still have to this day. Thanks to this restaurant, I discovered yukhoe and became a fan of raw meat. I remember being devastated when they stopped serving raw meat a few years later, thinking I could never eat it again. I would love to visit this memorable restaurant again. Thank you for the delicious meal!
