Tonkatsu set meal with various additions~♬ On the 3rd floor, I went to a steakhouse in the building where the Tokyo Kaikan is located after dropping off my watch for a battery replacement. I called to make a reservation but was told, "I'm sorry, we are fully booked for today." A bit disappointed, but since I was meeting S (who has helped me with camera repairs) after 3 years, and they kindly validated my parking ticket, I thought, "Well, there's the 8th floor!" When I arrived at the restaurant area on the 8th floor, the once bustling sounds of Chinese shoppers were gone, and now it was a mix of English, French, Chinese, and Korean languages. Only three stores remained - Echigoya Heiji, Craft Beer Tap, and Mantonki. The vacant store spaces had become free spaces with a park-like atmosphere inside the building. I decided on tonkatsu and headed towards Mantonki, but next to it was Wako, which had opened on February 10th. The interior had changed, but the window layout and steel structure were unmistakable. I ordered the Hirekatsu Nabe Gohan (¥1680) and the Hirekatsu Gohan (¥1400), while there was also Kagoshima black pork Hirekatsu Gohan (¥2630). The side dishes like Chawanmushi (¥180), Simmered Bamboo Shoots and Butterbur (¥150), and Shiitake Mushroom Stuffed with Meat (¥220) were not forgotten. It was a cold winter day, so I also had hot sake (¥390). The side dishes were seasonal and included Three-leaf, Chicken, Small Shrimp, and Shiitake Chawanmushi, Bamboo Shoots and Butterbur, Shiitake Mushroom Stuffed with Meat, all of which were excellent. The rice made from domestic rice was fluffy, and the clam soup had a great flavor of the sea. The tender Hirekatsu, served with Yuzu dressing on cabbage, was also very satisfying. The meal was enjoyable, and I regret not asking for grated daikon, but they also had miso sauce available for those who want to enjoy it Nagoya-style. Both were priced at an astonishing ¥100. Japanese food is of high quality. The meal was complete with rice, miso soup, and cabbage refill. Looking back, I wonder why I didn't ask for the Kagoshima black pork. Next time I have business at Yodobashi Akiba, I will definitely order the Kagoshima black pork Hirekatsu and enjoy the delicious clam soup. Apart from the narrow table, everything was perfect at Wako Hirekatsu set meal.
