On this day, I went to Bonchuu, a restaurant known for its BM (Brewery Malt) dishes, with a friend. We had made a reservation and decided to order a la carte. The restaurant had a wide selection of Japanese sake, categorized by prefecture, with each 100ml priced at 500 yen. They also offered a drink-all-you-can option for 3,000 yen with unlimited time. The staff kindly informed us that if our total bill exceeded 3,000 yen, we could switch to the drink-all-you-can option. This assurance was comforting. In the end, we decided to spend 6,000 yen for drinks for two people. The sake we enjoyed included Akabu Gin Otome Junmai Ginjo, Fukushuku Yamada Nishiki Tokubetsu Junmai, Kamiki Junmai, Tsuchida Nama, Uguisu Nodoburoku, Izumo Fuji Junmai Ginjo, and Yamakawa Torio. I only ordered the sake for myself, while my friend ordered the same amount separately. As for the food menu, we ordered the following dishes: Hama no Oshibori (boiled clams), Shijimi Garlic, Akagai Himo no Konbu Shime (red clam neck with kelp), Kaigan no Pate (shellfish liver pate), Sazae no Namerou (minced horned turban), Kaigai no Karaage (fried shellfish neck), Kaigai no Yanagawa Nabe (shellfish hot pot), Kaigai Dashi Tamago (shellfish broth rolled egg), and Kaigai Soba. The standout dishes were the Akagai Himo no Konbu Shime, Kaigan no Pate, and Sazae no Namerou. The Akagai Himo no Konbu Shime was like Matsumae pickles and paired well with sake. The Kaigan no Pate was a unique dish that went perfectly with bread. It had more depth of flavor compared to chicken liver pate. The Sazae no Namerou was easy to eat and enjoyable. On the other hand, the Shijimi Garlic and Kaigai Dashi Tamago were less impressive as they lacked flavor. The Kaigai Dashi Tamago was tasty for an egg dish, but the shellfish element was not prominent. The Shijimi Garlic had almost no taste, so I wouldn't order it again. Overall, the food was delicious, but the shellfish dishes were a bit pricey. If we had ordered main dishes, the total cost would have easily exceeded 10,000 yen per person. I would have liked to have more warm sake instead of chilled sake. Thank you for the meal.
