Katsudon (small) and Haikara Udon (small) Set for 610 yen. Nakau's katsudon is really good with the egg on top, the yolk is a deep yellow color that doesn't lose to the crispy coating of the tonkatsu. The overall seasoning is also strong and flavorful. I also love the fact that there is sansho pepper on the table. The tonkatsu is crispy and delicious. It's a slightly matured katsudon. The Haikara Udon is chewy with a good amount of firmness left in the center. Since it's a small size, it's more like a soup dish. But both dishes are satisfying in terms of taste and portion. I had this lunch at 14:30, which is a time when many places are closed around here, so I was glad Nakau was open. Thank you for the meal.

Tokyo is a chain restaurant near Sengakuji Temple that serves donburi and udon. Whenever I come back to Japan, I always crave this kind of Japanese cuisine. This time, I had oyakodon and tempura udon. Delicious. It feels like the hourly wage at these chain restaurants is increasing.

I visited around 3:50 in the afternoon. I ordered the lunch special of Oyakodon (regular size) with a side of hot Haikara Udon (small) for 550 yen. I almost missed having lunch. The chicken in the Oyakodon was indeed larger and more tender than my previous impressions, similar to the "Seven Delights of Nakau's Oyakodon." The Haikara Udon had improved in quality, with the added ingredients having a nice texture. The light-colored broth has also gained popularity. Since it's the Year of the Rabbit, I hope this restaurant group continues to do well. Thank you for the meal.

The area around Shimbashi Station is still lacking in warmth, even with the addition of the Shinagawa Gateway. In the midst of this, there is Nakau, a restaurant that doesn't stand out at all. There are few places like this that serve gyudon, and it's the only 24-hour dining option around here, so I really appreciate it. I usually go there late at night when I'm a little drunk, which makes the food taste even better. Of course, it's delicious even when I'm sober. This place is truly a valuable find.

Continuing from yesterday, I had udon for breakfast and lunch at Nanchatte Shoga Tenzangaku Temple, which is open 24 hours. It's quite convenient as there are few dining options around, and there were customers inside. I was satisfied with the freshly fried tempura. Oh, and with the coupon I got yesterday, it was only 260 yen. It was a good deal.

After visiting several clients, I finally managed to have lunch around 2:30 pm. Most restaurants had already ended their lunch hours, but luckily 'Nakau' serves lunch until 4 pm, which was very convenient. I decided to try their popular dish, the classic combo of Oyakodon (small) and Hiyakake Udon (small) for ¥500 including tax. Despite there being about 3 groups of customers ahead of me, my meal arrived quickly in just 3 minutes. I sprinkled some shichimi spice on the Oyakodon and took the first bite - it was delicious! The soft egg mixed with flavorful broth and tender chicken made for a taste that could rival specialty restaurants. Moving on to the Hiyakake Udon, it was a refreshing dish with Kansai-style light broth and chewy noodles, creating a satisfying combination. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal, especially considering the affordable price. The Oyakodon was incredibly tasty, thank you for the great meal!

At Nakau Izumigakuji, I had the Cold Hiyashi Soba (small) for 250 yen and the Unagi Hitsumabushi-style Set for 970 yen. Delicious! Nakau is a great place to be in the middle of the week. I followed the catchphrase of the first president of the Japan Electric Tel Union, Mr. Hiraga Gennai, and enjoyed the eel. Although it's not on the official menu, I found the Hitsumabushi-style Set on the ticket machine. First, I had the Cold Hiyashi Soba, which was cold, light, and tasty. I felt like I could eat it endlessly. After finishing the soba, I realized there was no bowl for the Hitsumabushi-style set and hurried to order one. Finally, I started eating the eel. I first tried it with just sansho pepper, then added real wasabi for a kick, and finished with real wasabi and chopped seaweed, along with Nakau's specialty, Kyoto-style dashi poured over it to make a light soup. It might look like I'm sweeping the soba away, but it's the midsummer Day of the Ox, so please forgive me. Oh, it seems there are two of them next year... No, no, no.

At Quangei Temple, I had the Cold Hiyashi Haire Soba (small) for 250 yen and the Sashimi Shirasu and Namazakura Ebi Donburi for 390 yen. I had a qualification exam in Ikebukuro from early in the morning. After it ended, I returned home for telework and ended up catching up on work until 12:30. In times like this, there's no other option but Naka Uo. The fresh shirasu bowl that was supposed to end sales in early June is still available. I might be turning into a reverse wolf boy soon, haha. Well, it's delicious so it's all good. I'm heading to Shin-Yokohama for a little expedition now. I don't have much of an appetite, but I have to eat when I can.

At Nakau Izumigakuji, I had the Hikarikara Soba (400 yen) and the Unagi Rice Bowl (450 yen). I received a coupon for special eggs, so I had the soba in Tsukimi style. I turned the air conditioner on high to dehumidify and work from home comfortably. Feeling a bit cold, I enjoyed the warm soba to warm up. I added two packets of black shichimi to make it extra spicy. I also added two packets of special Kyoto-style sansho pepper to the unagi rice bowl to prepare for the afternoon. By the way, among the gyudon chains, Nakau's eel dish seems to be the most delicious.

At Nakau in Sengakuji, I had sashimi shirasu and fresh sakura shrimp bowl (690-100 yen with app discount), chilled cold Hiyashi Hairy Crab Soba (small) (250 yen), and complimentary specialty egg. The fresh shirasu bowl, which was supposed to be sold until early June, is still available. And, the app discount, which was supposed to end at the end of June, is still valid. It's like being the Boy Who Cried Wolf! I heard that there is a shortage of shirasu this year, but it seems like Nakau is not affected by it.

At Nakau Izumigakuji, I had the sashimi whitebait and live cherry shrimp bowl (small size) and authentic 80% buckwheat noodles (390+450 yen). This is my patrol for the end of sale of fresh whitebait bowl in Tokyo. Although the planned end of sale in early June has long passed, it is still available. However, the posters have disappeared from the storefront, so is it on the verge of extinction? This is my second patrol for the end of sale of fresh whitebait bowl this week. I apologize for the similar post, but I want to keep watching until the end. - Location: Nakau Izumigakuji

At Nakau in Sengakuji, I had the Shirasu sashimi and fresh sakura shrimp rice bowl (small size) and the Haikara soba (small size) for a total of 640 yen. The fresh shirasu will be available until early June, so it's the last chance to enjoy them. As usual, the Haikara soba comes with Kyoto-style dashi broth and I added Gion Genryu's black shichimi pepper and the special Kyoto-style sansho pepper from the hidden menu to create a trio of Kyoto flavors. When the customer next to me heard me ask for sansho pepper, they made a surprised face and said, "Oh, can you do that?" and proceeded to also order sansho pepper for their half-eaten udon. Yes! Sansho pepper goes really well with Nakau's Kyoto-style dashi broth. Let's spread the word about the special Kyoto-style sansho pepper!

At Izusan Temple's Naka Uo-san, I had the sashimi shirasu and raw cherry shrimp rice bowl (small size) and the haikara soba (small size) for 390+250 yen. I remembered that the fresh shirasu I've been addicted to will be discontinued in early June, so I rushed to enjoy it (even though I had it last night too...). The warm haikara soba (small size) with Kyoto-style dashi is topped with Gion Genryu-kaku's black shichimi pepper, of course ❤️ I also included the "Special Kyoto-style Sansho" from Naka Uo-san's secret menu to complete the trio of Kyoto flavors! Both are delicious!

At the Nakau restaurant in Sengakuji, I had the sashimi shirasu and fresh sakura shrimp bowl, along with the cold hiyashi haikara soba (small)(※590+250 yen). I've been really into the fresh shirasu bowl lately. I used to have it at the regular price of 690 yen, but guess what, there's a 100 yen discount coupon(※) in the official app! I declared a diet, so I was planning to have the small portion and cold hiyashi haikara soba (small), but it seems the coupon only applies to the regular size, so I had to go for that instead lol. Still, I can't miss out on the cold hiyashi haikara soba (small). Oh dear, oh dear...

At Nagatake Temple's Naka Uo, I had zaru soba and shirasu rice (450+150 yen). It came with a free coupon for 2 pieces of tatsuta-age. Today, they used boiled shirasu instead of fresh shirasu. Considering that a single serving of rice costs 140 yen, the boiled shirasu only costs 10 yen. So, it's a really good deal! While I was thinking about that, I found another free coupon for tatsuta-age. Looks like I'm stuck in an endless loop of tatsuta-age! ♾

At Izumi Shrine, I had the Shirasu sashimi and raw sakura shrimp rice bowl, along with a small chilled Hiyashi Haire soba set for 940 yen. It was the 15th day of the month, right in the middle. It's fitting that it's "Nakau's Day," and you can receive a scratch card with no losing tickets. By the way, it feels like there's a lot of fresh Shirasu available today.

At Nakau in Quangaku-ji Temple, I had the beef salmon bento (with tea) for 500 yen. I wanted to eat grilled salmon, so I visited the neighboring Setouchi Shokudo, but today's grilled fish set was "mackerel." After hesitating, I decided to go for soba and headed towards Isekyu. After walking a few meters down Iresako-zaka, I glanced at the bento corner of Nakau and saw the beef salmon bento. Since I was in the mood for salmon, I compromised and got it here. It was a good deal with beef and salmon on the plate for just one coin. The taste was also reliable like a chain store. But I really wanted to eat crispy grilled salmon, not the retort one.

At Nakau Izumigakuji, I had both the Haikara Soba and the Sashimi Shirasu and Namazakura Ebi Donburi (small size) for a total of 400+390 yen. Both were delicious! It was a bit chilly without much sunlight, so I opted for warm soba. I also added two packets of black shichimi pepper to add some warmth. I've been really into the Sashimi Shirasu and Namazakura Ebi Donburi recently. - Location: Nakau Izumigakuji

At Nakau in Sengakuji, I had the sashimi shirasu and raw sakura shrimp bowl (690 yen). It comes with a special egg yolk (80 yen) on top. Delicious! The smooth texture and melt-in-your-mouth goodness of the sashimi shirasu, along with the gentle sweetness of the raw sakura shrimp, fill your mouth with flavor. The beautifully pale pink raw sakura shrimp is a perfect dish for this season. The rich and flavorful raw egg, which is produced with care in terms of feed and breeding environment, enhances the depth of the taste even more. It's just irresistible!

At Nakau in Sengakuji, I had the Cold Chicken Tempura Soba with Grated Daikon and the Sashimi Shirasu and Raw Sakura Shrimp Donburi (small size) (540+390 yen). Both were delicious! The self-proclaimed "authentic" soba made with 80% buckwheat flour and the well-chilled Kyoto-style broth soaked chicken tempura can be enjoyed lightly with grated daikon. The donburi, another Nakau specialty, features a tasty soy sauce broth that enhances the sweetness of the raw shirasu and raw sakura shrimp. A telework lunch during the holiday break. Alright, let's get through the rest of the day little by little.
